Stayed here again a year later and everything about the first time is pretty accurate. Fairfield fixed their card issues which was great! Service was good and the hotel room was clean. A couple small knocks this time. The Internet was abysmal this time around and the water had a weird smell to it. The stay wasn't too long and maybe this was more so due to the freezing weather but just a couple small knocks. Overall, still a great place to be at if you're visiting DC! I was pleased to have found this hotel in a downtown location at a reasonable rate. It is in DC's very modest Chinatown, which is an evidence in the decor. The problem was that stuff just didn't work. Even with my reward status entitling me to an upgrade to the higher speed Internet, I experienced frequent interruptions in service. It wasn't realistic to expect to stream something or to do teleconferencing. Having a suite with a desk is nice, but you can't bank on being able to telework from that desk. Additionally, this place had the older style locks which require a key card to be inserted into them. These key cards apparently cannot handle being near anything electronic or magnetic, and I had to get them reactivated several times. It also means that you can't have the mobile key on your phone. They charge a ton for valet parking but if you are clever about it, there are other ways of doing it and in the worst case just going into a paid garage nearby is going to be a lot cheaper. read more

Location is the best part of this hotel! If you have an event at Capital One Arena this is easily in walking distance. Many restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well. My room seemed to have an electrical issue where the only outlet working was in the bathroom. Thankfully I brought a portable charger to keep my phone charged during the night. Front desk was friendly and welcoming, as well as security when we arrived back at the hotel late night after an event. Valet parking attendant that night is really influencing my rating here. Very curt, abrasive, and just overall not friendly or welcoming. I'm not sure if he was not having a good evening or if this is the norm. When I mentioned it to the front desk she seemed to laugh it off, so I guess there was nothing she could do. The attendant at check out was much more friendly, helped with our bags and made sure we didn't need anything else before getting into our cars. Definitely made up for the previous day's valet experience. I had to stop by a few days later while in town for work due to being double charged for parking and the same friendly attended took down my information and gave me a POC number to call if I didn't see the charges fixed within a few business days. I definitely appreciate the time he took to ensure that my issue was going to be taken care of. read more

I stayed at this location last week while in town for work. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were all very helpful. The included breakfast was top notch, as far as hotel breakfasts go, which a large and varied selection of options. The room was relatively large; some king rooms are all bed. The closet was tiny - about the width of two ironing boards and the depth of a shoes. There wasn't a refrigerator or microwave, but there was a coffee maker. My only real complaint about the room was the dim lighting. There was an entry way light and a sconce on either side of the bed, but even with all three on it was a struggle to see well enough to iron clothing effectively, etc. I was surprised to see a ring light bolted to the work station, and thought that was a nice touch for anyone who may be working from the room. The area does get a bit noisy at night, with lots of foot traffic and sirens. Overall it was a good stay. read more

A great location and facility to stay. Just few minutes walk from a Metro station to access all parts of DC, valet parking with unlimited in and out, complimentary breakfast, well maintained hotel. Overall we had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. Our rooms were clean, everything worked well. The breakfast was good. We got to enjoy full Chinatown experience, walked to CityCenter and Ford Theater from the hotel. We took Metro from Gallery Pl (next to hotel) to Arlington and was able see visit National mall area without taking our car. Capital One arena is also next to the hotel where Washington's hockey and basketball teams play. Beside all the advantages, this area does have some scratchy people constantly hanging out around and near the hotel, as well as the Metro station. read more

