I agree with other reviewers that the doctors are great, that the facility is clean, and that the selection of frames is good. However, we had a very negative experience when my husband, who is not white, went in for an appointment and was grilled about health insurance when he was clearly covered under my plan. They had all the information on file (I sent it in myself, and they acknowledged having received it) but insisted he verify my birthdate and asked him to pay for service up front because he couldn't remember the exact date. On another occasion, my adult son, who presents as white, was not asked for this information. We have been going there as a family for years, but I'm sorry to say we will be shopping around for another place. read more

We've been going to iCare for several years now and highly recommend it. Dr. Sanders is a very careful and attentive physician and takes the time to explain everything as she performs tests and interprets results. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They go over costs and explain plans etc. so you always clearly know what your insurance pays and what's out of pocket. Although they're in a small rural town context, they have a great selection of men's and women's frames and stay up with the changes in styles. They also have a good selection of children's frames. I go here for glasses through work. This place is pretty cool and somewhat sophisticated for sleepy little Mount Vernon, Ohio. I've never waited long and I've never had a problem scheduling an appointment either. The staff is very friendly and quite personable. During my last exam Dr. Wineland asked me about the hockey logo on my hoodie. When he learned that it was for the team I played on he told me that he still plays as well. So, after checking my eyesight and deeming me not blind, he asked for my card because they are frequently looking for goalies! I don't want to offend anyone or perpetuate stereotypes but it was really refreshing to talk to an optometrist that was actually "cool" and had a nice personality. When he asked about my vision during the exam it wasn't like he was just reading off a checklist to me. (Which is what other places feel like) Again, he won big points with me for sincerity. I hope I get some ice time out of this exam too!!! read more

I started going here with my family a few short years ago, as they are in our home area. When I had my first appointment, and in subsequent appointments, I found the experience pretty positive mostly. There are mostly good things I have to say about these people, though there is room for improvement.
