The food was mid at best, the tempura was soggy and the rolls were really skinny. The salmon had a slimy, oil like texture and I found a fish bone on the jalapeno roll flavor was good but the portions were skinny. My girlfriend really wanted to give it one star but I've had worse. I was excited they got a high rating but I was disappointed. It wasnt bad it just wasnt for a real sushi eater. Its for begginer sushi eater who likes more cooked fish and sliver of raw. The rolls were the phoenix and crunchy salmon. The crunchy salmon was an avocado roll with bits of salmon inside not on top by inside a littke dot. The phoenix was ok and a sliver of fish. I then ordered nagiri sushi white tuna, salmon, and spicy scallop. They gave a regular size slice which I had to order an extra salmon because I was craving salmon. Fish was fresh but the scallop one all you could taste was the Saracha. I also ordered Pepsi and hot tea. Hot tea tasted like hot water. The miso soup though was really good. Also the soft shell crab was good too. The service was great and place was clean and looked fun with there art on the wall. Good music was playing and people seemed to enjoy themselves there. Moving from Arizona back to Oregon I was bummed to leave some of our very favorite sushi spots but while running errands we decided to pull up Yelp, in search of some sushi. I came upon Ocean Sushi and Teriyaki and we gave it a go. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted and seated. The waitress was incredibly friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is clean, welcoming and I liked the murals upon the walls. We ordered a variety of rolls to try out, along with the fried calamari and the gyoza. Our food came out very quickly and was plated beautifully. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious and didn't have us missing our old faves at all. Instead we can't wait to go back and order more items off the menu. The sushi is fresh AND flavorful. The Keizer roll and baked white fish were our absolute favorites. The only thing I would critique would be that the fried calamari was a bit chewy and perhaps overcooked or maybe less tough pieces could be used. I did love how it was placed upon a bed of sautéed mushrooms, cabbage and jalepenos. A perfect pairing! This is definitely our new sushi go to! read more

The Sushi rice was mediocre at best, the fish portions were cut paper thin, honestly, the thinnest i have ever seen anywhere. The Unagi Roll i had barely had any Unagi in it. Came here with the family and friend. The place could use exterior facelift but the inside is nicer. The waitress leave a bit to be desired. We had to flag her down, we had to ask for refills for drinks. The food was good everything tasted fresh. The food came out pretty quick. Over all it's a decent enough place to get a sushi fix. This sushi is stellar, fresh, well put together, and very quick. The prices were great for a sushi place, not amazing but good. Plenty of choices of cooked fish sushi options, for those of us who cannot have raw. I had the Salem Roll and Crunchy Shrimp Roll. The hot sake was also good. Service was quick and friendly. Everyone's tastes are different so I won't go there. I will however go into customer service and how someone shouldn't respond. I've posted a screenshot of their menu and a couple pictures of the actual roll. Please read the description of the Dynamite roll. I chose this one because I am lactose intolerant AND a Japanese sushi roll (in my opinion) shouldn't have cream cheese. So that's the roll I chose....but not the roll I got. See those white cubed items in the roll? Yeah....cream cheese. So when I asked if what we got was the dynamite roll, he said yes. I then asked him if he was sure because the description doesn't state it was made with cream cheese. He replied, "Oh...typo" No offer was made to make it right, or apologize. Guess we are stuck with it then. Second issue was the charge for hot tea. They charge $2.75 for hot tea so please remember that when ordering tea. read more

Since new ownership the quality and quantity have gone by the boards. Full rolls no longer exists. What they now consider a full roll is only a half roll. They skimped on the rice that covers the rolls, service was lacking, and the sushi rolls never came close to what the menu described. The best way to describe it is, truck stop sushi. Pretty cool little sushi spot outside Salem. The sushi is good. The teriyaki noodles (with chicken) were good and the gyoza was good as well. The restaurant is clean and the service was excellent. I think the only thing that I can knock this place for was I didn't find anything amazing. It needs a little renovation (table finishes are chipping), staff was excellent but they all wear jeans and tees so it's very very casual. The food is fresh, we'll prepared and worth the price, but I personally found it a bit bland. I'd go back. The teriyaki sauce is excellent, and I think with a little work this place could be incredible. Definitely a local go to, but when traveling I don't know that it's a 'must visit' read more