Staff is really friendly. We got an inspiration speech from a breakfast morning crew (I think it's so nice and funny). An OK place to stay in Chinatown DC. Friendly service and free breakfast! The hotel is located in chinatown conveniently next to a bunch of Chinese restaurants. But in the evening, I did not feel safe walking around in the area, so I made sure I ate before dark! The rooms are the typical Marriott layout and bedding. The only thing I wish was if the AC was less noisier. It is a window unit that would cycle on and off throughout the night. This hotel is located in my old neiborhood and is familiar to me because I used to live in China Town so needless to say I was extremely happy. location is AMAZING only a block away from Chinatown metro station and half block from Capital One Arena. You can get From Regan 30 minutes max or Dulles airport 45 min max for only 2 dollars so don't gotgrt to get ur physical or digital metro card, 8 dollars for day pass and ride the metro as much as u want or just 2 dollars each ride if u want. This hotel has the advantage to have restaurants from around the world just a few steps away. It's awful!! The rooms smell horrible. It's a mix between mold and armpits. The management is indifferent to the smell, and the Assistant General Managerl Darrell Trice doesn't believe ppl should be accommodated for the odor. We eventually hear to leave for another hotel because the odor causesd my 75yo mother to have a headache. Completely disgusting as well. The floors in the bedroom needed sweeping and the bathroom was poorly stocked with only 2 sets of towels in a double room and only one roll of toilet paper. This is a great place to stay. They are located in Chinatown, which gives you close access to many restaurants. If you are a good walker, you are walking distance to all the museums. It's two stops on the Metro, to the train station. It's a short walk from the Metro to the hotel They give you a fantastic complimentary breakfast every day. Avoid This Hotel - Poor Management, Housekeeping, and a Rodent Problem If you're considering this hotel, think again. While the location is great, the management is terrible, and housekeeping is even worse. The worst part? We woke up at 3 AM to the sound of a mouse running around our room. We caught it, placed it in a bag, and contacted maintenance--only to be told to leave it in the hallway. Really? Upon further inspection, we discovered mouse droppings in multiple areas of the room--on the 8th floor! If mice are making it this high up, it's clear this hotel has a serious infestation problem. And where there's one, there are many more. On top of that, the toilet wobbled, the shower diverter was broken, and the window sills looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. Overall, a disgusting and unacceptable experience. When we brought this to the front desk's attention, their response was simply, "We are in the city." As if that justifies rodents in the rooms! After pushing to speak with a manager, we were given the runaround until Darrell Trice, the Assistant Manager, finally addressed us. He offered a single free night and claimed that was all he could do. We requested a call from the General Manager, Ebony Moore, but--no surprise--she never reached out. It's clear that guest concerns are not a priority here. To top it off, they have a sign at the front desk asking guests to rate them all 10s on the survey--and if not, to simply ignore the survey. That says everything you need to know about how they operate. Bottom line: There are plenty of other hotels to choose from. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but here. read more

The staff at this hotel was very friendly. Shout out to Erica, who checked us in and also assisted us with an issue at the end of our stay. Our room was clean and had two queen beds, min refrigerator and microwave. The rooms are good size and for a city hotel. The bathroom was nice and had all the amenities. The shower was very good and the hot water was there on demand. The free breakfast checked all the boxes. Coffee, juice, milk, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, fruit, pastries, bagels, oatmeal, and of course waffles. The location is excellent if you are looking for the tourist things of DC. The National Mall is less than a mile away. Lots of museums within an easy walk. If you need the metro, Gallery Place stop is less than a 3 minute walk away. read more

