A little less than a year ago I signed up my 8 year old son. The school has helped with teaching him confidence, respect, discipline and has taught him to keep active. The instructors are hands on and dedicated to teaching the kids in a positive, fun environment while teaching them respect and discipline. The Instructors truly care about the students, and have lots of patients. This is truly a family friendly enviroment. The school plans activities to engage with the students and bond with their families. With the recent pandemic and the lock down orders, the school immediately went to virtual semi-private lessons and was able to keep my son engaged with other students as well as continuous learning. But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

Decided to surprise my wife with a relaxing duffy boat ride for our wedding anniversary with some friends. Went straight to Yelp to do my research (thanks Yelp!). Originally, I was going to book with a rental company for Newport Harbor, but then came across a Groupon for PCH Electric Boats. After checking out their website and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I immediately booked. I called to book a white duffy boat on the day before Thanksgiving. The person on the phone was friendly, courteous and really easy-going. They asked if I had a Groupon and if I could provide the voucher number. BOOM. done. all set! I received an email with VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (including photos) of where to park and where the meeting area was. Additionally, a link to the waiver form that every passenger is required to fill out (even your babies) was included in that email. On the day of our booking, we were met by the owner Grant who I'm pretty sure was the same friendly, courteous and easy-going person I talked to on the phone days earlier when I booked. He provided specific instructions on where we're allowed to go and what to avoid. He saw we had several small children in our party and recommended everyone use the restroom nearby before boarding since there is not place to stop out in the harbor. After we came back from our potty break, Grant lead us down to the dock and got all the kiddos fitted for their life vests (all in great condition btw). He assisted us with our bags so we could focus on boarding the kids safely and even took a group photo for us! The boat was clean and easy to drive. The sound system was bumping and all the windows easily lifted up for that nice harbor breeze. It was a beautiful and memorable day. On our return, Grant was at the dock with one of his employees ready to receive us. He guided us in smoothly and as we were gathering our belongings and cleaning up, he helped all the kids out and grabbed our bags. We handed Grant a tip and immediately he passed it over to his employee who was going to do the post-ride cleaning.. what a great boss!!!! Definitely will be booking with PCH Electric Boats again! Thanks Grant!!!!

We were looking for a martial arts studio about a year ago for our kids and happened to come across Hyper and decided to try it out. To say we were impressed is an huge understatement. The atmosphere the coaches create here is simply amazing. It's not stuffy and formal which can often times translate to boring for the kids. I remember listening to the coaches during class one day thinking "they are drilling so many life lessons into their heads and the kids don't even know it". Every coach here genuinely cares and they have created an amazing family environment, so much so that my husband and I signed up for the adult classes as well! I've never had a desire to try MMA but I absolutely love it here! I have seen a huge increase in my boys' confidence because they know how to defend themselves. Unfortunately my oldest son has been bullied a couple times and I don't think he would have gotten himself out of the situations as quickly had he not had the training he's received at Hyper. Not only is it fun but the training is HIGHLY effective. I have more confidence as well and feel like I could defend myself if needed much better than I could have a year ago. Hyper has been so much more than I ever expected. From the moment we joined, everyone has been welcoming, positive, and encouraging. They are absolutely amazing with kids and create an environment that builds confidence, discipline, and excitement all at the same time. You can truly see how much they care about each child and their growth, both on and off the floor. Coach Ryker and Coach Sophia have been incredible. Their patience, energy, and ability to connect with the kids make such a huge difference. They encourage my boys to push themselves, celebrate their progress, and make learning fun. My boys genuinely look forward to going every time, which says everything as a parent. What I appreciate most is the atmosphere Hyper creates. My husband and I started taking classes a few months after our 5yr. Old (at the time) started. We originally thought we would attend a couple of classes in the hope that our son would see his parents pushing through and trying hard too. Little did we know that we would find such a passion for learning and embracing the art. This is by far the best couples therapy/date night ever by the way. Getting a chance to train and work together is amazing. I especially love when we get to work son of our combos practicing on each other, helps me get out any pent up aggression. Knowing that I can take on my husband who is 6'2" and take him to the floor if needed, is a huge confidence booster! Every staff member at this facility is uplifting and extremely professional. They offer classes where parents and kids can actually take together, which is amazing! Being here has changed our lives as a family, and we can't thank everyone here enough. Absolutely disgusting training facility with a staff that treats people terribly and verbally abused me while I was there. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu HB located off Hamilton/Brookhurst in the Trader Joe's shopping center is very easy to find next to Bo's Bagel & Coffee with plenty of parking. The studio itself is very clean (highly critical) is a bit small, but it surprisingly has enough room to practice the combatives. Coach Carlos & his team are very passionate, knowledgeable, dedicated and kind and have so much patience with newcomers. I immediately felt welcome and excited to learn the many techniques without any fear. There is a variety of classes & times offered for both seeking adults or for children and even a self defense class strictly for women called Women Empowered. Whether you've tried martial arts previously or not, I feel Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is structured so well that you cannot fail to embrace it. If you've never tried martial arts, I invite you to come by and do the 10-day trial to explore a new way of life. I feel even in the short few weeks challenging myself to learn something new, I've developed a quiet confidence. I am in love with the idea of self mastery and believe I will be a lifelong student of Jiu jitsu!

