DO NOT COME HERE! Checked in and received a key. Went to the room only to find that the bed linen had not been changed. it literally looked as if someone had just gotten up. I called a housekeeper who was very nice, who offered to change the bed. I declined and called the front desk to exchange rooms. While waiting the lobby became filled with police. To say it scared me is an understatement. They were up and down in the stairwells. Not sure what was going on, but definitely unsettling. The hotel was clean otherwise and it's seen better days because my ceiling needed repair/paint. Around 11:30p I started to hear very loud music. I called to the front desk only to learn that there is a club/restaurant that is open until 2am. Unfortunately the music comes thru the foundation of the hotel b/c I thought there was party down the hall! If you're a professional person who has to get up early, this IS NOT the hotel to stay in. Although located in the very heart of downtown Buffalo, this hotel for me, sadly missed the mark.

I have stayed at the Hampton in downtown Buffalo twice so far. Both times for a week at a time. And, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite Hilton Properties. It is located in a bustling area with plenty of places to eat and a lot of night life. At night on the weekends the streets are a little loud especially if you stay on the Chippewa street side which is right across from a parking ramp. Still, it has a great location. If you are a beer drinker, you are within a 5 minute drive from more than 10 breweries or beer spots. And within walking distance from about 5 good breweries and beer spots. The guest services staff were exceptional for both my stays. They communicated with me to ask about my stay and were prompt with fulfilling my requests. The hotel has hot breakfast which was just okay. I say this because the bacon was always under cooked, the eggs over cooked and the potatoes unseasoned and undercooked. Still, it was nothing I could not overcome for an extra minute in the microwave and some ketchup. Finally, they have a pool, fitness center and business center. They also have parking which is an additional $10 per night.. If I have a next trip to Buffalo, I will search this hotel out as my first choice.

Top notch. Quiet clean, well stocked soaps. Beautiful layout to the room. So relaxing stay even though it was for business.

The hotel is very nice. Rooms are decorated beautifully and bed had great linens. I prefer a firmer bed but still it was comfy. Not quite the typical marriott furniture. For example, an area rug over laminate hardwood floors. And a cart that held the mini fridge, safe, and Keurig. I am a lifetime Marriott platinum member and we enjoyed the benefit of their complementary breakfast. You order off the menu (not buffet) and it was delicious. There is an outside patio area with comfy chairs and firepit...shares the space with the attached restaurant (Jazzboline). Would have liked to try the attached restaurant, but yelp reviews made it sound terrible. (I depend on yelp reviews). We stayed in the courtyard room behind the main building. Windows do not open and no pool. We were traveling through town and stayed one night. Kinda glad it was just one night...the area was just okay. Not much in walking distance more of a city residential area. Overall, it is was a very pleasurable and nice stay.

Upon pulling up outside it doesn't look like much, but once we entered the first thing we noticed was the amazing décor. The customer service from all the staff working the desk and lobby café was also excellent! Checking in was smooth and perfect, she hit all the topics and was very happy, professional, and engaging. She told us lots about the property and gave us an excellent lunch recommendation too! Once we got into the room, it was perfectly decorated just like the common areas we saw upon entering. The tile inset on the bathroom floor and shower floor looked amazing! The bedding was great, flat, and comfy too. Ergonomics of the room were also designed for ease and comfort! They also have a Cadillac Escalade that they use to provide free rides to guests... Anywhere in the area within 5 miles, typically running until midnight! We were fortunate to grab a couple of rides with Marty, who was very engaging and helpful! He took us to a work reception nearby and told us to call him when we were ready to be picked up, which we did and he promptly came back to get us! Shower pressure and quickness of the hot water was perfect! TV also worked perfectly! We enjoyed our visit so much that we'd return to the area just to stay at this hotel again! Highly recommend staying here when in the area! I average staying in 1.5 Marriott properties weekly and based on the poor and inconsistent service at many of them, I wish the management here would train the others on how to keep a property beautifully clean (this place has been here 7 years and it looks brand new still!) and how to provide great service!

The Inn is right in the heart of the village, with nice restaurants north and south on Elmwood. Intermixed are interesting shops and boutiques, cafes, and even a cool grocery store. A mile south is Allen Street and all its wares; a mile north is Buffalo State and the art museum. Hop on a one of those rent-by-the-hour bikes, and Canalside and downtown is a quick pedal away. Even more, there is easy access to the freeway that gets you to Niagara Falls quickly (I suggest Whirlpool State Park for an alternative trip; the hike to the bottom of the gorge is gorgeous). The Inn itself is clean, interestingly decorated and comfortable. The room we stayed in was large ... and my wife took advantage of the large bathtub to soak away a late evening while enjoying a glass of wine. There are snacks, toiletries, water and other small touches that made the stay very enjoyable. What isn't mentioned on the Inn's website prominently is the breakfast: they are delicious. The owner has worked in the restaurant industry as a chef, and it shows. There is a wide selection of healthy options (such as fruit, granola, yogurt) along with hearty meals, pastries, cheese, sausage, etc. And, perhaps most importantly, the coffee was great. One last thing: take advantage of the porch. There is an outdoor sitting area off the communal living room that provides a great place for enjoying coffee and a newspaper in the morning, and a delicious nightcap (perhaps with some Buffalo-style pizza) in the late evening. The people watching from the porch is also great (Elmwood Avenue is pedestrian-heavy throughout the day and evening). Anyway ... if you enjoy culture, food, people-watching, access and beautiful neighborhoods, you'll love this place.

