We stayed at the Inn last night while on a road trip and going through Princeton. Lydia was so friendly and gracious during our stay. We were greeted with homemade chocolate chip cookies and water carafes in our suite. The great room was very cozy and had complimentary tee, coffee, hot chocolate, and red wine. We stayed in a two room suite which had a modern bathroom with homemade soaps and fluffy towels. Everything was exceptionally clean and the sheets were very soft. However, we were in the front section of the original home and the road noise was pretty loud all night long and the feather mattresses weren't particularly comfortable. In the morning Lydia made us the most delicious breakfast. We had homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, homemade granola, toast, steel cut oats with honey butter, yummy homemade jams, delicious coffee, and a variety of fresh juices. Our meal was topped off with the richest Java truffle. We greatly enjoyed our stay and will be back again soon! read more

We had a fabulous stay at the Inn at Glencairn. Every detail--from the freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies greeting us upon arrival to the silky soft sheets--created a welcoming environment and made for a memorable stay. Chef and innkeeper extraordinare Lydia goes above and beyond to care for her guests, including by serving one of the best breakfasts we've ever had! Lydia provides guests with 3 choices for breakfast. I ordered the steel-cut oats with honey butter and sugared pecans. It came with fresh fruit, absolutely delicious bread with homemade jams, homemade yogurt and granola, tasty coffee, and fresh juice -- all topped off with a homemade java truffle. This was truly a 5-star dining experience that I will be dreaming of for weeks to come. We hope to be back again soon! read more

It has been a while, but I had the privilege of staying at the Inn at Glencairn again this past weekend. I had been looking forward to this for weeks since I made my reservation and we got completely lucky with the weather this past weekend. What an amazing place to just enjoy nature - yes the birds were still in their glory - gliding on the cool breezes while we enjoyed watching them while sitting on the back patio. Inside the inn was warm, welcoming, civil, calming. The few guest that were there seemed to be in lovely spirits enjoying this spot rich full of history and the lovely environs. The breakfasts are still amazing - just as I remembered from my last visit. The inn is located perfectly outside the hustle and bustle.. driving up the long, wooded driveway, and parking easily on-site is the perfect way to begin my jaunt. Unpack, read, relax. And with any luck.. repeat. I wish I could get around to the inn more often. I feel completely rejuvenated and refreshed. I believe that the Inn at Glencairn is good for my soul. read more

I had a lovely experience at the Inn at Glencairn. I was in town for a conference at The College of New Jersey. It was about a 12-15 minute drive from the Inn. I stayed Halloween night and wanted something quiet so that I could work and rest up for the conference. I wasn't planning to do breakfast in the morning but the conference food was so meh that I decided I would need to fill up in the morning, and I am so glad that I did! I had a hearty breakfast with egg, a thick slice of fresh bread, avocado, fresh juices, a homemade parfait and the softest most delicious chocolate truffle. I was quite satisfied and it kept me fueled for my social time at the conference. There was plenty of spacious parking, the grounds were beautiful, especially with the fall leaves, the house was immaculate and quiet. There was wine and comfy places to sit. I had two luxurious showers during my stay with hand made soaps and plenty of room in my room to stretch out and enjoy. The bed and the sheets were just so comfortable. I wish I could have had another night but it was time to head home. Lydia was pleasant and helpful and very kind. I will definitely stay here again next time the conference comes around! read more

This was our third stay at the Inn where lovely Lydia is the Innkeeper. It's a quiet, restful, comfortable place where great attention is paid to thoughtful amenities and beautiful, delicious breakfasts. Coffee, tea and an assortment of red wines are complimentary and always available. The beds are comfy and the bed linens wrap you in luxurious softness. The Inn is located near Princeton, NJ with its many fine restaurants and the lovely university campus to explore. Even closer to the Inn is the village of Lawrenceville. Our favorite cafe is Vidalia with a lively outdoor seating area and a varied and interesting menu. Service is friendly and well paced. My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at the Inn at Glencairn this last weekend for our 13th wedding anniversary. We choose to stay here due to its proximity to Princeton and wanting to try out a Bed & Breakfast for the first time. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived. The historic house has been updated without losing any of its original charm. Lydia the Innkeeper & Chef is an extraordinary individual who was attentive, friendly, and a fabulous breakfast connoisseur. The two breakfasts that we were able to have were excellent, complex, and delightful. We would highly recommend staying here and are looking forward to a return trip. read more

