It was a short stay of 3 days. The employees were great and they were always very helpful in terms of providing information and super friendly. The activities were decent and the bedrooms were nice. Some things that my family didn't like about was the food. It didn't seem fresh and it was worrisome to eat as raw fish or milk or yogurt wasn't cold. We were also very excited with the selection of restaurants but all the food wasn't good and the wait for food was too long especially in the 90 degree heat with no air con. As well, we got coax into attending a 90 mins tour from Iberostar which was fine and willing to a point until the tour got very hostile from the tour guide who was quite rude. They were quite unclear of what was intended in the tour and when the 90 mins begun as it took way over 90 mins which was a waste of our vacation time. They will take you to breakfast and make a sales pitch but the hour it takes for that doesn't count towards the 90 mins. I think that was the worst part of this experience for us as we felt like we would have been verbally attacked by this tour guide and we didn't feel comfortable to stay. We consistently asked him to let us leave but he wouldn't. They didn't take a no from us and it seemed like they were trying to force us to say yes to whatever they were selling. read more

We enjoyed our stay here very much. We found the staff very hospitable and always willing to assist. The room was always cleaned when we returned from a days outing. This is a homey type of place. Very comfortable. We took a room with a pool view. The walk to the ocean was just under five minutes. We had fun dining at the various restaurants. The food was ok - nothing memorable. The service was always warm, welcoming and professional. We went with a pocket full of dollar bills so that we could easily tip where we needed to. Sometimes, we would call for a golf cart pick up to take us where we wanted to go, and those guys appreciate the tips. I also visited the salon and had a perfectly lovely facial. Room ac does not work, toilet overflows, rooms are dated. Can't get a dinner reservation at the restaurants and eating buffet for 7 days. Would highly recommend staying away from that place! ***I was electrocuted by a lamp in my room and hospitalized due to the effects it had on my heart*** 1. Room Safety & Air Quality Issue (Day 1) Upon check-in, I was placed in a room that had a strong smell of floor varnish or chemicals. The odour was so overwhelming that it affected my breathing and made my lungs feel irritated. I had to request to be moved to another room due to these unsafe conditions. I had an hour or so of day 1 wasted on my balcony waiting for another room while friends and family were already enjoying the resort. This was my first indication that the hotel was not maintaining a safe guest environment. 2. Electrical Shock & Injury On February 13th, I suffered a severe electrical shock while turning out the light in my room. The shock travelled through my left arm and into my chest, causing significant pain and distress. I was immediately taken to Hotpiten Cancun where I was hospitalized overnight, monitored for potential heart complications, and given blood pressure medication due to dangerously high readings following the incident. 3. Suspicious Removal of the Lamp After my release from the hospital, I returned to my hotel room and discovered that the lamp had been removed without any prior notice or explanation. I was told that the hotel had "checked the wiring" and that everything was fine. However, if the wiring was truly safe, there would have been no reason to remove the lamp. The removal of a key electrical fixture after my injury raises serious concerns about the hotel's accountability and transparency. This suggests that the hotel was aware of an issue and attempted to cover it up, rather than taking proactive steps to ensure guest safety. Fun fact: If the hotel replies to this review, it will be with their copy-paste generic statement about 'commitment to safety' and 'excellence' while failing to acknowledge the severity of what happened. I wouldn't stay here if I was paid to. It's not worth risking your life. read more

This was the second time here for myself and my husband and it was even better than the first time. We booked our room 3001 on the beach and the room was fantastic. Let's start at the beginning. We made sure this time to write down employees names who stood out and went above and beyond even though all the employee's there were great. Ramiro at the front desk checked us in and greeted us with friendliness and a smile. The check in was quick and he explained the new room key being on the wrist now which was fantastic. No more keeping up with the room keys! We went to Jinmi next who was one of the three concierges that helped us on our stay. When he was not there Mike and Josue were super helpful and answered all our questions. Anyway, Jinmi explained to us about the presentation and we decided to give it a try. After going to next day we were very happy that he explained the process perfectly and did not mislead us in any way. We did not buy this time but were given good information about what they offered. Jinmi did his job great! We did see a server by the name of Marciano from last year and he actually remembered us. He is just always smiling and so happy and he made our eating experiences even better! He is such a hard worker and his job is not easy so that is a tribute to his work ethic. The room was always perfect because of a housekeeper by the name of Rosario Lopez. She was happy to accommodate us in any way possible. Many of you travelers out there know when your room is spotless and you have enough towels that makes your stay so much better. She was one of the best housekeeper's we have ever had in our 40 plus years of travelling. Because of low season management did send her home a couple of days and one day our room did not get cleaned. We called the front desk and within the hour a runner by the name of Jair came and brought us fresh towels, sheets and cleaned the room. It took him three trips because all he had was a backpack but he was quick and efficient. He did apologize but we told him it was ok and not his fault. Siomona also helped with this issue and did a great job of handling it. We can't forget about Freddy and his black cart. He took us to our room on a couple of occasions when he did not have to. We did mention to him that we never saw the entire Lindo next door and he gave us a first-class tour of the hotel. He is another one who was always smiling and always seemed so happy. Thanks Freddy for the help. Armando with the entertainment group is another had worker who just could not quit smiling. You can tell he loves his job and it shows. Chef Armando explained a couple of dishes they were serving at the buffet and you can tell he likes his job. Now last but certainly not least was our favorite employee. Chef Octavio. That man works so hard and was always busy. He went way above and beyond with us and the mole. My husband is a mole junkie and he made sure we had plenty of it whenever possible. His interactions with the guests and his coworkers was the same every time we saw him. He had a smile on his face a mile wide and always seemed so happy. Thanks to Chef Octavio for making our trip the best. We hope to see you in the future and keep making great mole!!! We did want to mention that this place would not look so great if not for the hard work of all the people doing the yardwork and maintenance. We also can't forget the employees taking us back and forth on the carts. This resort in our humble opinion is a first class place with a great staff that does a fantastic job. read more

