This is a long one…read more... Excited to find this humble yet amazing "micro-bakery" in small town Snohomish. Don't undermine this small food truck size business they are pretty mighty imo! They put out THE MOST NUTRITIOUS and DELICIOUS sourdough breads in times when nutritious food is harder to find in typical grocery stores. Katya is passionate about producing the BEST bread and pastries starting from grounds up with purchasing local organic non gmo whole grain flour, milling grain in house (retaining nutritious components) and with utmost care transforming them into perfect loaves with her tried and true methods with her background in medical research. Her sourdough reigns supreme imo. So fresh, so substantial without making my hubby and I feel sluggish afterwards. Even better is the perfect flavor and texture. Her brownish sour dough is truly special! It was easy to pre-order online, then pick up at the Snohomish farmer's market on Thursdays during the summer months. I believe on other months her bakery truck is stationed at the Snohomish co-op parking lot. They take cards. Picking up bread at her place reminds me of going to open markets like people in Asia and Europe. Just a cool and more healthy concept of eating locally grown organic products for our health and well being. So far, we enjoyed the European whole grain rustic loaf ($12). It is a good base for amazing avocado toast. It's a good quality dense bread that sticks to your ribs. One slice is all that's needed for breakfast or open face sandwich. Love the rustic crunch after it's toasted! The $8 smaller raisin walnut sourdough would make a good dessert/ snack toast. We would top it with olive oil/butter and honey/peanut butter. One bite and I thought to myself, who needs ice cream? The fancier loaves are $14. A bit more spendy but sooo worth it!! We also got the Einkhorn whole grain sourdough too. ($12). Can't wait to try that one next. We may branch out to more like the new cheddar and chives sourdough and the one with jalepeno. She offers classes on how to make it as well. Thanks Dubuque Bakery for going the extra mile for making bread the way it should be. No additives, no stripping of its best parts and your tricks to maximize flavor. I can see now why people were so into learning how to make sourdough bread during COVID times. All your thoughtful processes shine through it was truly an enjoyable experience! The Strawberry Milk flavor was creamy, refreshing, and had a fun twist on a classic flavor. The staff was also so welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. My only downside is the price. While I enjoyed trying it, I personally felt it was a bit too pricey for the portion size. It's definitely a fun place to check out and try something different, but it may not be an everyday treat because of the cost. Still glad I got to experience it and try a new flavor!

This shop, located right under Third Place Commons, smells heavenly. The rich aroma of melted chocolate seeps out of the store throughout what seems to be the entire mall. Chcoolate Man sells a wide variety of feves/disks, chocolate sculptures, truffles, confections - basically anything a chocolate lover could want. I especially love how they have smaller 1/2 pound bags instead of most high end shops that sell a minimum of 1 pound or 500g. It's great for someone who just wants a bit for tastings and for snacking on afterwards! They also have samples of everything to help decide. For our final tasting, we went with eight types of couverture (three from Chocolate Man) and four types of typical grocery store chocolate chips. Guittard Onyx 72% ($8.31 per half pound) - I tried this one but didn't buy it. This chocolate gives a really intense dark chocolate flavor. Very single note on my tongue. Think of a high quality dark chocolate blend, but amp up that flavor by 5x. It seems great for recipes that just need a really strong dark chocolate flavor without too much complexity. Felchlin Maracaibo 65% ($21.46 per half pound) - It starts off with a bit of a flowery and perfumy aroma, then descends into a very pleasing balanced acidity and smoothness, combined with a bit of a spiced flavor. It's an excellent snacking chip. My favorite of the entire array of 12. Ranked 1/12 Guittard Coucher du Soleil 72% ($9.70 per half pound) - Definitely a darker chocolate, less sweet with pleasing astringency, maybe a little smoky, smooth with some slight red fruit notes on the finish. It's a little strange because the taste between different chips varies a little, with some being more fruity than others. I'm not sure what the cause is. It's a good snacking chip that never gets tiresome to eat and it seems to be good for recipes that require a high quality chocolate that's generally neutral flavored with only slight complexity. Ranked 4/12 Valrhona Manjari 64% ($20.99 per half pound) - Starts with pleasing cocoa flavor but then a second or two later develops an intensely tangy berry flavor that spreads throughout the entire mouth. The flavor is so strong that I find it very difficult to eat more than one feve at a time. It's definitely more of a sipping chip than snacking. Ranked 5/12 Chocolate Man is a fantastic store for any chocolate lover. They even have a little stamp rewards card for freebies every $100 spent. I'll definitely be back for more in the future.

Mango crema: 4/5 Oolong milk tea: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall: 4.5 but I'm rounding it up to 5 because I truly enjoyed the drinks and was happy with the service. Bonus: I got to talk with the owner for a bit and found that he is super nice and friendly and really cares for the quality of all the drinks. The portions are generous and easily could have fed two people for sure though.
