The staff wasn't that quick to help me, but perhaps that's because they thought I knew what I wanted already. There's a nice patio area and a back room to enjoy your cigars. I used to visit this place frequently years ago, before the pandemic, and it was excellent back then. Recently, I returned to visit, in search of some Rocky Patel cigars. A staff member convinced me that a particular cigar was owned by Rocky Patel. However, I was skeptical because the quality of the paper, etc., didn't seem up to par for Rocky Patel. Great selection of cigars in this place! The guys here are pretty good about steering you in the right direction of you are looking for something specific. They also carry CBD products if thats your thing. They also have a smoking patio in the back on the side of the building. Good vibe and cool people usually in this joint. I have been to Hyde Park Cigars 2xs within 4 days. As a non-cigar smoker (these 2xs being my 2nd and 3rd time smoking a cigar lol), the place has a really nice vibe and everyone there is super nice and welcoming. I originally stumbled across Hyde Park Cigars because I was looking for a bar near Harper Court to watch the first NBA finals 2018 (Go Golden State!). Believe it or not, Hyde Park doesn't have a ton of bar that are actually playing the audio of the game (I went to JaGrill, Chant, Promontory that night). There is a "patio-like" area here, but it's covered now, so you really don't get the breeze of being outside, but it was still nice. Hopefully they will open the patio back up. :) read more

Came here on a Saturday night after visiting Ja Grille nearby. I remember seeing the Open light on the night prior, but they weren't open. As we walked to our car with full bellies and a few drinks in our system, we decided to see if they were open tonight. We were greeted right away, and they happened to have my favorite cigar! I immediately ran to the case and grabbed a couple. The cashier was able to cut my cigar and light me up. She told us there was a bar in the back where we could enjoy our cigars. It was a cold and rainy night. We had to walk thru an alley that had a hodgepodge of outdoor furniture. I guess this would be where people normally hung out, but other patrons showed where we had to walk up a few steps to another entrance to the building. I guess this was a BYOB spot. It definitely wasn't for the grown and sexy crowd. They had leather seats, tvs, cabinets, and I could have sworn I saw a hookah on the floor. Never saw an actual bar. The furniture did not make sense. If I had to describe the place, it looked like your fun uncle's garage. It was where guys hung out to get away, watch the game, and share a few laughs. Maybe that was the look they were going for? I can't be mad at that. Honestly, I would go back to stock up on cigars. But to stay? I'll let the guys have their sanctuary. read more

What a way to finally peer into the world of cigars! Their logo is "If we dont carry it, its not worth smoking!" and I would absolutely agree. If you are a newbie, like myself, their supply of over 1,500 cigars can be overwhelming. I found myself staring and wondering where I would even begin. Fortunately, I had someone with me that is experienced and was able to assist me in what to try out for my first time. If you dont have someone knowledgeable with you, the workers are very helpful as well and easy to talk to. I ended up trying a cigar (cant remember the name) that tasted like vanilla and since the place is BYOB, I paired it with Jameson.... quite delicious. There is a back patio area that is pretty spacious and allows you the chance to sit outside, with friends or alone, and enjoy your purchased cigars. There is also an inside area if you chose not to be at one with nature. However, there is a minimum purchase required to be able to access either area. It was an awesome experience and even though I wont be a frequent smoker, it has peaked my curiosity into learning more about cigars what they are paired well... kinda similar to my obsession with wine and pairing it! This place is a RIP OFF!!!!! I flew into town last week and wanted to stop by this shop merely to pick up the liga pork beli I kept hearing about. But my friend wanted to surprise me with a couple of packs herself to add to my collection. So she goes to the shop and starts to tell me her experience. Stated the place had a horrible ventilation system which is typical for a shop that size but then proceeds to tell me how much she paid for ONE pack of these 4.75x50 sticks...I expected the mark up but wow they are literally robbing people that don't know better...she paid 200 per package. These sticks are only 138.00 tops 150 at a greedy ass shop but to charge 60.00 over retail ia criminal. They guy that was helping her did the usual "well you need this and that for the sticks to be fresh" and up charged her on things she didn't even need. This shop should be ashamed of it's and I will certainly be reporting them to the BBB..so watchout for my complaint Hype!!!!! read more

This Cigar lounge is one of the best in my opinion. All you have to do is buy a cigar that $20.00 and you have access to the lounge. It's BYOB. Which saves me money. There are T.Vs around the lounge so you can watch games, etc. LAST, but not least. They have great cigars that are stored well. The only thing I WISH for, more girls at the place. read more

