So I've been loving all kinds of brown sugar drinks from boba places recently and found out they had one here! I was so glad to hear that and knew I had to try it! Even though it was very cold today (Saturday), that didn't stop me from getting my boba/milk tea fixing! I went here around 4:15pm and there was no wait, but soon after I ordered, came a long line. I didn't find the brown sugar drink I saw on Yelp on the menu, so I asked the worker if they still have those brown sugar drinks. She said they did, but it came with pudding instead of boba. That didn't bother me. About 5 minutes later, I got my drink. It looked nothing like what I was expecting. I expected my drink to have that brown sugar syrup dripping on the insides of my cup like some other milk tea places, but it was just brown sugar mixed in my drink. I was ok with that too since my drink was still very good and would be mixed anyways. They gave me the Okinawa Milk Tea (brown sugar is mixed in it). I'd recommend this place! The drinks here are good and more affordable than other boba shops, they have some cute looking drinks on the menu in case you want to order something for some nice foodie pics, and the line went by fast! Service 2/5 , first off they charge you an extra $.50 if you use card and the amt isn't over $15. lol so I had to go get some cash - went there on a Thursday at 12pm. Ordered on a Tuesday around 1pm. They're only allowing one person at a time in the store. I got the taro milk tea with boba, 50% sweet and 30% ice. Itea's quality isn't as great as it was when it first opened. I remember having actual taro chunks in the drink, and it not being as purple as it is now, which makes me question if they're just using taro powder to make the drink now. The boba is still consistent. It's nicely chewy. Even at 50% sweet, the drink is really sweet for me. Despite COVID, they still charge a fee for using a card for orders under $15. I wish they didn't. I have always liked this store. I have been visiting since it opened. The taste has not changed. Other stores basically use machine-cranked tea, but I tea has always been hand-cranked. There is a detail that I am very satisfied with. When serving the cup, the clerk will wipe the water off the cup before giving it to the customer. This detail has never been seen in other stores. This place is ok, the store itself is really small, so there's only one customer allowed in at a time while a large queue waits outside. There's an awkward shuffle of people going in to order and people coming in to pick up their drinks. They have a wide variety of drinks, and they post a picture of the menu on the wall so you can look at what to get before you go inside the store (or you can be a pro and look up the menu before you even decide to go to the restaurant). This is my mom's favorite boba shop, her go-to items being the M3 or the Mango Sago drink. I think their drinks are decent, and you don't have to wait very long for your drink to come out. Unfortunately, for the past few times I've been here, they're always out of the P series. Not a fan of the actual boba as it's a bit hard in comparison to their OG chinatown location. read more

Drinks here are pretty good - I've only had the panda milk tea and the one with boba, egg pudding and grass jelly. I love the option to customize not only sweetness level, but also ice level. Usually boba spots only say light ice or no ice. Here, you can do percentages like 30% ice. Now I'm not trying to complain but service on this specific day was just horrendous (05/13/2023). I had to write a review today because the lady behind the counter was just doing an awful job - sorry to say. There was a short line when we arrived. The guy in front of me got his drink as soon as he ordered - I didn't even get a chance to say my order yet because the lady took his order, left, and came back with his drink. She wasn't even the one making the drinks so why is she not focused on taking orders? Because turns out, they were friends. When she brought him his drink, he tried giving her $15 and she kept refusing it. He kept pushing her to take it and said something about "it's for last night" which at this point, I'm thinking "girl, just take it so I can order and move on with my day." Finally, she took my order but wasn't even focused since she was busy talking to the guy and another girl who are both just standing to the side taking up space in an already very tight space. The other girl also was the cashier's friend because I overheard her introducing the friend to the guy prior to this. So I guess she just has people hanging out at her work place. I ordered 2 panda milk tea. One was a large panda milk tea with 30% ice and 100% sweet. She didn't pay attention when I mentioned the ice part because of her side conversation and had to ask me again. I was whatever about it but what's annoying was she also didn't hear that I said LARGE because she charged me for 2 regular sizes and both were indeed regular sizes. I then waited about 15 minutes while others after me already got their drinks and I just see her chatting away, until I finally got my order. A boba place on Irving street that I can always go to if I'm craving milk tea! I always get the Earl Grey Milk Tea and I love that it's consistent in taste every time I get it. This time I asked for no boba but I didn't realize until after I had left that they had given me boba. The boba is not the best as it was pretty hard and I usually like boba to be more chewy. The Brown Rice Milk Tea drink was also good too and wasn't too sweet for 30% sweetness. The Panda Milk Tea drink comes with boba and jelly which are alright, nothing too special, but with 50% sweetness it tasted fine. If you pay with card, there's a small fee with the transaction until you hit the minimum, so sometimes I pay with cash. They have a large range of food and drink options on their menu too so you're bound to find something you like! Overall, I like getting the Earl Grey Milk Tea since it's pretty consistent and for a pretty good price too ($5 for a regular). read more