I got food poisoning at one of their restaurants, the worst I ever got in my life, and when my boyfriend called the front desk to ask for some Gatorade or electrolytes they pretended to not hear him. He called again and they said they didn't have anything, and offered 0 help. They referred us to the medical center which left him on hold for over 10 minutes. When I tried seeing the doctor the next day she said a doctors note to excuse me from work would cost 200 USD. Also when we checked in the employee said our check out time was 3:00 pm, when it was actually 12:00 pm. They didn't even mention any 12:00 pm to me at all, and tried to charge us extra for a late check out fee. I was still extremely sick and dehydrated and forced to leave due to their mistake. Big big disappointment!! I went with 12 family members celebrating 70th birthday, 50th birthday & 50th wedding anniversary.......what a LET DOWN!! First, my husband & I are 70 years old & they gave us a room on the third floor with no elevator! So each time we left the room & went back we had to climb three flights of stairs in the brutal heat. The room we had had no drawers to put clothes in......who hangs up their underwear?? There were only two receptacles in the entire room. Minimal AC, where you had to call or text the front desk to turn up the AC. The balcony was old & decrepit. Stains on couch. Let me tell you from the beginning.......if you are thinking about coming here, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING in any restaurant or buffet, lobby or bar!! So, you are trying to eat brkfst, lunch or your dinner you will need your linen napkin to wipe the sweat from your face! HORRIBLE!!! We needed a golf cart to go everywhere, pool, beach, restaurant, etc. Most times the carts were full so you had to wait or start walking in blazing heat. If you think you could cool off in the pool......think again! All you needed was a bar of soap b/c you felt like you were in bath water. The swim up bars were just okay b/c they didn't have enough bartenders to wait on the customers, plus watered down drinks. The food was okay, but once again you could not enjoy it due to the profuse sweat running down your face. There was also a fight in the breakfast buffet btw two women. Guess they were overheated! The juices were warm & the coffee was awful! The beach was so overcrowded. They had cheeseburgers, french fries, nachos & hotdogs at the stands with soda. If you went to the wrong bar on a different part of the beach, like Lingo, you were refused service. I went to the Lingo pool & was thrown out. Made me feel beneath the other resorts, like I was steerage on a ship. We were told while booking our trip that we could use other resorts pools & restaurants, found this to be false. It is very easy to get lost going from the pool to the beach, as I did. Walked in the tropical area for 45 min in the blazing heat & humidity. I just wanted at this point to sit down and cry. Did I mention I am 70? I will give housekeeping a good rating. Fresh towels & bedding everyday. This was about the ONLY good thing in Paraiso Beach Resort. read more

Great resort! Beach was beautiful and everything was very clean. The staff were all so nice and accommodating. There were water stations almost everywhere so you always had water to drink. The hibachi and Brazilian steakhouses were really good! Buffet food definitely got old after a while, especially since the lunches and dinner are similar. Definitely recommend checking out the snack booth on the beach as an option. Was not crowded at all. Was always able to get a spot on the beach or by the pool and hardly ever had to wait for drinks. read more

