Cons: The Internet speed is slow. The place needs a refresh, carpet and sofa looked worn as did the sheets and comforter. I didn't think this hotel was very old but they have popcorn ceilings!!?? Worst part for us was the sink was clogged - we were there 2 nights and checked in around 5pm on a Saturday - they said maintenance was gone for the day and they couldn't move rooms because they were sold out. To my way of thinking they should have called an outside plumber - there was just the one sink. The clerk said she would speak to the supervisor but we never heard from them. In the morning we reminded them, it was still clogged and we didn't want to keep brushing our teeth in the shower. Well after it was closed down, she made the extra effort to pour me a cup of coffee from the remaining two carafes. Other hotels might have told me I was too late and to buzz off. I ended up finding a GREAT last minute deal on priceline for this hotel and loved that its in such a nice, newer part of Gilbert-convenient to shopping, dining, airport, and the 202! The hotel is new-and is quite contemporary. The room came complete with a king sized bed, an L-shaped couch (pull-out, in case you need to sleep more), an office area, wet bar with mini fridge, and of course, a bathroom. I was a little disappointed in the bathroom because it only had a shower-and it was one of those that had a half/three quarter wall instead of a curtain. The floor got wet, I got a draft, it was definitely not what I was envisioning. A large garden tub would have been ideal! There's a continental breakfast in the mornings with the option to purchase omelets, eggs, etc. There is no restaurant on site (huge bummer) but they have snack foods and pre-packaged sandwiches & salads available. The pool area was extremely disappointing! Living in Arizona where it's pool season the majority of the year, I expected more. Their pool is super small, not much room for laying out, and no hot tub (for those rare colder 'winter' months here...). There's a decent sized workout room available right near the pool doors but didn't try it out.. Overall, it was a good experience for a great price! read more

I'm rating this as a 5*, not a 5* resort but for the amenities, service, cleanliness for the value of the price. This property has recently undergone renovations, we were able to get our room for three nights at $104/nt which for a suite type of room and newly remodeled, was a very good price. The pool was warm, which is a must for me, the lobby was inviting and relaxing, the breakfast was your typical eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, cereals, etc. There is a small bar where you can order drinks from which is a nice bonus. Our room was very clean, the a/c worked very well. All in all, a nice stay. They also offer a late night menu which is nice, we didn't utilize it but nice to know it's there. Within a mile or less is a Costco, a Winco Foods, many restaurants, etc and it is right off of the 202, we wouldn't hesitate coming back when in the area. Lastly, we were going to be coming into town a little early in the day and they texted me at about 10:30 to see what time we would be there, I said about 1:00, they said they would text me when our room was ready and lo and behold, they texted me at about 1:15 that it was ready, very nice feature! read more

Good hotel for business travel. Really like how they have laid out the rooms, makes it seem like you are in a mini-suite with a living room. The gym is kind of small but has all the things you would need to get a quick workout in. What I like the most is the breakfast they offer- each day they have two different bowls you can make, one is egg based the other yogurt based. The staff was also super friendly. If I need to travel to Gilbert again I will stay here. read more

We booked this hotel through Interval International for our visit to Phoenix. This hotel is located thirty miles southeast of downtown Phoenix. It's very close to the Loop 202 Highway so getting around was quite easy. There's a Costco and restaurants a short distance north. We found all kinds of eateries and stores including a Target 2 miles away along 202. Venturing further out we came upon a Whole Food on 101 on our way to Scottsdale. The hotel's new and modern. Our corner room was clean and quiet. The bed was super comfortable. Good size closet, many drawers, and a large walk-in shower. The complimentary breakfast buffet served average standard fare. Grateful to have hot coffee and a warm meal in the morning. However, the over-cooked hard boiled eggs and tasteless scrambled eggs with a strange texture discouraged us from trying out the happy hour food menu with discounted drinks in the afternoon. This is the worse hotel I've been to. The staff are rude and not helpful at all. The hotel is dirty and they don't change bed sheets or give you towels until you ask them more than 3 times. We are frequent visitors to Hyatt, but this was our first time at the more casual Hyatt Place. And we loved it! The concept it's more laid back than a traditional Hyatt. Rooms were very clean and spacious, easily fit our family of 4. A breakfast buffet is included with the room cost, and the it's full of great, high quality, food that included some very healthy options (in addition to the biscuits & gravy, donuts, etc). The staff was all very friendly and helpful, even bringing our lunch out to the pool for us one day (not standard protocol). Location is good, right of the 202 freeway. I would not recommend this place to stay. We were given a dirty room that smelled like dirty feet. The blinds were broken and dirty air conditioning filters left on the unit. The shower was either way to hot or too cold. After several calls we were able to change rooms the next day. During Covid you would think the place would be Thoroughly sanitized but not the case here, even the furniture near the elevators had dust on them. Make sure to bring your Lysol and wipes to do your own cleaning of the room. Better yet pass on this place. read more