From the moment we walked in, Master Chris made us feel welcome. His approach goes far beyond Tae Kwon Do. He focuses on building respect, discipline, and self-confidence in every student. Master Chris has a true gift for motivating kids. He knows how to balance firm instruction with encouragement, creating an environment where students feel supported and capable. I wrote an awesome review back in 7/2023, halfway through the time we attended the gym. We started our membership in May. In June, my husband put in a 60-day notice with the front desk to end our membership by August 2023 since our kids were going to start school in September and our schedules didn't match with practice times at HB Ultimate Training Center. The lady at the front desk said she entered it in and that we were good. We had had every intention of going back to the gym again the following summer. We said our goodbyes to the other kids in August and thought it had gone smoothly. In Sept I checked my bank statement and found I had been charged for TWO more months. I was very upset because we did our due diligence in letting them know TWO MONTHS AHEAD OF TIME, like it stated in the contract. Suddenly the typically nice admins were not so nice, claiming we never told them (and since it was a verbal request, there was no time stamp to prove they had said they took care of it). I went in two different times, in person, without my children, to talk to them about this matter. The general manager claimed that the admin had entered it in wrong (instead of cancelling the membership, she had frozen the membership), so it was her fault, however he also claimed that their billing company are sharks and wouldn't reverse the charges even if he wanted to. So he suggested we go back to attending jiu jitsu lessons for 2 months, supposedly free of charge, that he could probably manage to get us back one month's worth of membership only, and then we could decide to sign up with them again if we wanted to. NO. After pulling this stunt, we would NEVER go back to this business. They eventually gave us back one month's worth of membership, I'll given them that. But unfortunately, it seems like it's a common tactic for other gyms too; it's so easy to sign up but so difficult to cancel. I would highly recommend for anyone that signs up with them to have the front desk or the general manager sign a typed document that they have received a request to freeze/end their membership to prevent from being unfairly charged more months. Also, if you do sign up, do it at the beginning of the month rather than the end of the month. They had told me initially that it would be prorated, but when I was trying to cancel my membership, and I told the general manager that they had charged me for an extra month, and he informed me that they had charged us for the entire month of May. HB Ultimate Training Center: if you want to stay in business, you need to treat your customers right. You lost 3 of us in one go for getting greedy.

I took the 6:15 PM Gi Jiu Jitsu class, taught by UNF MMA Champion and Checkmat Black Belt, Gianni Vazquez. The class is designed for all skill levels, so whether you're a beginner or have no experience at all, you'll feel right at home. It started with some warm-ups and quickly moved into specific drills and live sparring. As a purple belt, I really enjoyed the class and walked away with some awesome guard-passing techniques. Rounders MMA offers so much more than just Jiu Jitsu - they also have NoGi Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Muay Thai classes. Plus, they offer specialized programs for kids, including Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and Muay Thai + Boxing. If you're looking for a way to get your kids involved in martial arts, I highly recommend Rounders. The benefits are endless: from physical fitness and mental toughness to boosting self-confidence and teaching valuable life skills like focus, respect, and self-discipline. The space is versatile, able to be one large room or divided into sections, and it's really motivating for the younger kids to see and learn alongside the older students. The staff is amazing. Krystal, in particular, was so kind to my son and made him feel truly welcome and special from day one. This studio does so much more than teach Jiu Jitsu--it helps kids build confidence, improve social skills, and get off electronics in a positive, healthy environment. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend it to any parent!

Especially in this day and she with all the public risks that exist and it's becoming more prevalent. Professor Joe is a great teacher and patient with his students. He teaches great practical fundamentals of Gracie jiu jitsu that are the building blocks of self defense and sport. Another element that he teaches is a solid wrestling base that any grappler can benefit from. I'm glad to be training there