We arrived at the resort at check in - it took close to an hour to get checked in because they were busy trying "to put our party of 15 close to one another" - later I realized it was because they wanted to upcharge us to be in the "Junior Suites". Keep in mind the Junior Suite is 3 ft larger and just closer to the pools and beach. The told us they'd give it to us for 50% less - $350 more than our current room. We declined. We walked to our room after sweating profusely for a straight hour because NOWHERE IS AIR CONDITIONED. Room is very outdated, stains on the furniture and is old and dingy, footer on one bed kept falling off. There was dirt on the tub floor. Room was incredibly hot - the "RealFeel" temp outside was 109° and the room was set to 22°C. You can only turn down the temp yourself to 20°C, so after a day and a half of chatting with a the front desk and having a technician who spoke 0 English try to help, we pushed the two beds together and slept at the bottom of the beds to feel the ceiling fan blowing on us. If you leave the room door or balcony door open for even 10 secs, AC shuts off and lights turn off as well. Beds are made each day from housekeeping but you are given a thin scratchy blanket sandwiched between two top sheets - not that it matters because you can't use it from sweating so much. There are 2 outlets only in the room with no USB ports, 2 of our lamps and entryway lights did not work. The balcony is run down and has weeds growing from flower beds. Bathroom is not AC'ed, water pressure is a trickle. Housekeeping do not wipe down counters. Towels are given each day. Room was swept once despite sand on floor. Old food on plate sat on steps to hotel left by another guest for hours. The food is awful. Little choices for Americans - can eat at buffet in the stifling heat where most food is authentic Mexican. The area where food is served is not AC'ed either so there's a food poisoning situation waiting to happen. Food tastes terrible and is just pushed out to the masses. The only edible meal is breakfast. I barely ate. There is a burger, taco place and bakery plus ice cream area in the shopping mall - best bet if you're American. Bar drinks are terrible from both lobby and beach/pool bars, watered down and oversweetened. Bottom shelf liquor. The only beer served is Dos Equis. They claim before your trip you can eat at any of the restaurants, however, once there you are told you may have 3 restaurant reservations only. All but 1 we ate at was AC'ed. Iberostar also markets that you can go to the Mayan and Lindo resorts for pools and restaurants, however, we were asked to leave the Lindo pool. We brought our complaints to the front desk to be met by Joshua who tried to solve our problems by going to his presentation on the timeshare and then they would knock off 50% of the cost to upgrade to an ocean view room in which he said (and I quote) "That room has better air conditioning because we want people to upgrade." I know this is true because other family members were closer to the beach because they needed different accommodations and they said their AC was very cold. Beach chairs are dirty with animal poop and not cleaned. Beach food is burgers, fries, nachos and cold hot dogs. Line at the beach bar is long even for water. Trash cans are slimy with food. Self service soda/water runs out of ice by 330 and don't refill ice so you drink lukewarm soda and water. Lobby area water areas are green algae filled, fountains aren't turned on until nighttime. Resort is big and walking everywhere is a must - golf carts come by but usually are filled. Smoking is allowed all over except rooms. Pool is like a hot bath. No cool water at all. Ocean is better but filled with seaweed. Large rocks in ocean by shoreline. I was knocked over by waves and couldn't get up, my niece and I cut our legs pretty bad. Lifeguards are useless. Very hard to find unoccupied lounge chairs at pool or beach no matter what time you go, one day, we put our towels at the beach and ran back to the room for something. When we returned our towels were removed and chairs taken by others. Beds small and bounce too much when sharing with another person. Extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I couldn't sleep together, because we couldn't fit in he bed. We are not overly large people either. Salespeople constantly trying to sell you the time share and very persistent. They will promise you everything they can do you will go to their 1 hour presentation. Anything you complain about they try to solve your complaint by getting you to spend more money for better amenities. Go somewhere else, it was the worse vacation I've ever taken and I will never return to Mexico again. Other family members have stayed at Mayan, Lindo and the Grand and have had much better experiences. Stay far away from Paraiso Beach and Del Mar. read more

Terrible customer service. We bought day passes for the whole family and when two of my kids became ill overnight we were unable to alter the reservation. I pay 6000 dollars for a trip where my daughter is not aloud to use the gym. She runs track she's an athlete and turns 16 next month but she can't you a gym. My very grown daughter had to hang in the kid room??? But I pay for all inclusive. The rooms are dirty, furniture stained, dining tables are sticky, first morning here and breakfast is running behind and no coffee???!!! Finally got the coffee going at 9 o'clock? If I pay for all inclusive I want all inclusive. My life is hectic and this is suppose to be a break from all that. Yet I'm waiting for coffee, sitting at sticky tables, and my daughter is treated like a 10 year old. Ridiculous This is my fourth time in the Yucatán and this will be my last time at this resort. Not to mention if your hotel is by the beach you are about a 10 minute walk from the main area... The shuttles/golf carts are never there. I'm all about exercise but if your looking to save time, don't count on the carts. Your gonna be walking a lot. read more

The most memorable vacation we have ever had! My kids, uncle, aunt, and niece cam along and it was absolutely perfect. Everyone was so nice and friendly and most employees had good attitudes which is nice. The property was huge and takes about 10-15 minutes to walk from lobby to beach BUT they have golf carts driving all day to transport people anywhere on the property. I do wish they had more. There were times we had to wait over 10 minutes. This Iberostar property was connected to a few other Iberostars. It has its own shopping center with a taco shop (really good made to order) ice cream/creperie, coffee shop, Catholic Chapel, etc. If you're into fitness bring your workoit clothes! Their gym is state of the art. You'll love it. The grounds are very beautiful and so clean. The seaweed was a problem on day 1 with the shore and water covered in it (I mean a mountain of seaweed) but the next morning there was a crew out there shoveling it and it was gone. The rest of the trip there was no seaweed at all! Beautiful beach without it. The only thing was the smell of the fumes from the diving boat and jet skis. You have get out there early or you won't have anywhere to sit. We were out there by 8 am everyday to get good seats. The pool is hot! Not refreshing at all! The food was really good most of the time. There are two buffets that anyone can go to and a handful of restaurants that you need reservations to and getting reservations isn't easy to do. We arrived on a Thursday and we were told only 1 restaurant per 3 days! I paid over $5000USD for a 4 day trip and we could only go to 1 restaurant and it wasn't even the one we wanted. We ended up at El Puerto steak house. It was only ok at best. The steaks we ordered were either under cooked or over cooked. Stick to the buffet if that steak house was a representation of their other restaurants. The lobby bar had the beat bar tenders. Go there for pre dinner cocktails! Overall... I will definitely recommend! Especially after having to stay 1 night at a another all inclusive property after our flight home got canceled! Would have love to spend it at Iberostar but were told we had to book a minimum of 3 nights.. not fare or very nice considering the circumstance and the fact that we were already there 5 days. read more

