I thought it was funny at the time. After learning more about IV protocols that they didn't follow, I don't think it's very funny anymore.
    Megan T.

I've taken some time to process my visit and the aftermath so I think I'm ready to speak up about it. My bf and I came here the day we left for Denver (8/5) and I was super excited about it. My boyfriend backed out upon reading the paperwork but decided to go through with it when I got mine. At first, I was okay and encouraged him. I mentioned numerous times in front of the person who stuck me that it burns a little and she told me it was normal. So whatever.. 5 mins later I ask my boyfriend if his burns at all and he says no. I look at my arm again 5 mins later and it's pretty swollen. I told her that and she explains to me that my vein is collapsed. Sounds scary but I didn't want to freak my bf out at all so I kept calm. She inserted the catheter into my wrist area after that (on the same arm) [which I've learned from several of my clients since the time that you are NOT supposed to stick an IV below the original poke] They untie me and blood starts pouring out everywhere and got on my clothes. Which for the common person, would terrify them. Luckily I'm not easily "icked" by that kind of stuff so I still kept calm. They proceeded to puncture my left wrist, collapsed that vein, then punctured my left mid arm. FINALLY that worked and no more veins collapsed. I was happy and proceeded onto my day. I was kinda worried because I had a flight that day and wasn't sure if the collapsed veins would be okay at a high altitude. So, I call and speak to someone who happens to be phlebotomists' superior. He reassures me that I'd be fine, but then tells me that the max they're supposed to poke me is 3 times. They did 4, and possibly even 5 (I think I remember them poking my left wrist twice) I still wasn't even mad. Until we arrived in Denver and I didn't feel a noticeable difference at all. I had to drink 2 Liquid IV packs a day and guzzle water. Which is fine... I know Denver is dry. But I didn't think I'd be THAT dehydrated upon arrival being that I paid for a $100 IV. It felt all that pain was for nothing. My bruises on my arms are just now going away. I know my veins are small and hard to find, but the fact that they didn't follow protocols scares me from ever doing this again. They had great tea though...

My review will be brief because I have the IV in my arm and I'm really under the weather. The decor is on fleek!! Basically, they had a good decorator. The customers service is really above average! Not sure why so many people had a bad experience with their staff. They give you coffee and hot green tea (free) prior to hydration, then blankets for when you're getting hydrated. The premedic/firefighter is a gem. He is very personable and tried to accommodate me the best he could he saw how pained I looked. My only negative is I felt their 'patient questionnaire' was a tad intrusive (ex. Income, rent/buy your home, etc). I understand the marketing advantages behind it, but since you fill everything out on iPad you can't skip it. That's why it's a con. I don't not feel immediately better following treatment, but I'm sure I'll recognize the difference after a nap. I'll give four stars for now and update later :)

I visited this location about a week and half ago. While the staff was friendly and welcoming, I was stuck twice before the third IV actually hit a vein. Frustratingly enough, these two unsuccessful tries left me with a large bruise on my forearm that resulted in me having to wear long sleeves for work to hide the fact that I looked like a drug addict since I work with kids! While the IV did help my symptoms of dehydration I will probably not attend this location again as I can't run the risk of being poked and prodded and left with bruises. A week later my bruises are still noticeable.

My experience here was absolutely perfect, Angela is super knowledgeable and honest when it comes to her prices, products, and what she thinks would look best for you if you're not 100% sure on making a decision. The day before my appointment I was texted thorough instructions on how to reach her office, which was very helpful because navigating to it was quite challenging. There is a parking garage and also a few parking spots before the gated community area, but the spots are sparse. I recommend doing free street parking along the area, either the sidewalk in front of StudioPlex or the residential streets nearby and walking to the clinic, which will be through the walkway you see directly under the big StudioPlex sign. You have to walk quite a bit into the walkway, and eventually you'll see the clinic's sign out front. The interior of the clinic is clean and decorated nicely, with info pamphlets about the products being used and services offered. Through the entire process--consultation and procedure--Angela gave very helpful advice and I ended up adding on a botox treatment for my TMJ while also providing aesthetic results. I definitely would come again, you're shown immediate before and after pictures, and despite the differences the end result for me came out so natural and exactly what I was hoping for! Angela's also very generous about helping figure out pricing and pay, which I greatly appreciated!! I definitely will be coming back, battling in the race to book with her on the appointment schedule is 100% worth it for me!