Best BnB place I've ever been to! (Little bias here bc it was my first). But no really, I felt so comfortable and welcomed like it was my own home. I've always thought staying at a BnB would feel like I'm staying at a strangers home & would feel uncomfortable using the common areas. I was totally wrong! First of all, Lydia the inn keeper is very accommodating. She was very flexible with preparing breakfast earlier than scheduled. For day 1 she prepared an excellent breakfast in the formal dining room: A peach compote to start with. Then a croissant sandwich with a poached egg, crispy prosciutto, mushrooms, greens & hollandaise sauce, & ended with a homemade chocolate truffle. Dinner was served in the great room. Apple bacon cheese bisque & seasonal salad with pomegranate, blackberries, & nuts were prepared. It sounded like a light dinner, but it was definitely filling & delicious. Day 2 breakfast- granola fruit yogurt & pumpkin pancakes with crispy bacon. And of course ended with her famous homemade chocolate truffle. The 1730's Gregorian Manor is obviously well maintained; keeping its historical structure and features along with added modern touches provided the most comfortable stay. It's a great escape from the city to unwind & relax in such a peaceful clean environment. On top of it all, Lydia is a joy to talk to. She's super hospitable. Would absolutely come back! read more

Wonderful long weekend at the Inn in February. It was the first time I sleep through the night in months. The bed was very comfortable, and the Inn was quiet. Breakfast was good. I tried all three versions, minus the meat. I don't eat pork and Lydia was kind enough to get turkey for me as a replacement. We will be back God willing. read more

The Inn At Glencairn was terrific. We took all the rooms at the Inn for a pre-Thanksgiving family weekend. We had 5 adults and 5 children and had a wonderful time. The Inn is well kept and has a very close location to downtown Princeton! Best of all the Inn Keeper, Lydia, was attentive yet discrete. My husband and I had such a wonderful stay here! The Inn is charming, (from the 1700's,) we loved the crown molding, the old wood floors, the fireplaces... even the door locks to the rooms! We were celebrating my birthday and Lydia baked a chocolate cake and had it waiting for us in our room for after we returned from dinner, (with fresh raspberries and ice cold milk!) It was amazing! I can't decide if that or the breakfast the next morning was my favorite part - her cooking was out of this world. It was our first trip anywhere since Covid and we felt totally pampered and comfortable. My only regret is not having booked more than one night there - definitely would love to go back the next time we want a romantic weekend away from the kids! read more

We have always considered The Inn at Glencairn our home away from home in the Princeton area but this weekend it was even more special. Lydia the caretaker there always treats her guests like you would treat a beloved guest in your home. She always makes beautiful breakfasts and the rooms are always gracious - the downstairs common living room is so charming and warm and welcoming - historic and lovely in decor - with bottles of wine, fresh fruit, home made cookies, coffee, hot cocoa....available for the taking...but all that aside... This weekend I arrived there after a harrying 3.5 hour traffic jam ride in pouring rain which made me miss a meeting and had no dinner by 9pm...when we walked in I just looked at her and I said "Lydia I need a hug!" and without a second thought she gave me a hug and pointed me toward all the yummy stuff in the common area. Then when I got upstairs I realized I forgot our wall plug for our charger and she found one to lend me. Then on my whoopsie-roll I realized that I never printed out something I needed for the next morning and Lydia printed it out for me. The next morning she served my son and I the most delicious breakfast as always and knew we were heading to an early test, so she got us out of there quickly and well fed. I can't say enough about the Glencairn. Not only is Lydia the definition of gracious and welcoming and kind, but the Inn itself is so sweet and pretty and comfortable. The Inn at Glencairn is a beautiful and elegantly-restored house from the 1700's. It is on spacious grounds and it is delightful in every way. There is a great deal of space, and Covid protections are superb and scrupulously followed. It is a short drive to Princeton, where all kinds of activities abound. We had a wonderful one night getaway at Glencairn - our first overnight since Covid began. Lydia was a delight to deal with both in advance of our stay and during our stay as well. She answered all of our questions about Covid precautions as well as sending a very comprehensive email outlining the careful concern that she was taking for each guest as well as herself. We felt reassured with her attention to detail and appreciated her approach to the general uncertainties we are all living with these days. Our room was spotless and charming and bathroom spic and span clean. Lydia gave us a few wonderful dinner recommendations and we chose Vidalia a very short drive down the road. Again - Covid precautions foremost in our minds and we were able to eat outside, no other diners were close to us and we had an absolutely delicious meal. Breakfast in the morning again was handled with the utmost of care for which we were most appreciative. The food was delicious, fresh and homemade and we left with a feeling that we had been able to have a nice getaway and yet feel comfortable that we were being safe and mindful of all the risks associated with this pandemic. We cannot say enough about Lydia and Glencairn and would recommend for anyone looking for a safe, relaxing and oh-so-comfortable getaway. read more

