This is a conveyor belt Sushi parade restaurant. We should have stayed clear based on that fact alone, but we decided to give it a try because we were in the neighborhood. The menu is extensive but the quality of the fish is poor. We ate both cooked (salmon teriyaki- - it tasted weird and unnaturally fishy) and raw food (sushi). The raw fish is a low-grade quality, and is sliced very thin. You're mostly going to pay for rice (which is actually cheap). Even the gigantic rice mound which was served with the salmon teriyaki tasted like it was a day or two old. The garlic poke albacore was mediocre grade fish slathered in a noxious mayonnaise goop that was inedible. I asked the waiter to take it away and remove the charge from the bill. Stay clear of this place. Momiji is much better. read more

Some reviewers complained about the speed of their orders. That they handle take outs first etc. If that's true, then they are just freaking slow. I did DoorDash and it took a very long time! I ordered about 11:45am and my order was not even ready for my dasher until after 12:30. I think my dasher had to wait at least 15 maybe 20 minutes for it and they didn't head there until after 12. It took less than ten minutes to arrive after pickup. I ordered a can of soda, side of Pan Fried Gyoza（6pcs), two full size rolls, the Vegas Roll and the Tempura Shrimp Roll This place does not allow customization and I can't eat cucumbers (my system does not tolerate them at all) and very few of their rolls come without. The Vegas Roll does not have cucumbers so that is good. It has a lot of crunchy texture and a good mix of mushy and firm in the center from the shrimp , avocados, and cream cheese. It was tasty. The Tempura Shrimp Roll however does. It comes with avocado, tempura shrimp, and cucumbers. I used my chopsticks to poke them out and then just pinched the roll together to close the gap and eat it. This roll had very little flavor or texture. The Vegas is considered a hot roll and the tempura shrimp a cold roll. Both were packaged very nicely in the same box. Needless to say, the hot roll was closer to room temperature as was the cold roll. Though in a separate container, my gyoza were barely warm and had no crisp to the pan fry texture and were kinda rubbery. Overall I was unimpressed and likely won't choose this establishment again. read more

Got to love it when the cooks speak in Japanese. This is not your upscale fancy sushi place. But that's not a bad thing. Often times it's actually better than the fancy places. There's options to sit at the bar and pick off the sushi boat plates, or you can dine at a table. The staff - was friendly, fast, gave good recommendations to help you chose from a variety of options. Food - all the sashimi I ordered came out fresh, not cold/frozen like other places. Price - very reasonable. Bottom line, it's a great place to sit and pick out some good sushi. I recommend giving this place a visit, and Ill definitely be back soon! read more

My daughters and I were craving track sushi. Yelp reviews seem mixed, but so glad we found this wonderful place. Came here for lunch on a Monday . The sushi seemed really fresh and flavorful. I visit this sushi place regularly as it is fast, convenient, and delicious. Keep in mind this is not a high end place so if you're looking for a fancy restaurant - it is not here - but this is great for every day things. I love coming for lunch at work because they are fast. They have great prices as well. Today I ordered an Inside out roll, cucumber salad, and picked up a small rainbow roll from the train. I also got miso soup and hot tea, all for just $22.10! Of course my eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I left feeling full and satisfied. They are always polite and have great service! Disappointing to say the least. Food - not authentic Japanese cuisine. We ordered shrimp, vegetable and calamari tempura, miso soup, spicy tuna, inari and tamago. The tempura dipping sauce was watery bland and served cold. Miso soup tasted like soy sauce and the shrimp tempura was not tempura but more like breaded shrimp. Service - there was only 1 other couple in the whole restaurant and our waitress managed to get our order wrong and forgot items we ordered. The food was delicious, fresh, quick and kind service ! When we walked in we noticed how clean it was and that there was NO FISH SMELL!! We also had a gift card we used and the card was about 25¢ short, but our server was kind enough and said don't worry about it! Most places don't and we thought that was generous of them. I discovered this place recently as a Doordash Driver. It has recently changed names and maybe management. The place appeared popular and I observed a lot of positive reactions from the patrons so I decided to bring my wife and mother last weekend. The food was terrific. I ordered the miso soup and yakisoba chicken noodles. The sushi was artistically composed and very fresh. I also really appreciated the decor and some very interesting video being run on the walls of a young Asian lady silently making various dishes by hand in her rustic environment. Very entertaining. Apparently the menu has not been updated. Some items indicate 6pcs and when you get the order it has 3pcs. It happened to me on a to go order. I called to inquiry about it and the young lady hung up on me - I called back and she said I was yelling at her. I was not, I was inquiring about the discrepancy between the menu and what I received. I ended up talking to the manager who tried to tell me I got a half order. Yet I was charged the amount for 6pcs. These people are liars and they don't care about the customer. And the food has really gone down hill - when it was Sushi Kyo it was much better. Don't waste your time going here. The sushi were well constructed and fresh, so this part stands out from the other sushi restaurants in town. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because several sushi plates on the rotary were not covered and a customer was coughing close by. I understand hot, fried sushi will get soggy when covered, but the ones uncovered (several), were topped with raw fish. Not sure why they did that, but it is not sanitary. read more