I usually get the Hokkaido Milk Tea because it comes with the jelly, I forget the name, but it's good with 50-75 percent sugar The other day, I got the pineapple fruit tea with 35% sugar because that's the lowest it can go. I typically get 0% with fruit teas. The tea was okay, wasn't really anything special, boba was bland, boba guys boba or camelia rose boba in San Diego is better because it has a sweet flavor to it. The front counter staff informed me that they couldn't accept cash because they had already counted it for the day, even though the shop closes at 9:45pm. Additionally, I was told I would have to pay a $0.50 credit card transaction fee per company policy. Aware of their credit card fee, I always bring cash. I asked if they could waive the fee since they couldn't accept cash. This staff member refused, citing company policy. I offered to pay in cash again, but she insisted she couldn't take it. When I pointed out that the fee is a manual POS add-on, she still refused and said "I will not be able to serve your drink", with an unfriendly demeanor. I understand that a $0.50 credit card fee is minimal and recognize the challenge the restaurant industry faces in San Francisco. However, refusing customers for the sake of convenience is unacceptable. Fortunately, another staff member understood the situation and allowed me to pay in cash. This experience was frustrating because I was forced to pay a fee despite having cash. Whether this issue stems from a policy or an isolated incident, it left a negative impression. I had a pleasant experience at i-Tea despite all my friends calling it rubbish. I like to give people and food the benefit of the doubt. Upon walking into what I remember was Tea Way (back in the day...), I was instantly brought back to my younger years where I use to sit by the window seats and people watch after school. OK anyways I ordered the wintermelon milk tea with boba. It hit forsure. Literally I could not sleep until 2am that night. Trust me. I like iTea. I've been to several of them around the Bay. However, this one seems a lil' sad. Bigger than Oakland Chinatown but smaller than Alameda, this Irving St one seems on the brink of shutting down. Part of the problem is the poor small business climate along Irving. There are so many store fronts closed. But this place survives so far. And I hope it succeeds!! But the competition is rough with so many boba places nearby. The quality of the drinks are fine and seem to be the same as the other locations. But the amenities are lacking. When I asked for napkin, the cashier / server brought out a roll of toilet paper for me to pull from. And the sitting area along the glass front wall / side wall is cluttered with boxes as if it just arrived. I'm pretty sure this was not the case. So there is nowhere to sit. Perhaps undermanned and unable to keep up with the daily management, I feel badly for this place because I do like their brand. read more

Originally from Arizona where I-Tea only presents at only Tempe city. SF galvanizes me by offering tons of I-Tea If you had a chance to revisit my reviews on Tempe's I-Tea, you would realize that the shop didn't satisfy me as a boba-savy. Although, one user privately messaged me and exclaimed her penchant toward the little gem of city of Tempe. I wholeheartedly disagreed. Apparently, not all I-Tea serves snacks alongside. Having to buy that all I-tea did, after I visited Tempe's, I was staunchly discontented to a little shop in SF (which understandably I chose the crowded and beaten SF out of other cities). Not only they serves zero snack, they got my ordered wrong after a 20 minute wait. Hence, there comes my ultimate -3 stars. One pro I would say from this shop is it offers more drinks than those of Tempe, including soft tahu as an add-ons. I will NOT be coming back to this I-Tea location anymore. Racial Discrimination is never acceptable in any business practice. So I came here with my BF (who's INDIAN). As soon as we stepped foot into the store, one of the woman who was taking orders immediately told us that we had to wear a mask and to step out. That's fine. Since we left ours in the car, we said sorry and proceeded to get our masks from the car. No big deal cause I understand that we're still in a pandemic . What is unacceptable is the fact that as we went back, we saw that there were multiple customers (all Chinese) who did not have nor was wearing a mask yet she was still taking their orders. Like one man was literally COUGHING in her FACE, while she was taking his order and she said nothing to them & still continued to take their orders. When we saw that, we just left. I come here really often as a fruit tea boba drinker - they always have such a large range of options on the menu. My favorite is the lychee green tea. Drinks come out fast usually but on some days the line can get pretty long here. The most disappointing thing about this boba store is that their boba is always a hit or miss - some days it's really good but other days it tastes sooooo bland or even sour without being sweet at all. i-Tea is my go-to boba spot in the City. Orders can take 5-10 minutes, so I would order ahead if you don't want to wait. But I enjoy waiting, as Irving St is so lively, and it is fun to people watch. If you're as frequent of a milk tea drinker as I am, you can get a free drink after 9 drinks if you use their reward system (you just put your phone number in whenever you place an order at the register). The staff is always friendly! My top three in rotation are the earl grey milk tea (with boba or sea salt krema, which is basically cheese foam), white peach oolong tea with krema, and brown-rice milk tea. I have also enjoyed the crème brûlée latte, strawberry blossom, black milk tea, and Thai tea, amongst others. read more

This was a pretty good boba tea place! Unfortunately the space is very small and there is no seating inside, except for one stool and a countertop. Definitely a grab-and-go kind of place. Service was fast and my drink was out in a couple of minutes. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I opted for the taro milk tea ($3.75 including boba) with 30% sweetness and 0% ice. Even with 30% sweetness I thought it was a little on the sweet side, but the portion size was large and the boba were soft and chewy. Was my go-to spot for boba when I was on Irving Street for a long time but will be inclined to take my business elsewhere due to the poor customer service when I went here yesterday (which seems to be the norm lately judging from some other reviews...). Ordered 4 drinks total, with 2 of them being 30% sweet, light ice, and boba. Went outside to wait since the shop is small and found that the prices didn't match with the one posted outside on the window and the customizations weren't written on the receipt, so someone in our party went back in with the receipt to clarify. They apparently didn't hear me when I said I wanted boba and refused to remake it because they "sealed my cup already," even though we would pay the difference. How hard is it to take off the seal, put some boba in, and then reseal it? They were still making half my other drinks anyways. Any other place would've just redone it, no fuss. Drinks tasted fine but would've been better if my order was correctly done. Interesting that the other two customizations were heard but not my third one. I suggest that the cashiers maybe reiterate the order if they're not sure they got everything. read more

Came here to try their brown sugar boba drink. Summary: it is better than the overly hyped Tiger Sugar in New York!! At Tiger Sugar, their signature #1 brown sugar boba drink contained 60-70% ice (see my other review with a picture). Amazingly, this place's brown sugar boba drink actually have the right amount of ice. I finished the drink with not too many ice left. Both stores charge around $6 per drink.
