I stopped here today to get milkshakes with my friends. I got a chocolate peanut butter shake and it was fantastic. It was so thick and rich. I wanted a peanut butter banana shake but they were out of bananas so I got chocolate peanut butter instead and I don't regret it at all. The restaurant was fairly busy but we got our shakes quickly. Dickie's Frozen tTreats is a weekly staple in our lives. We have found some options that are dairy free, within a good calorie range, and then some we just go and have a big treat with toppings and fresh fruit or chocolate fudge sauce. It just depends on the week. They used to have more flavors change out. It seemed like almost every month. There was new options. But they have had the same options for the last three or four months. My favorite ever was the peanut butter frozen yogurt. But they haven't had that in over a year. I keep asking the staff to let the owner know that it is extremely popular. If they had peanut butter frozen yogurt come back. I'm sorry to say it would probably be a daily staple in my diet. It's that delicious! They also have options that are sugar-free from time to time. Currently the sugar-free option is toasted marshmallow and is very good. Our favorite is cake batter flavor. It seems like it's a vanilla frozen yogurt, but has a nice stronger vanilla flavor. It's very delicious for 5 1/2 ounces, It's 110 calories. Very doable. As long as you can stick to 5 1/2 ounces. It's worth it. It's rich and creamy and satisfies. I like the location. It's always clean inside the ambience is just of a fast food white clean restaurant. Attached to the frozen yogurt is Dickie Joes cheeseburgers, french fries, hotdog, corn, dogs, and all kinds of naughty options. They have very affordable kids meals that you get a nice serving of french fries a regular size cheeseburger and a small drink of your choice. I think it's $6.99 for the kids meal and it actually fills up an adult. So it has something for everyone. Give it a try and enjoy the frozen yogurt test samples. You get 3 little cups to test your flavor before you purchase one. Makes it really nice. Enjoy! read more

At least half of the times I've tried to go here during their business hours they're closed. Tonight the YO'Pen light is even on and there are posters and high chairs up saying "closed for the night." It's 8:30. They close at 9:00. I saw the bright lights of DY's as we drove by earlier in the evening prior to dinner at BJ's and was relieved we made it out of dinner just in time to get there before they closed. They had so many unique flavors it was hard to decide what I wanted. In the end I went with the POG (passion orange guava) and peanut butter. This is 4 stars because the topping selection is satisfying, but could be a bit better. I ordered a waffle cone and it was extremely stale. When I complained, the employee only said it was made that same week. No one was behind the counter for the first 10 minutes we were there. My husband and I were making a visit to World Market last night, and he decided he wanted frozen yogurt. It didn't appeal to me, but I felt like being accommodating. So off we went. We walked in, not greeted, nothing exciting. We were kind of left to figure things out on our own. A customer in front of us offered to let us go ahead, but we didn't know what we wanted. They offered up a couple suggestions, as to what their favorite was, as well as a couple other family members. They were super helpful, and didn't even work there. Lol. I had the cake batter frozen yogurt, on the suggestion of the customer I spoke about in the last paragraph. It was either that or vanilla. Nothing else really appealed to me, and I didn't have high expectations for enjoying my choice. I added blue M&Ms (yes, I am the asshole who picked through and took every single blue one and no others), crushed almonds, pecans, white chocolate, and fresh raspberries to my frozen yogurt. I didn't pay much attention to what my husband did to his, as he was too busy judging me for only eating blue M&Ms. We went and paid for it. Customer service is nothing exciting. Someone stands behind a counter to weigh your cup, tells you a price, and you pay. I didn't even see any kind of menu to tell me prices, so I can't compare them to anywhere else. We sat down to eat, and I started picking at my raspberries. I love, love, love raspberries, and quite honestly figured that would be the only part I could tolerate. Oddly enough, I was surprised that the cake batter frozen yogurt was pretty good. I couldn't finish mine, so of course, I pass it off to my human vacuum cleaner to finish for me. Will I return? I don't know that I'll ever be the one to suggest making a stop here to my husband, but at least I won't be quite as hesitant when he brings up the idea. read more

