When visiting belmar, my friends insisted that I try Strollo's. There were many people outside enjoying their Strollo's and there was a line stretching out the door when I stopped by. The line moved impressively fast and when I got to the window, I was served very quickly. The inside is quite small and there is no indoor seating or space to stand around. It is also cash only, but there is an atm conveniently right outside. Strollo's has an interesting concept of both soft serve and Italian ice, with the option to have both together in the same cup. Owned my home in Belmar for the past 15 years. Strollos has been a dessert shop favorite to my entire family up until this season. Been there with my crew 3 times. Each time the portion size was extremely small. Some (not all) staff clearly have very little interest working or showing any appreciation for a customers return. Finally each time we were there getting icecream and or ice, it was extremely soft and melted in a short period of time. The best ice cream place I have ever been to! I got a small cup of Italian ice with the flavors: red raspberry, mango, and passion fruit. Out of the three, the mango tasted the best. It was so flavorful, very sweet, and it tasted very different from other Italian ice places. The consistency of the ice was perfect. It was very smooth, not chunky at all. It is presented very beautifully too. You can choose up to 4 flavors with a small and it was cheaper than most places! I also tried their vanilla and strawberry soft serve. It was so yummy-- I usually never get soft serve ice cream because I think the flavor is too strong and artificial tasting. However, the strawberry was spot on. It tastes like the strawberry flavor soft serves I get in China. It was so creamy and thick which I really like. There is very limited seating (no seating inside). I remember driving up to the old parking lot and not even being able to find parking and when you did find parking you got to wait in a huge line.......all this for some ice? As part of my day at the beach with one of my besties, I was so excited to go back to Strollos to try some new flavors. Not only did I love it, but I've made a Strollos fan out of my girlfriend. I love the fact that you can get 4 flavors in a small, it was enough for the two of us to share, and only $3.50. We went for the chocolate, peanut butter, mango, and lemon. We were over the moon with the chocolate and peanut butter combination. It was like a cold creamy Reese's peanut butter cup. So good! I no longer feel the need to continue experimenting with flavors; they are all good depending on your individual taste. But, I am absolutely sold on the chocolate and peanut butter. I'm still in amazement on how they can make Italian ice so decadent and creamy without the addition of a dairy product. THE BEST. SO GOOD! Nothing beats Strollo's after a super hot day on the beach (or any day really). I was so happy that I discovered this place through Yelp a few years ago and have been coming regularly ever since! This "Italian" ice is served almost like soft-serve ice cream, which makes for a more creamy texture. I definitely prefer it over the traditional scooped Italian ice, which can be a little too icy/flaky. If you order the ice, you can put a couple different flavors in one cup. (I'm not sure if there is a limit on how many.) Personally, I like to have the traditional red/white/blue ice, which is red raspberry/blue raspberry/lemon. The small size cup is a pretty good serving, since the ice itself stands up pretty tall from the top of the dish. The only complaint I have is that the flavors are only listed on a board inside the facility. You have to peer inside the window to view the flavors for that particular day. It can be kind of frustrating because you can't always see the flavors from the back of the line. This would easily be solved by having a sign outside showing the flavors. read more