I said yes because it seemed to wear off faster than usual. The price was almost double what I had previously paid, so I assumed the treatment would be longer-lasting. Two weeks later, I still had noticeable movement in my forehead. I texted to request a touch-up, and she scheduled me at her StudioPlex location, which I hadn't been to before. When I arrived, I couldn't find the suite. I called and texted multiple times but didn't receive a response.I understand she may have been with clients, but since I didn't show up at my appointment time, I would have expected her to check her phone to see where I was. I wandered around for 20-30 minutes in the cold and rain trying to locate her suite with no success. When I got home, I texted again asking if I could reschedule at her Midtown location. She apologized for missing my calls and messages but didn't address rescheduling. I followed up the next day and didn't receive a reply. Considering the $700+ cost, nearly double my usual, I'm left questioning whether I received the full amount of Botox I was charged for.

Small, comfortable lobby, friendly, polite front desk staff and free WiFi. My PA is nice enough and the visits are normally quick. My real concern is they don't have video visits and communication is lacking. When there is an issue (and there have been plenty), you call and speak to a customer service agent who re-routes your message to the office. Then someone who is not your provider will communicate via message portal which leads to unnecessary time and expense. Specifically, I was told to stop taking my prescription after I felt better. Then my symptoms resumed. There's one phone number for all locations, you can't call directly. I called, the agent called the office and a different person (not my provider) sent me a message via the phone portal. That person gave me a refill which I filled ($25) but I had questions so I was told to come in. $50 co-pay and time off work later, I was given a completely different prescription. Unfortunately, it was for 30 days ($10) instead of 90 days ($25) which required more trips to the pharmacy and added expense. I'd have saved $75 with Kaiser with a free follow up video visit with my dermatologist. Speaking directly to a provider = questions answered and the correct prescription the first time. Kaiser also had 90 day refills sent via free mail order. At Dermatology Affiliates they don't have video visits (they blame insurance) and you can't speak directly to your provider. It's like a game of telephone which results in multiple contacts, time off work and unnecessary expense. Also, they don't have a numbing agent for painful injections. They give you a small ice pack which doesn't do the job. In short, free parking and WiFi and decent service is fine. But if I had the time to find a dermatologist with free video visits, good communication and positive reviews, I'd happily switch. Dermatology Affiliates really makes me miss Kaiser.

