I recently discovered Gallo Nero on Main Street in Peabody, and I'm so happy I did! My son was hosting a pool party for his father's birthday, and pizza was the perfect grand finale for both the kids and adults. We wanted to keep everything local, and since my son loves Gallo Nero, I decided to stop in and explore...and learned exactly why he loves it here! I was warmly greeted by Bella and another gentleman who were both incredibly helpful and gracious. Planning food for a large group can be challenging, and it was wonderful to have people who truly care, offer suggestions, and take pride in what they do. I placed my order the day before, and Bella was fantastic -- she was patient, kind, and repeated everything back to make sure it was perfect. The day of the party, I got a little nervous that we had ordered too much and called about an hour before delivery to make a small adjustment. Once again, Bella was so accommodating, especially knowing how busy they were. The pizzas were personally delivered by the gentleman I had met in the store earlier (possibly one of the owners), which was such a nice touch and really says a lot about the pride they take in their business. Everyone loved the pizzas! Nice thin crust (but not too thin pizza), toppings were so flavorful. Plus it always amazes me how the classics -- cheese and pepperoni -- are still the biggest hits. I can't wait to come back and enjoy dinner at Gallo Nero with my husband and son. The restaurant looks charming and inviting, and I love their menu. Wonderful dinner spot! We came in with a larger party and they were so kind accommodating us all. Our group enjoyed the beautiful dining room and LOVED the food. Love this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal. They start you off with delicious bread and complimentary ricotta balls. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big, so we always bring half home. Bella, our waitress is always pleasant and the service is great. Full bar and draft beer available. Always clean. The Bruschetta, the bread was not really toasted so it was soggy. The cheese had not flavor. The sauce on the noodles was bland as well as the meatballs. The noodles we're not out in day and we're more on this really soft side. I will not order from here again. read more

A great hybrid lunch-dinner spot with a solid takeout operation, but still enough ambiance to make my wife happy. Service was prompt at first, but once we mentioned we wanted to take things slow, our server adjusted perfectly. The food was outstanding--veal saltimbocca for me and chicken parm for her. I'd put the veal up against anything in the North End. Montepulciano was smooth and well priced. This place is all around phenomenal!!! Starting with the staff, they are so accommodating, professional and friendly. I felt like I knew them all my life. The place was clean and very welcoming when we walking in. The food, well to say phenomenal is an understatement. We held my daughter's graduation dinner there. No one person was disappointed with the food, service or environment. I can honestly say I will be back and would definitely hold another event there. We have been going to Gallo Nero since it was Pops Pizza 30 years ago! We met the new owner Nick last night. He is great. The pizza is better than before! Salad dressing is great. On one side was a traditional pizzeria while the other side had that fine dining appeal to it. It's certainly a lot different from the 'Pops' days. Nonetheless, the pizza is good, the establishment is immaculately clean, and the service was outstanding. Davi Shurdha & his team couldn't have been more attentive and friendly throughout the entire visit. The only challenge is the parking situation but we made it work. We liked the ambience because we were with people we hadn't seen in a while and really wanted to talk and not have to shout. The owner (?) who waited on us was welcoming, personable, helpful, and generous, giving us a fabulous tiramisu for our wedding anniversary. Absolutely wonderful. I've ordered food from here quite a few times and the family's always enjoyed their pizza and fries. We we coming back from an event and needed food quick- we'd usually go to Brothers for something like that since their stuffs ready and it's better than typical fast food, but they were closing in minutes so we decided to dine in Gallo for our first time. We got seated immediately, they gave us a free little appetizer before giving us some nice bread & oil. Our four dishes came out very quickly and were all delicious. No kids menu but absolutely didn't matter, both kids found different meals they wanted and got good leftovers. Place was clean as a whistle and server was so kind to us. Tried this place for lunch on a Thursday. Walked in and place was empty. Was greeted nicely. Very relaxing atmosphere Lovely waitress. We needed extra time to decide what we wanted- we are 2 "older women". we never felt rushed. Brought us a complimentary appetizer-ricotta fried balls with marinara. She then brought us nice rolls with dipping oil which was excellent. I had a steak tip salad which was very generous and fresh steak cooked well. My sister in law had steak tip sandwich which she loved. Did not try dessert. 3 glasses of wine. Bill was 60$ which I thought was reasonable. Both my adult son, and I were incredibly impressed with this restaurant, which we had never heard of but decided to try I had the chicken marsala, which was incredibly generous, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. I asked for vegetables instead of the pasta and got a beautiful large plate of sautéed vegetables. It was among the best chicken marsala I've ever had especially because there were so many mushrooms and the sauce was delicious. My son had Carbonera pizza which was to die for. there was tons of chicken and mushroom and the sauce was extremely rich and yummy (I had a couple of pieces and took much of my dish home for another meal). I was impressed that they served these fried cheese balls for free to start the meal and then felt a little bad that we then canceled our own appetizer which we were going to share. We arrived late into the area and were looking for a place to eat. We came across Gallo Nero which appeared to be a small Italian pizzeria...wow we were wrong and VERY impressed! Delicious homemade pasta noodles made up my and my wife's dish. The waitress was very accommodating making suggestions and even brought us complimentary "Ricotta balls" (picture one). My wife ordered the Eggplant Rollatini (picture 2) what she thought was an Eggplant stacker, but with the menu being mostly Italian wording it wasn't what she was expecting...However more than exceeded our dinning expectations! It was like an eggplant lasagna and absolutely delicious. We both ordered pastas hers was the Chicken Picatta (Picture 3) A huge dish with large perfectly cooked chicken breasts homemade fussili noodles and a wonderful sauce with the perfect balance of wine and lemon flavor. I had the Papardelle Salsiccia e funghi....(Sausage and Mushroom pasta with a white wine sauce and truffle oils) (picture 4)....not what the chef or waitress recommended, But wow not disappointing at all! A dish full of flavor and textures with perfect homemade long wide noodles! But it's also a pizzeria with some basic pub fare. Offers dine in or take out! Sad to say it was not good :( margarita pizza was mostly sauce..just a few pieces of mozzarella. The chicken fingers very average. Our food was late and arrived cold but Davi was super nice on the phone at the restaurant & the driver was kind as well.
