This time came with a friend on a Wednesday morning. The place is cute with plenty of character. It's a converted bank and still has a vintage/old-time feel to it. Big windows in the front. There are doors in front, or the rear, with an outside patio area. Inside there are plenty of places to sit, ideally for groups of 2-4. Parking on the street, or they have their own lot in the rear. Got a super nice, genuine smile and greeting from the barista. Ordered a London Fog (little lavender, little vanilla, and extra foam). They didn't have any scones, so I ordered an amazing looking Morning Bun. Got the drink in a china mug, and the morning bun warmed up. Both of these items were made perfectly (maybe I am being to hard on this whole scone thing !) The place was busy, and there were people coming/going the entire morning (we were there for nearly 3 hours). Everybody was having quiet conversations, so it was easy for us to talk. And even though it was rainy/overcast, the big windows brought in plenty of sunlight. Definitely a place that I would recommend and return to. Now if they served a "real" scone that would be simply incredible ;)

They have some chocolates and pastries available as well. The eh: I didn't hear our drinks being called and when I went to up confirm it was my beverage they said they didn't know, they didn't make it, and walked away. They did a good job with all of them. The London Fog was steeped nicely and had very good flavor. It was a little on the sweet side, so next time I'll ask for less lavender and vanilla flavoring, maybe half as much. It was served at a good temperature, around 150°F. The Mocha Latte was also very good, with a nice chocolate flavor and a decent amount of froth. I thought it was slightly on the cool side, but my wife said it was perfect for her. The Coffee Cake was excellent: moist, buttery, and loaded with cinnamon. It was a generous portion and easily enough for the two of us to share. Couple of small issues. First, they only serve beverages in paper to-go cups, without the option of an actual china mug. I much prefer wrapping my hands around a warm mug while relaxing in a café. The other is that they have a pretty limited bakery/pastry selection. Would definitely appreciate the addition of scones, or croissants. Service: Super nice people working behind the counter. We received a sincere, friendly greeting and helpful guidance with our menu selections. One staff member even came out from behind the counter to help me carry everything to the table. The staff seemed to know many of the regular customers and were able to have friendly conversations with them. You got the sense that there was genuine appreciation and connection between the staff and customers. Atmosphere: It's a large newer space with high ceilings and plenty of windows. There are lots of tables that work well for groups of two to four people. Several other small groups were there during our visit, but the noise level remained comfortable and it was easy to have a quiet conversation. They also sell additional merchandise, including honey and maple syrup. A nice place that I would gladly visit again the next time we are traveling through.

I don't need to eat gluten-free, but the cookie looked delicious, so I decided to give it a try. Am I glad I did! The cookie was wonderfully soft and chock full of mini chocolate chips. Unfortunately, like usual, I forgot to take a picture. What I did remember to take a picture of was the hoppel poppel.This German-Austrian dish was originally meant as a way to clear out one's pantry and refrigerator. Casera might not be cleaning out, but they ought to be cleaning up on this delectable menu item. Their version begins with the requisite potatoes and onions, but their meat selection, summer sausage, is not only very Wisconsin but very delicious. Cheese is also included, so since I'm not a huge cheese eater, I was pleased when the kitchen understood my request for a very light hand with it. The kitchen also understands how to make dry-scrambled eggs. I can't stop thinking about this dish and wondering when next I'll be able to enjoy it. I also ordered their black iced tea, which was strongly brewed (my personal preference over the pale stuff that too many places serve) and very refreshing. My brunch companion ordered the raspberry scone, and I was lucky enough to enjoy a bite. The scone was perfect--fluffy, wonderfully moist, and drizzled with just enough sweet icing. She also tried the special drink, which was a cherry cola coffee. This was not something she enjoyed. Unfortunately, she also struck out to a small degree on the Chilaquiles, which were, unfortunately, served with incredibly soggy tostada chips.
