The room is massive and thoughtfully designed. The outdoor shower is a standout, and the big tub makes it feel like you have your own spa built in. I didn't have a private pool since I'm on the second floor, but the view is so beautiful I stopped caring pretty quickly. What impressed me most was how effortless everything felt. Having an Embajador team plus a driver/golf cart makes the resort feel easy to navigate, and they're quick to respond when you need anything. The pool is stunning and spacious, and the overall vibe is quiet, calm, and never chaotic. The only thing I wouldn't hype is room service. It was underwhelming for the price, especially the lobster. Each room faces the ocean which we loved. Balcony off the bedroom makes morning coffee a great experience. Also there is a washer and dryer which is another plus. It's just about like being at a VRBO. Now the resort amenities. Large pool, and two hot tubs, which we took full advantage of. There is also a restaurant operating as Mahi Mahi Grill. Surprisingly they have an extensive menu, both drinks and food and prices are very reasonable. We only had breakfast one morning but later in the day we had drinks. As with all resorts there is a daily resort fee. I don't get it since you're paying a daily rate to stay there, so why an additional fee on top of it. I pay it anyway. Plus, parking is self parking and it's free. So why four stars? Unit entry is from the exterior. Exterior and corridors felt a little dirty. Maybe just me. So would I stay here again. We waited 20 minutes for water, then had to remind the waiter for our wine we had ordered (a 30 minute wait) and then to top that off, our main course arrived an hour later. There was absolutely nothing special about this experience. No one on the staff tried to make up for any of this. We will not likely return. What a disappointment.

The rooms are surrounded by lush greenery and have their own balcony with hammock! During the afternoon rain showers, I peacefully relaxed on the hammock listening to the rainfall. The rain lasted only minutes and I was able to quickly go back to enjoying the saltwater pool. I booked a 60 minute massage which was fantastic and so peaceful. At night, all you can hear are the sounds from the coquis and other various wildlife. I will say, keep in mind there will be a lot of bugs, which I am NOT a fan of, but after a day or so you no longer notice. There are no AC's in the room but the nights are cool enough that you do not need it. I stayed early December so I'm not sure if summer would be different. During the day it was about 85 degrees and at night, it would drop down to about 60-65. The food served is fully vegan. I, personally, am not vegan but every dish I had was exquisite. I was lucky enough to experience multiple chefs during my stay, all of which used simple and fresh ingredients to create complex flavors in each of their dishes. I have never eaten tofu, but I had a tofu scramble that was 10x more delicious than your average egg scramble! I have nut and sesame allergies and a lot of vegan dishes contain both of these ingredients but the chefs were extremely considerate and made sure to not use these in any of their meals. I had a car service pick me up to and from the airport but I would recommend renting a car as leaving the resort isn't really ideal without one. The ride from San Juan airport was easy (1.42min), except when entering the mountain area (20 minutes from the resort). Just need to be cautious of the bends and turns on the one lane road. Would definitely rent a car next time. I wish I took advantage of the mediation and yoga offered. I don't practice yoga but it would've been nice to learn, especially in this environment with certified instructors. I took advantage of the comfortable bed in my room :)

As always, I conducted a bunch of research, some say too much but they always ask me to find things for them... The name for the Hacienda Tamarindo is derived from Tamarindo trees on the property. If you go to Vieques there is a ferry they run all day. Ticket was two dollars. Vieques is a nature preserve so expect to see horses everywhere on the island. Oh yeah, roosters too. You need a rental car on the island. Well, at least I would recommend one and am glad I had one. There is no way to see the beaches without a vehicle. Hacienda Tamarindo will reserve your rental for you if you ask. Be aware that you may not want to arrive on the island before the rental company opens. If I'm ever on Vieques I will stay at the Hacienda Tamarindo.

It has a cute fountain and again great views of the beach - each room comes with a hard side cooler you can take to the beach. - there is an honor bar where you can make your own drinks - you can rent snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas from them.

The people here are so accommodating; they have 3 restaurants on the property and they are all equally good. from formal to casual you can't go wrong eating at any of them. i'm a marriott member and had some points that i used for one night and im happy i took advantage of it. unfortunately they are converting the property to a 4 seasons and it will be far more expensive to stay here. The st. regis operates like a luxury hotel should. i would give it 10 stars if i could. i used the spa facilities and the massages we got were first notch. and jesselyn was a great nature guide that took us around the property. we are sad to be leaving.

My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!

I've always wanted to spend more time in Luquillo, and after seeing the consistently high ratings on Expedia and TripAdvisor--along with its beachfront location--I decided to give it a try. The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore.
