Smoking Buddha Shop - Tobacco Shops Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I hate writing bad reviews but it's important for people to be aware of the type of businesses they frequent. As a resident of the downtown area, this shop was my go to for different odds and ends, typically every few months. Over the years, I've noticed the jump in prices but attributed it to the renovations made to the shop. With Covid slowing down business, I understood the money had to be made up somewhere, and so I let things slide. After all, neighborhood shops like this are at risk...which is why they should treat and charge their customers fairly. A few days ago, I visited the shop and was quoted 3x the normal price I've been paying for the item. I was flabbergasted and thought maybe I heard the rep incorrectly. I didn't. Needless to say, I left, drove up the street to another shop and found what I needed at a fair price. Later, after reading other reviews, I realized that I wasn't the only one with a poor customer experience. In closing, I'm ALL for supporting small businesses but not when they introduce tactics like price gouging. Their decision to do so could very well explain why the shop is seemingly always empty. read more

I've lived in Pilsen for about 20 years and have been coming here since they opened. They have a selection of oils and incense that suits me just fine. I've met the workers and they have helped me out on more than one occasion either by suggesting or just putting the finishing touches on those damn complicated vape pens. Just down the blocks from Simones this an excellent location. So -- if you read past reviews - just call before you make a special trip and warn them you are coming in. I love this shop and staff. Aldo (owner) and Carlos are always welcoming and helpful. The first time I went, right after quarantine was lifted, I called first to make sure they were open. I had a lot of questions about some products and they took the time to explain them all and recommendations. I went in and they were fast and friendly. This place is so unpredictable! And, no, not in that cool Pilsen way. The store has unpredictable HOURS. The store clerks have unpredictable moods--sometimes cool, sometimes angry. The only predictable thing about this store is how poor the quality of the merchandise is. The reason I've been here so often is because it's the only shop in Pilsen. alls i needed was a simple, glass tobacco stem. walked in, the clerk asked me how i was doing, and 15 seconds later he was giving me my total along with just what i needed. the clerk was cordial and didn't seem put out that he had to make a $5.40 sale. maybe that has to do with my charming personality, or maybe the clerk's a nice guy. you be the judge. read more

Best smoke shop I've been to in Chicago. The staff has always been cool and laid back. Very helpful. Plenty of selection without being too over the top. Some places are more about concentrates lifestyle and fashion (with crazy prices) and other places seem like visiting a friend's basement with black light posters. Smoking Buddha, I feel, is the right balance of functional glass choices, vaporizers, affordability and chill attitude. Definitely a great place to shop! read more

These guys are taxing like a m'f, I bought a small bowl a couple of weeks ago and it came out to be around $16!!! I mean that's just crazy for a 3.5' pipe, I know a corner store on 63rd and Pulaski that sells the same exact bowls for $10 even. Not to mention these guys time every 15 min, buddy was ots when he came in lol. The shop is pretty mellow I'll give them that and the music was good, but other than that this place is over priced. read more

bought a puffco wax pen for $110 last week and stopped working after couple days. Took it to my local shop in Bridgeport to see if they could see why it wasn't working cause didn't wanna drive to Pilsen. Turns out it was a knockoff pen. They showed me the original one and the box mine came in was different. this shop sells fakes so be careful read more

Taking my business elsewhere next time. I called to tell them I was on my way and that I was going to make a big purchase and ran over there and then they closed 15minutes early then the time they said and have posted and the guy was rude about it . They just talk to each other and ignore their customers, don't even bother to ask if you need help. And if I do ask to see something it's like they have attitude. There are many issues with this shop. They are OVER PRICED on everything!!! They say they are competitive. How so, when this place charges double, other smoke shops in the area are cheaper. If you bring it up, they get upset and cannot match the price. You could easily spend a few hundred $$ , but if anything breaks they will not take it back. It is your problem to deal with the manufacturer yourself. Very poor customer service, you stand around and wait until the one person working is free. The selection is decent, but over priced all around!! They will suck your cash, thinking you have a deal. Defiantly check with some other local shops, they the same stuff, just a lot more reasonable. If your in to giving your money away and have no return policy then go here! read more