My family and I enjoy the staying at the Hyatt hotel. It's a simple, small & easy to find the areas that we needed to go such as the lobby, gym, pool, bar, & getting help from the staff. This place is best for few groups of ppl such as a couple or a small family or good for 2-3/4 groups of friends. My hotel had a full-ton bed. The bed is huge it can fit 2/3-4 ppl. It's very spacious. The room is nice & quite big. It was perfect for my sister and I and my nephew and we're small ppl. I would come back definitely. It's a perfect small vacation or a small getaway. read more

When we got there my wife noticed a smell coming from the sleeper sofa. We lifted up a cushion and found a huge stain. In the bathroom there was hair everywhere. Smoke alarm was missing as well. We decided to do a staycation here in Gilbert instead of traveling like everyone else over memorial day weekend. Because of the pandemic, things were limited at this hotel. I probably would have given it four stars but not mentioning that there was no breakfast and no food other than snacks available on site was definitely a disappointment. There seems to be not many people at this hotel which we enjoyed. The girl that checked us in was very friendly and let us know that there was a limited breakfast of muffins, coffee and juice. When we came down in the morning, there was no one to be found to get any of the items offered. The front desk, bar and breakfast area all seem to be one with only one person running it. I don't know if this is their normal practice but we did not feel comfortable looking around for someone to find out what they have. We also came here with the intent on going swimming. The pool was very small and not cleaned daily by all the debris floating around in it. The room was quiet and comfortable, nice furniture, a refrigerator and a small coffee maker. The bed, sheets, pillows were all comfortable. We did have to travel out to restaurants and order in food. We usually go over to the Cambria and probably will go back to staying there as their pool is nicer. I feel more customer service would have made our visit nicer and able to take advantage of the amenities that we paid for. read more

While we were happy with the rooms (clean, spacious, modern), we were disappointed with the pool. After seeing reviews online regarding a heated outdoor pool (because when you have kids, this is important), I called the front desk before booking our reservation to confirm that the pool was actually heated. I was told the pool was currently 85 degrees. I booked the hotel and we checked in two days later. Upon check in, I asked again about the pool and was told the hours and again that it was 85 degrees. Unfortunately, when we headed outside to the pool the following day, we found a cold pool that our daughter wouldn't even get into. I felt around and did not feel any warm water being pumped into the pool. I went and asked the front desk if they could check on it... they responded promptly and sent a guy outside who went into the maintenance room. When he came out, he touched the pool and agreed that it did feel cold, but said the temperature read 82 degrees. I've swam in 80 degree lakes and surfed in 60 degree water... it was much closer to the later. Since we didn't want to give up completely, my husband and my daughter got completely in and hoped for the best, but only last about 5 minutes. The next day, we checked the pool again and it was still cold. While a pool doesn't seem like such a big deal, it was the primary reason for choosing the hotel because we have a young daughter and knee we would have lots of free time. I had a list of a few other hotels that we were considering (with heated pools), but called the Hyatt Place first based on room selections. Had I been told on my initial phone call that the pool was not heated, I would have chosen another hotel. While I am unhappy the results of the trip, the rest of the hotel was great and were happy with the rooms. Before checking the pool, I thought we had found our "go to" spot for the future... we have family in Mesa and visit often. read more

HYATT PLACE Hotel -- Gilbert, Arizona. Interestingly, every time we've tried to submit this report with a 2 star, on Hyatt Place and on Trip Advisor it won't allow and says YOUR OVERALL RATING OF THIS PROPERTY THIS FIELD IS REQUIRED. Can't leave a poor review? Apparently Trip Advisor and Hyatt Place will not accept poor reviews for this location. Let me start out by saying that the staff was very polite, helpful and courteous, if not a bit embarrassed.   We were so delighted to be staying at a Hyatt during my family reunion in Phoenix, until I walked in to an unmade bed, and some other family's dirty towels. I can honestly say, we would never stay at this property again. When we checked in, we were given a room that had yet to be cleaned. We were then given another room that must have been a "spare".  1) The TV remote became hot to the touch, and did not work.  2) Its replacement seemed to be functional, but not on our TV. Oh well so much for watching TV.  3) You had to stand behind the toilet to close the door as there was  1/4 inch clearance between the toilet and the door. A gymnast might have appreciated this set up.  4) The shower was open on one end, so no door or shower curtain. This meant that you had to be in the shower to turn it on and you could not avoid the blast of cold water while waiting for the warm. And because the far end of the glass shower wall was open the water splashed out onto the floor -- truly a slip and fall hazard. Metal frame at the bottom of the glass shower partition was rusty and the tile grout was dirty.   5) Some genius designed the thermostat on the opposite wall from the air unit. This allowed you to freeze in the bed till it got cool enough at the Thermostat to shut off and the bed area got hot enough to wake you up 4 times during the night to turn it back on.  6) Couch was old and worn, much like the hotel, but we didn't use it because we couldn't watch TV anyhow.  7) The headboard on our bed and the wall mounted end table looked like someone had either been sitting on it or had gotten into a fight over it as it was lying crooked on the wall with a sideways gap.  8) Don't even get me started on the overflowing trash and lack of cups at breakfast, but the staff was lovely. Floor and empty tables were dirty and quests were left to their own devices to root through the cupboards to find cups. Food items were unmarked and we still don't know what the "white stuff" in the big bowl was. $152 and one night stay later we feel ripped off and have no future plans to stay at any of Hyatt's other destinations. The name Hyatt once meant something in the business. Now it's just an embarrassment. Either corporate is stingy and does not hire enough staff, or management does not know how to properly train its staff. Either way, this hotel is relying on its Glory Days name and is a 2 start disappointment living up to its past. If this company needs secret traveling Quality Control Reporters, we are happily available. read more

