I met Dr. Wiley at a 5K race that iAM Physical Therapy and Wellness co-sponsored. I mentioned some odd pain in my foot and achilles tendon and she was immediately suggesting stretches I might try to help relieve the discomfort. During our brief conversation she noted that she offers a free sample session, which I decided to check out. I have never had a sports or exercise injury or been to physical therapy before, and I was impressed. I find Dr. Wiley to be extremely knowledgeable, and she has a very friendly and kind way about her. I think that's important to note because I've had experiences with healthcare professionals that may have been true experts, but a negative vibe or ego, or otherwise unfriendliness really does set an unpleasant tone. Dr. Wiley guided me through a variety of stretches and exercises to help loosen and strengthen my heel. More importantly, I appreciate that she was very willing to answer questions and provide clarification about my diagnosis and how whatever activity I was working on at the moment would help address the underlying problems. For example, it might sound silly, but I did not have an appreciation for the fact that my calf muscles and heel are very much related and connected. Because Dr. Wiley was my first experience with physical therapy I have no basis for comparison, but because she is so knowledgeable and seemed genuinely interested in helping fix whatever was wrong with my heel, I feel like the bar has been set very high. If I ever need PT in the future my first call will be to iAM Physical Therapy. I feel like Yelp reviews are probably skewed to the extreme ends of the five-star scale. Yes I got an email asking me to do the review, but I take it seriously. I don't have to give Dr. Wiley five starts, but I did because I think she deserves it. I had a very positive experience. Her office is very comfortable, inviting, and, relaxing, but there's also space to stretch and do exercises. There's ample parking nearby and the neighborhood has a lot of other fun things going on. (wow did i really just write this much for a yelp review?) Ok two more quick things: Responsiveness. I saw Dr. Wiley for several weeks and over that time I emailed a question or a concern a few times. She would always reply the same day and sometimes only minutes later. It was impressive and helpful. Negative/Cons: I honestly can't think of any. If I had to offer some 'criticism' (and that even sounds too harsh) I would say that Dr. Wiley might want to proactively provide more information about stretches, motions, exercises, etc. It might simply be a preference I have, but I like to know the 'why?', if that makes sense. Dr. Wiley most certainly knows the answers and I trust her responses to my questions. Now that I'm writing this I wonder if I came across as an annoying patient haha. I hope not. I was just so curious to know how certain activities affected other things. LET ME BE CLEAR - Dr. Wiley knows her stuff. I just think it would add to the experience if supplemental information was offered. I did like that the stretches and exercises I was assigned to do were online and the videos show and explain how to do them. Yes I could google things myself, but again I'm emphasizing that I trust the professional's expertise and she has a wealth of knowledge. When I first met Dr. Jessica Wiley, I was in terrible shape. About 1 year prior I had pulled my hamstring, and had attempted to just "walk it off" but the pain and tightness never went away. In fact, I could barely walk and using stairs was a very painful and stressful experience. When I came to Jessica for help, I had already been to several doctors who were scaring me with advice of surgery or prescription pain killers. My first appointment with Jessica was such a relief. After a quick, but thorough physical assessment she told me kindly and confidently that surgery or pain killers would not be required, and with her help I could be back to normal in less than a year. She also said that my back and neck pain that I had for many years could also be resolved in this time. This completely shocked me, as I had almost given up ever being able to walk normally and sit without back-pain again. Jessica was always patient with me, and never made me feel like I was complaining or over-stating my pain. She was sympathetic and a great listener. Because of my pain, I had always felt hesitant of letting anyone do "hands-on" bodywork. Typically massage sessions would cause more pain than relief. However, with Jessica she could identify pain-points without me even mentioning them just by the position of my joints and muscles. She walked me through everything she was doing as she was doing it, and I felt instant relief. 