I stayed here for work, I arrived just after 10pm and the bar/restaurant was closed already. Security guard is watching the front door because there's so many homeless around, so I definitely wasn't going to walk near by for a drink or food. I don't know Rochester well but doesn't seem like the best area. Check in process was easy and no issues there. My room was clean, bed was comfy and I slept fairly well. Sound travels very easily though so I woke up early to neighbors laughing, doors slamming, etc. even though I was playing white noise on my phone to try and minimize that. Walls are super thin. Shower water did get very hot which was great. It seemed like the AC stopped working and my room got very hot the second night which was not fun. I will not be a returning guest. Why, you ask? Read below to find out. During our (hubby & I) 2 night stay (Friday, 02/09/24-Sunday, 02/11/24) at this hotel location this was our experience - ---- Roach in room: we were given a room on the 21st floor (room 2107) & when we 1st walked in, we really liked our room. It was big & had cool led lighting that lit up the room w/out being too bright. The window view was great, overlooking downtown Rochester BUT then we see a small roach start crawling out of the corner. There was no way, I could stay in that room & feel comfortable, so my hubby went to the front desk to talk w/ them about switching rooms. The front desk staff was friendly & helpful w/ giving us a different room located on the 10th floor. Despite the 2nd room having no signs of any insects, I was unable to feel fully comfortable/relaxed during our stay. Thankfully, we were out sightseeing the majority of the time & it was a short 2 night stay. ---- Loud in room: I fully agree w/ previous reviews given about the walls being VERY thin & being able to hear everything from the rooms next door (people talking & tv). To combat this, I played brown noise on my phone at night when we were going to sleep. Sounds from our hotel neighbors weren't the only loud noises that we had to deal with. The ac fan in our room was very loud & made a banging noise each time it would come on. It was so loud that it actually made me jump a few times from the unexpected loud sound. ---- outlets next to bed on both sides didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones at night, next to us if we were wanting to use our phone as an alarm ---- Outdated/ Inaccurate Starbucks signage still being displayed in hotel despite there no longer being a Starbucks on-site. My hubby actually went looking for the Starbucks before being told that Starbucks is no longer there. (See pic included in this review of inaccurate signage) Hotel management should really put up a new sign letting guests know that Starbucks is closed. There were a few other issues w/ this hotel location (ie. additional parking garage fee of $6 to get out of parking garage because parking pass given didn't work) but you get the gist of why I will not being a returning guest to this hotel location. One bottle of complimentary water for a two-bed room. Elevator not working and so guided by signage down a serpentine route of stairs and filthy halls back to the lobby. No microwave. Truly not up to Hyatt standards. It lacked refinement, cleanliness and hospitality that I would expect from the Hyatt brand. The lighting was cold and fluorescent, the decor was dingy and damaged, and overall just not a comfortable stay. The bathroom was the best part of the room and I appreciated that there was a mini fridge and iron in every room but overall when I walked in I was a little disappointed. This is not what I was expecting from a Hyatt. This hotel is dingy and has very few amenities. The bathrooms don't have exhaust fans, but we had to keep the door closed to keep our baby from crawling into it. As a result there were droplets of moisture everywhere and the toilet paper became damp. It felt like a bacteria breeding ground. Most hotels sell some basic convenience items like OTC medicine, but this one doesn't. I needed Advil in the middle of the night and was disappointed that I couldn't purchase it here. Their coffee stall also was closed at 3:30pm on a Saturday which is ridiculous. Judging this hotel is tricky. It's certainly not a great Hyatt Regency overall but for a depressed market like Rochester it's not bad. The property has zero curb appeal for sure. From street level it's almost unlabeled except for the parking entrance which is currently the only entrance for pedestrians OR cars. You can take the elevator TO the ground floor from upper floors but the exit is emergency only and while there was a Starbucks at one time, it is not there now making the ground floor essentially useless. Thankfully, things are better from the lobby up. The lobby is nice enough and has a bar and some food service which we didn't try. Our room was very good. Clean, spacious and, being on the 20th floor, had a good view down the street it was lined up with. The HVAC cycled on and off frequently to keep our room cool but it wasn't unusually loud and the air conditioning was quite frigid