I take a trip with my wife to Mexico for a week every year. It was our 1st time visiting Iberostar Paraiso Beach All Inclusive, And I was disappointed with our experience. 1) My biggest complaint is we were forced to drink their water from Mexico. They did not offer bottled water. My wife and I got sick with diarrhea and stomach pains. We even offered to pay for bottled water, but they didn't have any. 2) The resort had Mexican Raccoons everywhere in the beach. When eating at the restaurant on the beach, I saw a person look away for a moment as I watched the raccoon hop on the table and steal her Burger. You couldn't eat comfortably and it didn't feel very sanitary. 3) Many people were drinking and parting in the pool, and this 18 year old girl apparently passed out in the pool where a family member of hers struggled to pull her out. (There were no lifeguards on site at the pool this day) What shocked me the most was the delayed reaction from the workers/management from the resort to call an ambulance. The ambulance was not contacted immediately where they didn't arrive until 1hr 20 min later... The girl was unconscious the entire time. 4) The food was not very good and you had to make an appointment from the day the 1st day you arrived at the resort for dinner each night you were staying there. And if you decide NOT to go They charge you!This is mind blowing as when you expect an "all inclusive" experience with no bottled water and you get charged from a restaurant if you decide not to go... It's not like food was ordered and wasted. Aside from this, the pool was huge and well maintained and they stayed on top of cleaning the seaweed on the beach every morning as well. Personally for us, it is not worth the money and we would not come to this resort again as we've had better experiences elsewhere in Mexico. read more

Stayed for 4 nights with a group of 6 in October '16, overall not bad. I've been in better rooms, but the resort itself, pool and beach were great. Food was just ok...thehibachi and the Mediterranean restaurant, excellent; and those tacos, extra-excellent. Wifi was sketchy in areas, but free when you connected. The hot tub was cold and the resort is big...so thanks for the carts. Overall I'd return! read more

Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar..It is a mixed good/ bad experienced for my family.We stayed for 6 days.Overall it was just OK. CHECK IN: Receptionist was very pushy on selling room upgrades. She wasn't pleased when we turned it down so she made us wait to get our room. RESTAURANTS: Food was good overall and the staff are great. You have to know each restaurant's schedule because they don't open at the same time. Breakfast was the same menu everyday. Dinner was good because of the variety but you have to make a reservation. ROOM: Jr Suite was just ordinary. Nice thing is it gets cool really good. Shower was weak, maybe because we were on the 3rd floor. Housekeeping was awesome. They kept the room clean everyday. HOTEL ACCESSIBILITY: Since its a big resort, you'll need those golf carts to go around. This was the worst experienced from this trip. Most of the guys that drives the golfcarts are very rude. There are instances that they would take off right away and my kids or I would fall on to the seat. Then they would speed up and so you have to hold on because if your seating on the rear you'll probably fall. The waiting time for these golfcarts are long. Even if sometimes its just there. You have to adjust to them when they feel like driving. Worst customer service with this dept. This guys need to be retrained or be train about etiquette. CHECK OUT: We have to deal with the same guys. They just threw my luggage on the golf cart without care. My suitcase got scratched because he just dont care. I told him to stop the car so I can load my luggage in my car. But he said NO and drive past my car. He said check out first before I put my luggage. What does my luggage have to do with checking out? After I check out, I gave them the checkout slip and the guy gave me a lecture about I should know how they do things around there. It felt like I was on bootcamp instead of a 5 star hotel like they claimed. I've been around different countries and nice resorts but this one was not a pleasant experience for my family. OVERALL, its still a good resort. It just need some improvement on some departments. Only some rotten staff that makes them look bad. read more

Meh. Not worth $300 a night. I was expecting evening entertainment options like at other resorts. We paid $55 pp to go to a horribly amateur magic show. We laughed at how bad it was. Beautiful grounds and facilities that are well cared for. Kudos to the groundskeepers and housekeeping. Staff were mostly very nice. The pools are beautiful and well kept. Rigoberto the concierge was a con artist and very manipulative. He signed us up for a evening catamaran cruise that doesn't exist!! Just to fill his quota of idiots to do the time share scam. Not a good start to our vacation. The food was meh. Most hot meals in the buffets were barely warm. Burger bar at the beach is gross and should be shut down. Stale and cold burgers wrapped in paper. I am at this resort right now. Our room keys work once, then don't work again. We have to have them make us 3-4 keys a day, but we never know if they will work again. They apologize but give us no answer. We are not putting them by our cell phones. The same thing is happening to our neighbors who are also extremely frustrated. Everytime we come back to our room we have to cross our fingers if we will be able to enter our room! It takes 40 minutes to walk to the lobby with our small children wait in line at the front desk then walk back to our room. ANd we have to do this EVERY SINGLE DAY. IT iS RUINING OUR VACATION. The beach is beautiful and really well maintained with lots of cabanas. You only steps from a wing of the hotel so you can go inside to change and use the restroom. It's really nice that the lunch buffet is next to the beach. It's open from 11.:30am-5pm with lots of seafood read more

