I honestly do not like leaving negative reviews, but this establishment really disappointed me in terms of accessibility and accommodations. I was on crutches after getting major reconstructive skin graft surgery on my foot and wanted gelato. This incident happened 5 or so days after the surgery. Despite the restaurant being open, the gelato entrance was locked. The ground was wet and icy, and after I hopped up the stairs to the gelato shop, I had to hop to the main entrance because there was nobody there. Thankfully my mother was with me to help hold open doors. Once I made it to the main entrance, I asked about the gelato, and the staff person said it was open, but I wouldn't be able to go through the restaurant to get there and informed me I had to go back around. I believe there was some sort of construction happening, but I struggle to understand why an accommodation couldn't have been made. In hindsight, I wish I had advocated for myself better. My mom helped me leave the restaurant area so I could hop back to the gelato shop in the icy rain, and once I made it to the back (again), the flooring in the shop was slick. Combined with the wet crutches and the slick ground, I fell and broke the fall with my foot that had received surgery. The staff person who directed me to go back outside and witnessed the fall did not even ask me if I was okay. I ended up calling 911 to get an ambulance to take me to the emergency room once we got home from the restaurant because I was terrified that the impact of the fall ripped the sewn bandage and graft out of my foot. Long story short, I'm disappointed at how this situation was handled by the restaurant. The gelato was fine. read more

I would give this place five stars if it wasn't for the profoundly shocking rude behavior of the staff. When I brought up the exceptionally rude behavior of the waiter to the gal who seemingly was the manager --- she laughed. Laughed. Yes, really ... laughed. She apparently thought it was funny. I have been in business a very long time --- that was in solid F minus. I was a dining room manager 40 years ago --- I would've been fired on the spot if I treated a guest in our restaurant that way. When I attempted to explain to the so-called manager, her laughter was inappropriate she began to lecture. She would not listen. She interrupted. Talked over. Then raised her voice. Essentially, she did everything a manager should never do. At my fell attempt to get my point across and then explain to her. This was no longer a productive conversation and excused myself to leave. After leaving, she then came out to my car. I thought perhaps she was going to apologize. When I rolled down my passenger window she started it again, repeating herself, interrupting, talking over me. I once again told her this was not a productive conversation, then rolled up my window. She was more like an ill manner child than a manager of any kind. I work in a hospital setting and had to answer a patient's text. As I pulled away she and another staff member, I believe a waitress, stood outside the front entrance screaming profanities and giving me the finger. This was an SNL skit on how to never ever ever treat a customer. Or a human being for that matter. Down the street is Daniella's & 9elm. Exceptional restaurants where anyone should bring their business. Not only is the food excellent but where guests are treated with respect. read more

The best oysters I've had...from Bigelow, Maine. Briny and wonderful. The background music was the perfect volume. The meatball appetizer was excellent. Now the entrees. I had the octopus as a main and it was served room temperature with more paprika than necessary. Overdone and not palatable. The pasta dishes were good but salty. The drinks got stronger as the night progressed but the first one was not weak, it was helpless. We had a 6 PM reservation. I called them up to let them know we had a problem with our car. He said they were going to charge me a $25 cancellation fee. I asked if we could come later. He said he would hold a table for us. The next morning I get a fee for $150 cancellation fee. I called the restaurant and the manager told me yes, we charged $25 per person for not showing up. I will never go to this restaurant again. I have heard that it is overpriced for the quality of the food anyway read more

I want to start by saying I never leave reviews. I never have it in me to complain when I am not happy with a meal. But this meal was very memorably one of the worst I've ever had. Usually my fiancée and I will enjoy the whole experience when dining out. A cocktail to start, a few appetizers, some wine with dinner, and dessert. We were dining on scholarship tonight, as we got a gift card for Christmas and had been meaning to try i Pazzi for a long time now. We decided to take it light and split the scallop and lemon butter pasta, the 10 oz filet with mushroom Demi, the the side of potatoes (which, after our very long wait for our entrees, never even made it to the table). The food came out ice cold and lacked in flavor. The steak tasted like it was cooked over a campfire and the lemon butter sauce on the pasta taste like microwaved butter with a lemon squeezed in it. To top it all off, the service was less than mediocre. Our server was un-engaging and didn't have much personality. In my opinion, great food can always make up for mediocre service but it's never ok when a restaurant lacks in both departments. My last issue with I Pazzi was the prices. We regularly dine at many north shore restaurants, and my eyes lit up when I saw the menu. I have no problem paying high prices for great food, but this restaurant has big balls charging $98 for a ribeye. Those are NYC prices. To be charged that in Danvers, MA for a sub-par steak is absurd. The only thing positive comment I have is the ambience. The place is beautiful. read more

