Traveling during peak summer can sometimes mean crowds or lagging service, but this resort delivered the exact opposite. From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like VIPs. Our room was immaculate, cool, quiet, and serviced impeccably every day. The refreshment/ snack center lines the breezeway onto the expansive veranda and steps down to the beach. It's stocked with guests favorites to enjoy 24/7. A glass door refrigerator is kept stocked with variety of Coca Cola brand soft drinks & bottled water. Lower shelves are kept well stocked with all kinds of Mars and Hershey candies from Milky Ways to M&Ms. Pretzels, Sun Chips and more varieties of Miss Vicky's potato chips. Starbucks drink machine rounds it out with a variety of hot drinks and iced coffee, made to order in under two minutes! Chocolate chip cookies fresh from the kitchen always available in registration area. Meals from their five star award winning pinched and culinary team can't be over stated. And the beach area (my reason for choosing Henderson) is gorgeous and pristine! -- it's lovely and never overcrowded, with staff constantly checking in to offer fresh towels, cold drinks, lunch and shaded setups. The dining options offered incredible variety and top-tier quality every single meal. All meals are à la cart. I enjoy this freedom to purchase specifically what I want rather than carrying a degree of cost for courses I don't order. Our meals were absolutely perfection! What truly sets Henderson Park Inn apart is the genuine warmth of the entire team. They didn't just manage a busy July week; they made us feel completely relaxed, pampered, and at home. Now at home we've realized this one week revitalized us better than two weeks anywhere else could've. Destin is a convenient location for most of the southeast. We live 6 1/2 hours drive away- pretty typical distance for many people in the southeast. But to stay at this amazing 5 Star resort right on the beach so reasonably close to home is a kind gift from God. Home now, refreshed and stocked with happy new memories too. This July 30 was our 50th wedding anniversary. Just can't put into words how wonderful time, even an over night Henderson Inn always is. This was our fourth visit!

We booked two different rooms based on what they had available. When we arrived, no one asked us if we needed help with our luggage. We made our way to the Presidential Suite and it was filthy. The room size was massive but they clearly never cleaned it well. The couches and carpet all stained, the vents had 1 inch layers of dust all over, the fan was covered in dust balls and dust layers, some vents were falling out of the ceiling with no screws, the tile floor cracked, carpet has nails popping through and there is dirt and dust all over the floors from not being vacuumed or cleaned. There was also a huge roach on the floor which didn't add for an additional touch. It's Florida so I'm trying to be accepting of palmetto roaches but it wasn't cool finding that on your already filthy $1000 room floor. We were incredibly disappointed. For over $1000 this is not what we expected. We did share this with management and our next two nights we were supposed to stay in the queen room, was then adjusted to the king room. While the king room was definitely much cleaner, this room was also hundreds of dollars less in value. It's just very disappointing to pay over $1000 to have a room you can't sit on the couch, or walk the floors without your feet covered. Aside from the room, we also had a pretty awful breakfast experience. Eggs cold, and my husband's avacado toast was missing the egg. We sent it back and it was fixed but that lost our trust in the restaurant so we ate out instead. Our experience with the rental chairs on the beach was not good the first day either. The guy told us there were chairs set up, we walked over and there wasn't. He didn't offer to add anymore, so my husband put ours out for us. We really felt they lacked the customer service feature here. This place lacked the prestige we hoped for and we decided we wouldn't return here again. While the sunset and sunrise are just breathtaking, the hospitality and attention to detail here is lacking and not for us at this price. It seems people have been coming here for so many years they have blinders up and are missing how much is falling through the cracks or even noticing any issue. We would not stay here again and definitely do not believe 4 stars is a true depiction of this place, it could use work and improvements.

Beachside Inn was the only reasonably priced lodging in the area that could accommodate our two large dogs, and the front desk staff was very understanding and welcoming. Our room was immaculately clean and incredibly easy to check into. The room was also extremely spacious and had ample room for all four of us. There was even a freshly baked loaf of blueberry bread on the desk, which was such a sweet touch! We stayed for four days and not once did we experience a single disruption - the inn was quiet and peaceful. The beach is just a two minute walk across the street. The inn is tucked away in a walkable neighborhood with beautiful homes - we enjoyed walking around the area with our dogs. Camille's cafe and restaurant is right next door - we got breakfast there two of our four mornings, and it was absolutely delicious! They have fresh smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, etc. Check out was a breeze - all we had to do was lock the room and enter a check-out code on the keypad. I did ask for it to be replaced twice and it never happened The pool: plenty of lounge chairs, but not as much shade. If you want pool towels, you can get them from the front desk. You do need your key to go in and out. The pool was nice, but full of children. Breakfast: continental breakfast with hot and cold items. You can get waffles, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and protein. Cold items included yogurt and cereal. They had fruits, toast and bagels. The beach is a five minute walk from the hotel. There's also a walkable restaurant nearby called the back porch. When we said something to concierge they said they would see what they could do to help. Never heard back. Breakfast wasn't up to par either. No eggs or bacon when we went to eat. Only waffles and sausage. Definitely not happy with stay. We stayed 5 days. Also they took the shampoo bottle off the wall the last night. Roof was leaking on us in the laundry room