Me and my best friend did intensive research on all the resorts in playa del Carmen in our budget and ended up deciding on this resort and we were not disappointed! The resort staff is phenomenal and goes above and beyond, I recommend bringing around $50-$75 in tips simply because they deserve it! The entertainment shows at the theater are way better than expected, especially the magic show. The beaches and pool are beautiful and are both a perfect temperature. Food is great as well! Animals roam the resort such as peacocks and flamingos, which is very cool to see. Recommend for anyone! read more

This vacation was not what it has been in the past. I realize Covid caused problems but the fact that we spent several hours each day having our room keys replaced repeatedly and they said it was not the door lock is ridiculous. If all the keys quit working at once it is not the keys. House keeping was wonderful. Other than that I don't know that I'll be back. Waiting at an inaccessible room for hours every day is not fun. read more

Very confused as to how this resort has 5 stars. Maybe quality of the experience changes based on what part of the resort you book with, but as a frequent traveler, this trip was beyond disappointing. I stayed at Iberostar Paraiso Beach. They cut corners in every aspect of hospitality. They're website is VERY deceiving. Feels like a waste of thousands of dollars, wish we would have stayed elsewhere. Ill start off this review with what they do well in. 1. The overall environment is beautiful. Its picture perfect. 2. The animals and wildlife around the resort were the highlight of my trip. 3. The workers are hard workers and I respect and appreciate that. Now, opportunities for major improvement. 1. They do not supply any water bottles. They have water fill stations and give you glass bottles that do NOT smell clean. The lack of water bottles was extremely worry-some. 2. 5 out of 8 of my party got sick with diarrhea for 5 out of 7 days of our stay. So much so that we were stuck in our hotel room having to cancel excursions. The only reason 2 days we weren't sick is because we stopped drinking the water from refill stations and went and bought a lot of boxed water from the convenient store at a very high expense. 3. Despite being an all inclusive, nothing was inclusive except the buffet and drinks. You only get 3 sit down dinners and they're always booked. No room service (even if you're sick) (and you cant take food out of the buffets or sit down restaurants) You have to pay to go to the entertainment shows. And people will constantly walk up to you on the resort trying to sell you stuff but nobody will come up to you to get you a drink. Went by the club while it was empty and it smelled like piss. 4. When first arriving into the hotel room there was a dirty Qtip on the floor as well as hair and pubic hair. We called 3 times to have someone come and clean and each time was told "20 mins". 6 hours later they came and didn't even clean properly because there was still hair. Then we had a very loud renovation being done. We got a room change where they actually kicked us out of our room before our new room was ready. 5. Got moved to another room where the air conditioner was broken and our complaints were ignored for 3 days. In addition our balcony door lock was broken and our safe. 6. The lowest temp for A/C is 71 degrees F, and it turns off automatically whenever you leave the room. 7. The rooms have ants in them. Had a banana in the room for 1 hour and it got covered in ants. 8. The pool closes at 7, even though its still light. 9. The pool is very warm. Beyond what it should be, not refreshing at all. 10. The communication within the staff is not there. One minute you're being told 1 thing, the next minute you're being told other things. 11. They will not break bills for you. Which screws over their own employees. 12. Food is alright. Nothing rememberable or delicious. 13. The beaches are full of seaweed and rocks, so not enjoyable and not clear water. 14. Despite being a huge resort, there is no set schedule for getting picked up on the carts. They will just pass you or tell you "no, I'm not going to that part of the resort" and when you're walking they will practically run you over if you don't move. 15. If you're part of Lgbtq+......good luck Charlie, because they're homophobic and will laugh at your relationship before they grasp that you're actually partners, then look at you disappointed. 16. This place only cares about getting your money. They do not care about sustainability and the environment, they care about getting as much money as possible. Honestly I could keep going but I don't have all day. I am a understanding person who makes the best of what I am given. I try not to complain and let certain things slide. I am not someone who normally even does reviews...but I cant bare to see another family book here and have a ruined trip based on being deceived by what is online. I went with my family over spring break and had a very nice and relaxing time! All the staff was friendly and polite. I felt very safe the entire time we were there. The property is huge and the rooms are spaced out in lots of smaller condo-type buildings with 10 or so units, so it's not just one huge hotel building, which I liked. There are so many animals roaming around he property, I loved it! There were peacocks, parrots, flamingos, turtles, iguanas, and so many coati! The property and landscape is all kept very nice and tidy, which made the experience that much better. We were always able to find chairs on the beach which was very nice. However I don't think it is usually that easy but the resort was only 60% full when we were there. They had lots of activities on the beach, our favorites were Zumba at 3:30 and a balloon dart activity with slips different prizes in the balloons. One day for lunch they made a huge pan of paella on the beach with lots of seafood and veggies, it was delicious and fun to watch them make! The bars on the beach and at the pool were convenient and they had a wide selection of cocktails, both with and without alcohol so the younger people in our group were able to enjoy the fun of the beach and swim up bars! The water was pleasant and the beach had some seaweed but overall they did a nice job of trying to clear it out. The food that they had at the buffet restaurants was good overall. The lunch/dinner buffet had a large selection of food but it was the same every day. We really liked going to the taco restaurant in the shopping center at the resort for lunch, it was a nice change of pace from the buffets. Over near there was also a coffee shop with lots of yummy pastries and a crepe shop. The crepes might have been my favorite food of the week! The first crepe I got was a strawberry one, but they just used strawberry jam instead of fresh fruit which was disappointing. However, The best combo I tried was a crepe with custard and Nutella! We ate at the Rock Cafe for dinner two nights and liked the sit-down experience. I would recommend the fried calamari appetizer and the salmon entree! We chose to have our "fancy" dinner nights at the Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants. The Japanese was a Benihana-style meal where the food was prepared at the grill in front of you. I think our chef was more talented than other chefs I've seen at similar restaurants before which made the experience all the more fun. The evening entertainment was okay. Some of the shows felt somewhat amateur and the sets looked homemade. There seemed to be at least one minor technical difficulty each night. The magician they had perform one night was very good though! I also enjoyed their Disney music performance night, lots of fun songs to listen to! Overall, I had a great week on the beach. I wish the buffet food had been a little better but I would certainly recommend this resort and will likely stay at Iberostar resorts in the future. read more