which makes me think it would be up to even the hottest Rochester days. The bathroom was stylish but lacked a fan. Also, the toilet is a residential style toilet that flushed very slowly and seemed like it could plug easily. The bed was very comfortable but noises from the hallway were far too easy to hear despite us being at the end of a hall. The large TV had exceptionally robust speakers which I appreciate because hotel TV"s often sound very thin and tinny. The TV also lets you use your Netflix or YouTube or a few other accounts to stream content which is nice. I had one request from housekeeping which was for an extra pillow. My first attempt, by phone, resulted in nothing. After an hour I headed to the lobby to request it in person. When nothing happened for 20 minutes or more, I went to bed without the extra pillow. Finally, when I was almost asleep the knock came at the door. Overall I think this hotel matches the city it's in. Deeply flawed but tolerable. Better than you expect in some ways, worse in others. Overall, unless you have a specific downtown destination I would just stay in the suburbs. Rochester is kind of a failed city and the dining and nightlife aren't going to impress very many visitors. The area has plenty of attractions and lots of natural features but downtown is hard to recommend. read more

We were not thrilled with our visit here. With no bathroom fan and housekeeping only after three days, we felt like we were just living with our trash and dirty towels getting damper by the moment. We expected to be pampered for this price, and found the lack of nice soaps, an extra towel, and even trash removal to be unsettling. The furniture and such was not in great shape either. Not the greatest experience I've ever had at a Hyatt Regency. The location & clean rooms are what's positive about this Rochester hotel. I stayed there a week. The staff wasn't particularly friendly... the staff at restaurant attached to this Hyatt were also not friendly... heck, even the employees who worked in the Starbucks attached to the hotel weren't friendly. Friendliest staff award goes to house keeping. Sadly, they have an issue with homeless people hanging out in the lobby asking for money. I was approached twice in the lobby. Extremely disappointing. For a Hyatt Regency this was a horrible experience. Starting with the oddly configured room... though there was nice amount of countertop... sink and towels were located away from shower. Hard surface flooring in lieu of carpeting seems to be a horrible new trend... just does not feel clean and I'm pretty certain it wasn't. The bed sagged in the center and was terribly uncomfortable. We returned from a long day out and found unmade bed and and they never told us at check in that you have to request housekeeping!!! Since they only provided two of each towel type ours were all wet and on floor. We called to request fresh and never got them so had to use cold, wet towels as we had very little time to get ready to go to dinner. The safe did not work and I did not at all feel comfortable requesting service since we were on a tight schedule with no time to wait and they would have known we had valuables in the room. I arrived this afternoon for a family wedding to be held tomorrow , luckily not at this Hyatt which is a huge and expensive disappointment. The food is dreadful , but the service is beyond dreadful. The rehearsal dinner for the wedding was held this evening in a private room. I had pre ordered the steak , which arrived to my table of ten people, , at least 30 minutes before anyone else received their food. It was overcooked and COLD. I sent it back. After another 45 minutes, when everyone else had eaten, I was finally served - but only after going into the kitchen myself and inquiring about the whereabouts of my dinner. The steak which did finally arrive was fatty , sinewy, tough and very small for the price , $36 . My cousin ordered the fish tacos which were not palatable. She asked her husband to take her out to eat after the rehearsal dinner because she felt the quality of the tacos was indicative of anything and everything else in this restaurant .- not palatable The servers were inexperienced , nice young people, who were clueless. No drinks, or water, missing silverware and napkins .... Yikes ! Following dinner, I retreated to my noisy , beyond noisy hotel room. The bulldozer type noise emanating from the street below , was challenged by the banging , clanging cooling system , for who can be the LOUDEST most disturbing noice . I have a king bed , comfortable enough, although the sheets are crumbled and appear to have been used, There are two towels and one washcloth in this king room . There is one teeny, weeny bar of soap and the body wash bottle is even smaller ! This place is a nightmare . My cousin who is making the wedding is disgusted and upset, and I truly feel for her. She booked this hotel sight unseen , because of the location - it is only a short walk to the venue. I cannot wait to get out of here! My advice is to find another hotel in Rochester if you plan to be here. If you can find other accommodations in Rochester, try to avoid hotel. read more