On the upside I can't complain about the complimentary drinks from 4pm-8pm. The rooms are arranged around a noisy indoor courtyard FYI. The front desk gives you a four digit code to unlock the beach access gate. The hotel has its own section on the beach but interlopers will set up in front of you if you rent a beach chair. The beach is a 3 minute walk past a street and a restaurant. You can rent a golf cart for $100/day thru their third party vendor Red Fish Rentals.

However, the queen beds didn't feel like standard queen size. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast buffet and offers made-to-order omelettes. The best part was the made-to-order option, where the chef prepared the omelettes exactly to the customer's specifications. The hotel also has a convenient private beach. You can easily access it using the gate code, and we all enjoyed spending time there. Embassy Suites was an excellent choice, offering good amenities including the private beach access.

We loved how close the hotel was to major attractions like HarborWalk Village, Henderson Beach State Park, and Silver Sands Premium Outlets--all less than ten miles away. The hotel's modern design and the layout of our suites were appealing, especially with the separate bedroom area from the living and kitchen space. Having a kitchen made it convenient so we didn't have to eat out for every meal, and we enjoyed using the jacuzzi as well. However, there were some significant downsides. My suite wasn't ready until around 6 PM, which was well past the designated check-in time. My daughters' suite was available by 4 PM, so at least we could refrigerate our groceries then. Cleanliness was also an issue: the sofa in my daughters' suite had visible dirt marks and a pet odor, and we found strands of hair in the towels and other places in both suites. Also, the "partial ocean view" advertised for our suites was so restricted that calling it a partial view seemed almost comical.

She welcomed us upon entering and provided information about the rooms. One shortcoming was that we thought our rooms would be near each other. Unfortunately, one was near the elevator and the other was far away at the opposite end of the hall. Yes, we did ask to be close. The beds were also welcoming and so very comfy! We didn't want to leave! LOL! The room and carpet were clean and well maintained. Another shortcoming was the shower/bath - it appeared dirty and the shower floor was a little slippery. More attention should be paid this private area. Overall, the one night stay was nice and the staff were quite pleasant.

By the way, I used to live in Destin so I knew, the Golf Cart was very important. I called two places. The second was Beach Better Golf Cart Rentals. I got a message however it said I could text them on that number. I did and got a reply back in less then two minutes. The prices were more then reasonable and I could take care of the entire transaction online. Now for the rest of the story!!!! The home we rented is one of my personal friends. I asked him which Golf Cart rental place he uses. He said, "None". The home comes with a six passenger golf cart. So I did not have to rent a golf cart after all. BUT, when I do and that will happen, this is the ONLY place I will consider. The world needs to remember that we clients just want professionalism and prompt communication. We will pay more to get it. Customer service is the key.

I had an emergency and was forced to obtain a room at approximately 3:00 AM. I was charged a full night for the room, despite only being there for a limited amount of time. While I understand that hotels have policies regarding room charges, I would have expected some consideration given the circumstances surrounding my stay. I was also charged for a golf cart key that broke while it was in the ignition during normal use. I do not believe I should be responsible for this charge, as the key broke while I was using the golf cart as intended. I am requesting that this charge be reviewed and removed from my bill. Additionally, I was very disappointed with the customer service I received from the front desk. The staff did not make me feel welcomed, and I found the interactions to be unfriendly and lacking the level of professionalism and hospitality I would expect from Hotel Effie. I chose Hotel Effie expecting a positive experience, but unfortunately, the combination of the unexpected charges and the way I was treated left me very dissatisfied. I am respectfully requesting that management review my bill, specifically the golf cart key charge and the circumstances surrounding the room charge, and consider an appropriate adjustment or refund. I would also appreciate my concerns regarding the front desk service being addressed. I hope someone from management will take the time to review this matter and respond to me directly. I would like the opportunity to resolve this in a fair and reasonable manner.