I am loving Dickie Jo's latey! I have always loved the garlic fries, and well yes burgers, but the new burgers on the menu have me actually wanting burgers when they are usually the last thing on my food wants. I also some times get the chicken strips. I like that they are made with ritz crackers. The chili is good, and so is the blt's! Everything you want on a summer eve, and when your done eating if your not too stuffed fro yo is right next door! Who does not love fro yo? I just found out they make peanut butter sandwiches on what looks like their home made bread, I am a sucker for peanut butter! I think I am going to have to be a kid again and try one! Another thing I would like to add to my list is the protein bacon burger, with egg. I have been eating a GF life style lately. They do offer GF buns, but I prefer no bun. Yesterday, Emily was behind the counter and publicly embarrassed our 22 and 12 year-old granddaughters by loudly calling them out, claiming she saw them sampling out of the candy bins. That did NOT happen as I was also watching what they were doing. When their elderly grandfather intervened on their behalf, Emily was so disrespectful and rude to him, I was appalled! I am pleased that there is a place like this in the area. Where we moved from in California had one like this and my daughter had been wanting to find one up here. You can tell that this place isn't as popular as it used to be and it's not kept up as much as it probably used to be. But we are thankful that it is here and that we can go here. The soft serve frozen yogurt doesn't have the mouth feel that I usually like. It melts pretty quickly. I usually like a thick and luscious soft serve. But it'll do the job and you get lots of toppings which is nice. If you are looking for a place that serves frozen yogurt with all sorts of toppings, this is the place that you want to go. Love this place! The flavors and toppings are great, and they have real-deal softserve ice cream. That's a truly difficult thing to find these days. Well every time we go is somewhere within the closing hour. Every time all furniture outside is locked. IT's SUMMER ! WHY?? The inside is also near closing. Sometimes half the toppings are gone. If you close at 9, then WAIT until 9. Tonight it looked as though the yogurt was not as frozen as usual. So I went up to the young lady at the counter who had two hickeys on her neck and I asked her about this. She said it is yogurt. It's soft it's frozen yogurt. Like I didn't know that, I then proceeded to put toppings on my dessert -which were very stale - again. I mentioned to her that I thought maybe the machines had not frozen the yogurt and she said that's how it's supposed to be it's frozen yogurt. well I've just been eating frozen yogurt for 20 years and that's not how it is supposed to be, she was rude and clearly wanted to get out of there early. The cost is based on weight so be careful if you don't bring enough cash to cover your tower of goodness. For 3 of us with toppings and add-ons, it was just under $20. BUT, I got a bunch of punches on my punch card so I'm well on my way to a freebie. Their selection was amazing, I felt like it was too many options to pick from. Cashier just kept repeating, "they're full, nothing I can do about it" while I held the levers down and the machines just dripped gross syrup on my one rapidly melting dab. When my plane landed in Eugene and I was seeing the city for the first time, my friend and driver offered to take me to lunch. Her first choice in this early afternoon was Dickie Jo's, and I absolutely love dining on other's local recommendations. Entering Jo's it was apparent that it is a local favorite. The decor was classic as you ordered off the menu at the counter and had food delivered to your table. They had a banquet/party room that could be reserved in the back, and a frozen yogurt shop (Dicky Yo's) attached also. In the party room was a cool automatic hand washing device which I have never seen or used before. I ordered a burger as it seemed like the just thing to do. My friend got a basket of chicken strips. She claimed they were some of her personal favorite because they were breaded with ritz crackers. When the food was delivered I throughly enjoyed my burger, and my few bites of chicken I was gifted. It reminded me of a Fuddrucker's burger, as the bun was super fresh and patty cooked medium rare. Flavorful meat and toping made this an ideal and cheap 1/3 burger. I was satisfied by both quality and quantity. This was the only place I ate at more than once in my week long Eugene trip, and I now know why students rave about it. Great local food. read more

Ever go somewhere you KNEW you would hate, but turns out to be a pleasant surprise once you arrive? This happened to me yesterday when we stopped at Dickie Yo's for some frozen treats. I am ANTI Dickie Jo's, so I was convinced that I would hate this just as much. For the first time in 32 years, it turns out I was incorrect. Yo's is clean and put together pretty well. They have a few different options for Fro Yo. I really wanted a cookie dough blizzard from DQ, however I was able to find some Vanilla/Chocolate swirled soft Ice cream and was able to add as much cookie dough as I wanted......sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I had to do some major cavity prevention once finished. The going rate here is .44 per ounce. IMO that's pretty fair. We all had 3 generous bowls and it was right around $10 for all of us. Now, I would MUCH rather hit up Red Wagon or Prince Puklers, however this was a good stop, with a good value, and I wouldn't mind hitting it up again. I will say I really like The burgers here, but not the prices. buns are soft and fresh, while holding up well. Meat tastes great. I love the green chili burger here.... Fries and drinks are not included with the burgers here. When you get fries a drink and a burger you are eclipsing 12+ dollars. It isn't even sit down service.... I've only been here once, but I actually love what I got. I went to this place with my American Mom, and I tried some frozen yogurt with hot fudge, chocolate chip cookie dough, M&M's and Gummybears! Mmmmmmmm that tasted like paradise! I wish I could come back again, since I'd love to try some peanut butter frozen yogurt. That's another flavor I love. Great place to take the kids, $5 - 6 a cup with topping kind of pricey but I don't eat frozen yogurt. There is a large variety of toppings the the kids loved. The cups are large enough two adults could share one easily. Establishment is very clean and open, not much for parking so we parked across the street at VRC, no problem. Oakway center has ousted Cold Stone Creamery and opened its arms to local chain Dickie Yo's frozen treats. my husband was a little disappointed because he prefers ice cream into this new trendy frozen yogurt.personally I am happy as long as the toppings are good, and they are! Like most frozen yogurt shops in town they have a variety of flavors that probably change periodically, which today included red velvet cake, peanut butter, cake batter and others.I'm pretty sure all soft serve places in town sell the exact same soft serve, at least it tastes identical everywhere. Not spectacular, but it's not like it's that much better anywhere else either. In addition to their candy, boba and fruit toppings, they also have sauce is including a really awesome marshmallow sauce. The only thing I didn't like it as much is that their only option is a huge cup. I kind of felt pressure to buy more than I would normally eat. However, I have discovered that mochi pieces and marshmallow cream are a killer combination. since I don't really care all that much about frozen yogurt, I might just go back for a tub full of mochi and marshmallow.
