Pieces of Black Hair in Bathtub. 2nd Photo
    Lucas F.

We found at least 12 pieces of long black hair scattered throughout the bathroom. Carpet was not vacuumed prior to check-in. Carpet felt dirty... Most of the pillows smelled bad like those pillows were from a previous guest. Out of 6 pillows; only 2 smelled okay. Bed cover had dried blood stain. Housekeeping didn't do a good job. I'm not impressed. I will never return to Hyatt Place Buffalo Amherst. *Update: Hotel refunded the entire night stay. Hyatt did a good job at rectifying the situation!!

This hotel is not what we expected and there were a lot of issues. Probably never staying here again! 1. Room was small and cramped. No where to put/store our suitcases. 2. Breakfast was horrible! Eggs were cold, rubbery, and had no flavor. Bacon was good but, was only offered one of the many days we were there. 3. One of the two elevators in the hotel was down the entire time we were there and the staff proceeded to put us and many other visitors on the top floor. There were many times where we literally had to wait 10 minutes in order to use the very cramped elevator. (The one that was broken was finally STARTING to get fixed the day we left.) Also, there was no sign or notification that the elevator was down in the first place and we didn't realize until our second day there.

We stayed at this location for seven nights. We had a great stay! Positives: - good sized rooms (two beds and a sectional style pull-out sofa) - lots of breakfast items - large pool and large spa (currently have reservation times and capacity limits) - plenty of parking - friendly staff - different pillow softnesses - online checkout via the app - easy drive to/from the airport Negatives: - some breakfast items either ran out or they stopped replenishing (towards end of breakfast) - our room phone wasn't hooked up and all the available plugs were full (only needed the phone to call down to reserve the pool) - could hear anything happening in the hallways such as loud children and pets We would definitely stay here again.

This review is only about two things. The irony of the condition of the lobby. And the dog policy. Over the course of the past ten years I have lived in hotels for weeks to months at a time. I brought someone to check in and we asked if I could bring my 15 pound dog (when I came to pick them up later ) to the room. Their policy was that there is a $75. cleaning fee that I would need to pay if I were to bring my dog upstairs. When I explained that we wouldn't be staying, they explained there were people with allergies and they would have to clean the room. In my experience no hotel is ever that clean sadly. Bring your own cleaning supplies. Also in my experience, hotels have floors that are dedicated to people who have pets. Not only for allergies but in case they might bark and for the comfort of people who aren't comfortable with pets. Finally I simply must say that I have not seen any pet make a room dirtier then the things people have done to rooms or left in rooms(I found)that were " cleaned" rooms. I might need to add that the hotels I'm referring to are exactly the same quality as Hyatt. I have brought my dogs on many trips and paid a flat fee of $100 for the entire stay. Finally while I was pondering this strange policy I looked around and noticed how much cleaning needed to be done in the waiting area. I'm not saying don't stay at the Hyatt at all. I'm simply saying that's a rather silly policy and I'm sure I'm not the only client or staff member who is chuckling at it. Particularly clients who know the difficulty's of finding a cleaning staff at all much less a staff that does a wonderful job in the allotted 20 minutes per room.

I had a horrible experience as a travel agent at this hotel this past weekend. From check in to the room. They charged both my cards for a one night stay, then when we got into the room my daughter went to use the bathroom and the toilet seat fell off. THEN we found a Freaking ROACH in one of our beds! We left within an hour or so of checking in!!! HORRIBLE FOR A HYATT CHAIN.

The hotel is very nice. Rooms are decorated beautifully and bed had great linens. I prefer a firmer bed but still it was comfy. Not quite the typical marriott furniture. For example, an area rug over laminate hardwood floors. And a cart that held the mini fridge, safe, and Keurig. I am a lifetime Marriott platinum member and we enjoyed the benefit of their complementary breakfast. You order off the menu (not buffet) and it was delicious. There is an outside patio area with comfy chairs and firepit...shares the space with the attached restaurant (Jazzboline). Would have liked to try the attached restaurant, but yelp reviews made it sound terrible. (I depend on yelp reviews). We stayed in the courtyard room behind the main building. Windows do not open and no pool. We were traveling through town and stayed one night. Kinda glad it was just one night...the area was just okay. Not much in walking distance more of a city residential area. Overall, it is was a very pleasurable and nice stay.

Upon pulling up outside it doesn't look like much, but once we entered the first thing we noticed was the amazing décor. The customer service from all the staff working the desk and lobby café was also excellent! Checking in was smooth and perfect, she hit all the topics and was very happy, professional, and engaging. She told us lots about the property and gave us an excellent lunch recommendation too! Once we got into the room, it was perfectly decorated just like the common areas we saw upon entering. The tile inset on the bathroom floor and shower floor looked amazing! The bedding was great, flat, and comfy too. Ergonomics of the room were also designed for ease and comfort! They also have a Cadillac Escalade that they use to provide free rides to guests... Anywhere in the area within 5 miles, typically running until midnight! We were fortunate to grab a couple of rides with Marty, who was very engaging and helpful! He took us to a work reception nearby and told us to call him when we were ready to be picked up, which we did and he promptly came back to get us! Shower pressure and quickness of the hot water was perfect! TV also worked perfectly! We enjoyed our visit so much that we'd return to the area just to stay at this hotel again! Highly recommend staying here when in the area! I average staying in 1.5 Marriott properties weekly and based on the poor and inconsistent service at many of them, I wish the management here would train the others on how to keep a property beautifully clean (this place has been here 7 years and it looks brand new still!) and how to provide great service!