We tried many times to contact Beach Resort Director , Elena about the following situations but she was never available: We were told by shuttle driver not to get on an empty shuttle to get to our room ,about a 12 minute walk for seniors in 90 degree sun, wow! Because our bathing suits were damp, why not use a cloth to wipe? The seats are plastic, the sun would have dried them in one minute, we were not wet just damp, go figure !. Check in VERY slow, way to long. Not enough front desk reps. From there downhill even more. No beach service at the Iberostar Beach , no drinks, no food. Due to Hurricane Grace damage, no warning from resort, just too bad. However, on the same beach, service for Iberostar Lindo and Iberostar Maya because the hurricane did not damage there bar on beach, they had no food on beach though. Would not common sense be to let all Iberostar guests use the bars that were open?? It became very frustrating and regrettably some of the waitresses (Teresa) and bartenders became rude because they were stuck in the middle of the fiasco. We have been to Iberostar resorts for a total of five weeks in less then a year, I requested a room near the beach by messaging the resort before we arrived, they gave us building 40 which is almost the farthest from the beach. After begging cajoling and telling them we are members of there Horizons club they put us in building 35 which is halfway to the beach area. And last but not least, a security guard confiscated our towels from our palapa when we went for our covid test, maybe an hour? We have traveled to Cancun, Playa de Carmen and all over the area for over 20 years. All the Riu, Occidentals, Sandos, Parnassus, Royal Resorts, Dreams, Viva Wyndham, Moon Palace. Unbelievably huge resort. Be prepared to walk. Try to get rooms with lover numbers or ask for rooms near the pool area to save walking. Food and drinks are all inclusive so enjoy as much as you can. Staff is awesome. Make sure to take mosquito spray as thats a common problem in any resort of this size in Cancun. And yes as a fellow yelper mentioned there is no free WiFi it's pretty far to access it. You have to pay if needed in rooms and near pool and beach areas. read more

People, this is NOT a 5-star hotel, in fact far from it. Yes, it's all inclusive which is nice and a few of the restaurants are decent, but anything I can say positive ends there. Beds are like sleeping on a sheet of lumber and the towels are like using sand paper to dry off. I bought a pair of water shoes in the morning, didn't use them and tried to return them in the afternoon and have the credit put back to my room, but they were extremely rude and very unhelpful! You should be ashamed. If you want to come and get as drunk as you can and eat at so, so buffets you've found your home. DON'T STAY HERE!! read more

