For a return trip it was everything ai expected and more. The server was on top of it from start to finish, the food top notch and the portion size HUGE. Right across the Indiana state line on the West side of Indiana sits this little gem that serves up awesome hamburgers made with local sourced beef and many other items such as fish, steak, and chicken. We ordered two appetizers of onions rings, fried green beans and when they arrived we realized at that moment we were never going to finish either of them. The portions were huge and the freshness and flavor were great! They have many specialty hamburgers to choose from and the standards as well. I went with the Ellie burger with grilled onions and bacon jam. It was massive and delicious. My partner chose the mushroom and Swiss for a home run. The burgers come with your choice of fries, chips or Cole slaw. We both chose fries and they were really really good. We could have did just fine with the fries as our side but we splurged. The interior of the place is a little dark but warm and comfortable. There are even a few slot machines to entertain you if you desire. We also noted that there is a time change once you cross the state line so keep that in mind.

Came for a quick lunch after going to the VA. The fries are on point, crispy! Now the burger wasn't bad. It's definitely big. The toppings made the burger. BUT the burger meat was not seasoned. My hubby got the double bacon cheeseburger and said the same thing, the meat was just lacking seasoning. Our server was very nice. We came around 12pm and it was empty.

What a yummy find! We were on our way home from a soccer game in Illinois and with the good reviews figured we'd give it a try. Late at night, it felt like the restaurant was in the middle of nowhere - like a hidden secret! It's nothing fancy but both the food and service were terrific. The burgers and the catfish were the standouts. We tried two different burgers and both were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the fried pickles! Wings were good, but the breaded kind with sauce on the side which isn't my favorite but that's a personal choice. We also loved the French onion soup. Drinks were very affordable (after $14 cocktails last weekend, $6 was a bargain!!!). The kitchen was backed up so service was slow, but the food was worth the wait. I will definitely return if we are in the area again!!!

We were staying in Danville for a couple of nights and wanted to find a place with good food since we'd been in the road for 2 days. The reviews of this place were positive so we decided to give it a try (it was Valentine's Day btw), and we were not disappointed. In fact, I had the BEST catfish of my life. No joke! And spending time in TX as a youngster, I had a lot of catfish. The breading is done perfectly; cornmeal and not too thick. You can taste the fish and its melt in your mouth flaky, light and delicious. In fact, my husband ate so much of mine, we tried to go back the next day so we both could get it but the kitchen was closed that day. It came with coleslaw and fries. I don't eat coleslaw but my husband said it was good. The fries are 4 star fries. They were not crispy and were a bit greasy. The drinks we ordered were delicious and when I asked for a margarita without the mixer they were accommodating and checked to make sure it was how I liked it. My husband got a cheeseburger and ordered it medium rare but was brought out well done. The server was great and let us know she forgot to tell the kitchen and took it back and had it remade. This is such a rare thing in food service that I would come back for the service! They had a dessert special of crème brûlée and I can't pass up that dessert as it's my favorite. The sugar was perfectly caramelized and the vanilla crème was creamy and delicious! The place is clean and the service is amazing!! If I'm ever back in Danville, this is where I will go! Thank you for a delicious and fun Valentine's meal!

First time eating here and I loved it. Got the potato bacon pizza because I've never had potato on a pizza. It was amazing! The bartender/server brought out the hot sauce and pizza seasoning. I'm so glad I tried it because I loved it!! It goes great on the fries and the pizza. I asked where they got them, she said they sell them there! So I bought Butch's sauce and seasoning. Can't wait to use them at home! Thanks I&I!

The food and staff were great. Food arrived hot on both visits I made. The dinner was about 20. Total, which included 2 drinks from the bar.

The perfect dark dive bar for a quick afternoon bite! I could see how this place would be popular at night time or when they had a band playing. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. It was cooked perfect and was much bigger than I expected that I didn't even finish the whole thing. The fries were crispy. I live a dive and this checked all the boxes! Note: they don't have any draft beer, only cans/bottles.