My boyfriend and I came here after winning a gift certificate in a silent auction and I am so glad we did. The Inn is beautiful - so charming, especially at Christmas time. And Patty & Mason were so welcoming and helpful, ready for suggestions on how to spend your time and eager to find out a bit more about their guests. We stayed in the Hunt room, which I believe is the only king suite in the Inn - it was SO comfortable and cozy. I could've stayed there forever. Everything was pristine and no details were overlooked. It's also in a great location, less than 10 minutes away from downtown Princeton which has great restaurants and the beautiful grounds of Princeton University to see. Patty made a delicious breakfast for us the next morning, and I have to add the coffee was a pleasant surprise - so delicious! I stayed for a night at the Inn at Glencairn and only wish I could have stayed longer. Patty and Mason were immaculate hosts--helpful and knowledgeable, but never overbearing. They told me me about the history of the property (fascinating) and were forthcoming with tips and necessities as needed. They accommodated my very specific dietary needs, and even went out of their way to learn more so they could accommodate guests like me in the future. The property itself is beautiful--quiet, elegant, and historical--and furnished with lovely, luxurious touches at every turn. I recently stayed at the Inn at Glencairn, had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it! This historic Inn is lovely and the wooded property is so peaceful. The rooms and attached bathrooms are clean and beautifully decorated with antiques. The beds and linens are fresh and very high quality offering a restful night sleep. I grew up in Princeton and don't get back often enough. I didn't want to stay in a big, commercial hotel. Staying at the Inn at Glencairn felt like I was welcomed into someone's home largely due to the warm greeting from the Innkeepers, Patty and Mason. Patty is an awesome cook and so sweet. Each morning I had fresh fruit with yogurt and a delicious ham and egg "bird's nest" creation one morning and decadent French toast the next. Mason is wonderful and runs around keeping the place in order inside and out. They truly want their guests to feel comfortable and welcome. Each night I returned to the Inn and enjoyed a glass of wine and chocolate chip cookies and flipped through the NY Times in their common Sitting Room which dates back to 1736. The history, comfort and warmth of this Inn was a highlight of my trip back "home". read more

My mother and I stayed here over New Year's Eve. It was just the cozy, quaint, charming winter experience I was hoping for. Patty and Mason were so kind and accommodating, and we loved ringing in the New Year with them. Patty is a great cook and breakfast was a treat. Mason knows a lot about the history of the place, which I love hearing about. We were staying in the Opdyke room (not confident about the spelling), which is Room #1. It had an original water basin from when the house was built hundreds of years ago. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer, which was an us problem, not a them problem! We have stayed at Glencairn several times during every season over the last four years while my daughter attended college nearby. We are enthralled with the inn and it's history. It is a comfortable, quiet and cozy place to stay in all seasons. Lydia is an amazing innkeeper who greets you with friendly hospitality and cooks a breakfast you will remember forever. Once we ordered a special dinner for a special occasion and we are still talking about it. The sitting areas, with tea, coffee and wine provide for an evening of relaxation and conversation. Incredible experience!! The Inn is exceptionally clean and welcoming. The outside is tremendously kept up, tranquil, and breathtaking to look at. I hate bed and breakfasts, but I got this for my wife as a gift for Mother's Day because she loves them. I still generally dislike bed and breakfasts; but I LOVE this place and will return as frequently as possible. The Inn is a flawless place to stay at, but Lydia makes it a flawless home! We've stayed at the Inn three times: twice in the Hunt room and once in the Gulick. The Hunt has the only king-sized bed. Both rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. Lydia, the Inn keeper is very nice, accommodating, and one hell of a chef! The house and common areas are also nicely decorated and contain lots of great art by local artists, snacks, wine, and tea/coffee. The grounds are gorgeous and reminiscent of days gone bye.
