Pieces of Black Hair in Bathtub. 2nd Photo
    Lucas F.

We found at least 12 pieces of long black hair scattered throughout the bathroom. Carpet was not vacuumed prior to check-in. Carpet felt dirty... Most of the pillows smelled bad like those pillows were from a previous guest. Out of 6 pillows; only 2 smelled okay. Bed cover had dried blood stain. Housekeeping didn't do a good job. I'm not impressed. I will never return to Hyatt Place Buffalo Amherst. *Update: Hotel refunded the entire night stay. Hyatt did a good job at rectifying the situation!!

This hotel is not what we expected and there were a lot of issues. Probably never staying here again! 1. Room was small and cramped. No where to put/store our suitcases. 2. Breakfast was horrible! Eggs were cold, rubbery, and had no flavor. Bacon was good but, was only offered one of the many days we were there. 3. One of the two elevators in the hotel was down the entire time we were there and the staff proceeded to put us and many other visitors on the top floor. There were many times where we literally had to wait 10 minutes in order to use the very cramped elevator. (The one that was broken was finally STARTING to get fixed the day we left.) Also, there was no sign or notification that the elevator was down in the first place and we didn't realize until our second day there.

We stayed at this location for seven nights. We had a great stay! Positives: - good sized rooms (two beds and a sectional style pull-out sofa) - lots of breakfast items - large pool and large spa (currently have reservation times and capacity limits) - plenty of parking - friendly staff - different pillow softnesses - online checkout via the app - easy drive to/from the airport Negatives: - some breakfast items either ran out or they stopped replenishing (towards end of breakfast) - our room phone wasn't hooked up and all the available plugs were full (only needed the phone to call down to reserve the pool) - could hear anything happening in the hallways such as loud children and pets We would definitely stay here again.

This review is only about two things. The irony of the condition of the lobby. And the dog policy. Over the course of the past ten years I have lived in hotels for weeks to months at a time. I brought someone to check in and we asked if I could bring my 15 pound dog (when I came to pick them up later ) to the room. Their policy was that there is a $75. cleaning fee that I would need to pay if I were to bring my dog upstairs. When I explained that we wouldn't be staying, they explained there were people with allergies and they would have to clean the room. In my experience no hotel is ever that clean sadly. Bring your own cleaning supplies. Also in my experience, hotels have floors that are dedicated to people who have pets. Not only for allergies but in case they might bark and for the comfort of people who aren't comfortable with pets. Finally I simply must say that I have not seen any pet make a room dirtier then the things people have done to rooms or left in rooms(I found)that were " cleaned" rooms. I might need to add that the hotels I'm referring to are exactly the same quality as Hyatt. I have brought my dogs on many trips and paid a flat fee of $100 for the entire stay. Finally while I was pondering this strange policy I looked around and noticed how much cleaning needed to be done in the waiting area. I'm not saying don't stay at the Hyatt at all. I'm simply saying that's a rather silly policy and I'm sure I'm not the only client or staff member who is chuckling at it. Particularly clients who know the difficulty's of finding a cleaning staff at all much less a staff that does a wonderful job in the allotted 20 minutes per room.

I had a horrible experience as a travel agent at this hotel this past weekend. From check in to the room. They charged both my cards for a one night stay, then when we got into the room my daughter went to use the bathroom and the toilet seat fell off. THEN we found a Freaking ROACH in one of our beds! We left within an hour or so of checking in!!! HORRIBLE FOR A HYATT CHAIN.

I calculated it wouldn't add too much time to our plans for sightseeing. It took a few extra minutes since the desk clerk was new and had to get a little help to check us in. They were very nice and we went to check out our room. It was handicap accessible for my friend. The room was clean, the AC was working and the bathroom was big with lots of handrails. It was a small suite with 2 rooms and I loved that there were cubbies/shelves and a large window seat (instead of drawers for ) for storing our luggage and all the extra "stuff". We had a small fridge but no microwave. ( Not a big deal for us). The breakfast area was clean and had lots of comfortable seating. The morning breakfast lady, DENISE, was so friendly and kept everything stocked and cleaned. She is definitely an asset to this hotel. The fitness room was clean, the machines were in very good condition and they had towels.....a very nice touch. The air conditioning was working beautifully....so important! Everyone working here that we met was friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again when visiting!

