The staff working said she would ask the owner and we were eventually charged the menu price listed since this was not disclosed when we ordered or before getting our bill, but just beware. Also, just know that asking for sriracha is not like asking for soy sauce or salt. A tablespoon of Sriracha is considered a $2 side dish. I didn't realize it was a menu item when I asked for it. So just keep an eye out and ask what's included in your meal and what's considered a separate menu item.

When the mall renovated its food court area to be more upscale, this mom-and-pop stall shuttered for good. I decided to try Yihi Japan out. There were three men behind the counter. I was looking at the menu and one of them gave me a chicken morsel smothered in some sweet honey sauce on a toothpick. The chicken was yummy and the light batter around it was delicious. The sauce was too sweet for my liking, but it did have some tang to it that I enjoyed. I am a teriyaki person. The special was beef and chicken teriyaki for $12.59. I decided to splurge and got the beef and shrimp teriyaki with veggies on fried rice for $12.99. The three men were not Japanese. They were Latinos. Never judge a book by its cover. I had yummy pizza in Stockholm several years back. The man who made it was Chinese. I also got a fountain drink with my meal. I ordered a Diet Pepsi. I paid with a credit card. I got my drink first and sipped it as I waited. It was icy cold and hit the spot. One of the men was training another guy at the grill. I waited and watched. He asked if I wanted veggies, including mushrooms. Yes, please! I saw my food get carefully placed in my styrofoam container. Sadly, both my drink and this container were styrofoam. I hope that changes down the road. I let the man who had prepared my food know that he did a great job. He smiled, obviously proud of his accomplishment. I placed my drink on the tray with my food and headed to a table at the food court to chow down. There is wifi available, but it is spotty. It was enough for me to play a game on my phone as I ate. My beef and shrimp teriyaki was yummy. The beef was done perfectly. I loved the mushrooms, broccoli, and other veggies that came with my meal. The shrimp was also done perfectly. They weren't rubbery at all. The sodium level was rather high in the teriyaki sauce and proteins, though. I wish that it wasn't so salty. It became a bit of a vicious cycle to drink more because I was thirsty. Luckily, my feet didn't swell up! Yihi Japan is a nice addition to the food court. A&W has always been there, but it's nice to order food that isn't strictly labelled American at this food court. (21)

Lovely! It was extremely busy when my boyfriend and I went here, but they still managed to get us seats promptly. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chefs make the sushi, actually, it was extremely interesting! Maybe not everyone's ideal but it was okay with me. Our server was very sweet, she checked in with us often enough that I never felt antsy or as if we lacked anything, but it also didn't feel like she was hovering over us constantly as we ate. We tried a variety, but my favorite roll was the love roll. The mango sounded somewhat unappetizing at first, but they made it work very well! It was subtle yet noticeable and brought out the sweetness in the crab. We wrapped up dinner with some green tea ice cream to share! I could've gone for less whipped cream, but the ice cream was so good that I wasn't too dissatisfied. Overall, great place, especially for the price. I go at least once a month with my family and I've never had a bad experience here. Truly one of the best sushi restaurants in Minnesota. Everything on the menu here is fantastic but I highly recommend the happy roll and the spicy crab salad. Service is great here and there's never too long of a wait. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. They also have all you can eat sushi! There's a lot to choose from on this menu, but it really depends on how hungry you are. For some people it could be too much. Sushi is my favorite food by far and I've traveled to many cities, states, and even countries that's sushi didn't compare to this. Out of all the restaurants in this town, I'd definitely suggest this one first. Really great quality, and it exceeds the standards of Rochester. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Rochester and my favorite sushi restaurant in Rochester. The fish was really fresh and the sushi tasted great. The Beef hibachi was so good and I highly recommend ordering that. The sauce was excellent and the veggies were fresh. The meat was extremely tender. I love sushi and usually get mine from the Cities. I decided to try Ichi after some friends recommended it but I was a little disappointed. They do have a lot of different rolls and an all-you-can-eat sushi meal, but I felt the flavor was lacking. My husband and I ordered 5 rolls. They were beautifully prepared and presented but we really only felt one of them tasted good. The others were just okay. I LOVED the atmosphere of the place with dim lighting, yet you could see just fine, and the art work it had was beautiful! I also just love how they do their bento box's, way cute AND delicious! Ichi Tokyo has GREAT sushi rolls! We go there all the time for the rolls, my favorite is shrimp tempura and many of the other specialty rolls! Definitely have to get the fried rice with yum yum sauce on the side.... SO GOOD! The staff is always super friendly and helpful with the menu if needed!
