Great ambiance. Nice service. It was very quick. They are running a 10$ special. Can't beat the quality of the food.

    Nasty round steak pho

Nastiest food I've ever eaten, everything was way too greasy all the lettuce was brown. The noodles tasted like medicine. they were very rude and said that they'll swap out the eggrolls for us but the salad rolls if we don't like the food then that's our fault but they can't give us other free food or whatever.

I have had both #1 and #2; they're both delicious. Their pricing is reasonable for the portion they serve you. ($15 compared to an actually restaurant $19 and up!) I love coming here when I need a quick eat and not the whole sit down experience of "going out for phó". I've gotten pretty good service here every time. The atmosphere is really casual; "food truck vibe" or "mini food plaza".

Chicken pho my hand is in the photo to demonstrate the size. A very small bowl four fifteen dollars.... Never coming back.

I got the grilled pork with rice and the pork wasn't even fully cooked. Would not recommend eating here.

They also have a full bar available, if you so desire. I am a regular at this restaurant, but today I ordered off the Specials board and got delectable Oreo Stuffed French toast. It was beautiful, to begin with, but the taste and textures were divine. The toast was crispy, but the filling was very flavorful, and the topping of whipped cream with Oreo crumbs made the whole meal delightful. I ended up taking the bacon and eggs home, since the French Toast was more than enough. Our server was friendly and thorough, despite it being busy. This place is great for families as well as solo diners. Ample parking in front of the restaurant. ADA accesible.

There was some black duct tape holding parts of the booth together, and since the booths aren't anchored to the floor, ours would shift whenever the people behind us moved, which was a little distracting. The food was okay, but nothing really stood out. The scrambled eggs tasted watered down and lacked flavor. The pancakes themselves were good, but they came with quite a bit more butter than necessary. We also ordered the chicken fried steak, which was tasty, though the potatoes that came with it tasted like they may have been from the day before. I might consider coming back to sit at the bar for cocktails or happy hour, but for a full meal I'm not sure I'd rush back. That said, it could have just been an off day -- there was actually a wait for tables as we were leaving, so clearly the place has a following.

The food was so good it made my day; adding tempeh to the mighty bowl with the garlic and tahini sauce is so good. 10/10 recommend. The real reason I came to write this review though is because staff is super sweet and genuine. It was my first time coming here, and I had a lot of questions about the menu to the point where I could feel myself becoming annoying (face palm). The gal taking my order was Jessi, she was so helpful, kind, knowledgeable, accommodating, and authentically friendly. I can't remember what it was that we shared a laugh about, but I walked away happy because of that type of simple interaction that restores your faith in humanity. People who have never worked in the service industry are generally clueless and walk into a restaurants like it's their first day on earth. But even with my string of annoying questions, she never once made me feel like I was being a nuisance. Whoever is in charge here you should give Jessi a raise. The food is great, but she's the reason I'll be coming back!

I ordered for pickup myself and picked up less than 10minutes After I placed the PU order. That's the whole reason I said they were "exceptionally fast" in my original review. The ambiance was cool and the service was exceptionally fast. Unfortunately both items I ordered were gross. I love chocolate and peanut butter together esp with coffee but their drink was inedible with an awful taste. Maybe they gave me almond butter by mistake. Woof I couldn't even force it down. The quesadilla was incredibly greasy and nothing like a quesadilla. The mouth feel of the walnut chorizo with the soft vegetables was weird / it felt gritty. The flavors fell as well. The only highlight was the salsa but I'm 90% sure it was salsa de welo which you can buy at a store. No one would finish my quesadillas at the table. Major miss for me. Some of the worst food I've had - sorry.

I ordered the Bo Bun Hieu ($15) -- a spicy noodle soup served with vegan beef, tofu, and round noodles, with a very generous side of cabbage, lettuce, and fresh basil to mix in. The broth was very flavourful but prohibitively salty after all. That said, the vegan beef and tofu were really nicely one, and the meal came together well. My wife got the kung pao ($15), which she said was solid but nothing tantalizing flavour-wise. My friend ordered the curry soup, but it seemed more like a curry that you pour over rice since it was served with rice and no noodles -- not sure what the deal was there. The bite I tried was tasty at least. All in all, a solid all-vegan no-frills spot for Vietnamese in the east part of the city.

Absolutely a flavor explosion inside your mouth! Next, the smoked bone marrow with chimichurri and bread was fantastic. Rich, smoky, herby, and just ridiculously good. The grilled octopus with potatoes was good, although slightly overcooked and I didn't get much of the grilled flavor. The flank steak had delicious smoky flavors and an amazing sauce, but we were so full by then that we couldn't finish it! I loved the variety here. I've had 4 years of mostly unremarkable experiences with service in Portland, but Hunter changed all that. He's thoughtful, thinking ahead, smart & an asset to the ambiance. Meanwhile 3/3 items were exceptional, starting with BRISKET EMPANADAS - buttery smoked brisket & ooey gooey fontina studded with tart little golden raisins in a crisp crust - like a cheesy Argentinian gyoza! PAN SEARED SCALLOPS (by the half-order, thank you!) are precisely seared on the outside, sweet & tender on the inside, plated over a creamy sweet corn polenta that contrasts beautifully with the acid in slightly charred, roasted tomatoes. Finally (in traditional European fashion) a FARMERS GREEN SALAD gently dressed in piquant vinegar balanced by mild goat cheese & roasted pine nuts for a smoky crunch. Chef's Counter is lovely, but the space is deceptively large and accommodating with cozy booths and larger rooms - the more, the merrier sharing tapas to go around!