Honestly probably the best revolving sushi place I've ever been to solely because they kept the belt full of sushi and different foods. At a lot of places I would be sitting and waiting forever for something to come by or I would just order it. Not here! The staff is super friendly and the environment is very chill. Definitely recommend for those who struggle with anxiety. Nice, quiet and calm. I fell in love with Sushi in Japan, ever since then it's been really hard for me to find a close second, however my search may be over. Sushi Kyo has a wonderful array of small dishes at good proportions, with great prices. I went there for lunch and loved it, easy to find, easy to access, plenty of parking, and handicap accessible. The inside is very clean, and well lit. The chef is located in the center of the conveyor belt, in the middle preparing all the different plates that go round and round to choose. The staff is wonderfully delightful, very friendly, and helpful. They give you chopsticks to start with, but you silverware is available on request. I really enjoyed the different plates they had in the conveyor, and depending on the plate you choose, will depend on the price of the plate, with the cheapest plate being a $1.35, with the most expensive $2.45. So if you're looking for a filling and enjoyable lunch, with hint of shrimp, rice and sushi, then Sushi Kyo is for you! read more

Was taken to dinner for my birthday because I love sushi and I have mentioned it more than once over the last few weeks. It is sushi on a conveyor belt, so there really is not much to the ambiance, but the food has always been good and consistent. I have my favorites and there are never enough on the belt, I could order a hole one but that would take the fun and challenge out of it. This trip we managed to score a seat at the counter on the side where the sushi travels first, so I had better odds and that made me very happy. I was surprised to hear the server talking to someone in the booth nearest us when the customer said that they were really anti anything from the ocean...REALLY?!? Why are you in a sushi restaurant? I guess that is a warning that there really isn't anything else on the menu (unless you count the chocolate mousse cake, and the cheesecake that appears every now and then on the conveyor belt). If you don't like sushi, or fish in general, this may not be the restaurant for you. read more

Come here for the Salem Roll! You will not regret it. My brother took me to this place while I was in town visiting and I have to say that I was impressed. The place was clean, the sevice was great, and the selection of sushi on the conveyor built was good. The Salem Roll is hot and crunchy on the outside and is a special order, but comes out quick. My only complaint is that my edamame was a bit on the cold side so minus a star for that. Would highly recommend this place. read more