Stayed here for the weekend before a week long work trip in Virginia. The staff are SO friendly, really made our whole stay. Deon is the nicest, most kind human and everyone really was welcoming and friendly. We asked for a fridge in our room and it was up less than 5 minutes later. The breakfast options are amazing and there is plenty of seating. I enjoyed the hot cocoa every morning. I have a couple gripes, but not worthy of less stars. -The king size bed fills the entire room, so it is very small with no space to lounge or walk really. -the AC unit was really loud and never really shut off. -the hotel is located in Chinatown. There was constant drumming on the streets which was really annoying. The Tv wouldn't even drown the sound out. -be vigilant. The neighborhood is ghetto and there are a lot of questionable people on the streets. -the gym is small but gets the job done. Food recommendation: walk down the street and try Daikaya. I read review of hotel it was great so I booked 1 night. But my day wasn't good. First,check in was great ! person who worked at the hotel ( I didn't get her name) was very kind and funny . Kindly she gave me a upgrade room... and room was far a way from the elevator... my favorite .. open the door and look ok nice room great but tv didn't work.. oh no.. SNL! But ok. I know they are repeat. Sleep very well . Very nice bed.. in the morning went gym. Cold inside 63 degree but out side is 23 degree so it was very freezing very cold gym room. But I thought this cold wether if room temperature is cold May be water pipe going to burst... ( I didn't think that moment) any way after yoga I went breakfast area. It was good on Christmas Day crowded but ok people think eating place are closing today so secure to eat!! Usual chain breakfast. But after eat ,back to the room want to take shower so turn hot water .... Not come. No hot water at all . wait 3,4,5 minutes still not coming. So I decided not take shower . Rubbing my body with Luke warm water from sink. I wash my hair at the sink!! It's ok I did washed ! Dryer work very well . But check out time . Review of my stay on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. 2-star rating due to customer service issues. Hotel itself was nice, very clean all around. Room comfortable. Furniture appeared in great shape, linen very clean. Only negative note about the room was a couple pieces of long hair found on the bathroom counter and the sink. Otherwise, the room was very clean. Hotel is located right down the street from Capital One Arena, which is perfect. Other DC attractions are nearby. Parking garages within walking distance. There is an Irish pub attached to the property. Appeared to be a nice place, but I was only there for two beers and will not waste time writing a review. Now, the negative points, all customer service related, which made for an uncomfortable stay. Upon my arrival, there was not a noticeable sign as to where to park, at least it was not in sufficient view and too many people were walking. So, I had no other choice but to slide into a valet spot. The valet parking attendant starting barking at me within seconds. His outrage caused me to hit the parking block with my front bumper (zero damage, so no worries). I barked back, which he did not like. I couldn't have cared less for his thoughts. He was rude and unprofessional, threatened to have my car towed. Of note - evidently the only place to pull into is the "drive" by the front entrance. Who would know that? When I checked in, the young lady was not professional either. Had a poor attitude when I asked about the hotel's plan for guest parking. I was told to park in one of the parking garages nearby or go with the overpriced valet options. The clerk provided very poor directions to the closest parking garage. She did not provide a map, nor did she take the initiative to write down directions. Considering the price of a night's stay, and it's great location, guests of this hotel deserve a lot better, especially being a Marriott chain! Hotel website does not state other parking options, only their overpriced valet parking. This is misleading for customers. I have contacted Marriott about my issues with these two staff members. First time that I've contacted any chain with regards to issues. I hope to update this review to provide a more positive review. That's if Marriott is able to work my complaint in a satisfactory manner. I'm no fan of the District. If I head back to that area of DC for only a sporting event, I'll stay elsewhere. My travel buddy and I as of late have had a run of good luck. We thought it ran out when we checked into the last hotel, but we're back baby! Lets start with money. Two single mothers planning a budget trip with 3 expensive little girls. We definitely picked New York as the place to splurge big time for our hotel, this was not one of them but it absolutely felt like we did. I'm most assured I got more than my moneys worth. We did end up paying about 10 bucks more for parking than we were originally quoted they didn't inform us that big vehicles get an extra charge, and we were driving a Sequoia. Still worth the money, valet, front door service, they helped with the luggage. Location: Perfect! DC is small enough I can't imagine anyone being upset about any location in the city but ours was the BEST. Skateboard ride away from China Town, the best restaurant in the city Busboys and Poets. Really we walked to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, The United States Capital, The White House. We walked until we could walk no more. Then the complimentary breakfast. It's the best complimentary breakfast without offering the Texas Shaped Waffles. An Employee of Fairfield Inn welcomed everyone to breakfast. He grabbed everyone's attention when he introduced himself, I missed his name because I didn't think his speech was going to be so touching. He introduced other staff, people in the kitchen that morning, Yoko, Lauren, Wayne... etc. Thank you to the Chef there was more options than expected. I don't know if he does this every day or if he did it because Thanksgiving was around the corner. He encouraged everyone to eat to our hearts content by saying "Eat all you like and like all you eat!" He then spoke of paying it forward, and Loving everyone and there was nothing we could do about it! Other over and beyond moves were the extra towels they brought to our rooms and putting us in a very comfortable luxurious suite with a view of the Beautiful Saint Mary Mother of God Catholic Church. I was only a guest at Fairfield Inn & Suites, DC, for two days. There happened to be a group of young people and teenagers, running around with very little supervision, as they commandeered the lobby and the elevators willy nilly, while I was a guest there. None of the adults in the room really cared that this group of young people had no manners and no sense of how to be polite and not attract negative attention in public, way past their curfew. On my 2nd day, this group showed up (you couldn't help but notice) and ran up and down the lobby while you a.) stood at the front desk b.) stood at the elevator c.) stood on the elevator and/or d.) tried to have a conversation with any of the hotel staff. At one point I actually asked the front desk agent, probably a little too loud, not even trying to use my quiet voice, "Do these kids have parents?" to which he promptly and calmly responded, "Yes, they are here with a guardian." In fact, I give the front desk attendant ALL the credit for being an incredibly patient man with all of us! I wish I had gotten his name because he was the most patient, compassionate hospitality industry staff member I think I've ever come across. He was amazing. But then, literally, right after this exchange, I got onto an elevator to return to my room, and a pre-teen looking kid got onto the elevator, pushed the 5th floor, got back off of the elevator, turned around, and then just stared me down. As if to say, "How you like me now?" as the elevator doors closed. So playing 5 year old tricks on the Fairfield Inn guests was apparently the priority at 10 o'clock at night. * Not in the mood face * One evening I came out of my room and there was a pile of towels from the room next to mine's bathroom, thrown out onto the 6th floor hallway. And they just sat there all evening (I posted a video of this). These are the bath towels that us guests are given to actually USE! Yet, THERE THEY WERE! ON THE HALLWAY FLOOR! It was really disturbing and unhygienic. Despite all of the above the staff were really great, and the location is perfect. Right in the middle of DC's Chinatown, so there are lots of wonderful restaurant options to choose from, just try not to think about how disgusting the towels are while eating. read more

I had a great experience staying here for a friends wedding! I did have to switch rooms while there, my first room the ac unit sounded like an airplane taking off. They kindly moved me within the hour to a room down the hall that was much quieter. The staff was super helpful! The rooms were clean and comfortable, though the did lack a mini fridge. Closet space was also minimal if you happened to be coming for a professional event. Overall, it was a great stay and staff made things very easy. read more

The staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in was very quick and since I'm a silver member I was greeted with a little baggie with 2 water bottles, a fortune cookie, and a nice letter. That was a nice touch. I jumped in the shower as soon as I got to my room after traveling all day. Unfortunately, the drain was clogged and by the end of the shower I was standing in water up to my ankles - EW! That was a huge bummer for me. Besides that the room was clean. The bathroom and closet are a bit small but big enough for what the typical person probably needs at a hotel. This was my first time visiting D.C this past weekend and this location made it easier to visit tourist attractions with public transportation, the arena being around the corner (police reinforcements was a plus ) and it's a 15 minute walk from Union Station. Let me start with the complimentary breakfast. Cafe was open at 7am with various option such as eggs, home fries, bagels, muffins, coffee and my favorite.. the waffle maker. Staff were very friendly and very approachable. They helped us with any questions and they stored our luggage in order for us to explore D.C some more. We booked one room with a king size bed and a sofa at reasonable price. The bathroom was included with full bottles of body soap, shampoo and conditioner attached to the wall shower. The valet was a cluster and very frustrating for those waiting during rush hour as everyone had to double park and it seemed like the valet team was very confused and not organized. This Fairfield leaves A LOT to be desired. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was for the location because it was great walking distance to most places in DC. First off, don't ever book through a third party if you want Marriott to be helpful. We booked through Priceline because Marriott wouldn't match their price. For some reason, the front desk could not update our credit card on file from the Priceline card used. It turned into a half hour ordeal upon check-in for US to call Priceline, then sit on hold for Priceline to call the lady in front me to resolve. Very annoying! Luckily our room was ready even though we were early so that was a plus. The rooms need updating though! Let me tell you, the lobby is updated and can get your hopes up. Don't let it fool you! Our room was musty, and the bathroom was really bad! See photos. Mildew on the curtain and in the corner. Felt gross to shower. We were only there two nights so we sucked it up. Next time we will stay at the Hyatt Regency though. I'm an elite member of Marriott by the way and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with Marriott. I love Marriott usually but definitely not this one. They didn't add my rewards number like I asked either so that was fun the other day contacting the hotel to email the bill I should've already been emailed for them to tell me to call Priceline to have it emailed. I am so disgusted in this hotel. Our room has not been cleaned since we checked in on Sunday March 28. We asked and were told rooms are cleaned every 7 days !!! What ???? Due to COVID they are leaving trash in our rooms, used towels on the ground and unkept rooms as is. Unbelievable! We will not be staying in a Marriott hotel anytime in the near future. This was my first time staying at the Fairfield Inn brand. I usually stay at other Marriott brands. I was very pleased with the stay. I had used my Marriott free stay certificate at this hotel and chose it based upon the location and amenities considering it was a one night stay in DC. Check In: check in was easy and I was able to check in several hours before the check in time which I loved. Room: room was a two queen bed. It was small but as to be expected in a city. Plus we weren't spending a lot of time in the room so no major complaints. The beds were comfortable. The pillows sucked. The AC was old so we had to turn it way down for it to feel decent which was fine. The bathroom was average. Room includes a microwave and mini fridge. Tv didn't have a lot of hi def channels but again no big deal since we barely stayed in there. The wifi was horrible. Breakfast: the breakfast was slightly modified as a result of covid. But it was extremely lackluster. Bagels, muffins and cereal. So while I get it's modified because of covid but then why keep the area so tight where crowds form along with having it be self serve. If modifications were made because of covid regarding the type of food offered then why weren't modifications made in the serving of the food? Makes no sense. Staff: all staff were great no complaints they were beyond friendly and nice. Location: so the location is in Chinatown (right on outskirts). It's convenient as you are close to everything. A lot of restaurants and bars nearby. Uber drivers were ready for pick up in less than 5 minutes. It does get a little seedy at night but nothing that made me feel unsafe typical city stuff. I did see a needle on the sidewalk across the street but again city stuff and standard societal woes. There is a nearby Walgreens and we went there for convenient snacks. We did walk there late in the evening and never felt unsafe. I know some prior reviews cited safety concerns but I never felt them on a late Saturday night going to and from the hotel. Early check in through app and room was ready on time. Clean and comfy. Staff was courteous and attentive. Valet parking is pretty much what you could do on your own by reserving a spot in one of the many garages for a lot cheaper. The absolute highlight of the stay was in the morning. While everyone was enjoying the complimentary breakfast Mr. Deon (one of the staff) gave a little morning pep talk, welcoming everyone and offering the names of all the staff working that morning. He exuded joy and made everyone smile. If I ever need to come back to DC I will be staying here again just because of Mr. Deon! He was a blessing and I hope the management doesn't take him for granted. read more