Disappointed is an understatement. We used to love I Pazzi which is exactly why we decided to dine with them for our wedding anniversary. First, we go to their prior location which was closed. We thought they had shut down, but figured out they were still open after some internet sleuthing. Their social hadn't been updated since 2022 and there was no mention of the address change anywhere aside from their primary website. When we arrive, the host informs us that their open reservation time at the bar will not be honored because the kitchen is behind and they were reserving the rest of the bar for friends of the restaurant. Fine, so they sit us at a table. At the table, we wait an extensive amount of time to be greeted. I receive my glass of wine and my husband waits 20 minutes (if not longer) for a basic martini. They took close to an hour to get our appetizer order, gave us drinks, and didn't provide any other nourishment during that time. We are now waiting for an hour and finally the owner comes over and asks if we would like anything. We had not received our appetizers yet and were starving. We place the orders and ask for a bottle of wine. The server comes over as if this was an inconvenience. He opens the wine, looks agitated, and spills some of it on the table. This part can be overlooked, the poor service cannot. It has now been near TWO HOURS and we still have no food. We have been told multiple times that it will be out in five minutes. My meal comes out then my husbands, which was wrong. He clarifies that he asked for a bone-in filet and not for duck. They take this back and we share my meal while he waits. We're halfway done with our meal and finally his comes out... it's incorrect again. This time they bring out the boneless filet and the waiter just runs off before we can correct it. I wave him over and point it out only for him to assure us he will charge us for the correct meal. This meal came with potatoes and they still charged us $14 for an extra side of potatoes that was supposed to come out with his originally ordered steak. The steak was fine, nothing to write home about; same thing for the pasta. The gentleman next to me ordered a steak and sent it back twice. The owner was begging him not to leave a review, but she didn't care about our experience apparently. At the very end, a manager (or hostess, unclear) came over and asked how everything was. I was honest about how disappointing it was and she blamed it on new waitstaff. Having been patrons of I Pazzi for years, only going to celebrate special occasions, I can confirm their owner and chef was in the kitchen and should know how to manage a kitchen. We fully anticipated on spending a healthy amount of money for this celebratory meal, but we received poor service and cold food. A location we once loved will now be a location we no longer visit. It is a pity because the new location was beautiful and has a lot of potential. read more

As a seasoned professional in the industry, and as a human being, I was mortified to see such hard working ladies behind the scenes doing great work for an owner who leaves her purse on tables while prancing around (because she owns the place) and taking "her portion of tips at the end of the night for her hard work", but gave NONE to the actual workers in the back. Had dinner on a saturday night. The service was great and the food was incredible. We are fortunate enough to travel the US and Europe. ipazzi served us up the best meal in years. We went to I Pazzi last night for dinner. Firstly, we were greeted at the door and seated immediately in the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. We were introduced to our waiter who was most knowledgeable about the menu. We were served our drinks immediately. We never had to ask for anything the rest of the evening. Staff were very attentive! We started out with appetizers, octopus, fig salad, tuna carpaccio. All were so fresh and delicious. Dinner and sharing plates were the eggplant gnocchi, Bolognese, lemon pasta with scallops and mafalada with Waygu short ribs and Chilean Sea Bass. All excellent and presented and done to perfection. The Chilean Sea Bass was really outstanding! For dessert we had the Hazelnut and chocolate gelato and also the Creme Brûlée. Coffee and expresso. The gelato was really authentic as you can get here. Very comparable to Italy gelato. All in all the experience and food were top shelf! read more

One cannot charge above Boston prices for a restaurant in Danvers unless exceptional and our experience was not that. Salmon overcooked, could eat roasted potatoes due to over salting, waited 1/2 hour for our bottle of wine, waited 10 minutes for pepper. Great Caesar salad though. Maybe, because of a new location but wrinkles should be out by now. They have to lower the prices to survive the long haul.. read more