Okay sushi with awful waiters. If you have any sushi standards discard them at the door before entering. Its all frozen sushi (yes i know most raw fish is frozen but you can really taste it here) the fishes texture and taste suck except maybe the salmon. The rice is all mass produced and not even sushi rice. I can understand having the rice machine made but at least take the time to place the fish on the rice for the nigiri, most of your fish is just slopped on the rice. Sometimes not even on the rice. the different tobikos all tasted the same so don't even bother. Also, seared fish is supposed to be seared, not cooked all the way through. Do not even get me started on the waiters. We were ordering our food and the waiter stopped to have a long gossip session right in front of us. not just once, several times!!! They should be fired. I visited Sushi Kyo last week due to a super strong urge for sushi. Five stars for the quality of sushi options, conveniently served on a conveyor belt, but don't plan on being impressed with the service. Apparently it's not included in the price. They rarely come to you, you'll need to hunt them down when you want your bill, or a glass of water. One time I had to disrupt the waitress from her personal phone chat and giggle on the sideline to get my bill so I could check out. She wasn't happy, but she had to know that spending time on personal phone calls while her customers waited for her assistance won't earn her any tips. Still, because the sushi is available on the conveyor belt, you can get by without service, however poor, for the most part. Still, I'll be back for more sushi, because it was uncommonly delicious, and I might sneak my own water bottle in with me so I don't need any assistance from their wait staff. read more

Conveyor belt sushi!? Sweetness!! It's like fast food sushi or like dim-sum sushi! First time at a sushi place like this, so it was quite an exciting experience. It was fun checking out all the pretty sushis rolling past us and trying to figure out which one we should try next (like picking out a chocolate from a box of assorted chocolates not knowing exactly what's in each one). This place is super super cheap ($1.25 to $2.35 per dish of 1-4 pieces of sushi) and has a good variety of stuff. Sushi tastes fresh and is decent. My favorite is the volcano roll. The staff is very friendly :) Not the best quality sushi, but very good in terms of being what I'd call, fast-food sushi. Presentation is alright and taste varies by the roll. My wife and I tried this place a couple nights ago at which time she called me a sushi snob. I guess I kind of am having been spoiled by many of the great sushi spots in Komifornia. However this was my first time at a spot with a conveyor belt and although thrown off at first I will say I kind of like it and I will tell you why. I was used to eating whole rolls to myself. By putting a few pieces of a roll on a plate it not only helps in eating less but it helps the shop control waste better too because you are only taking what you will eat. Although there isn't much interaction between you and the employees if you go with a group it allows less interruption between employees and your group. The happy hour is nice (hours: 11:00am to 4:00pm) all green and blue plates are $1.85 instead of $2.15 for a green plate and $2.45 for a blue plate. That really helps the pocket book and I'll tell you I am used to spending a minimum of $50 when I would have lunch on my own. Today lunch cost me $15.30 I recommend checking it out. read more

I have been 10 times in two weeks. I get the volcano roll, some cucumber salad, a miso, a random item, and a diet pepsi. I spend about 12 dollars. It is delish and the service is fast and the sushi is fresh. The place is clean and I never worry about getting sick from eating here. They also have a really nice glass of chardonnay for 3.95. On a side note, I saw one of the sushi chefs eating some chicken mc'nuggets from (you know where) and it made me giggle. Made me, for some reason, weirdly like him more. read more

I am a HUGE sushi fan and I know one thing for sure, a sushi dinner should leave you feeling satisfied, not disgusted. The fish was very low quality. The salmon looked unusually pale and the texture was off. It did not taste or look like sushi grade fish in the slightest. There were even gray light streaks on pieces of the salmon nigiri. The avocado in my avocado roll was not ripe or chewable. How is this acceptable to serve? I would much rather have someone inform me they are out of avocado then charge me for something I can't even eat. I am really surprised that this place got such positive reviews. I've heard that some days their fish is fresher than others but this was just bad. The rice was also lacking its usual refreshing quality, it seemed very dense and flavorless. Perhaps this is just a lesson to not eat sushi in Salem. Ewwwwwwww. Perhaps due to Salem's overall lacking cuisine, residents are desperate and have a skewed view of what's actually good. I wouldn't even call this sushi decent, it was bad. I would recommend sticking to the non-raw fish rolls if you come here. On the bright side this experience has murdered my regularly occurring sushi craving, which might end up saving me some money in the long run. read more
