    Cozy and clean suite
    Kate F.

This hotel is located close to everything, walking distance to the wharf and the national mall and within minutes of the airport. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The only thing missing here is the views, its either the freeway or the street. Guest services is very quick and helpful. Breakfast is included and there is a wide assortment of hot and cold food and hot and cold beverages. On various days there were eggs, hash browns, a salsa bar, pancakes, beans and toast, bagels, yogurt and parfait toppings, fresh fruit and more. The chef comes out to greet everyone and thank the "breakfast ambassadors". The dining room can get crowded so review their suggested dining times posted in the elevator if you like a more peaceful breakfast dining experience. The walk to the Wharf is about 11 minutes, the walk to the National Mall was about 7 minutes. There is a Safeway grocery store within a 10 minute walk towards the wharf ...it has a bakery, deli, florist, and starbucks inside. There is a 24 hour gym and a huge lobby space. There is a rooftop bar but the weather wasn't warm enough in January. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance - but check closing times. The only downside to our stay was the girl at the front desk. I think she was in some sort of program to reintroduce you to the workforce... she really lacked very basic customer service skills but to her credit she moved around real fast. She was profiling some of the black men using the gym, walking over to ask if they were guests and not asking the others. She was covered in tattoos and eyelashes and a wig and fidgeted like she needed a smoke break... I know it doesn't matter what people look like but I got the feeling someone was not thoroughly vetting staff to hire for front desk service. The only other downside was the cleaning crew continuously tried to open the door and walk in on our check out day. The rooms were immaculate so I am guessing they are really eager to clean? Loved our stay, I would highly recommend this hotel for all types of travelers, particularly if you want or need to walk around. Docked a star for the front desk lady and the elevators were constantly broken.

    My sad little turkey sandwich.

The hotel is exactly what we expected but the Placery restaurant inside the Hyatt leaves allot to be desired. After a 50-minute wait we finally got the other half of our order. I've never seen a turkey sandwich with so little turkey. 2 burgers, one turkey sandwich, a chicken sandwich, overcooked chicken tenders and a $103.00 tab, we won't be dining here again. Beware there is only one fryer in the kitchen so even with only 3 tables of patrons, it took forever.

Nice location with easy access to the National Mall, the Metro and The Wharf waterfront within a 10-15 minute walk. Check in is on the third floor. Breakfast, which included eggs, potatoes, French toast, fresh fruit, bagels, coffee, tea and yogurt, is located behind the reception desk also on the third floor. There is a small patio where you can eat outside. The rooms were quiet which was perfect for a restful night, but a bit surprising considering that the hotel is located next to both a fire station and the highway. Security was also good. After hours, the room key is needed to access the building and always needed to access the elevator to the upper floors and the stairs. No housekeeping during the stay due to COVID, but the front desk was glad to supply whatever might be needed during the long weekend stay. Hyatt is still honoring their THANK YOU rates for healthcare providers. Thank you for offering this deal through June 2022.

We loved our large room. Lounging on the couch watching TV and eating a snack was relaxing. The bed was comfy.

We landed at Ronald Reagan National Airport, we booked a Lyft Driver at the Air and the Hotel was only about a 25 minute drive with traffic. The location of the hotel was within walking distance to a lot of sites. I felt safe walking to and from different locations. We didn't walk at night, it was too cold. There are E-Bikes and E-Scooters on the street for rent which is really helpful, but it snowed during our visit and I wasn't too sure how I'd make out. I felt safe in the area of the hotel and in the hotel as well. The hotel check-in is on the third floor and the staff at the front desk were very friendly, efficient and professional. We only had one bag each so it was easy to go directly to our room. If you have more luggage there are hotel rolling carts down at the entrance that are self service and free to use. Once you check in you'll need your room card to go up in the elevators to your room. We never had to wait long for the elevators. The complimentary breakfast was fine, they had a great assortment of breakfast items. The orange juice was great. The coffee is good, but for a fee you can order a Starbucks coffee drink as well. I had a hamburger and fries for dinner one evening and it was probably a 6 outta 10. I really enjoyed sitting at the bar at night having a few beers, they had a pretty good selection of beer. I wish that I could remember the Bartenders name, she was friendly, smiling and very efficient. When I found out there was a Fire station on the first floor of the hotel I was wondering how often I'd hear sirens going off in the night. I was pleasantly surprised I didn't hear any sirens at all the whole time we were there. It was pretty cool seeing the fire trucks down below our room window. The staff at the hotel were so friendly, always smiling and asking if you needed anything. I will definitely stay at the Hyatt Place National Mall Hotel in Washington DC again.

