I'm more of a traditional teriyaki chicken person but the Spicy Chicken is also good if you like a creamy Sriracha sauce. Rice was cooked well and it's the shorter grain type. This location's rice is more plump and it soaked the teriyaki sauce well--very underrated aspect of their teriyaki chicken. Salad and Gyoza were solid too. Overall, pretty good quality meal with great value for the amount of food. Food comes out mad quick and service was great. I did notice regulars were on a first-name basis with FOH so it's a good sign folks frequent this joint. Ever since Roxy's Grill opened up in Happy Valley I've been going there once every few weeks for the past few years. For as much as i love Roxy's food, I couldn't handle the constant mistakes, and the waits. I swore to never return to the HV Roxy's again when I informed them that my order was incorrect and they blamed me for not checking the cash register to ensure order accuracy and was not receptive to fixing that problem for me. I'm glad I made that decision not to return to Roxy's as it forced me to discover Soy Grill as it's replacement. I love the food here and I love how fast the food is here despite being made to order. When the food is ready, instead of calling out a number, he'll make eye contact or personally walk up to you to give you your order. I've been here a handful of times and rotate between ordering #1/2, depending on if I want it spicy or not, with brown rice substitute. The spicy sauce is very flavorful. The meat was cooked perfectly and the rice was great. They do include a salad which makes up a third of the plate. It's just lettuce a few strips of carrot and ranch dressing. I ordered a side Kim chee and was told there was no more. As we dined the chef came to our table and handed me a small cup of Kim chee at no charge. We found that touching as well as generous. The foot traffic kept the restaurant busy with take-out orders. Our impression as we ate and watched folks pickup their order was that Soy Teriyaki has a decent percentage of return customers which led us to speculate that the restaurant is managed well, food quantity and quality is above average, and the customer service is first rate. The absolute best teriyaki joint I've ever been to. I used to live nearby and after moving 3 hours away, I still think of it. It has become a must that I stop there anytime I pass through of visit the area. If they gave out Michelin stars for teriyaki lunch joints, this place would have one. They are amazingly consistent, which is one of the most difficult things to do with food service. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The sauce that they put on the spicy chicken is so good, that we buy quart squeeze bottles of it when we visit so that we can replicate the flavor at home. As a bonus, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly and service is always fast. If every teriyaki place was as good as this one, I'd eat teriyaki more than I should. Love this place! read more