Service was excellent. Had the octopus appetizer which was flavorful. Main courses had the aged bone in filet which wad cooked and flavored perfectly. Date had the beef cannelloni which was also unique and excellent. Desserts , we tried the gelato which was some of the best i have ever had and also came with a pizelli , that was a nice touch. I rarely find a restaurant that everything was done correctly, and I Pazzi knocked it out of the park. Perfect date night location. read more

And the kitchen appreciation fee? I thought paying 70$ for a veal chop showed plenty of appreciation. I will not be back. I had gone to the original location and it was EXCELLENT. The food, service, ambiance -- all excellent. Maybe a bit overpriced. If this was in Boston, I wouldn't have an issue but we're in Danvers. I had a very different experience in the new location most recently. To begin, the ambiance left something to be desired. The original location was small, dark, and intimate. I understand the new location was larger--fine, but it was large, atrociously well lit room offering a completely different experience. It is like eating dinner in the lobby of a Hilton hotel, right down to the generic junk art on the walls. I am not, however, basing my rating on the ambiance -- it was different but fine. The service was a disaster. The host was very kind but had no idea what was going on. We're being shown a tablet with the seating arrangements, and he's explaining why we can and cannot sit in certain places. OK? We get seated -- cool. We're sitting at the table for 5-10 minutes just looking around, admiring the hotel-quality artwork, taking in our surroundings, before someone comes over and offers us water. An additional 5-10 minutes pass before someone comes over to ask if we'd like a drink or anything to start. As politely as possible, "Yes... A menu would be lovely". ~15 minutes to get a menu? We order a cocktail and a glass of wine. The cocktail comes out in 10 minutes, fine, no problem, but no wine. An additional 5-10 minutes later, the wine comes out. I know this because at this point I am annoying and looking at my watch, questioning if they're pressing the grapes in the back. If you're keeping track, that's about 35 minutes after being seated to get a glass of wine. Mind you it's a Thursday night and they don't appear to be that busy. The menu is also a bummer. I see they do note on the website that it is only a "sample" menu, but the selection is FAR smaller in the new location than the previous location. 2-3 items I would previously order at the original location were no where to be seen. OK, I guess... larger location, more customers, you have to streamline things. Bummer but ok. Our steaks arrive and the servers, two of them, have no idea which cut of meat is which (bone-in filet vs. bone-in sirloin). The wrong steaks are put in front of the wrong diner... Not a problem, I just question the server to confirm which is which. After swapping them back and forth and assuring me they are correct (They're not), they walk away. I sort it myself. The filet was dry-aged as advertised but I am reasonably suspicious that the sirloin was not dry-aged despite the menu (and price). At this point I am too annoyed to notice, or care, that the steak sauce was omitted. This leads me to my final gripe: The prices. The prices were questionable in the original location but it was an excellent experience. In the new location, I swear the prices are higher (but cannot confirm as they do not list on the website) but for a significantly lesser experience. Over $100 for a steak in this context? Not worth it. Save your money for somewhere that earns it/makes it worth while. Or just go to Davio's in Lynnfield. Same price, better selection, and you get what you pay for. I sincerely hope these are growing pains for the new location but based on other reviews saying it has gone downhill, I agree and--at least for now--have no plans to go back and have been advising other friends/family that enjoyed the previous location to do the same. read more

Came here last night with my husband for date night. The pros: Nice atmosphere Our waitress that evening was very courteous, friendly and attentive Food was delicious (some more than others) my gnocchi was amazing and we loved the fig salad. Gelato was delicious. The cons: Took quite a while to receive our food. From the moment we were seated (6:10pm) we didn't receive our food until 7:00 pm. There was only ONE waitress for a while and it was noticeable that she may have felt a little under pressure to take all the orders for every table (5 tables) and prepare their drinks. This is probably why it took a while to get the food out. Portion sizes are not for anyone who need a substantial meal. My husband's ravioli only had 10 small pieces. It's a good thing we ordered the Amish chicken (delicious) to share between the two of us. The ravioli was just ok...no flavours stood out. Tiramisu was a little disappointing in that the lady fingers were hard/stale. We prefer them more soft and soaked with coffee. The presentation of it was nice though! Overall, for the price to eat here and what we got out of it, this would be four stars. I would, however, be willing to come back at some point and give it another shot simply because many of our food items were very good. read more