I've had two appointments at Dermatology Affiliates' Midtown location. So far, so good. I'm happy…read morewith this practice after switching from Peachtree Dermatology Associates in Buckhead. Not that Peachtree Dermatology was bad; I had several good experiences with different providers there. I switched because: (1) I wanted a dermatologist closer to home and (2) one of Peachtree Dermatology's MDs left a bad taste in my mouth because of her arrogance and condescension. Parking is free at Dermatology Affiliates Midtown (at least, for now). I had to pay to park at Peachtree Dermatology. I didn't mind paying for parking all those years; it's just nice when there's free parking. Dermatology Affiliates is located on street level of the Cottonwood Westside apartment building, across the street from The Interlock and catty-corner from Westside Provisions District. Park in the building's garage - the entrance is right next to Dermatology Affiliates' storefront on 14th St NW. Let the front desk staff know so they can help you validate parking. Remember your license plate number. When Googling for a new dermatology practice to go to, it came down to Dermatology Affiliates Midtown and Atlanta Dermatology & Aesthetics in Atlantic Station. I chose Dermatology Affiliates because: (1) I liked that they had a team of physicians and PAs instead of what appeared to be just one physician at Atlanta Dermatology & Aesthetics, (2) Yelp reviews, and (3) Atlanta Dermatology & Aesthetics' website was down. Overall, I got a better feeling about Dermatology Affiliates. It was really easy for me to book my first appointment online with Katherine (Katie) Quinley, PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified). I chose her because she graduated from the Wake Forest PA Program (my dad did his residency at Wake, my mom went there for undergrad, and I grew up in the area as a Wake fan -- yeah, no "real" reason). Katie also had plenty of appointments available. I've seen Katie for three issues: (1) acne, (2) a scar on my leg, and (3) atopic dermatitis, a.k.a. eczema. Katie prescribed various drugs and got me on various routines, which have helped all three issues. For acne, I continued the use of adapalene / Differin 0.1% gel, which Peachtree Dermatology started me on many years ago, and Katie added sulfacetamide sodium / Klaron 10% lotion to my daily routine. For the scar on my leg, I was prescribed hydroquinone 4% cream. For eczema, I was prescribed triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream. Several years ago, Peachtree Dermatology prescribed triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%, but it was the ointment version, not the cream. Katie recommended Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream, available at Sephora, to help moisturize my face. My acne and eczema are under control and resolved again. The scar, which I sustained from storming Georgia Tech's basketball court at McCamish Pavilion on January 30, 2024, will take much longer - I'm guessing years - to show significant visual improvement. In my last patient handout, it said: "Explained to patient that after improving the brown pigmentation, we can use the V-Beam to target any leftover redness which will also improve its appearance." Katie told me Vbeam is a laser treatment available at Dermatology Affiliates' Buckhead location. (Dermatology Affiliates has three locations: Midtown, Buckhead, East Cobb.) Per Vbeam's manufacturer, Candela: "The Vbeam pulsed dye laser (PDL) has been proven time and again for the successful treatment of a wide array of vascular, pigmented, and certain non-pigmented lesions, with a low incidence of side effects." https://candelamedical.com/patient/brands/vbeam/ The front desk staff at Dermatology Affiliates Midtown have been polite and efficient and Katie's medical assistants, Savannah Herring and Aaliyah Mantock, have been great as well. I was seen on time at both appointments, my prescriptions were sent promptly to my preferred pharmacy, and Katie and the rest of the staff answered all my questions. I've found Dermatology Affiliates' website patient portal to be helpful. My only gripe is it's not configured to allow me to send a message to anyone at the practice. For example, I use MyChart to message with other providers. It's easier and more convenient than calling and leaving/receiving voicemail. Since hydroquinone isn't covered under my insurance plan, I called the office to let them know (as Katie told me to do) and left a voicemail. Later, I received a text with a link to Klara, which is an online platform for providers to securely message with patients. Using Klara, I messaged with Aaliyah, who sent me a GoodRx coupon that reduced the price of my tube of hydroquinone from well over $100 to only $27.04. I appreciated that. So, I think I have to use Klara to message with this office instead of through Dermatology Affiliates' website patient portal (QualDerm Partners ModMed / Modernizing Medicine). Thank you, Katie, Aaliyah, Savannah, and team.

I selected this spa to have a BBL transfer thinking that they would provide a non-evasive procedure that I would be pleased with at a reasonable cost and I would also be able to return to work after a few weeks. Well, my first encounter set the tone and I should have listened to my first thought that told me not to return. But, I wanted ro give them a chI met with Dr. Vandy Gaffney for the consultation , he went over the procedure and told me the cost. At the end of the consultation, he requested I Zelle/ Cash App him the deposit of $1000 on the spot but I didn't have either so although I thought it was strange I sent it the following day through Venmo. Well, I left the office without the good doctor providing a written overview of the procedure, which I requested several times. I also asked for a receipt but that was not sent to me, however, I had my receipt from Venmo so I wasn't too worried. Why did I did go back, I don't know :( The signs were all there! The week of the procedure I went in to pick up the paperwork and pre-op instructions. The pre-op instructions read not to take aspirin or other medication 10 days prior to the procedure and went I questioned this information both Dr. Gaffney and Nathan down played it, saying it didn't matter their suppose to say that but its not going to hurt anything. Well, the day of the procedure came and all went well. After the procedure I noticed I was very swollen from head to toe for weeks. I never sat on my suppose to be mew buttocks but went in for a follow appointment 7 days later and my butt looked the same way it did when I initially went in. The doctor said, I agree with you, however, do some squats, that will help. Okay, WTF did I pay you $4500 for???? He said, " its still swollen and you wont see the results for at least 90 days. I expect to at least see noticeable changes after this procedure. I did not sit down, sleep and still have not been sitting down on my butt. I also purchased several garments to wear so I wouldn't have to keep it off long. The best advice he gave was to get a lymphatic massage. I had 3 massages since the BBL and it helped the swelling tremendously. Its been a month and the results are not good at all. Don't go to this doctor! We put our money and trust in the doctors expertise and he clearly does not have it! Oh, I failed to mention he sent a BBL pillow to my house. Thanks for the $4500 pillow!