Prior to my stay, I called the hotel twice on separate days requesting an early check-in. Having traveled quite a bit, I've learned it's always best to communicate these things in advance. During both calls, I was assured notes would be added to my reservation and that the staff would do their best to accommodate the request. However, during my second call, I was informed there were no notes on file at all. I asked if one could simply be added since I still had over 24 hours before arrival, and I was told someone would call me back within 2-3 hours to confirm. I never received that call. When we arrived on the day of check-in, unsurprisingly, the room was not ready. To their credit, they did offer complimentary breakfast and stored our luggage while we explored the area, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the issues only continued from there. Once entering the room, we noticed visible stains on the bedding, as shown in the photos provided. While I initially tried to let it go and enjoy the trip, it became increasingly difficult to overlook the overall condition of the room. The bench seating near the desk was not only visibly stained, but also loose and unstable to the point where sitting on it felt questionable. I ended up wiping it down myself with disinfectant wipes. The room service phone also did not function properly -- calls could be made, but we could not hear anyone on the other end. After reporting this, no one came up for quite some time, and we had to repeatedly go downstairs to request basic items and toiletries before assistance finally arrived roughly 30-40 minutes later. The hotel itself is in an excellent location, which is honestly one of its strongest qualities. However, the hospitality throughout the stay fell far below expectations. The restaurant service in particular was consistently disappointing. I approached every interaction politely and warmly, yet the staff largely came across as disengaged, cold, and robotic. Very little attentiveness was shown during meals, and the energy from several servers made it quite apparent they did not want to be there. Ironically, the most friendliness we received came when the check was presented. As for the food, it was average at best. Not terrible, but certainly not memorable. Breakfast was underwhelming, and small details were repeatedly overlooked. At one point, we informed the staff that the coffee served was cold, and the response we received was essentially that it had been sitting out and they could simply pour hotter coffee into it to warm it up. That interaction honestly summarized the level of service we experienced throughout the stay: reactive rather than attentive, and lacking the professionalism expected at this price point. Overall, I left disappointed because the hotel has genuine potential. The location is fantastic, and with the right level of care, attentiveness, and hospitality training, the experience could be significantly elevated. Unfortunately, when you are paying premium prices, you expect the quality of service and comfort that is advertised -- and this stay simply did not deliver that. Oh I almost forgot, we got an unexpected visit from a stink bug and the staff merely said "I am so sorry for that"

If you're looking for that authentic Buffalo charm without feeling like you've accidentally…read moretrespassed into your grandmother's historically preserved living room, this is the spot. From the second you walk in, the house radiates that classic, cozy "Old Buffalo" energy that makes you want to cancel your plans and just exist in a state of perpetual relaxation. To the left of the entrance is the dining room. It's less of a room and more of a 24/7 hospitality hug. There is a relentless flow of snacks: chips, pretzels, fruit, and candy. The drink selection is equally aggressive in the best way possible (Nespresso, BOTH Pepsi and Coke products, beers, and teas). I spent an embarrassing amount of time just surveying my options. The Room (The Grover Cleveland): The room is a great mix of "I'm in a historical landmark" and "Thank God there's a heated bathroom floor." It's well-preserved but doesn't lack the modern essentials. The Pros: Mini-fridge, wall-mounted TV with streaming, and a shower with a hand wand (excellent water pressure, too). They even left two pitchers of water for me, one chilled, one room temp. That is the kind of over-preparedness I appreciate. The large windows allow tons of natural light to enter. Wall mounted Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the roomy shower. And yes, the bathroom has a wall-console controlled heated floor!! There are two luggage racks, writing desk and two comfy lounge chairs along with the king sized bed. One side has a nightstand with alarm clock abd the other side has a marble shelf on top of an old-style steam heater. There are plenty of plugs around the room and the door has bolt lock with old-style key. The Con: My only tiny gripe? The pillows. They were a bit on the "pancake" side of the spectrum, very thin and definitely not fluffy. If you like a firm loft, you might find them lacking. The Amenities The fireside library and parlor are perfect for pretending you're reliving the 18th-century lifestyle, and the covered front porch is elite-tier for people-watching. Parking is easy: you can pay for the off-street spot or just roll the dice with the free street parking (which was totally fine). The Food & The "Staff" The breakfast spread is legit. We're talking yogurt varieties, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and homemadr scones that I am still thinking about days later. Seriously, the scones alone are worth the booking. Also, special shout-out to the resident dog who clearly thinks he's the General Manager. He's the friendliest employee on the payroll. The location is walkable to a bunch of local shops and restaurants, so you're right in the heart of things. If you want a comfy stay that is affordable and feels historical but isn't "stuffy," this is your place!