We have lived in Danvers for 17 years and tonight was our first visit to Ipazzi. The service was friendly and our table was ready right away. The mussels were just perfection, the basil and rosemary just enhanced the flavor of these plump, succulent mussels, top notch! The focaccia was perfect for sopping up the amazing broth! For entrees I had the scallops and tagliatelle with broccoli rabe and toasted bread crumbs. My husband had the duck breast which was not very warm but was cooked to perfection, what an incredible sauce. Of note on the cocktails; my husband had the Little Italy and I had a dirty martini, both well made but vastly more expensive then you'd expect. My husband's cocktail was $23. Now the wine selection was extensive. We each had a single glass $15 each, and the pours were not generous. That's really my only critique-the food was high quality and the service was friendly. I loved this place at their old location, the food and service were always top notch. I'm not sure if they are reservation only now at the new space. Their website says walkins welcome but their phone message says reservations only. But be warned they can charge you if you can't make your reservation. My husband and I made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary and unfortunately had to cancel, I called 45min before our reservation. I was told there would be a charge and did not understand why so I asked to talk to a manager. Whoever I spoke to then proceeded to tell me in an extremely rude tone that this was their policy, they had been working since the morning to prepare, anyone that uses RESY (this was the first time I had heard of that restaurant reservation site) knows this is the policy, and they weren't going to charge me for the cancellation but they don't care if we ever eat their again. I have never heard of a reservation policy that can charge you for cancelling so it didn't occur to me to read the fine print. I can't be the first or last person to run into this confusion, hopefully they treat future patrons with more grace. I want to believe that this was growing pains in their new location and a just a bad day for whoever I spoke with. read more

The new location on High Street is wonderfully appointed. The decor is fresh and appealing (the old Friendly's remains only in the outer structure - and only if you look carefully). The wine list is extensive and we chose a Barolla 2017, which was good, but overly priced. The prices, overall, were a bit over the top. I say this especially because the food is mediocre. They do have fresh ingredients but the prep is dismal; way too much salt and cooking is way off. My pasta dish with calamari - cacia pepe was quite a mess- the calamari was barely par boiled, and the pasta was more raw than al dente and the cheese and pepper mix was a crude attempt for what I know can be a magical creamy combo. So rather than eat it or toss it, I took it home, and washed it all off with spring water and reinvented my own dish: I thinly sliced and sautéed the calamari with onion, carrot, and celery. I made a simple marinara sauce, reboiled the naked pasta and presto! a great dish. I think the owners are laughing at their clientele - we must all be crazy for falling for their culinary jokes. I was so looking forward to this restaurant's re-opening. But, I won't be returning to I Pazzi. I am not that crazy! read more

The new location is well done but a tricky layout if you want to have a drink waiting for your table. You're always in the way of [annoyed] servers. All bar seats are reserved so hard to get drink without disturbing other guests. The prices -- WOW -- SUPER expensive. $72 for 10oz filet (online menu is old says $64) Fettuccine with mushrooms is $54 (online says 39). Don't forget to add $8 for bread. THEN they add on a 3% Kitchen fee - which is just a money grab and should be the servers tipping out to the kitchen staff instead of a mandatory fee. In general, it seemed understaffed (which seems like a problem everywhere). On a positive note: The food was quite good and nice presentation. Our server was very nice (we believe it was an owner). Overall nice dining "experience" The prices and fee make it hard to love the place though. read more

We went there last night for a spontaneous date night and we are so glad we found I Pazzi. I got the wagyu short rib pasta and my husband got the lamb. Everything we tried was delicious and the portions were filling. We also had drinks, coffee and dessert. Our server was really sweet. Everything was perfection! Fabulous place for a romantic dinner. This place is special. The owners, a husband and wife duo, take particular care ensuring their diners feel welcome and that their every culinary need is met. My husband and I went a few years ago and again last night for our 15 year anniversary. Service is outstanding. The husband (chef) came out to wish us a happy anniversary. The wife made sure that the special dessert I requested was perfect and made great wine recommendations and was overall just gracious and wonderful. Our waiter was excellent. The food was exceptional. We had the octopus which comes from Portugal and is exquisite. We also had the tuna tartar, wild boar (just yummy!) and scallops. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The panna cotta and pistachio, melon, and salted caramel gelatos were out of this world. Love this place and will visit again soon. read more