6 months after my first session with Jessica, I was using stairs again, going on walks in my neighborhood and could run errands pain free. I even was able to work more, as sitting at my desk was no longer a painful ordeal - thanks to her realignment of my pelvis with bodywork and targeted exercises. Today, I can walk normally again without pain, have so much more energy, and am forever grateful to Jessica for her knowledge and compassion. I still visit Jessica twice a month for maintenance to ensure my muscles never tighten up like that again. I have been a patient of Dr. Wiley and her business iAMPhysical Therapy Wellness since October 2017 and have nothing but positive things to say and rave reviews for her and her company. I came to Dr. Wiley for chronic pain in my right hip due to Femoral Acetabular Impingement. I had tried a cortisone shot with Kaiser, completed an MRI, completed several disappointing physical therapy sessions and even saw an Orthopedic surgeon regarding my pain. I had accepted that I would always have pain and had written off physical therapy after the bad taste Kaiser PT had left with me. When the flares up to my right hip began coming more frequently, causing pain with sitting, walking up hill/stairs and after every leg gym workout, I knew that at the age of 29, this was unacceptable, leading me to Dr. Wiley. Dr. Wiley first off spends the entire 60 minute session with you, you are not just seen for 15 minutes and then given a sheet of exercises to complete at home. She is completely hands on and actually takes the time to develop a progressive program tailored to you. Each PT sessions is designed to help build the necessary strength needed to help correct your ailment. She also give the most legit sports massages, and is the only person I know that gives the deep deep pressure that is needed to give my body relief. After over 6 months completing PT roughly every other week, pain flare ups have decreased significantly, and I am more aware and feel more empowered to care for my hip with her assistance. Dr. Wiley is professional and courtesy and actually cares about her patients. Her business is growing and she regularly hosts community events such as rooftop yoga, hip opening classes and mindful eating and nutrition events. Dr. Wiley is fantastic!! After many years away from the gym, I was excited to start a regular lifting routine once again. However, pretty quickly I developed significant pain in one of my pectoral muscles. What could have been a frustrating experience of dealing with pain for months, I fortunately found Dr. Wiley from the get-go and worked with her on my injury. She carefully reviewed all potential muscle imbalances, flexibility issues and every type of movement that may or may not lead to pain. Once we identified the injury, one of my favorite parts of working with Dr. Wiley was that she truly wants to see you out and active as soon as possible. For me, that meant she didn't put together a plan that involved 6 weeks of rest and then we would re-visit. Instead she constructed a very specific physical therapy plan that increased my flexibility and strength as fast as possible so I could get back to the gym. Within a week, I had remarkable improvement with my pectoral muscle. And I was back to the gym in a month. I have no doubt it would have been 3+ months of pain if I wasn't working with Dr. Wiley! Dr Wiley is the real deal. I am a professional ballet dancer, so I don't trust my injuries to just anyone, and if they don't get the job done, it has very obvious and serious consequences for me. I had a major ankle injury requiring surgery, and I was really struggling to get my full range of motion back, as well as to get everything moving smoothly in my ankle. I did a full year of physical therapy with the PTs associated with my surgeon, and while they got me on the road to recovery, my progress plateaued at a level that prevented me from working at my best. Enter Dr. Wiley. Not only did she restore much of my ankle mobility in just a couple of months, but she also got me dancing pain free again, which I honestly thought was never going to happen again. I love the fact that when I work with her, she is working privately with me the entire session. So many Physical Therapy offices give you 15 minutes with the PT and then send you to do exercises with an aide, but with Dr. Wiley you have her full attention the entire session. Over 14 years as a competitive distance runner I've dealt with multiple sprained left ankles, torn ligaments and one major surgery on left side of my lower leg. Now that my competitive days are behind me I had been ignoring the issues that still remained in my ankle. During a regular workout I started to feel pretty bad pain in that ankle and decided it was finally time to do something about it. I set up an appointment with Dr. Wiley and after appointment one was already feeling the positive impact she had made on my ankle. She quickly diagnosed multiple troublesome points on my leg that were also causing issues for my ankle. During the appointment she wasn't just working on my ankle, she was also educating me on the reasons I was having the ankle issues. Hello everyone, I am physical therapy is the best place in San Diego hands down! And here's why, I've been an athlete all my life. As an athlete you go through lots of injuries through out the years. Therefore, I've been to about 5+ physical therapy places in my life. And all of them have the same routine the doctor will work on you hands on for only about 15min tops, That is nothing! I felt like it was a waste of money because you barely get worked on and then get sent to do exercises. Luckily I found , I am physical therapy. Jessica is the owner/doctor there and she's the best at what she does. She works 1 whole hr one on one. Trust me, I had good doctors but she's the best I've ever had worked on me. She has so much knowledge of the human body, that she'll figure out the exact spot of pain and where the problem is with out you telling her. You really have to try her out, with one visit you will see and confirm how good she is. I will strongly recommend everyone to give her a try, you won't regret it! read more