We finally made it up there a couple weeks ago, set reservations, they were absolutely not needed on the Friday at 7 when we went. The service was fantastic, the dessert that we got was delicious, the food was ok at best (something you could get pretty much anywhere but it's a charming little place so that alone made it enjoyable), drinks from the bar were really good. We happened to be sitting at a table with an elderly couple behind us, this guy was so incredibly rude that my husband finally looked at me and said " That guy over there is being a complete prick to the staff". He was speaking to the staff like they were beneath him, he was incredibly rude to multiple employees and my husband and I just agreed he must be a miserable human being to treat people that way. After they left, we overheard another staff member tell the table next to us that was the owner. We looked at a picture of him just to be 100% sure and sure enough it was the owner. The wife looked embarrassed, the whole section we were in was taking note of the way this guy was speaking to the staff. Talk about secondhand embarrassment, he obviously didn't have any embarrassment to begin with but the rest of the restaurant was taking notice and cringing, after he left it was discussed among the tables. His behavior was repulsive, if you run a restaurant and you talk to your employees like that on the dining room floor, you should be ashamed. If you have an issue with the way you were being served you could've taken that up with the employee somewhere other than the floor. You obviously think that you're more important than you actually are and your behavior that day was vile, even if that was the best food I've ever eaten in my life I wouldn't return after he demeaned that kid like that. To the poor kid that he treated the worst, who just laughed it off and tried to pretend like he wasn't being talked to like that in front of a dining room room full of people, your parents must've raised you right because you had every reason to not stand there and take that.

We were taken to a booth and the seats and table were wet from the quick wipe it had just been given. It wasn't just wet, there were also lots of crumbs that had been left behind. As I looked around, I noticed that the floors were littered with trash and food also. Straw wrappers, napkins and bits of food were present under each and every table. I understand that during a busy rush, the staff probably can't take the time to sweep, but even after the rush nobody bothered to address it. There was a gentleman bussing tables who stayed "on patrol", though. He circled the dining room at regular intervals and made sure that dishes were cleared in a timely manner. I see you, sir! We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. That young lady was very kind and upbeat, which was quite welcoming. When she returned with our beverages, she offered to take our orders, but we weren't ready. And just like that, she ditched us! J/K, but kind of for real. A different waitress appeared and took over from there. She was efficient and took good care of us, but in a way, she wasn't as warm. She was no-nonsense and straight to the point. Our food was decent. My husband had The Special, which is a basic breakfast plate (eggs, French toast and bacon), I had the turkey club with fries, and my in-laws both had phily steak sandwiches with fries. The food didn't come out super fast, but that gave us time to settle-in and not feel rushed. It was quite nice and a change from what my husband and I are accustomed to where we live. We had a leisurely meal and caught up with old friends who wandered in and out during our meal. That was another clear sign that this place is a local favorite.

How authentic could a Vietnamese restaurant be in Danville? I already knew that authentic Chinese food could really only be found in Champaign, so what are the odds that this Vietnamese place was legit? Turns out, I've found my new favorite spot in Danville and I definitely want to try it all. Since it was quiet on my first visit, my first impression of the restaurant came through the owner/chef. Apparently he has a team of two when it gets busier, but he will handle things on his own when there are less people. Let me tell you, the owner is quite the character, but I think he really gives life to the restaurant. He's very outgoing, a bit of a jokester, but a very personable and hardworking guy, someone we can all relate to and admire. He talks freely about his life and how he ended up and Danville and the origins of his restaurant, all fascinating stories. You definitely miss out on the total experience if you don't get a chance to chat with him. So back to the original question at hand. How authentic could this Vietnamese food be? Here's the answer - absolutely legit, and delicious too! My first visit I ordered their grilled beef Vermicelli Bowl and I took it to go. It was organized very nicely and the dish was great. There were so many different flavors going on, but everything was balanced. The beef had a richness to it that was countered by the acidic vegetables and fish sauce that was poured over the top. There were also a lot of great textures from the chewy noodles, the beef, the lettuce and even the spring rolls. It was really filling and was an experience for my palate. While I had my noodles, I was thinking about another dish I saw on the menu so I came back the very next day to order their fried swai fish on fried rice. This was another incredible dish, and one that was very different than the last one. Rather than there be a lot of different components, there were just a few things done very well. The fish was fried perfectly and the flavor was popping. The fried rice was also done very nicely. This dish was a culmination of the restaurant itself, a few things done to perfection. Their menu isn't super big, a couple of phos and rice dishes, but I feel confident that in this case, less is more. The chef's kiss on this restaurant are the prices and portions. This restaurant has the quality and serves up enough quantity where they could charge $20+ easily. They do that in my hometown, and it's not nearly as good. I would implore you to support this local business, it's got a great owner with even better food, the best in Danville in my opinion!
