Our family has been very unhappy with the way we seem to be losing our favorite Asian restaurants here in Gresham. When a new one opens up we rush to try it, only to be disappointed with the service, the food or the atmosphere. We finally found one! It is a warm, comfy, old style neighborhood place that just happens to serve all of our favorites from the past. You can still get a great selection of combo plates (I like #6) and the tea is served hot and fresh with real tea leaves at your table. The service is very welcoming, quick and comes with a smile. I was excited to see a few good reviews for this Chinese food on the neiborhood app. As take-out I ordered a $20 combination that included "vegetable" Lomein. HA - it turned out to really be "onions" and noodles. The rest of the combination wasn't great tasting either. They lost a customer that gets lots of take-out because I won't ever return. Course they have poker machines so that is where they'll make money and not care about inedible food. read more

After seeing a lot of good reviews on Next Door, we decided to give this place a try based on the recommendations. The food is fairly typical Chinese food, but it tastes much fresher than many places and the portions are absolutely huge. The staff are very friendly and appreciate new customers. Restaurants are really struggling in our current economy. We will try to go back and support them in the near future. The restaurant is located in a quiet nondescript shopping plaza with a decent number of parking spots. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms. I highly recommend. read more

Mr Chen's is superb!! Went there based mainly on the Facebook Nextdoor app reviews. I usually take these reviews with grain of salt, BUT, this place is fantastic!! Foods so good, the waitress was awesome (sorry, didn't get her name) but she's running the whole place on her own, except the cooking staff.. Oh, and after a yummy meal, why not drop a few dollars in the machines in the back room and test your luck!! We will be back!!! read more

Mr. Chen's Chinese Restaurant created quite the spread of food for my wife's birthday. The 10 people attending all rave about the food. It was great to try some items the 2 of us usually do not order, but may in the future. There was a common comment among all, that the hot mustard for the BBQ Pork was legit!! Nasal passages were cleared!!! The Honey Pineapple Chicken was very tasty, if you like sweet. The 2 orders of General Tsao's chicken were the first of the entrees finished off. Kung Pao Chicken was great as usual and the Ginger Beef had a wonderful lingering ginger flavor. The to-go Sweet & Sour Chicken was a great choice with the sauce on the side for the littles (2 & 4 year olds) loved that as chicken nuggets with tasty dipping sauce. They made 1 item for my son in-law that was not even on the menu, spelling is wrong but Beef Chow Fun-Dry was really good as well. Spring rolls were also very crisp and tasty, also as usual. For about the same cost as a pizza feed, getting great Chinese food was a welcome and great choice. I will keep going back and supporting this family business. read more

Tonite we ordered 1 General TSO's w/fried rice and a Sesame chicken w/white rice. The general TSO's had the rice with the chicken in the same container. The sesame chicken was in a container by its self and a container of white rice on side. Pretty disappointed, in the past there would be leftovers. Not this time. The MarFar chicken, pork fried rice, vegetable lo mein, fried shrimp were extremely yummy. All of us had tons of leftovers. Everything was affordable and they have lunch specials as well. I had Gen Tso's tofu. The tofu was magnificent, crunchiest I've ever had. Could have done with some veggies in it, although I know it usually doesn't come with veggies. Very hearty portion. It was a bit expensive, but everything was very good. The egg flower soup was also excellent. The four star review was because it felt a bit odd in there. I don't know why. read more