This was a really nice hotel, with really strange elevators. My room was comfortable and clean, both weekends I stayed there. The location is fantastic. The service is also top of the line. The elevators are odd. There is a person in the elevator that hits the buttons for you, using their ipad. Other than that it was pretty amazing. Definitely do not buy things in their little shop, like food items. Those little single serve canisters of Pringles you get for .99 at a 7-Eleven, are $6.00 in their convenience store. Like the elevator in Big Bang Theory that is always out of order, the Hyatt elevators continue to be awaiting parts for repair or upgrade. So they have 2 elevators that have real operators 24/7 (well, maybe not both overnight). They are probably more efficient that way as they don't stop when they are full! Other than the elevators, the fully-booked hotel had a warm welcome at check-in, efficient housekeeping, excellent buffet at breakfast, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. This was my first time to stay here on business for a convention next door at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The nicest thing about this hotel is the fact that it is adjacent to the convention center. There is an enclosed crosswalk between the Hyatt and the convention center. Upon my arrival I self-parked my Audi in the multi-level parking garage. When I checked into the Hyatt's front desk they assigned me to the wrong room. I had to return back down to the front desk for my correct room key. I complained to the front desk staff regarding my inconvenience so they gave me a $25 food and beverage credit only for my first night. I thought my $25 food and beverage credit would be for each and every night. My room was 1506 with two beds for $203 including all taxes and fees. I noticed the water pressure and volume of water in my room sink and toilet was very minimal. The shower did not exhibit any water related problems. I thought that was strange. Other guests in the hotel said they had no problem with the plumbing or water. About one thousand people were here for the conference. During my stay one of the three hotel elevators was broken. The hotel staff said it would take several weeks for the hotel to repair the elevator due to a lack of elevator parts. We need to get Amazon to stock elevator parts. Needless to say the hotel elevators were not adequate to handle the volume of hotel guests. Lunch at the hotels "The Street Restaurant" cost $29.55, including gratuity. Service here was very slow during lunch. It took more than one hour for lunch. Service at the Hyatt's Center City Terrace and Lounge was also slow. On my last night I tried to order a cocktail at the hotel's lobby bar, but, nobody came to my table to take my order so I decided to return to my room. I can't believe this is a Regency grade hotel. We need to get the Regency police over here to inspect the hotel from the ground up. I feel this Hyatt should be downgraded from their current regency grade, considering all of their problems. After my stay I completed the Hyatt survey and was contacted by the rooms division manager. He offered me an extra 8,000 Hyatt points for my inconvenience. This hotel must be closed down and extensively renovated. The online photos make it look like an elegant hotel but it is far from. The rooms are OLD and feel OLD. They have a musty odor and it just feels like millions of people have slept in those beds. The headboard in my room was dirty, there were cobwebs on the lamp, urine stains on the toilet and mold around the shower. the air vents felt like they were blowing out dirty moldy air. I love this hotel. Wonderful staff. Such an amazing service. Anytime of day or night you would need anything they would be there. The parking is not free , but bonus point they have a good valet parking and easy self parking . Perfect spot. It's on downtown, 5-6 minutes away from Park Avenue and 8 minutes away from strong memorial hospital . The room is perfect , such a comfortable and quite place with big tv . Well it's a first time ever I got impressed with facial soup in the hotel room, that was so amazing. So if you are going there give it a try. The pool and jacuzzi there is amazing, you would enjoy to see the the city and swimming or be in the jacuzzi. Mostly people staying there are business or couples did not see that many kids around. They have a wonderful terrace bar , such a beautiful rooftop bar, with cool fire places around . The restaurants are nice and such a wonderful and nice service . I have to agree with the absolute no sound proofing of these rooms, do not stay here if you're a light sleeper. We thought people were knocking on our door multiple times and they weren't. You also hear everything to include the elevator going off even if you're not next to it. Visible dirt on the floor in bathroom and room. Cleaning could use more attention to detail. Beds and pillows were comfortable and lobby is nice looking, that's about the only pros. read more