I've had chronic arthritis in my left ankle for the past 10 years. Over that time frame, I've seen a series of different physical therapists through my health insurance provider and what I heard was mostly a variation of "it's probably not going to get much better, but here are a few standard stretches" (the towel around the ankle stretch was a popular one). It made sense to me, how can arthritis get better? The level of care I received at iAM Physical Therapy and Wellness was unbelievable. After only 2 or 3 visits I went from daily moderate pain and a noticeable limp to being pain-free on most days! The understanding of how the human body functions and the techniques she employed to make things work the way they were meant to far surpasses the 10 physical therapists I saw prior to her. I have seen a lot of physical therapist in my life and Dr. Jessica Wiley is one of the best out there. I have something going on with my shoulder/neck and she was able to give the right amount of pressure and motion to bring it back into place. She was also so kind to checkout my pelvis and low back which is a thing of the past but still gave me a little tlc to my psoas and it felt much more relaxed after the session. Besides the adjustments, I was given helpful exercises to strengthen the areas that are weak and causing the problem. It was very easy to find the building and office, I really like how private it is too! One patient at a time and her full attention to you, we are able to communicate through the whole session to see if muscle firing is working properly or not. I have been seeing Dr. Jessica Wiley off and on (mostly on!) for almost 2 years and highly recommend her. When I first saw Jessica, I had severely sprained my ankle over a year ago and despite seeing several doctors and completing a round of PT elsewhere, I was still painfully limping, worried I would never walk normally again. It took months of hard work, patience and persistence on the part of both Jessica and myself, but i am now limp-free. I found Dr. Wiley through Groupon and went in yesterday for a sport massage since I'm running in a 1/2 marathon this weekend and I had really tight calf's and minor IT band issues. The massage was great; she really dug into my tight spots and although it hurt a little, it was the good kind of hurt and I honestly felt those tight spots loosening up instantly. After the sport massage, she showed me a few great exercises and mobility movements that I can do on my own from home to help with running and various ways to target my tight spots (foam rolling & other pressure release techniques). All in all, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Wiley to anyone serious about increasing pliability and priming your muscles to be able to move better in any physical environment. I have had a lot of massages before but this one was different and way more effective than any I've had before. read more

In April of 2019 I was in a severe motorcycle accident that resulted in broken ribs, three surgeries between my left knee, left hand and right shoulder. My insurance didn't cover the PT that UCSD suggested so I initially tried to recover using my own regiment and Pilates. I started with Jessica in January 2020 very discouraged as while I had some improvement it was marginal at best. I was very skeptical at first but as we worked together we saw measurable progress quickly. After having worked with Jessica for 5 months I've experienced significant progress. I have two children under the age of 4 so simple things like throwing them over my head and catching them wasn't something I could really do, now I can. I have better flexibility and strength. I happened to find Dr Wiley through a sports massage Groupon, I desperately needed a massage because I had tremendous low back and hip pain. She did an assessment on me and told me she could help relieve the pain. I'm so glad I found her because I had been to so many massage therapists and Pt's and hadn't found one that had helped me. She is incredibly knowledgeable and she has very strong hands that work out my tough lesions and knots. She has been working with me on my road to recovery after tearing both my labrums in my hips and I am feeling much better than I was before seeing her. She listens well and together we found that working on my ankles helps with my hip pain and is sorting out the underlying muscle imbalances. iAM Physical Therapy is a center for rehabilitation and healing. I met Dr. Wiley two years ago to complete physical therapy for a neck injury. After practicing a daily neck stabilization program designed by Dr. Wiley, the neck pain decreased and my posture improved tremendously! Due to long-distance running, I tend to develop tightness in my hip flexors, hamstrings, and lower leg/feet muscles. As I would like to continue running and playing sports for many years, I am beyond grateful to have 1:1 physical therapy sessions with Dr. Wiley on a weekly basis. I cannot say enough great things about iAM and Dr. Jessica Wiley!! I was having hip pain that was getting worse and affecting my running. Also, like most desk jockeys, I have chronic neck and shoulder pain. I booked a session with iAM after seeing an offer on Living Social and am very happy that I did. At iAM I found both pain relief and help getting stronger and addressing the underlying issues that were causing the pain. Having pain just trying to stand from a chair or walking up steps had made me angry enough to go to my regular doctor who prescribed Physical Therapy. I googled local PT's in the area and found Dr. J's recommendations to be the highest. I had IT band pain on my right leg and Jessica worked hands-on through all the areas that affected it.
