We were very pleasantly surprised at the service and professionalism of the staff at Meijer's Optical. My wife didn't realize that it was the doctor himself who was checking her in. We both had full eye exams and both ordered new glasses. The exams were very thorough and professional; the dispensing staff was very helpful and the selection of lenses and frames was excellent. We were able to get appointments within a few days of calling and our glasses will be ready within 2 weeks. You can also get insurance on your glasses against breakage and scratches on the lenses. We were very pleased with the service at Meijer Optical.

The second visit was at the Polaris office, they did not get an authorization for my exam. Nine months later I receive a bill from them and I call my insurance to see why. America's Best didn't get an authorization at the time of the exam. I made multiple calls to assist them with getting the authorization, they never called my insurance to get it. I paid the bill. Won't ever go back.

What should have been a simple prescription lens change for sunglasses turned into a six-week…read moreordeal involving multiple errors and unacceptable customer service. We brought in our own eyeglass frames with an existing pair of sunglasses that had dark black lenses, requesting only a prescription update. On the first pickup, the lenses were the wrong color (brown), while the original dark black lenses were still in the package. Management acknowledged the error and said the order would be corrected within two weeks. On the second visit, the replacement lenses were again incorrect--this time light gray, still not matching the original dark black lenses. At this point, after three store visits and weeks of delay, my wife requested cancellation and a refund, including crediting the insurance portion, so we could take the prescription, original frames, and original lenses elsewhere. She needs these prescription sunglasses for an upcoming trip. The situation worsened when the assistant manager was dismissive and unhelpful, stating she could not release the frames and original lenses or immediately credit the insurance portion. The tone and handling of this interaction were insulting and unprofessional, especially given that the repeated errors were not ours. We have since filed a complaint with America's Best corporate headquarters. The corporate representative has been professional and is working with the store manager to resolve and monitor the situation. We are hopeful this will finally lead to a resolution, but this experience has been extremely frustrating and time-consuming for what should have been a simple straightforward service. After multiple trips trying to find a replacement, I finally found another pair I liked in September, only to then be told the original Moncler frames could actually be ordered after all. When I picked them up, they were completely crooked and had to be adjusted just to be wearable. Another replacement was ordered, and 15 days later I still have no update. Way too much back-and-forth, conflicting information, and wasted time for what should have been a simple replacement. I would not come back.