Really enjoyed my stay at Hyatt Place Gilbert. Location was great ,close to several restaurants, shopping and freeway. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, food was hot and fresh. Our room was spotless, beds were comfortable with soft pillows. The temperature during my visit was over 100 and the the AC in our room was cool. Me and my family stayed here to be closer to the airport and I was completely satisfied with the service. Derek at the front desk was great. He had a smile on his face every time you saw him and always acted like you were the most important guest. There was a problem with the air in our room so he personally came up to our room to help us move to a different room. There was another staff person (sorry to say I didn't catch his name) that helped me with information on food places with delivery, when asked if there were food places around he pulled out a huge file and helped me sort through it to find just what I was looking for. I had mentioned that we would have to leave before the breakfast would be served and he said "No problem, how many breakfast boxes do you need and what time do you want them ready" The only thing that I was disappointed about was the size of the pool. It's max capacity is 47 people and is only 4 feet deep. I think my kids were expecting something quite a bit larger but since they were the only ones in it the whole time I don't think they really minded in the end. The room we had not only two queen sized beds but a sectional looking couch that folded out into a bed too so plenty of room and the fridge in the room was also a bonus. Noon check out gives you plenty of time to sleep in a little, get breakfast, maybe take a quick swim, clean up and leave on time. I love not having to rush out. read more

My son had a baseball tournament and needed a hotel near by the park. This was my first time staying at this hotel and was absolutely disappointed. My husband had called three times to confirm our arrival and check-in time and was told that our room was ready and on hold with our credit card. When we arrived, front desk told us our room was given to someone else! Only room was available was a handicap double queen room or a king size bed room. We are a family of five and booked a regular double queen room, no way we could fit all of us in one king bed. All other hotels were booked because of the tournament. So we had no choice but to get the handicap room. The room was disgusting. It smelled soooo bad. The CARPET FLOORS had nasty red stains everywhere and looked so dirty. I was so uncomfortable. There was no way I was going to let my kids stay in a room like that especially with the COVID-19 Situation. I complained to front desk and gave us the king bed. The next day we expected our room to be cleaned and new towels while we were out. That didn't happen either. I called front desk 3 times for new towels and even went myself to ask for them at the front desk.. they answered, "they will take them to your room". It took 3 hours for new towels. I will never stay at the Hyatt again. read more

I stayed here a few weeks ago while I was in the Gilbert/Chandler area visiting a few friends. I paid $99 for the room on Expedia, which is an exceptional room rate for a Hyatt. The hotel itself is kind of small, especially for a Hyatt, but the layout is easy and it's very clean. Parking is free, check-in is extremely efficient and the staff are all really nice. I usually don't book hotels through websites like Expedia, because I've heard horror stories about hotels losing the guests' reservations, but this Hyatt Place has an efficient front desk computer system that was quick and easy. The biggest perk of this hotel was the FREE shuttle that took us to the SanTan Village mall and back. We took the shuttle at around 6:00 pm and called the hotel to pick us up at around 9:30 pm. It was great being able to call the hotel for a ride back, and having them be there within 10 minutes. Another great aspect of this hotel is that it has free WiFi, nice Shampoos and Conditioners, and a big HDTV! read more

Wonderful place to stay. The price was great! $84 one night and $89 the next night. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room I stayed in was nice, clean, and comfortable. Also, they offer free breakfast everyday from 6:30am to 9:00 am, and it wasn't one of those continental breakfast either. It was a full-on breakfast...eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, etc.!!! The reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars is when I went to make myself a cup of coffee in my room, I grabbed one of the mugs on the counter and noticed that there was some sort of dried filth on it. NOTE: Always rinse/wash your mugs and/or glasses before using them. Overall, I would recommend this place to family and friends. PS. If you're looking for a big pool to swim and relax in, this is not the place. read more

