Was happy to give my business here until today when I took my kids and one wanted bubble gum tub for home....my other kids got cups and I spent $40. My daughter wanted to eat some bubblegum before going home and we sat down for 5 minutes. The owner rudely came to me and said "you shouldn't eat the tubs in store or all customers will do the same" and then walked away. I was floored. I should I have said "You should I hope that every customer ate tubs of ice cream and you'd make more money" Very rude and and now made our decision to go to Shivers in Howell or maybe Jersey Freeze. Like really, what was the point of saying that? UPDATE: I have been expressing dissatisfaction with a number of friends who had similar experience. Website: 3/5 While I do appreciate the vibrant colors that drizzle upon the website, I have to maintain honesty when it comes to the outdated theme, which can make the website easily susceptible to cyberattacks. Nonetheless, I do enjoy see the header image of the establishment's front view welcoming anyone into the website. Ambiance: 5/5 The bright flashing lights come mainly from the arcade section, which can be helpful if you wish to avoid bright lights. The opaque tiles complement the bright colors well. A line of freezers have options of cakes and ice cream dishes. Despite this, the establishment is quite warm, which definitely helped acclimate us since the cold rain intruded upon us upon entering. To say that the establishment has enough space is an understatement, for the large space contains many well-spaced tables. This suggests to me that the well-cared-for ice cream does not accumulate icicles or freezer burn. A first-time customer; my wife and I stopped in here for Nat'l Ice Cream Day. Wow, what a surprise...it seems they have every flavor you can imagine! The staff was nice and the place was clean. Plenty of seating inside and outside. There are approx. 7-8 display freezers with ice cream and another 3-4 with display freezers with Italian Ice. Additionally, they have a wall full of freezers stocked with the majority of the flavors in different size buckets. The price may be higher than other ice cream shops, but the quality and flavors are worth it. Definitely will stop in when picking up some White Castle from across the street. Honestly, it put a bad taste in my mouth and I hadn't been back since. Today, really wanted ice cream and figured I would give it one more try. The place was empty. I knew what I wanted. I got ice cream in a waffle cone and when I was rung up the girl told me $9 and change. I asked how much the waffle cone was because that's the priciest ice cream I ever got. The girl couldn't answer me it was like I was speaking another language. I don't know what happened. She just didn't get what i was asking. So i tried to say how much would just the ice cream be in a cup and she looked at me again. Girl couldn't give me a straight answer but when she did speak, again she was rude and had an attitude. As far as I can remember, this ice cream joint has been alluring drivers on route 9 to quench their sweet tooth with their 120+ flavors (I lost count!) Pro is the number of ice cream varieties, and yeah, they're quite tasty (ordered flavors such as heavenly hash, and blueberry). Con is the variety doesn't expand much beyond the "combinatorics" of the standards and dare to be more adventurous (at least on Memorial Day weekend when we visited them)... I can't blame them for not wasting resources on exotic or bizarre flavors though if that means throw-aways at the end of the day.... But when chips and cookies can have flavors like green tea or sriracha or haggis, perhaps they can spare half a barrel to experiment? (The most exotic items appear to be things that start with "coconut"). And the servers can be a bit disorganized and rushing at busy times, which also can perhaps be forgiven. I firmly committed after going to this establishment many years to finally say goodbye forever. The owner runs his business in misery and it's evident by the workers. All he does is sit in the corner and count the pennies reach night because he only takes cash. And he's not very dog friendly. We went there one night when they were about to close and my lab was literally just outside the establishment with my daughter's boyfriend. The owner was very nasty and told him that some dog bit a customer and he doesn't allow dogs anymore. The shame of it all is that his ice cream is good but his demeanor, disposition makes it an overall miserable experience. His daughter is really the genius behind all the delicious flavors. He clearly doesn't care about the customers because I'm not the first to leave a review about his nastiness to a customer who had a French bulldog in a similar situation as mine at his establishment. We wanted to go for a ride to get ice cream with my small, well behaved, sweet French Bulldog. I was sitting outside with her on a very short leash, waiting for my parents to come outside. There was no one within 30 feet of me and my dog. A disheveled, miserable old man (who is, apparently, the owner) came out and told me I had to put my dog in the car. It was 85 degrees outside. He was rude in his approach and is horribly unkempt (I wonder what falls out of his beard and into the ice cream he serves). He is a reflection of the business he runs - dirty and unpleasant. Here I have a choice of over 80 ice creams - could be more- there is soft serve, hard pack, and Italian ice even shakes I think. There is a freezer wall like at the market with pints, gallons and party size buckets of frozen happiness, so sometimes I just stop off on the way home and grab a flavor from the case as a treat for after dinner. So here is what I love- Italian Watermelon Ice, the NY Cheesecake scoops, Mint Oreo Cookie or the soft serve vanilla/chocolate cone and ice cream upside down in a cup with the chocolate dip poured over the top !!!! They only take cash which is why its four stars- even though they have an ATM who really carries cash anymore? I tried Pistachio Salad, a combination of pistachio and chocolate cherry, WOW!
