I see this truck daily and I always told myself I was going to swing into the brewery and try the dumplings. I'm a sucker for them! I finally did! No regrets. Dumplings galore. I wish there was more to the order cause I didn't want to stop eating them. It's a cute truck and friendly service. Best part I can bring my pup! Grab a god beer and sit outside and enjoy the colorful ambiance with all their picnic tables.

**vegetarian review** I was excited to see a good amount of vegetarian options! I got the Dan Dan noodles with mushroom and tofu as well as the chrysanthemum salad. Dan dan noodles - The portion size is good and the flavour is really strong. The sauce has that Sichuan pepper kick which I love! On downside my sauce leaked and made a mess. It was quite a bit of cleanup. chrysanthemum salad The salad is basic with chrysanthemum leaves, garlic and chilly. I expected some kinda of dressing and was disappointed from the lack off. It felt overpriced for $7. That said I mixed it in with my noodles and definitely liked that combination.

This food truck is located in the cloudburst beer garden and it's such a cute little spot! Perfect place for a sunny day to grab a beer and food and it's dog friendly you order from the truck and it takes about 10-15 minutes and staff is super friendly. For food we've ordered a few things off the appetizer menu and two noodle dishes! chrysanthemum salad : this had so much flavor and it was delicious! Definitely get this for a side if you like a little bit of sour and savory taste. It has chilies and "spicy" peanuts but I thought it could use more spice. Silly chickpea curd: it wasn't my favorite - thought it tasted bland Sichuan pork dumplings: this was my favorite out of all the dishes! Sesame noodles : got this dish with tofu because I went with my vegan friend and the tofu was very flavorful and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Noodles were cooked perfectly but I thought this could use a little more spice and seasoning. It tasted a bit bland but I added the leftover chili oil from the dumplings and it was perfect Dan Dan noodles: I couldn't tell the difference between this and the sesame noodles- my friend and I thought they l taste the same but this was also a little bland. Overall, the vibe of this place is great- dog friendly, outdoor seatings, and quick grab. But I don't think I'll be back for the food- I thought a lot of the dishes were bland and not very authentic.

This is such a cute little brewery & food truck set up. The setting and patio is well organized and you have quite a bit of space. I recommend making a reservation, as this is the perfect chill spot or lunch post-farmers market. You order food and drinks separate (like most food truck/brewery set ups in Ballard) so this is purely about the food: SO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS - all of the dishes we ordered I would order again: Silky Chickpea Curd Chrysanthemum Salad - a surprise fav Garlicky Cucumbers - always refreshing Sichuan Pork Dumplings - enjoyed by others Cold Noodles - all the noodles have a veg option and were superb Everything blew us away and we are so excited to have this local option!

Dan Dan noodles - half pork/half tofu and mushrooms Szechuan cucumbers Pork dumplings

Incredible little fusion spot tucked away behind the busy streets of Ballard and planted right next to a brewery. Food was super flavorful (Dan Dan noodles are great and filling), but the cucumbers with Szechuan took home the medal. Appreciate the guy working there too, he was kind and very helpful, will be back.

A wonderful find! 10/10 for the food and vibe. Really friendly guys at the food truck. Sichuan Pork Dumplings were so darn delicious. The cucumbers with Sichuan sauce was amazing too. I liked the sauce so much I wanted to buy it, but the guys at the truck gave a sampler for free. Everything on the plate was so fresh and they even had good vegetarian options. Definitely a chill place to hangout at. You could get beer at the adjacent bar. Would recommend 100% if you're in the area.

    Dan dan noodles (vegan)
    Matt B.

They're set up in Cloudburst, offering lots of Asian fusion dishes, most of which can be or are default vegan. We ordered some dan dan noodles ($13 plus tax), which were brought out in about 15 minutes. The order came with a decent portion of medium thick wheat noodles, fried tofu, a few pieces of carrot, some picked veggies, and coated in a sour, sesame peanuty sauce filled with Szechuan peppercorns. Not an authentic take on the dish and the sauce was a bit too sour, but the peppercorns were a nice touch and the sauce was tasty enough. Pleasant stuff.

    Mala noodles soup with chicken

I've stopped here twice on bike rides to Shilshole. The outdoor dining area is a very pleasant place to enjoy delicious food from the Dump Truck. Alas, I haven't tried the dumplings but have enjoyed two of the noodle dishes: sesame noodles with tofu and mushroom and mala noodle soup with chicken. Both were packed with flavorful and hit the spot. Will look forward to trying more food here and maybe visiting their restaurant someday too.

    Mala noodles
    Jennifer C.

As someone who grew up eating Szechuan food, this is no where near as good or authentic as the real deal. The Mala noodles barely had any spice and tasted very bland overall. Also the toppings to noodle ratio was off and there was barely any soup. The people that work here are very nice but I won't be returning because 1) the food is overpriced for the quality, and 2) the food isn't good. You can head to CID for cheaper and tastier food.

Pork Dumplings and sesame noodles !

Dump truck has great food great options and you get to enjoy cloudburst selection of beers! The service was quick and everything tasted incredible. Great spot in Ballard comfy spots and plenty of room for big groups! There are outside snd inside spots that make it great for any season! Make sure to get the the Sichuan Pork Dumplings!