Amazing stay at Iberostar. This was my second stay here and it was just as perfect as I remembered. The staff is so helpful and eager to please and the grounds are kept up beautifully. It is all-inclusive, but some things do have an additional cost (mainly spa services, items in the gift shops, and medical services). We got there 2 hours before check-in, but the girl at the front desk allowed us to leave our luggage in the lobby and have lunch at their buffet. Afterwards, we were taken to our room, which was in a perfect location right across the pool. The property is HUGE though, so although we were close to the pool, it was about a 5 minute walk to the beach one way and a 5 minute walk the opposite way to the main restaurants, theater, and lobby. My husband and I didn't mind the extra walking (considering how much we were eating), but if you don't want to walk, they have shuttle stops outside the rooms. The pool is massive and there are many different areas. The north side of the pool is mostly for kids (3 ft. deep), and then it turns into the "tranquility area," with hanging beds to relax and sleep on. The side closer to the peach is a little more active, with music and a swim-up bar. There are PLENTY of lounge chairs throughout the entire pool, so there will always be a spot open to leave your stuff at or to lay on. The beach also has an endless amount of lounge chairs with straw umbrellas. It was very nice and relaxing, and clean (they clean it every motioning and always have staff cleaning up through the day). They have daily sports and games on one side of the beach, while the other is more quiet. They also have a "snack" restaurant (burgers, hot dogs, ice cream) and a bar. Towels are provided for you. (Side note: Don't feed the birds *insert angry face* that's why they keep coming back. Plus, it's bad for them.) Most of the food isn't amazing, but it's satisfying. There are two main restaurants, one by the beach and one by the lobby and they are both buffets, but the items change slightly everyday. It was nice having so much to choose from. They have three specialty restaurants for dinner, but you need to make reservations for those in advance when you arrive with the concierge. We only had dinner at "La Hacienda" and ate at the buffet for the rest of our stay (both good). The only thing I wish the hotel had was more Mexican food. They did have it at every buffet, but not as much as I'd like. I understand they want to cater to all clients, but it'd be nice to have something more for a true Mexican experience. We just returned from an 8 day stay at Iberostar Paraiso (Aug. 2017). We had 3 room (2 for adults and 1 for teenage children). We encountered a severe security issue the day before we left. A VERY INTOXICATED guest pounded on the door where the children were staying and tried to use their key card to enter the room. When that did not work, they forcibly entered the room. The children were in the room and chased the guest away. Over the next 24 hours, the guest returned 3 MORE TIMES!!!! They would pound on the door and try to get in. The last incident occurred at 2AM. This was reported to hotel security but, it took 3 phone calls before they responded. Security claimed this was an "Accident" and the guest was "Confused" except the guest was staying on the complete other side of the building!!!! At this point the children (As well as the adults) felt unsafe and we left the resort. Upon leaving, I left my contact information with the front desk and demanded that the property manager and head of security get in touch with me as soon as I got back in the states. So far neither one has contacted me about the incident. If you google search this resort, you will find someone was recently killed there (July 2017) as well as other incidents where people have been physically hurt and required hospitalization. Clearly the management and security at this hotel do not have safety as a priority and you are putting your life and the lives of your family at significant risk by staying at this resort. read more

Just had our wedding week here. So sad to leave. The resort is a little spread out (which keeps it feeling natural and not so industrial like some hotels). Every inch of landscaping is perfectly maintained and everything from rooms to pools to restaurants was clean. Service was excellent. Wedding coordinator was on the ball and we would do it all again with our 70 guests here again in a heartbeat! read more

This place was LIT. Mis respetos a este lugar and their staff. This place was top notch from the beginning of our stay until the very end. Upon arrival they were very helpful in getting our room together, taking care of our luggage and setting up our excursions. I secretly got either the staff and planned my ENGAGEMENT on the BEACH with them and they helped me throughout the entire process! They were great at keeping it a secret the entire stay and helping bringing that special moment to life when it came time, while also providing a amazing 5 course dinner on the beach after the engagement. This place was great through and through! The daytime buffet food is mediocre depending on where you eat on the resort, but I felt like all dinner options were amazing! If you like to drink, ask for a separate shot of your favorite liquor to add to your all inclusive drink (wink). Beautiful palm tree scenery outside of each room is worth staying here. This resort has the worst service I've ever experienced. For the cost of this all inclusive resort, you'd expect to be getting quality service and it's nothing near. When I arrived (at around 3) they told me my room wasn't ready, I waited 2 and a half hours to get my room that they told me would be ready in 15 minutes. By the time I got to my room, when I attempted to make dinner reservations they told me it was too late and you have to make them by 5, how on earth would I have been able to do that without a room?? Then when we finally got the issue sorted out and I got dinner reservations, the restaurant made us wait an hour (and the restaurant was almost empty) because we weren't on his list he made at 5. Day 2, I wanted to sign up for the star prestige club (which includes the beds on the beach, a beachside private bar, and private lounge) the people at the beach told us to go to the concierge (on the other side of the resort) to sign up for this. The concierge told us the opposite and that u sign up at the beach. Then they told us that we could sign up "later today" or "tomorrow morning you can" and by the time tomorrow morning came, it was full because we didn't sign up "yesterday". That's funny because I tried 5 times to sign up yesterday. On day 2, After the cleaning ladies did my room, my keys wouldn't work, I tried to ask the cleaning lady to let me in (and I can show ID to prove it's my room) but she was rude about it, turned her back and told me no. My ID was in my room so going all the way to the lobby (which is across the campus) is not ideal for them to tell me they can't do anything without my ID. I found a dark hair in my bed after the cleaning ladies cleaned my room (my hair is blonde and my daughters hair is blonde.) The staff didn't do anything about this issue, didn't answer my phone call and never called me back. Day 3, at 3 am I found bed bugs in my bed. My legs were oozing as I'm especially allergic to whatever bug it was. Then I waited for the office to call me back to give me a new room/ resolve the issue, 2 hours later still never returned the call. We walked down to the lobby at 10am and waited 2 hours there for a manager. The manager proceeded to tell me she's sorry but she can't do anything about our issues. She got us a bed at the beach far away from our room (not near any bars or snack places) then when we asked if we could go to the private bar if we walked over, "nope, because I can't supply a bed" even though we offered to pay for it without the beach bed. Her other way of coming up with a solution was giving us a bed by the pool that fits 2 (there's 3 of us...) Then they sent someone to my room to fumigate the room to get rid of the bed bugs while all my stuff and I was still in it? brutal. The food here.. not the best on the planet, at the hibachi place the chef let go of the flipper and it hit someone in the face. All of the food at the hibachi place was burnt and under-seasoned. We then tried to book our COVID tests as you need them to get back into the country. The public relations staff were rude and told us he wouldn't help unless we had our passports. (He has our passports on file) and we had identification to prove we were us but he still refused. All of this to BOOK the covid test, not even to take it. Overall this service was worse than words can describe, I DO NOT recommend coming here unless you want bed bugs, bad service, and terrible food. read more