This is not a fancy dancy hotel. It provides the basics but at a higher level than most non luxury hotels. You may be checked in and served in the eating area by the same person. I have never encountered anything but friendly and professional staff. Along with the price of the room is breakfast that is not bad. And the "restaurant" provides food and lquor round the clock. The liquor pours have been very nice at every one of my stays. Rooms are larger than most at this level of hotel but no bathtub. Some have laundry facilities. A very good hotel for friendly staff, round the clock food and drink, reasonable price and usually in a convenient location when you travel. read more

My family has stayed at this hotel multiple times, and we always have issues. We generally will use Hotwire because we are guaranteed a hotel in our general area, and this hotel does not hold to the promise of providing a room that accommodates the number of guest put on the reservation. They count the couch as a "bed", then they try to charge you for an "upgrade" when you request 2 queen beds. They always seem to care less about your frustration. Leslie today did not care much at all and told me to contact Hotwire. None of the other hotels in the general area give us trouble like this one. read more

Stayed here this past weekend for our son's 16th birthday and it was as good as it gets! They had special little bundt cakes with a happy birthday message waiting in our room when we arrived! The staff was AMAZING! They couldn't have been more helpful or polite! Loved the pool and spent a large amount of time in it! Loved the shower! Was huge! The room was GREAT! There's a fridge in the room and a microwave downstairs in the galley if you need it - very cool! The free breakfast - OHMYGOSH! It was GREAT! Huge TV! Quick and FREE internet! My family and I checked in on May 31st and was to check out on June 6th 2017. I woke up close to midnight and there was bed bugs all under my son's pillow. He's four years old. They were of all sizes. We frantically got up and grabbed our suitcases and ran to the car. The staff was nice about it and let us check out without being charged. The room was really big but the furniture was way out dated. Our bathroom was leaking water from the shower and it wasn't that clean. We had to use alot of towels to soak up the water so it wouldn't flood the floor. It appeared to be remodeled, the bathroom, but it still looked gross. Upon checking in the staff was extremely nice and I loved that alot. Under the circumstances, I could never stay there again. read more

I was happy with this place. The front desk service was friendly. When I got to our room, they had a neat feature I haven't seen before -- you have to put your room card into a slot when you get in the room in order to turn the lights on. When you take the card out, the lights turn off after a minute -- they're going green. The room itself was clean and updated. I didn't have a chance to check out the exercise room or the pool. The bed was situated in a way that didn't really let you watch TV from it. One problem I had was in their restaurant area. I ordered some food from the bar. I waited and waited, and eventually there was confusion behind the desk and they asked me again what I had ordered. And I had to correct them when they repeated what I had ordered. It took a good 15 minutes just to get something. I wouldn't think that's typical, though. All-in-all, just minor complaints that wouldn't keep me from coming back when I'm in the area again. read more

Had the "do not disturb" sign up before we left for the day, only to return to see that someone had entered our room without permission. Found the room service person had casually thrown my designer handbag on the floor. The swimming pool is way too tiny and crammed. In the morning, during breakfast, I was standing next to the buffet to get a tiny donut, when out of the blue some old lady with a rolling cart about knocked me over and yelled in a nasty tone "UM, were not open for breakfast yet!" Yes ma'am, I realize the cooked food isn't out YET, but maybe don't sit the donuts, danishes and every other item out until you want people to eat. Jesus, give me a break. When you're that rude, you probably shouldn't be working in customer service. read more

Hyatt is one of my preferred chains but this hotel doesn't meet the chains usual standards. The rooms are spacious with separate seething area. Beds comfortable. Good location in Gilbert. But, very understaffed. One person handling front desk who also handles coffee bar, liquor bar and sweeps lobby. Guy in halls collecting linens and trash also staffs the pool and is the shuttle service. I was out of my room daily at 6:30AM so was surprised when on Saturday I left at 9:30 and found a note on my door that since room wasn't available for service it wouldn't be made up or cleaned that day. Asked front desk to have it made up and of course it wasn't. And dirty glasses were never changed or cleaned. Learned maids must do 25 rooms per day each!! Too bad because it could be a nice hotel but they're so cheap and understaffed it really takes away from the place. Will try one of the many other places in the area on my next trip. read more

Great hotel! Very clean, comfortable, and new-looking. The staff is very courteous, attentive, and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable to stay in. We were here for just under a week and didn't have any really negative things to say. The hotel is also close enough (five minutes driving) to nearly any kind of food you could want. The only slight downsides are the lack of a jacuzzi (however in AZ I understand the lack of a need for one) and the fact that the only microwave was in the lobby (not a huge deal either). All in all we could not have been happier to stay here and have already decided that if we were to stay in AZ again, it would be at the Gilbert Hyatt. read more
