My Boss at work introduced me to Akira Sushi and it's become our new favorite sushi joint. First of all, "The Rice." Wow. So tender and flavorful. This is a Belt Type Sushi place. Some people don't like belt Sushi. Good. More for us. There were so many choices. We tried a bunch of different Sushi and only 1 thing wasn't as awesome as the rest It wasn't awful. To us it was good but not great. Not a problem because of all the other things available. We ate so much. I can't wait to eat here again. The employees were all super helpful and nice. There is a "Claw Machine" here and that's cool. I saw a dad and his kid try to win prizes. Then when it was slow. The employees all started to come out and talk in Japanese about the claw machine. I wondered what their strategies were. It made me laugh. It's a modest design inside the restaurant. Nothing fancy but clean and organized seats, more than you'd think there would be but not crowded. There are only a couple pictures on the wall. They're of samurai cat's with tattoos. I laughed out loud when I saw them. That's when I knew I had found my new favorite sushi place. We heard good things about this place so we decided to try it although it's quite far from where we live in Hillsboro. Upon entering we were seated quickly. They had a spicy mayo at each table which was nice because we usually always have to ask for it. We ordered one tea and got a whole pot. There's a lot of cool signs on the conveyor belt so you can see the different types of sushi they had if you wanted to order and a decent variety on the belt. The problem we saw was a lot of the sushi didn't have great flavor and was mostly rice; all the sushi we had was predominately rice. The spider roll that we got had jalapeños in it which was kind of strange, but the worst part was half of the pieces didn't even have any of the softshell crab or tempura. I ordered a spicy salmon handroll and it came on one of the more expensive plates but half of the handroll was basically completely empty; there was no rice or remnants of any type of fish. I will say the service was very friendly and quick but as much as we'd like to like this place we didn't feel like we got our moneys worth.