We first went to the 老四川 in Seattle before our son was born. He'll be 36 years old this year, so…read moreyes he's a horse. I had lived in Beijing for 8 years and spoke pretty good mandarin for a 老外 so I ordered for us. Our waitress, one of two sisters who ran the place, I call her 陈大姐, said to me, Wow, you can speak Chinese! You must be very smart! I replied, You must be very smart. You can speak Chinese! At first she didn't know what to say but then laughed. It was the beginning of a lovely relationship. However since the pandemic we had not been back. Perhaps yesterday we were in the spirit of celebrating the Spring Festival. We decided to go there. What a great choice! 陈大姐 by coincidence was working. She retired years ago. (Her sister opened another 老四川 in Bellevue but unfortunately has since passed away.) 陈大姐 immediately recognized us. She remembered our son and other family members who often joined us there. It felt like old friends getting together again. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only ones in our little group. It's better to have more people so you can order more dishes. We only got 4 dishes, 宫保鱼, 椒盐虾,干煸四季豆, 夫妻肺片。Gong bao fish, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans and "husband and wife lung strips"! Actually that's a beef and tendon appetizer. Everything tasted just like we remember. Well, the fish dish was wetter than before but still tasty. Flavors are authentic but a little toned down from the Sichuan food in China and in a few other local restaurants. The main flavor of Sichuan cuisine is 麻辣 or spicy numbing. It's not really so hot as it is numbing. Your lips tingle. Most people who didn't grow up with this aren't big fans. Their 水煮肉 or 水煮鱼 comes pretty close though. Leftovers with either of those and leftover rice plus whatever make the very best 烩饭, huifan! Just boil it. We arrived there early and there were just a few other customers eating. And they left soon after. So it was just us and a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in to pick up food to go. I would consider ordering on line like that but this food doesn't hold up well over the distance to our home. Although the interior had been remodeled since our last visit, the decor is fairly stark. Combine that with the location in a strip mall on the corner of Jackson and 12th, which has seen better days, ambience isn't a real draw. However if what you want is a very good meal at reasonable prices then you should go to the Sichuanese Cuisine restaurant in Seattle. (I prefer it to the one in Bellevue.) Too bad you probably won't get to meet 陈大姐。Now that we know the food is still great, we will return.

Since it is a small establishment, I am a bit hesitant to give it three stars, but it was underwhelming compared to what I had expected after reading rave reviews. The inside was very welcoming to me; it was homey, giving similar vibes to my grandma's home/kitchen. There is very limited seating. FOOD: The food is definitely fresh and authentic, but I think I just prefer stronger, bolder flavors. The food here was very light and had a sort of healthy taste to it? Pan Fried Dumplings (3.5/5) - The fried dumpling skin had a nice texture to it, and the filling was juicy. It was okay; I didn't have strong feelings about it. Pork and Chive Dumplings with Hot and Spicy Sauce (3/5) - From the name, I was expecting a stronger flavor. The sauce was on a milder, vinegary side, so I was rather disappointed. Xiao Long Bao (4/5) - Juicy and came out piping hot (as reflected by the steam blurring my photos of it). Probably my favorite thing from what we ordered. Would've paired nicely with some ginger, but I forgot to ask if that was available. Szechuan Beef Noodle with Soup (3/5) - A cleaner, slightly herbal type of broth compared to what I am used to. SERVICE: The person helping us was nice. I don't know if they were having an off day, but it took a really long time for us to receive our food, despite it not being busy. The prices and portions here are really reasonable. Note that they only take cash or Venmo payments. TLDR// Being transparent, I found this place to be a bit underwhelming, but maybe I came in with too high of expectations. I would still recommend trying it to see if it's your cup of tea. It's always worth supporting local businesses.

They know what they want and expect. You might be taken aback if that's not you. You probably should make a reservation. Parking is available in the lot next door but you must park in spots for the restaurant. Otherwise you'll get a big fine. You have to ask for a piece of paper to put in your car on the dashboard. You will be led to a table by a no nonsense person. Each table has a place for the pot filled with whichever soup you choose to cook your food in. Ordering is done on a iPad. Straight forward, again if you know what you're doing. Otherwise just ask questions and take your time. Choosing meats is simple. Pork and lamb are my favorite. Meats come sliced very thin and rolled up and placed on wooden rings that surround the hot pot. Good luck choosing the other items. Green vegetables, tofu, noodles, turnips and dried tofu rolls to name a few. I personally stay away from the coagulated pig blood. After you type in your order, go to the self serve bar. There are plates there if you don't already have them at your table. It's near the front with various salads and other snacky items, such as peanuts. Somethings to enjoy before the hot pot is ready. You also will concoct your own dipping sauce from the several choices of ingredients available. People usually combine four or five different kinds. You can always go back later and try different combinations. Also there are small cans of sesame oil that I like to add to my sauce. A server will bring the very hot pot of soup you asked for. Let it return to a boil. Using chopsticks pick up one or two rolls of meat and wave them around in the boiling soup for just a few seconds until the meat changes color to gray. Dip it in your sauce and eat. Repeat. Gradually the soup will take on flavor from all the meat you cook. Add some of this other things you ordered. I usually cook leafy greens and noodles later. Take your time. It seems like you are eating more than you actually are. Payment is at the end because you might choose to order more food to cook.
