I had such a lovely experience dining at Ibendoo Ramen last night with my friends and family for my birthday celebration. The waiter went above and beyond to ensure our party of five was well-attended, making great suggestions and providing prompt service. Honestly, his kindness and attention to detail was on par with service I would expect from a more exclusive establishment. Thanks for making our evening special. Everyone in my party opted for the soba noodle dish, except for me. While I'm sure theirs was delicious, I really enjoyed the Char Siu Tonkotsu ramen dish I ordered. The soup had a rich and flavorful broth, the noodles were done to my liking, and the slices of pork were surprisingly robust. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The dining room isn't a large space, but the restaurant has done an excellent job designing the layout so as to maximize seating options. The tables are roomy with benches along the walls, and very comfortable and sturdy chairs everywhere else. The lighting was a little bright for my liking, but that's to be expected in a strip mall retail space. Even though I can't give them any more stars in this review, if they could refine the lighting I'd find a way to do so! I am very appreciative for the caring staff who helped make my day extra special. We had a lovely time at Ibendoo Ramen, Thank you!

Quick and friendly service. Fried items were not greasy, tasted great. Ramen broth was rich and well seasoned.

The best ramen I have ever had eating out. Highly recommend you trying this place out. The workers are super nice and inviting. Id give it 10 stars.

Place closes at 9pm, we came in at 8:35. Booth seats were empty and no one was in there. We asked if they would be willing to serve us. They smiled and said yes, but politely reminded us they closed at 9pm. They served us all three ramen, 6-pieces of gyoza, and two buns in no time and we made sure to eat as quickly as possible. We also helped close out our bill sooner vs later so they could continue their closing process. Their ramen and food speak for themselves but their service is something we will always come back for when visiting Salem. They could have had an irritated attitude and given us a cold shoulder but they didn't. They could have given us half-ass food but they didn't. They made us the best food they have to offer with great service and we appreciated it tonight.

The service was excellent. The inside is nice. But for a ramen place the music was out of place. I got some pan fried gyoza and the. char siu ramen. The gyoza was ok. I had a couple of them that were soggy and not cooked. The ramen was something to desire. The noodles were decent and some pork pieces tasted good. But that broth. Yuck. I hoped for an umami rich flavor. That was not what I expected. If you like appetizers you may like this place. Others in the group enjoyed the appetizers. A pass for me.

Ibendoo Ramen was the first real ramen restaurant I've tried. Before coming here I had really only had packaged ramen or cup ramen, and I liked it enough but didn't get the fuss around it. Ibendoo made it all make sense, it's my favorite restaurant in Salem by far. I've tried plenty of ramen restaurants since then, including some that have won awards, and Ibendoo is still my favorite. I've been coming here on average about once a week and the staff is always super attentive and quick, they even started to remember my order when I come in. I've never had a bad experience here, it's remarkable how consistent and delicious the food here is. It's very comforting to have a restaurant like this where you know for sure you'll have a great time any time you visit.

I give it a good 4-1/2 stars on taste, and a bonus half star for the highly entertaining duo in the kitchen whose falsetto singing, wild laughter, and constant flurry of witty (although sometimes salty) commentary kept us in stitches. Seriously, those two should have their own show. We particularly liked their rendition of "Down Under" by Men at Work. But as for the food... we ordered a wide variety of appetizers, and I found the sweet potato fries to be particularly memorable. I loved the big salt crystals. The dish was perfection. Also enjoyed the chicken kara-age, edamame, age tofu, tofu bun, and gyoza. One of my tablemates raved about the kim chi ramen. Another tablemate had a vegetable ramen, which she described as good but not stellar. We were just passing through Salem, but if I lived in town, I would definitely return.

Five Stars -- A Must‑Try in Downtown Salem!…read more My wife and I stopped by Akai Ramen yesterday, and this spot absolutely delivered. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, hot gemai tea, cucumbers, fresh salad, and the seafood ramen -- every single dish came out flavorful, balanced, and clearly made with care. The portions were generous, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality. The service was immaculate from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming -- the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back before you've even left. The decor is clean and modern with plenty of seating, creating a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a date, a family meal, or a quick bite. Yes, you do have to pay for parking in downtown Salem, but once you're inside, the food, the vibe, and the service make it more than worth it. If you're anywhere near Salem, I highly recommend stopping by. Akai Ramen is doing everything right -- great food, great people, great experience. Five stars all day.

Plenty of street parking available and the storefront had lovely plants at the entrance. Walking in felt a little crowded and awkward because of the small entryway. But it did look like they have a few booths, tables, window seating, and even a bigger private room in the back. The lunch specials were $9.99 which was an amazing value for sure! I got the Happy Bimbim Bap with chicken and my hubby got the Spicy Pork Bento Box (the bigger one for $15) The friendly staff set up our table and gave us all hot and freshly made green onion pancakes which was a nice touch! (Although it was a little too oily) Our food came out super fast - within 10 minutes of ordering?! The kids and I enjoyed all the veggies and egg for my bimbim bap but the chicken were cut until small pieces were just ok. My husband did enjoy his Spicy Pork with a good amount of spice (they asked him if he wanted spicy) and came with potstickers, California rolls, rice, and a side salad. My daughter actually really loved the green bean banchan and the daikon and kimchi were super delicious too! The owner came to our table to say hi to the kids and each table got watermelon as dessert (the Asian way!) She was so nice and offered extra watermelon for the kids if they wanted it. It also looked like they do a lot of local community work with the homeless and were super involved in providing food to those that need it. Such a lovely local restaurant. If you're in the area definitely come give it a try!

I know firsthand how challenging it can be for small business owners--especially immigrant-owned businesses. That said, there were several shortcomings that affected our experience. The issues started when ordering. There were two vegetarians in our group, and while many of the ramen dishes listed an option to add vegetables, I wanted to confirm whether the broth itself was vegetarian. Unfortunately, our server repeatedly said she didn't know and didn't offer to check with the kitchen. One ramen listed a miso broth, which is typically vegetarian, but when I asked about that specifically, I received the same response. To be safe, we ordered the clearly labeled vegetarian ramen, while my husband ordered the miso ramen. His dish arrived almost immediately, while the rest of us waited at least 15 minutes longer. When his ramen was delivered, there was no explanation or indication that ours was coming shortly. He tried to eat slowly so we could eat together, but he was nearly finished by the time our bowls arrived. One other small but noticeable issue: it was around Christmas, and the holiday music playlist was extremely limited. We heard the same songs rotate four times, which became a bit distracting. My advice would be to invest more in server training, especially around menu knowledge, and perhaps update the music playlist. With some improvements in service and attention to detail, this place could be much better.

This Vietnamese restaurant is in a small shopping center with several other Asian restaurants as well, and has plenty of parking in the lot. First off, the folks who work here are very kind and attentive. I was quickly seated, and given a rundown of the menu before the waitress left to get water and utensils. When they returned in 3 minutes they were ready to take my order, and were receptive to my requested modifications to the dish. My steaming hot pho arrived about five minutes after I ordered it. The broth has a great flavor, and didn't seem too salty or oily. The aromatics were fresh, clean and plentiful. My only critique is that the noodles were about 15% overcooked. The restaurant uses noodles that seem a little more substantive than what I'm normally served, which I really liked. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and I'd consider returning to try their other dishes.
