Upon many other visits, I've decided to lower my ranking of Sweet Mango. I've found that outside the T4, there aren't many amazing options. The fries come in a tiny portion, the rice crepes with sauce were alright. The black seasame paste was good. I didn't like the fried spicy tofu, it should have come with a sauce. If he doesn't pay for your dinner and dessert, let that SWEET MAN-GO!! I've had Sweet Mango a few times, and I'd say this is a solid dessert café that stays open late. This location is nice because there's easy parking, plenty of open seating, and they serve savory snacks too if you don't have a sweet tooth. My first time trying Sweet Mango was through a delivery order. The delivery wasn't too far -- it's located right across from Chinatown. I ordered the Mango Sago, Bubble Waffles, and a drink (I can't remember which one). The Mango Sago was great -- it came in a decent-sized to-go container, and they didn't skimp out on anything. The mangoes were perfectly ripe, fragrant, and soft. The sago mixed in so well, adding an interesting texture. What I love about these fruit sago desserts is that you can finish them without feeling guilty or bloated. Ordering the Bubble Waffles for delivery wasn't the best decision. By the time I got to them, they had completely cooled down, which made them chewy -- kind of like mochi waffles. Still good, but not the same. Dining in person makes a huge difference here because most of the food is best served fresh -- and that all comes down to one thing: temperature. No thermometers needed here, just trust me. The second time I tried Sweet Mango with my sweet man, we had the Strawberry Sago, which was disappointing. Yes, the strawberries were beautifully fresh and red without a blemish, but for some reason, strawberries tend to be hit or miss. Most that you find at local grocery stores are very acidic -- almost like tomatoes. They're not very juicy and are rather firm to bite into instead of melting in your mouth like ripe mangoes do. The Bubble Waffles tasted totally different hot and fresh. The outside is thin and crispy, and the inside is soft and light. The Bubble Waffles even taste sweeter when eaten right away, so that's what I recommend. The fried tofu comes out piping hot, and no matter how long I waited, every time I bit into a piece, the outside was light and crispy while the inside was soft and steaming hot. I had no patience to wait for them to cool down, so I ended up chugging my water while huffing and puffing from the heat inside. Overall, I enjoy snacking here, but I will let you know that for some reason, Venmo is the preferred way to close the tab -- and I don't really get why.
