I've you've ever walked by this shop, you can't help but be drawn in by the strong aroma of chocolate emanating from its open doors. I'm not sure if they purposely pipe in the scent or if it's secondary to all the chocolate goodies that they're making in the back, but it does its job luring people inside. When I went on a rainy Sunday, the store was bustling with customers. The shop offers drinks (including hot chocolate, duh), bon bons, bars, sculptures, and bulk chocolate. If you want something unique you can also place a custom order. They also sell chocolate-making tools such as molds, spatulas, and flavorings. Additionally, they have chocolate-making classes if you want to make your own truffles and candies. I was looking at their bulk chocolate section, as they offer high end offerings such as Valrhona chocolate - stuff you can't get a the grocery store! Even though the shop was very busy, one of the workers stopped by and asked if I had any questions. That was really thoughtful, and she was very knowledgeable about the differences in their products. She even gave a couple of samples to help me decide what to get! I'll definitely be returning.

What a cute little chocolate shop in the town center. They have some award-winning chocolates here that I purchased, and they tasted great. My favorite thing here though is their sipping chocolate, which is really rich and thick and not like any other hot chocolate you've had (unless you're been to Europe haha). It's straight up melted chocolate, but it's not overpowering. There is definitely a reason why they serve it only starting at 4 ounces and goes up to 8 ounces. Can you believe it's only two dollars for 4 ounces? That's all you really need honestly. You can also get free samples of the sipping chocolate but make sure you go 40 minutes after opening because it does take them sometime to make it fresh so they won't have it ready if you go right at opening. Tips: they have a rewards program where they give you a stamp for every five dollars you spend. For every 20 stamps you earn, you can save up for free stuff or a discount on your purchase. They also offer classes for chocolate making and truffle making so check those out because they fill up really fast. They're currently about $65 per person with a discount for couples.

Sooo I was trying to find a particular business around Lake Forest Park and ended up instead at Chocolate Man. It was a fortunate accident. Chocolate Man featured a lot of wonderful chocolates in this specialty store. Located in a shopping center at Lake Forest Park, I had no idea there was a chocolate shop around here 'til I walked inside the center, trying to find another business I was initially here for. Though I ended up not finding the business I sought out for, I was happy to find that Chocolate Man had a location here and there was a lot to choose from for this chocoholic. Chocolate Man makes their chocolates in the back of the store. Here, you can find a wide variety of different truffles in the display case, as well as bars, chocolate-covered nuts and fruits, drink mixes, etc. You name it, they most likely have it. I was also surprised to find that the prices were so affordable here, especially compared to other specialty chocolate shops. I ended up leaving with a hazelnut chocolate bar and some truffles. Everything was solid. If you get truffles from the case they package it neatly in a gift box for you. I guess you could say I treated myself while here. Nothin' wrong with that.

We stumbled upon the Chocolate Man during an unplanned stop at Lake Forest Park. What a cute little shop it is! The entire place is chocolate - chocolate truffles, chips, supplies, gift items, and even a Death Star. It's rather fun just to be inside. Be sure to wonder through the different tables even to just admire their selections. I honed in on the truffle case with its many colorful pieces in different flavors and chose eight. Be sure to speak with the staff, so you can choose ones that you may like. While I enjoyed the ones I chose well enough, they weren't amongst the best (or even the better) of ones I have had from amongst the many chocolate shops I have had from around the world. The flavors lacked strength and emphasis. The chocolate shells are very well done; the chocolate truffle texture was a bit too soft for my taste. I like them at a stronger texture with more body, more "bite"; these were more "whipped" in texture. By Yelp ratings, it's 3 stars of "A-Ok". I debated on adding a star for their impressive collection of chocolate supplies, but since I have no personal experience with it, I decided to keep my rating at 3 stars.

This is an awesome place. Their truffles are wonderful, but you have to try the sipping chocolate Heaven in a cup.

My go to place for buying bulk chocolate. They have a great selection of premium chocolates and you can get a truffle or two while shopping.

I tried to revisit once during the holiday season, but the pastry case was cleaned out except for three cookies. I had much better luck stopping in and hanging out onsite (1/8/26). Same welcoming counter person/barista. Better available variety, and I opted for the featured special, 12oz mocha and a pain au chocolat for $9, which was a great value! There were just two others onsite. There were a lot of takeout customers, including regulars, that I observed while onsite at a nearby two top. My mocha was decent, the pain au chocolat was fresh, good flavor and texture, despite being pretty hollow. The photo I took created quite the illusion, looked like it had mass quantities of melty chocolate. Despite the bakery/cafe has an unassuming, now faded yellow exterior and well worn interior, French and Vietnamese inspired Grand Pere Bakery has quite the longevity record and staying power since March 2014. Decent detour while in Mountlake Terrace.

We tried the almond croissant and the cream tart that almost was like a crème brûlée and we really enjoyed both. Pricing was reasonable. I will definitely come back. The Home croissant was yummy even though it wasn't filled with a ton of filling like I usually like them. But the flaky pastry made everything so much better.

We got a coffee drink which was sweet but still good! We also got three different cannolis (double chocolate, mocha chip, and coffee toffee) The double chocolate was my personal favorite but the coffee toffee was also very nice. I really liked the Carmel element to the coffee toffee! The mini cannolis were just the right amount, I think a large one would've been a little too much for one sitting. After devouring them, I found a handwritten note apologizing for not having one of the flavors I ordered. I completely forgot which ones I ordered anyway as they were all fire. But I appreciated the handwritten note about the replacement. I will definitely be getting some more next time in town.

When meeting for our tasting, we went with the more extravagant 8 flavor option as my husband is a chocolate fan but I am not...this was well worth the price as we got 8 mini cakes to try which meant plenty to take home and enjoy over the weekend! Christina won us over with her flavors and enthusiasm, she provided some off the menu suggestions for mixing and matching sponge and fillings which was awesome. Ultimately, we settled on a mix of a traditional wedding cake (we were so pleased to get more than one flavor choice), along with a smaller gluten free cake and a number of sweet treats to appeal to a wide range of dietary restrictions and palates. When it came to design, Christina was very attentive to our inspiration photos/vision but also mindful of our budget as sugar past dahlias are not easy or inexpensive! When we discussed incorporating our dogs, she had a vendor lined up to make figurines and took care of the ordering process once we provided her some photos. Ultimately, she knocked it out of the park both with appearance and taste! I am hopeful that she waives her fee minimum in the event we want a one tier anniversary cake (-:
