Sweet Life, to me, is like coming home…read more While growing up, we'd come here after pretty much anything positive to celebrate. Then, for years it was one of two places I both wanted to go to and take people to experience each time I visited. Now that I live here again, I strangely only get delivery. However, even saying the name brings on a childish grin (and possibly happy tears) to my eyes! It doesn't hurt that their key lime tart is my favorite dessert not called sorbet of all time. Oh, yes, they also have sorbet, and while it isn't on Wanderlust's level, I don't care. They execute every single thing with a level of precision and care that you just don't see often, and somehow do it in a way that feels welcoming! Thank you, Sweet Life, thank you.

Can't believe this is a patisserie in the States. They have so many beautiful and delicate sweets…read morethat could totally be seen in a patisserie in Tokyo or Hong Kong. I got the tiramisu and two pieces of chocolate. The tiramisu was a bit different from the ones made with ladyfingers. I think this one was made with chiffon cake instead, so the texture was a little bit dry for my liking. The flavor was good though, more on the chocolate side. I liked the earl grey chocolate, but man, I couldn't stand the little yellow dots on it. They reminded me of those little eggs from some insect that lays eggs on your clothes in the summer. The earl grey filling was nice, smooth and citrusy. The passionfruit chocolate was really cute, kinda had the look of a quail egg shell. The filling was a bit more sour compared to the earl grey one. But in general both chocolates were quite similar. My partner had the zucchini pound cake, and he loved it a lot. I don't know much about Eugene, as we were just passing through on our road trip, but I'd definitely recommend people come here when they visit Eugene.

While we were on the wait list for dinner across the street at Gianni's we decided to walk around…read moreand take a look at the other stores in the area here by the UO campus. I had the intentions just to browse until I saw their cheese cake brownie. I had no idea what Gianni's had on their dessert menu and I didn't care to wait and find out. I chose that before we went to eat, and we had dinner I dug in and it was love at first bite. Since I'm not a coffee drinker I never step into small cafes on my own or look around to check out pastries, but I'm glad I made the exception here.

Sweet Life Petite is the mini-version of the original Sweet Life. This one's located on Campus…read more(well, not technically on campus but like right by campus). It is indeed pretty small; there's an "in" door and an "out" door so and since the line can form pretty quickly. They're pretty fast though, so even if the line is close to the door (which it was once when I visited) you'll still be out within about 10 minutes or fewer. One of my favorite things from Sweet Life are their morning pastries--specifically, their cinnamon roll and the lemon cream bun. Both are amazing, and whilst the cinnamon roll is my personal favorite, if you have to choose get the lemon cream bun. It's different from something you've tried before; you can't get one of these everywhere and it's amazing. Their tiramisu is good too, and the some of their other cakes. Check out their specials--there's always something good to choose from. This location has no dedicated parking, just a few spots on the street (shared with Prince Puckler's, the pizza place, and other businesses around). There's a lot of outdoor seating, nice for warm summer evenings.

How can one turn down homemade ice cream? Not me! I had a single scoop of banana caramel in a cup…read moreand I think I will never have a banana ice cream anywhere else but here. The ice cream here is so creamy and full of natural flavor. In my ice cream, you can taste the fresh vanilla, bananas and the super gooey caramel sauce. Yum!

We're talking early 80s... a whole different world. You had folks still hanging on to the 70s like it owed them money bell-bottoms, wild personalities, and people that were just downright funny without even trying. I swear, half the entertainment wasn't even the ice cream, it was just sitting there watching humanity stroll by in all its glory. But let's not get it twisted the ice cream absolutely hits the spot. This is that soul food for the student grind. When studying runs too long, when the day's been rough, when the Oregon heat sneaks up on you, or when you just need a little reset... this is the place. Scoop after scoop, flavor after flavor, it never lets you down. And being right there by the University of Oregon? Come on. There's just something about grabbing a cone on campus that feels right. Timeless. Like it belongs there. Customer service has always been solid, the vibe is iconic, and the whole place carries this charm that refuses to fade. Some things change over the years... this place just keeps being exactly what it should be. Five stars. Always has been. Go Ducks !!