I checked in late Friday evening and found toilet paper plastered onto the walls of my room and hardened in place. It even covered the light switch, so I could not turn on the lights. The condition was disgusting, and I cannot understand how housekeeping approved the room for a guest. I immediately reported it to the front desk. The staff showed no concern and simply moved me to another room beside the ice machine, which guests used throughout the night and repeatedly woke me. The next morning, I asked for the manager, but the manager was unavailable. After I explained what happened, the clerk gave a halfhearted apology and asked, "What do you expect us to do?" When I said I planned to write an honest negative review, she seemed shocked and questioned why. She promised the manager would call me later that morning, but no one ever contacted me. The filthy room was unacceptable, but the staff's dismissive response made the experience even worse. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

We got checked in and made our way to our room. The second half of our party was still flying in so we wanted to get ourselves relaxed. Heading into the third floor, we realized that they were remodeling the 3rd floor. It was difficult trying to navigate down the hall as they had rolls of the old carpet blocking the hallway. The smell was awful as well. Our room was very pretty. The beds were made nicely. The bathroom was very big and bright! I love the light behind the sink. Doing my make up was great. There was plenty of towels. The soap by the sink stinks but it's soap so we used it. I appreciated the bathroom space in the bathroom! Breakfast was pretty basic but good! There was a good variety of cereal. There was also eggs, little breakfast sammys and oatmeal. The bread selection was on the stale side but edible. I loved all the beverages available! Juices, chocolate milk, almond milk and many hot options. The pool was nice to swim in. It is on the smaller side so you won't be doing Olympic laps. The receptionist was really nice. Other than finding razor blades all over the hallway and our front door, this hotel is great. If we ever come through Buffalo again, I'm sure we will be staying here again. Hopefully by then the remodel will be completed.

I arrived after 2 a.m., and the check-in process was smooth. I didn't have much time to look around because I had a long day of delay and was waiting at the hotel. The gentleman did offer a late checkout, as I arrived late without having to ask, which was nice. You can see the pool from the front desk to the left but didn't process much or look around because this was a quick turnover stop for a few hours. The room is enormous, with lots of space and a couch. The refrigerator was working fine. I left my bottle of water and soda that was given to me in it for 3-5 hours after I got in, and it was fine. The bathroom was also spacious, but I did notice on the door this may have been an ADA-accessible room, so that could be why. The shower pressure wasn't tremendous, and the water took forever to go down in the shower and sink. It's fine, it's across the street from the Buffalo airport, and it is what it is. I slept just fine, not super comfortably but well enough for a one night stay. The room was reasonably clean and in a state of disrepair, but nothing that I couldn't deal with. I do think this hotel is overpriced for what it is, and it seems there are no deals to be had here. I was also disappointed that I wasn't given any sort of upgrade nor acknowledgement for being a Hilton Diamond member. Since my flight arrived after midnight, I took advantage of the free shuttle from the airport. I was traveling alone and didn't feel unsafe at all. I had to call the hotel to request the shuttle, and it arrived within 10 minutes even well after midnight. The driver was nice and got super excited when I slipped her a $5 tip. Apparently not many customers tip, so throw the driver a few bucks to make their day or night. I also rode the shuttle back to the airport to pick up my rental car the next day. I took advantage of the 24 hour shop in the lobby, it's a well stocked pantry and since I was starving, I got a few bottles of water and a cup of instant Oatmeal. I loved that my room had a microwave and fridge, which came in handy. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and I slept just fine (considering I had to get up super early the next day). I mean, this again is just an airport hotel and I would not stay here for any other reason except that I have a flight or am arriving from a flight. This isn't a vacation type spot at all.