I don't know how any of the people on this list reviewed this hotel so positively. The good reviews are the reason I booked and they all could not be more wrong. The entire experience has been horrible. The service has been less than ideal to the point I would give no stars. The staff is rude and grumpy, and you feel like you are bothering them when asking a simple question. We sat down at the concierge and the employee goes "what are you here for?" Well, what do you think? You cannot eat the food, it's the worst I've ever seen or eaten in my entire life - my boyfriend and I have been sick the whole time every time we even try to. I've been living on rice as the only safe option with chips from the shops that they have here. Mind you a bag of chips cost $12 US dollars which is also appalling. The lounge chairs are nestled under umbrellas that cannot be moved and cover you entirely so you are completely in the shade. If you are looking to get sun, you have to lay on the pavement for that which is also a joke. There are Coatis that are basically Mexico's version of raccoons that are completely and utterly disgusting and are in your space. If you are on the beach, you better believe they are coming up to your lounge chair to look for food. If you are eating at picnic tables on the beach, they will jump up on them while you are sitting there. They also come in and out of the garbage, further proving they really are gross raccoons. The pool grounds are okay at best. You will not be able to get service here. I've never been to a resort where employees don't ask you if you would like water or a drink, or food (but it makes sense cause they don't offer lunch options). The "hot" tub has been cold the entire time which is laughable. The rooms are not very nice either and the maids leave the door wide open when they are cleaning so bugs get in. You would think they would be more careful considering Zyka is a very real threat and there are a lot of women here. It's also gross because who would want to sleep with bugs? I could go on and on.. but I felt truly obligated to write this post as I followed the reviews and the good ones are far, far from reality. read more

Free wifi throughout the entire resort (though you may lose it a lot and have to go back into Settings on your phone to let the wifi pop back up); pool area was decently nice; I actually liked the buffet food but grew tired of having self-made tacos so much Negatives... No drink service at the pool; the beach had these wood/straw umbrellas that can't be moved and since the beach gets packed during the day it's hard to maneuver your chair depending on if you want sun or shade; Seagulls on the beach that wouldn't be a problem if little kids weren't constantly giving them food (I saw those birds shitting EVERYWHERE); Coati or whatever the animals are, they're basically Mexican raccoons...; Did NOT like any of the restaurants (where you had to make reservations), some of the food we got just wasn't good I've been at better resorts in this area (Barceló is great) and likely wouldn't return here read more

This is a tricky review I do want to give this resort kudos for the staff . Amazing staff The rooms are great the pool is great . Let's talk about the food definitely only a 3 star resort now I preferred some of the restaurants the Japanese the Italian they were 4 star ! The drinks were just not good I'm a person that generally does not drink a lot but I honestly could not get a buzz at this place it was entirely to hard to drink that much liquid. The drinks must be watered down. I would prefer to have a nice drink and only have two versus whatever they were making. Plus definitely some food safety violations. I observed at the Italian dinner one night the kid sprayed the floor and the counter then washed the floor then the counter with the same floor scraper. The bar in the show area smells like dirty towels . It was this way for a week this is not normal could be all kinds of listeria . Please teach the staff food safety procedures Next let's talk about resort credits they are almost pointless.if you are going to gamble make sure to use the resort credit on the first day . Unfortunately today is the day....before I have to go back to work! That means the vacation is over and it's time to return to reality. I think some of the reviews on this resort are slightly exagerated. Some writers give bad reviews that are harsh, while others say they got more then they probably did. I will be reviewing both this resort and The Paraiso Lindo resort, because, we stayed at both resorts during our vacation. Not much difference between the two, but there were enough things about Lindo that need to be said! We started our vacation at the Paraiso Beach resort. When we arrived the check-in process was smooth and painless. After check-in, we were whisked away by one of the many Bell waiters in a golf cart with our luggage to our room. We were assigned room 3103, it is a first floor room with a view of...trees...and a pathway to the pool. The first thing that was noticed when we stepped into the room, was the mildew odor. I understand that you will have this considering the tropical location, however, the pillows had the smell ingrained in them. My wife used some of her "smell good spray" on the covers and inside the pillow covers and after 2 nights we couldn't handle it anymore. The shower stall has been repaired numerous times and was outdated. The lighting in the bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. The opportunity to transfer to Lindo was presented to us...so we jumped on it. Now you ask why in the world did he give this resort a 4 star review? Because the rest of our stay was at the Paraiso Lindo! The notable differences were....no funky smell when you entered the room. We had a third floor room this time, and it overlooked the pool. The food at the Lindo buffets were a step up and a few better options! The only downside, the pool bars! They were not like the "La Perla" Aqua bar at Paraiso Beach. I cannot remember the bartenders name, but he was really good. He made the same drinks as all the other bars, but his presentation was much better. He was funny and very interactive with the crowd that gathered there. I cannot wait to go back! We have already told the family to save their money.
