We ended up having to buy a day old cinnamon roll but they heated it and it tasted fresh and delicious! The chocolate croissants are so flaky. I had them 3 days in a row. The employees are all so friendly. The baker is so nice and I enjoyed talking to her about FairPlay and taking time off in winter to go somewhere warm like South Padre, Texas or Hawaii. They also make great sandwiches. We grabbed some for a day out and about. Loaded with meat and made fresh. And of course we had the ice cream one afternoon. Creamy and smooth- full of flavor. Once discovered while on a trip, we went back daily. The staff is so genuinely kind and pleasant. Nice people, quick service, over all 10/10. Outside seating nice, indoor seating nice. Very nicely decorated feels warm and cozy, restrooms are nice and clean. All employees are so so so kind and friendly. Coffee is fresh, hot and cold depending on what you order. Somewhat pricey but worth it. The ice cream cones are large and ice cream is amazing! The best spot in this small, historic town - every time we are in South Park now I make sure we stop by here to grab some sandwiches & ice cream! The historic building is beautiful - love all the old touches, like the tin ceiling, the old-fashioned, pull-flush toilet, and the old cash register. The ice cream is from Liks in Denver, so you know it's good, and it's super reasonably priced. The sandwiches are delicious as well, and a very generous portion. All the employees and owners have been super friendly every time I have gone in. Located right on the corner of downtown, this is the perfect place to stop if you're looking for a quick snack on your way back home. My new favorite! read more

I don't think an ice cream place could get more classic than this! The building is a historic gem, located in the town center with a tin ceiling and a century-old (non-functional) soda fountain. The ice cream is delicious with creative flavors -- I believe it's all from Liks in Denver, so not technically homemade, but high quality and handmade. The sandwiches looked good too if you think ice cream alone isn't a balanced meal. The folks working were keeping up with a midday weekend rush and keeping good spirits. read more

In the heart of South Park (yes! THAT South Park), and just down the road from the Western Town Museum, is this adorable ice cream shop with old style charm -- right down to the striped green wallpaper. There are only two blocks in this entire town, so it's easy to spot and walk to. So if you're driving around looking for it, I would be concerned about more than just your poor driving skills! Perhaps you're a piston short of a real engine? Anywho! This place has awesome ice cream. I thought I was going to faint over the salty butter caramel. If I wasn't already married I might have eloped with a gallon of that stuff. In fact, I'm still considering it. There's some small tables inside as well as inside the ice cream shop. Wow! We found this shop in FairPlay on the way from Breckinridge to rafting in Buena Vista. It's off the main highway one block. I had a ham/Swiss on a roll. They loaded it up with ham and Swiss! Imagine that; put a "foot long" to shame. My wife had ham/American on buttermilk bread. So good!!! When we left, we could see why the line was going out the door! Many sandwich places could take a lesson from this shop. PS -- kids got a kick out of the old-fashioned pull-chain toilet in the bathroom. read more

The owner has this "look" of someone who would just fit perfectly in an 1800's picture with this kind of business! Except he was wearing modern clothes..... I really meant that as a compliment but I think he may have taken it as an insult. SORRY!!! But this place is so cute.... just like an 1800's ice cream soda parlor. And the owner just has the "look" for it....... I had a sandwich on a croissant, it was EXCELLENT. And free refills on the ice tea, they just kept filling it up without me asking! And I had some ice cream. BEST BEST BEST ice cream! I can't believe I had ice cream in mid November in Colorado at 10,000 feet! Even though it was high 40's it was sunny and I wasn't wearing a coat! Price was not bad, either! I don't have an RV any more, but I'll comment. Basically NO place to park an RV..... Unless you park it somewhere else in town and walk over........ We loved this time capsule of a diner/ice cream shoppe. As a waypoint in our journey, it couldn't be beat. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, and the ice cream was much enjoyed by us and our kiddos. Their attention to detail in creating an ambiance was tangible. The diner was charming, well kept and a trip back in time. The staff was very friendly and attentive. One of them noticed that we got a sandwich to split between two of our small children and they brought out an extra plate for our son to put his half on to.
