I am still new here and my friend asked me to go here with our kids. Bottom Line: This is a great family friendly place with a variety of foods at different price points making it affordable. My bill was $26.99 and I took half my sandwich home. When you walk in, the decor is such that you feel like you entered someone's dining room. I even remarked to the waiter how much I loved the wood table I was sitting at. Everyone was dressed casual and seemed to be having a good time. There is a big bar that is separate from the dining room with a lot of televisions tuned into sports. If you are into that, this is a great place for sports night. Anyway, the menu has individual and family size pizzas, oversized sandwiches, salads and entrees. The kids menu is good too. I ordered a sandwich with mozzarella sticks, french fries, chicken fingers, w marinara sauce. It was an open face monstrosity and I loved it because I could take half of it home with me. My son ordered the kids menu hamburger. The waiter explained that this sandwich did not have lettuce and tomatoes, which I thought was nice of him to let us know. Since I was penny pinching, I said that was alright. The portion size on his plate was more than enough for a growing pre-teen. I ate the first half of my sandwich happily and it was more than enough. My friend ordered a salad with buffalo chicken fingers and a drink from the bar and she was so happy with her selection. Bonus: *Sports TVs had tennis, basketball, football, sport news and even a WNBA game on. Normally, you are stuck on one sport. *They have a lot of employees. They are employing a lot of people so service is fast and helpful. Support a Beverly business that is supporting Beverly people. I would recommend this spot as a great relax and chill place. This places service is a hit or miss; more of a miss. When ordering via take out make sure that you get an acurate time. Was told 20 mins showed up 30 mins and paid and never got a receipt. I was told be ready in 2 mins then at 15 mins asked again and was told be right out in 5 mins. Again in 5 mins asked for status and got nothing and asked to speak to manager and hostess pointed to the man behind the line in the kitchen. I then asked can I speak to him but never got anything. At this point I had seen 3 other take out order get picked up in front of me and asked for a receipt finally got that but never got anything from the store even after waiting over 45 mins from the time I paid making my overall order time over 90 mins. 1 Star is the lowest option but it should be 0/5. This level of service at this price point is highly over rated save you time and money and eat elsewhere. read more

We decided to eat outside of Salem due to the insanity. Came to Beverly and glad we did. The tavern was not crowded together like sardines. The place was spotless. The food was great. I had the haddock sandwich and wow! It was delicious and filling. My niece's husband had the cheeseburger hot sub. It was massive. My bestie has the veggie sub and it was just as big. You will not leave hungry. The restaurant (not us) realized that my niece's meal was not correct and brought us a new one. The service was great! Now, if you want an absolutely amazing drink, order the apple cider margarita. Pace yourself, it is like everything else, huge. My family and I went to this place on our last night staying in Beverly and I'm so made we didn't discover it sooner. The food was mouth watering and delicious. The service was amazing. Our waiter Marko made our night. He was so pleasant and kind. This is definitely a spot my family and I would visit again and again now whenever we go to Massachusetts. I had the Philly egg roll for an appetizer, and it was really tasty. Then I had the gyro (lamb & beef) with fries. It was delicious; the meat was really juicy and the fries were crispy and tender (beer battered with some seasoning). I have lived in Beverly 30 year have been to Greg's a few times the food was just Ok. The drinks are little pricy. I ordered a pastrami sandwich My wife &I were sitting at the bar when the meal came out there was no mustard on the plate after a few minuets of trying to flag down a server / bar tender I asked for some mustard the bar tender went off on me she so rude to me she started to argue that I did not ask for mustard when I ordered it. sorry but I assumed like any other restaurant they would have it at the bar and just hand you a bottle of mustard but not at Greg's. she was pissed that she had to go get it from the counter. I left an said I will never come back there again to the bar tender she didn't care I have not been back sense. I also told my friends to stay away. We were a party of ten. Our server was Jason A. He was a delight. He deftly handled order taking and service with good humor and efficiency. He was knowledgeable about the menu selections and made welcomed recommendations. The Greek French Fries generously covered with feta cheese were shared as a starter and were a hit. Entrees included both lamb chops and lamb tips grilled medium well with a nice char. The various seafood choices were ocean fresh and plentiful. The favorite side dish was mashed potatoes. The dessert of choice was galaktobureko deemed outstanding by the Greeks in the party. The tiramisu got a rave review also. Auntie Angie gives two thumbs up. You can't get do better! read more