Booked a room from a third party agent (TPA) and was unable to make it due to unforeseen issues…read more Had been working with Jennifer and because my reservation was booked from the TPA, she told me that she wouldn't be able to directly refund my money and to go through the TPA so they could placed the request. Easy, right? Maybe not (fine print). I guess the "high authority" at this spot declined my request without any contact. I called days later asking if there was something that could be worked out. Possibly staying the night and we would be there in 8 hrs. There is always something that could be done right? I could at least ask. Speaking to Jennifer again, she mentioned that the supervisor who would be able to approve this had been working different shifts so I requested a call back. On the road, anxious, I called hours later and thought I'd steer on the side of caution to reserve a room (we still need to stay the night). I questioned why I did that later and ask Jennifer to cancel that and I would just wait for a call from leadership. I never got a call back. My thoughts: Money is already theirs so why call me back? Did Jennifer relay the message? I cannot say. We drove passed and went on our way. It would've been awesome to stay here as I want to be a loyal best western customer.

So me being a bon voy platinum member of Marriott I used the app to book for one night early. We found this very nice hotel for ether cheap at around $170 a night. It is right in the heart of the shopping district but not right on the beach. Which was fine and worked perfect for what we needed. Really isn't far from public beach access either so can work for longer visits as well. The hotel and staff was very nice and accommodating. We booked a king suite with a couch pull out. Very comfy room and while On the smallish side did feature a full kitchen area. The amenities while we didn't take advantage looked nice. They had a pool and fitness center that looked nice. They had complimentary breakfast that we missed on as we decided to sleep in after a long day of traveling. Overall this like most Marriotts is a nice, relaxing and great place to rest up and it did a great job for what we needed and did so at a cheaper than expected price.

Disappointing Experience as a Titanium Member - Flight Cancellation Not Honored…read more I am a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Member and had a reservation at this hotel for a business meeting in Fort Walton Beach on July 29th. Unfortunately, my flight was cancelled and I was unable to make it to the hotel. I called the hotel immediately (around 7 p.m. local time) to notify them, fully understanding that a hold had already been placed on my card. The associate I spoke with said he did not have the authority to cancel or reverse the hold, but offered to move my stay to the following night in case I could rebook a flight. He also told me a manager would contact me about the authorization hold. The next day, when it became clear I still could not make the trip, I called again and spoke with another staff member. I explained the previous conversation in detail, and she also said a manager would reach out. A full week later, I had still never heard from a manager and was charged the full rate. When I finally spoke with Ali (who appears to handle guest concerns), I was told they would not issue a refund. As a Titanium Member with hundreds of stays across the Marriott portfolio, I have dealt with flight cancellations and travel disruptions many times. In every previous case, the property or Bonvoy has worked with me when I provided timely notice. This is the first time I have been refused a refund under these circumstances. After two separate conversations in which staff committed to manager follow-up that never happened, the hotel chose to keep the full charge rather than resolve a clear travel disruption. For a $200 stay, that decision speaks for itself. If your travel plans change unexpectedly, be aware of how this property handles cancellations -- even for elite members who notify them promptly.

My suite was spotless, spacious, and had plenty of room to both work comfortably and have visitors. The kitchen was well stocked, and the refrigerator was much larger than I expected. But the best part is there's no carpet in the rooms! One of my favorite features was the outdoor area overlooking the water. The pool has a gorgeous waterfront view, and there are plenty of comfortable places to sit, relax, or work. The location is excellent. There's a dog park that's just a short walk away, and there are plenty of restaurants, nightlife, and things to do within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast offers a lot of variety, but my favorite was the oatmeal bar. I especially appreciated that coffee, tea, and hot water were available around the clock. Everything about this property exceeded my expectations, but what truly sets it apart is the people. Their kindness during a very challenging time meant more than they know. Five out of five stars. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Fort Walton Beach area.

This site intentionally overlooks and will pretend they "can't find" a confirmed reservation even when presented with the confirmation number and email, which I did when this happened to me. Front desk staff is unhelpful and and untrained, while a manager is unavailable after 5PM, so good luck when an issue occurs. In this instance the front desk employee basically told me it was not their problem and then left the front desk when I pressed for assistance. Only after escalation through my corporate travel agency were the staff willing to "walk" me to another property which was 4 miles away and of lower tier/quality. No apology, no explanation. The management of this site does not value their business travel guests and will drop your booking at a negotiated corporate rate and overbook to higher rate paying customers when opportunity presents itself. Avoid this property. I will not be booking at this site again.