Accountability means when your employee make a mistake you take ownership of that mistake not attempt suggestion a solution that the customer has to make a change next time they visit your establishment. I purchased hookah and was told it would take 15 minutes to receive. 30 minutes later I did not receive the Hookah. I notice other customers that came in after us receiving their hookah. . I saw one of the employees and ask what was the status. He informed me he lost the order in which each orders were made. I inform him I wanted a refund as I did not want to wait any longer. I asked him to inform the guy at the front register what happen. When I went to the front register his solution was it's busy on Saturday so I should call in advance next time. Not please with the customer service. How is it the customer fault that your employee was disorganized. read more

This is a very cool Cigar shop located in downtown Hyde Park. The staff here is very knowledgeable and have helped even a novice like myself, figure out some go to cigars that I now love. The prices are reasonable and they also have a nice smoking lounge in the back that you can take advantage of with a minimum purchase. In October of 2020, I purchased a box of cigars from this location and paid $127.96. It was a gift for my boyfriend. I had a very positive experience. The guy in the store helped me because I'm not a cigar smoker and wanted to purchase a gift. I recently came and the young woman told me a box of cigars was $300. She seemed new because she didn't even know where the cigars were located, and I had to show her. Also, she had to Google how many cigars come in a box. I decided to come back when the owners were in the store. I came back and AJ was very rude. She said her girls are very knowledgeable, and asked me what size box did I want. She asked me what size box did I want. I didn't even know there were different sizes. She informed me that her cheapest box was $230.Obviously, I'm not a smoker sell your product to me,inform me about the different sizes. I didn't have a problem with the price increase because obviously things go up over time, but to sit and talk to me as if I never purchased the cigars for the price that I stated I didn't appreciate. The cigars that I purchased have two different brands. They were out of the less expensive one. So I most likely, I had the less expensive option last time and the $230 option is not the least expensive one that they have to offer. I'll never come back to this location, and my boyfriend has been a customer since they first opened I'll make sure he never purchases from this location again. I purchased it on my credit card so I still have proof of purchase. I'll attach a picture, and I'll add the picture of cigars from the purchase in October when I make it home. The city no longer wants the shop in Hyde Park anyway. My advice to you is to humble yourself. read more

The neighborhood deserves better. They do have a good selection of cigars BUT the humidor is not well maintained or sealed, and as a result, many of the cigars are dry. Now about the smoking lounge, it's basically an apartment with no real ventilation system and it is not in the best of shape. This is my least favorite spot to smoke in the Chicago area. read more

Usually just come here to pick up cigars when I'm in the area. Has potential. The cigars are fresh, and they throw a event a month with a cigar distributor. They have a cigar lounge which they try to make you pay to go upstairs. On the upside they have a pool table and a bunch of TVs, on the downside it looks like it never got fully renovated. Which if they spruced it up a little it would be worth it. As it is now I can't vouch for the lounge, but the cigars have always been on point. Called HPC to see if they carried a cigar that I wanted to try out. Fuente Fuente Opus X Lost City is the cigar. They told me yes that they carried it and so I went to their store after a few hours. The young lady working in the shop didn't know the price of the cigar. So I'm actually wondering why she's working the counter by herself and don't know the prices of their products but moving on.... So she calls either the manager or the owner to find out the cost. They tell her over the phone that this cigar is basically $90. I tell her why she's on the phone with them still that this cigar goes on an average anywhere and anyplace that has them for $30. What the hell do they have... COVID prices going on? read more

The plethora of cigar options was fascinating. They even had cigars to accommodate me. I don't usually smoke at all but I wanted to give it a try with something mild and sweet. I tried the LSD rum punch cigar. The shop was very professional and very helpful when it came to selecting. The down fall was more so the "lounge"/smoking area... it was a bit too run down for my liking. I felt a bit uncomfortable. Unorganized, inconsistent humidity, too much non-related stuff blocking floors like ladders, fans, boxes, etc. Too many empty boxes on shelves that should be removed or restocked. This place is the worst of any cigar shops/lounges I've ever been to. Although it's in a very nice area the lounge looks like an unfinished basement with patches of caulk and exposed drywall. For entrance to the lounge guys have to make a $25 purchase or as a couple meaning male and female a $25 has to be made. The cashier was very unprofessional to the point that he was texting while I was making my purchase and there was 2 people in line behind me. He offered no assistants besides taken payments and claimed to be out of matches so you had to purchase a lighter/torch which are very expensive. It's so obvious this place is out to make money and that's it. The lounge furniture is old, like in the neighborhood corner bar. The only good thing about this place is it's BYOB so at least you'll enjoy your cocktail. read more
