Picked up some take out last night and can't say it's the best teriyaki I've had. Actually, not even close. The people taking my order was very nice and friendly though and I appreciated that. I ordered 2 combo meals; one with chicken and beef and the other with chicken and short ribs. The ribs were the only thing that I really enjoyed. The teriyaki beef was very dry and tough. The chicken was kind of mixed. Some pieces were better than others. We also got a kids meal with noodles and the noodles were pretty good. The salad dressing for the salad was very bland. If I ever crave noodles, I'd stop by for some yakisoba. read more

*** Don't ask for a punch card... they dont offer them anymore. Good thing I have been going there since they opened and was never told about one*** I recently changed this from 4 to 3 stars... This is based on my own experiences as well as what I have read on here from other paying customers... I highly suggest that the owner takes the hint from several of the people who pay his overhead and start being nicer to his customers. Nobody is saying that you have to play "super host" and run around talking to all of your customers, but a little smile or positive attitude goes a long way. Your operating hours are posted for a reason. If you do not want people dining in 30-45 minutes prior to closing then let people know or post a sign stating so. You seem to be ok taking the customers money 30 minutes prior to closing. Another suggestion is to close an hour earlier and you clean up on your own time for the last hour. You cant have it both way. Well, you can, but you obviously are burning some bridges. Most everything else out here for food options suck! I have worked out here for almost 10 years and used to go to Teriyaki king. They give me the creeps there and the people arent friendly. They glare at you when you want to pay by credit card. On top of that, the value isnt very good. Best teriyaki place I've found in Portland so far! We got this absolutely delicious and HUGE portion of sesame chicken and chicken teriyaki with noodles and salad for only $10.50! My fiancé and I had big appetites and we couldn't even finish all of it! The sauces taste very fresh and the noodles are cooked just right. They weren't mushy and they weren't hard or over cooked, they were perfect! We got a choice between macaroni salad or regular green salad and we chose the green salad. When you voice your concerns they never make it right and never apologize for their mistakes. Not bad. One of the things I like is their egg flower soup however they always seem to run out by 6pm and not willing to make anymore. I've been in with my family on several occasions and it it just seems if you go in for dinner 6pm or later and your wanting the soup; they maybe out. Best time to go if your wanting egg flower soup with your meal would be when they open (I would guess). Just a little disappointed. A very overdue review for a phenomenal location! My wife introduced me to Ichi 23 through her work. They frequently purchase from here for their staff meetings and brought some food to me one day. I've been hooked ever since. Great portion sizes, excellent flavors, and always served hot! The lo-mein and teriyaki chicken plates are among the best in town. My kids love the orange chicken and gyoza! The cost is a bit higher than other nearby teriyaki stops, but the portion size and quality are well worth the extra dollar or two. The chicken was amazing and low mein wasn't overcooked like at a place who features a bear in their logo and rhymes with Wanda Express. I ordered the chicken, beef gyoza combo and it was incredible. The beef had a nice char, smoke to it like it's been cooked in a cast iron skillet finished off in a smoker. I'm a big man and I only finished half of my meal. Definitely worth the money for the amount of food you get and better quality than your fast food strip mall chain teriyaki chicken joints.