This place is one of the heartbeats of D.C. - because of the people that work here. We were here on a short vacation on the tail end of the fall and we were impressed by the front desk staff as well as the breakfast crew. There was never a time where we could say that the staff did not care about the guests - because at any given moment in time they would step up and show what hospitality was. Upon check in, we had a small issue with our reservation. For some reason, we were provided two reservation numbers with different rates assigned. Fortunately. The sweet front desk manager worked tirelessly to remedy the problem and helped us manage the ordeal with ease and never broke that sweet smile on her face. The other highlight of the trip was the breakfast service. The people that work during breakfast need a distinction all their own because they are in a class above everyone else. These wonderful individuals are caring, attentive and do their part in engaging with the guests. Keep in mind that we are experiencing record job demands and responsibilities- yet these hospitality professionals make sure that they are doing their very best. Every morning, I've been lucky enough to sit and have my coffee and eggs and they just take care of you. To the wonderful staff at the Hyatt on E Street, thank you for doing the little things that make a tourist like me enjoy one of my favorite hobbies and I hope that you all really enjoy this holiday season and years to come! Thank you for making me feel so blessed over the last few days!

The hostess was gracious and accommodating, and my server, Pierre T., was exceptional. He was attentive, patient, and genuinely hospitable throughout my visit. His service elevated an already enjoyable experience. I ordered the Poulet Rouge, and it was outstanding. The dish was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and incredibly moist--not dry in the slightest. It was one of those memorable meals that leaves a lasting impression. The portion was generous, and when I couldn't finish it, Pierre promptly provided a to-go box and bag without hesitation. What impressed me most is that this wasn't even the hotel's primary dining experience--it was Peacock Alley. If this level of food quality, service, and attention to detail is offered in the lounge, I can only imagine how exceptional the main dining experience must be. One note for management: while the overall atmosphere reflects the luxury and sophistication expected from a Waldorf Astoria property, the tables could use a refresh. I was surprised to see some peeling and wear on the tabletop surfaces, as it felt slightly out of place in such an otherwise upscale setting. Overall, a beautiful experience with excellent food, outstanding service from Pierre, and an atmosphere worthy of the Waldorf Astoria name. I look forward to returning and experiencing more of what the property has to offer.

The room rate was like $347. So, I pre-paid $47 for my stay and nothing more. I checked in around 3 PM-ish. I was told I got an upgraded room (FHR perk), but my room made me wonder what the others are like. Maybe the upgrade was a view of The Jefferson Memorial. The room itself surprised me because I expected a suite-style room with a separate are for sleeping and an area with a sofa. There was no sofa. There was a table and chairs. The walk-in shower was also smaller than I expected. The cordless phone didn't seem to work. The tv had lots of channels. The room has a modern lighting system. There's no pillow menu. You can make the room very dark with the curtains. The minibar wasn't stocked. As far as hotel amenities: I took a peek at the pool area. It looked like a vibe to chill on the loungers, but of course there were kids. The outdoor seating areas are pleasant. It's very easy to take a nice stroll to the marina and the wharf from the outdoor garden. Your room key opens the gate on the sidewalk. The lobby was bustling with people. Food: Room service breakfast (FHR perk) was great. Lunch at the hotel restaurant was great (cheeseburger sliders + brussel sprouts + a mocktail). Every day, I got two tickets for free wine or soda at the bar. It turned out I was able to use it for a mocktail (I don't do wine or soda). Dogon was yummy (I posted a separate review). Service: Everyone was genuinely hospitable and welcoming. My only gripe is that checkin and checkout is slooooooow. I waited in line to check in. One agent was talking to a couple for what seemed like forever. I eavesdropped and they were talking about sports and hometowns. It was very odd. My checkin had no problems but it still took maybe 10 min for the agent to click this and that and print this and that and go get this and that. When I tried to check out from my room on my tv, it didn't work. So, I went and got in line behind 5-6 people. I looked behind me a few min later and there were like 15 people in line behind me (it was 4 PM standard checkin time). The line moved very slowly. When I got to the agent, she was nice, there was some issue with my room charges not showing up, but she got me squared away. I think you would be mostly satisfied with your stay.

