A solid gelato spot in Breckenridge! My family stopped into I Scream Gelato after seeing some great reviews on Yelp. Customers are able to sample the gelato before deciding on a flavor but it is limited to two per person (understandable because I'm sure people can get carried away with all the deliciousness!) I tried the mint which was great but went with a small peanut butter in a cone. The gelato was delicious! I was a little disappointed there weren't many flavors with mix-ins (choc chips, etc) but there are a lot of topping options if that is your thing. There is limited seating indoors available for customers, but I saw most people take their cones and eat on-the-go along the main street of Breck. My friend and I came into I Scream Gelato on a whim. Upon entering, there was a moderately long line. However, the line barely moved as the store seemed to be understaffed. When we finally got to the gelato display, there was a sign stating each customer could only get two samples, and when I asked for some samples, I was only given a minuscule amount. Nevertheless, I was impressed by the creative flavors and settled on two separate flavors. As for the gelato itself, it was pretty good and quite smooth, but it was nothing to write home about. We stumbled upon this little hidden gem of an arcade while looking to get some ice cream, hidden upstairs was a fun arcade filled with games and prizes you could earn with electronic tickets that go directly to your game card. The prize station is located downstairs in the back of the shop which had many different prizes to choose from. Overall we had a great time with the kids, I love that there's another arcade with different games on Main Street. Gelato was good, but portions are small for the price and for reasons that are not clear and NOT POSTED BEFORE PURCHASE this business charges two additional fees to your purchase: a resort fee (??) and a service fee (gratuity - even though there is also a cash tip bucket at the register). What?! None of the other businesses or food establishments we visited during our five days here charged either of these extra fees. We paid over $27 for three gelatos. We also visited the arcade over the gelato shop and there were extra fees there as well: a fee to get a card and also tax charged on the game card. When we went to Downstairs at Eric's a few days earlier, they had neither of these additional charges for their arcade. Plus, at least a third of the games seem to be out of order (both VR games, a Wild Tuna fishing game, skeet ball, etc). read more

I was drawn to the name of this place..."I Scream Gelato" but I really wanted ice cream. Now I'm not really a connoisseur of gelato by any means but this place looked fun and I'm always down to try new dessert places. This place had a nice charm to it and if it wasn't so crowded it would have been nice to be able to sit in and enjoy the atmosphere. I was super indecisive about what I wanted to get and I decided to just wait and see what "popped" out at me when I saw the case. I admit it wasn't easy cause all of them looked so good. I ended up getting the salted butter caramel in a cup. I figured it would be less messy than a cone but the cones did look really fun so maybe next time I will try a cone. There was a whole lot of choices of toppings that you can add to your gelato from sprinkles to cookie crumbles to cereal. I didn't get anything on mine cause I wanted the purity of just a good gelato. The gelato also came with a cute "I Scream Gelato" cookie wafer which I wanted to purchase separately. You can't by the way. I enjoyed the flavor of the gelato but with the warm weather it started melting pretty quick. I think because it started melting I ate it faster than I would have liked. If I could have, I would have gone back to get a pint or 2 to take back to the house with us. I won't dub this as my go-to since there are other gelato/ice cream shops in Breck but given the opportunity I would definitely come back to try some other flavors. read more

I paid about $10.00 (almost $12.00 with tip) for one scoop of ice cream on a sugar cone. The ice cream (chocolate peanut butter) was good, but not great. The sugar cone tasted stale. The one scoop was rather small. Was not worth it. For what it is worth, the clerks were very attentive and pleasant. PSA!!! Be aware of the extra "snuck in" charges!!! We have spent 4 days in Breck/Frisco area and made purchases in roughly 20-25 establishments, and any extra "fees" were openly listed on menus, explained by servers, etc. I Scream Gelato, however, is quite deceitful. This business does not disclose these extra charges, and thankfully I asked for a printed receipt. We got back to our condo and called to inquire. The staff that answered said she wasn't sure, including that the "resort fee" was an "extra tax for the company". I challenged this, so she called a manager (she told me there was not one there). The final explanation was this: The "resort fee" is "sort of a city tax; an extra charge for the town"--on top of state taxes (however note that not one other business tacked this on). The "service charge" is "like an automatic gratuity" (also note that the electronic check out system, like most companies, prompts buyers to add gratuity as well). The call ended with the employee stating "if you want to come back tomorrow and complain to a manager, you can". *May be helpful if we didn't have to leave at 6 am to catch our flight home* DO BETTER *I SCREAM GELATO*!!!!! Pretty forgettable unfortunately. I understand that it's gelato but it was pretty soft even for being gelato. Probably around twelve flavors to choose from. The lemon meringue was the best but we ultimately ended up going with coconut and melon. The melon was really refreshing and tasted just like cantaloupe and the coconut had shavings in it which gave it a nice texture. We paid $15 for two of the smallest cup sizes they offer. While the nights and mornings are cool in Breckinridge, the midday sun can get pretty warm making an cool, sweet treat (like gelato) very appealing. The store has a cute and trendy interior and exterior with decorative neon signs that catch your eye walking by. The captivating aroma of waffle cones and other sweet treats fills your nose when you walk into the shop. As you step in you will most likely be greeted by a long line of likeminded individuals patiently waiting for their gelato. The upside of the long line is the time to debate your gelato selection. One scoop? Two scoop? Toppings? Bubbly waffle cone or dish? After much debate I settled on the peanut butter gelato in a dish but would love to try the bubbly waffle next time. Great service, fun decor, clean, organized and tasty gelatos. They allow a taste sample of two per person which is perfect since my husband and I shared our samples and ended up having to choose between four amazing flavors. They all tasted just like the flavors they said they were, I thought the Ferraro was so spot on on to those delectable choco hazelnut balls. They also had a dairy free and vegan option which is nice to see too. They have three sugar cone flavors made in house, matcha, red velvet and chocolate and they actually tasted like their flavors. I think the matcha was the most subtle and had a hint of that bitter bite that happens when matcha gets heated on high, IYKYK on this one. They also have Hubble waffles and an array of espresso drinks I can't wait to try next time when I stop in a little earlier.