So...we'd read the reviews on this place (which were good, but you can never trust that they weren't simply placed by employees, or people with a vested interest in the place's success), so we visited for the first time tonight. The food was really, really good. The ribs could have been a bit more tender, but the calzone was good (and huge), the fish and chips were great, and the onion rings were outstanding. The portions were huge. The prices were good. The waitstaff was friendly and engaged (Steven, of note, and the bartender actually came over to our table to ensure he got our drink order correct). The ambiance was just ok, so that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars...the lights were WAY too bright and the place had an overall cafeteria feel to it.; too many tables, not enough booths, too many hard surfaces....it felt a little cold. We no longer live in Beverly but was there visiting family, and have wanted to try this new place where the Spotlight used to be. Interior is very nice and open with a large welcoming bar. All of the employee's went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Huge menu! We where there for a late lunch, had a gorgeous chicken Kabob salad, huge and beautiful vegetables and fresh and a tuna melt with grilled peppers and provolone cheese, was just delicious! Had a new canned seltzer drink Keel Seltzer, 0 sugar and 80 calories and very refreshing, gotta find some to buy! We will make a special trip to come back again! read more

Sorry Greg, I really thought you might have figgered out how to cook ribs by now. Here's the secret..., LOW & SLOW. The ribs I got tonight were just as boring & bland as a year ago. They were fatty & no flavor beyond the sauce, which is tasty. Please work on them "til the meat falls off the bone". Also got the Mac & cheese on the side. Once again the secret is CHEESE!!! After 3 tries I finally gave up on this place. Don't get me wrong here the food is good, not great but good. My grip is the delivery times. Their website says "ASAP delivery 45 minutes" . Being fairly regular patrons of Greg's, both for dining in and take out, we were very disappointed in our recent takeout order on Friday. Having ordered our usual fried Fishermans platter ($26+) which my husband and I share because 'usually' it's more than enough for 2 people. The meal tasted ok but where we took issue was the portion. The many previous times we've enjoyed the generous portions of this meal (plenty to share) but this time the portions were considerably less, especially with the fried fish. Each time in the past we've enjoyed 5 or 6 good sized pieces of tender fish, along with plenty of shrimp, clams, etc but this past (take out) meal provided us with only one piece of fish, and not even big enough for us to share! The other platter items were also much smaller portions with even less of the steak fries & onion rings which usually a given that there'd be plentiful....but not this time. We also ordered a clam roll, which was closer but not as generous as the regular portion size, except it had a significant mound of fries. We also added on 2 sides of coleslaw, for which we were charged $7.00 each but the slaw was so bland and lacking any flavor at all. Overall, very disappointing, especially from one of our favorite restaurants on the North Shore..... We're hoping it was just an off night for the chef so we'll most likely give Greg's another chance based solely on our great past experiences with them since their opening, but if we find this is the new normal of smaller portions but at the same significant price $26+, it's doubtful we'd return to Greg's thereafter. read more

This restaurant is one of the cleanest in Beverly! It has a family-run feel with friendly employees. Highly recommend the chicken kabob salad. Open for lunch most days. The online ordering system is a bit challenging for to-go orders, but I can look past that. read more

This place was honestly terrible. My husband and I sat at the bar and have never been so ignored. It took almost ten minutes before anyone even asked us what we wanted to drink and then the beers were foamy. We were confused to get used paper takeout menus, like the kind you get at a sub shop because it looks nice inside, more of a sit down place. We ordered another twenty minutes later after having to flag down the bartender again. The fries and my husband's rueben were okay but my cheesesteak was awful, somehow both dry and soggy. We paid and left after again having to signal heavily to even ask for the check despite the fact that there were 6 staff members in the bar area and more around, all hanging out rather than working. I honestly hope they either shape up or close so something better can fill the space on rantoul street. read more