The spa experience was amazing - it is tucked away inside of the hotel and has two levels. I also experienced the dry sauna and vitality pool which was very clean and relaxing. The staff frequently cleans the areas and removes towels, etc to keep the areas clean. It was easy to check in and the staff was courteous and honored my AMEX benefits which was nice. I stayed in a king bedroom with waterfront view (upgraded through my AMEX benefits) and the room was bright, airy, and clean. There is 24 hour room service and I ordered a late night pizza and it was delivered within 30 minutes. The water pressure in the bathroom was good in both the shower and tub and the water gets very hot (which I personally enjoy). I did also utilize the gym (new gym equipment and all the machines and accessories for various types of movement and activity) and indoor pool area. The only thing taking away from my experience was the amount of younger guests during my stay (which I know cannot be controlled) however lounging in the pool area was not as relaxing and during breakfast there were younger guests open mouthed coughing in the buffet line and touching the utensils so there were just some food items I did not feel comfortable eating. Overall I had a great stay and would definitely stay again, recommend for out of town guests, or to visit for the spa experience alone. Valet was $86 to park overnight as of 4/7 $$$

That jetted tub was supposed to earn its keep. The room: genuinely beautiful. The technology: aggressively dated. The vibe: a 90s time capsule, complete with missing doorknobs. There was effort here, but it felt like the hotel was holding its breath, afraid any real investment might trigger the next recession. What they got right: The bellhops were fantastic. Warm, personable, fun. Truly the highlight. Most staff we interacted with were polite and willing to help, which made the gaps elsewhere even more confusing. What they got wrong (beyond the dated room and tech): For a hotel that loudly advertises luxury service, the customer experience fell flat. Outside of the arrival bowl of fruit, nothing felt elevated. Night two, we ordered pizza and planned a cozy Home Alone movie night. The technology made streaming impossible. Fine, cable it is. We called the concierge and asked for two plates. Just two. The answer was a flat no. We were told to walk down to the lobby restaurant and see if they might have plates "to spare." I'm sorry, what? The next morning, room service arrived... with someone else's order. It was corrected, but for a luxury hotel, that kind of miss is surprising. Housekeeping came through, but only halfway. The coffee and minibar were never restocked. In a suite. At a luxury hotel. This is table stakes. At 9:30 PM we stopped by the lobby circle bar. It was immediately clear the bartenders did not want to be there. I get it, service work is hard. Still, opening our interaction by warning us about last call at 11 set a strange tone. By 10:00, one bartender disappeared for 45 minutes. No refills. No check-in. No bill. Breaks are important. Coverage is also important, especially when you're selling a premium experience. Beyond the bellhops, much of the staff felt irritated to be present. Front desk to concierge, the energy was less "historic luxury hotel" and more "counting down the minutes." The hotel was also clearly prioritizing weekend tea and brunch revenue, to the point that the historic lobby was clogged with extra tables and largely unusable for actual hotel guests. Bottom line: this was not a luxury experience, and I would not recommend it. I'm only posting this publicly because I reached out directly to hotel management and never received a response. At that point, a review feels necessary.

The brick exterior coupled with the large white-walled interior provided the perfect "blank canvas" to backdrop our event. We hosted nearly 100 people and had plenty of room for a live band and bar. The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

We chose the North Hall because of the brick exterior, urban feel and large space -- big enough for 200 people. Weddings can be expensive and after an exhausted search we found that the North Hall was the best option. We are so glad we chose to host our wedding reception here! I would recommend this place for any business or social function. A few side notes: The parking was not a problem and the staff was extremely helpful. The bill is in some what of an a la cart format so try to get ALL the fees up front. Be sure to stick to the allotted timeframe so you don't have extra rental hour fees. Go with the bulb lighting!
