I was visiting family here a few weeks ago, so I wanted to go to a place I have visited multiple times: Ichiban. My brother tagged along, and upon arriving, it was not very busy for what was a Tuesday night. Our waitress was kind but rushed us just a little bit. I ordered a Hawaiian roll and vegetable fried rice. The Hawaiian role was great, but I wish the pieces were smaller (and maybe they could provide 12 smaller pieces instead of 10 big ones). It's still my favorite roll on the menu regardless, and I order it basically every time I go. The vegetable fried rice, on the other hand, is the best I've ever had! That's literally no exaggeration. Living in Dallas, the only fried rice that comes close is from Hibiki (which is amazing) and even then their fried rice is not quite as good as Ichiban. Who knew small-town fried rice would be hittin? To end off the meal, we had mochi ice cream (which my brother wanted). Although I don't eat that often, I did enjoy it as an infrequent dessert. To go off topic, the food is actually pretty cheap. If I remember correctly, my fried rice was less than $12 which is amazing because the portion size is a meal and was leftovers for me in my case! Overall, this is a place I will definitely return to when I go back to Louisiana! Ichiban has been a favorite of mine (and my mom's) growing up, and I'm so glad to see that their food still has the same delicious taste from 2010 when I lived there. Service was good but the place looked dead and empty. The lighting made the place look nasty. Now dont get me wrong they have some amazing stuff on the menu but the prices are ridiculous I through Osaka was expensive but compared to this it's way to expensive. Terrible. We ordered steak, shrimp, and lobster and the chef cooked it all with the same sweet sauce. The chef was sloppy and throwing food around everywhere even on my shirt! We ordered wine and they tried convincing us that the bottle they brought was the same as what we ordered just with a different name.. He was disgusting with how he cooked and the food was trash. By far the best hibachi experience ever. The service was amazing. The hostess gave use rice because my daughter woke up cranky from her nap, I never seen a hibachi place give SOOO MUCH FOOD! Ended up here Christmas Eve since not much else was open. We were skeptical at first from some of the previous reviews but ended up loving it! We have been to many hibachi places before. The clear soup here was one of our favorites. It was nice that you get both noodles and fried rice with the hibachi so that you got to try more items. Staff was friendly and the cook was entertaining. Best part of the whole meal is that they serve yum yum sauce! I'm sure we will be back the next time we are in town. read more

No green onion in the egg fried rice and too little garlic. The most disappointing was they use the same sauce on everything so everything ends up tasting the same. This was a quick lunch trip for my daughters and myself. We did not sit at the hibachi, but the food was GREAT! We ordered off the lunch menu and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was and the amount of food for the price was satisifing as well. Ridiculously good hibachi. Some of the best I've ever had. Specifically the best fried rice. And good sushi as well.

Most of the Sushi places in Houma are kind of blend in together. This one is no better and is probably worse than the others. Some of my friends love the place, but to me it is the same food at a slightly higher cost and wait. Our party waited over an hour one time, which is long for sushi in Houma. I would have been just as happy going two doors down for the same food and a similar price. But it wasn't bad. We had hibachi until the wee hours of the night. read more

This was my first time dinning here. The service was amazing. We were seated quickly. Our waiter was friendly: asked us if we had questions about the menu, wasn't overbearing at all, had amazing timing in bringing out the salad & soup, then main course and offering drink refills. The food was really good and the presentation was beautiful. The sushi was tasty, as was the ginger dressing on the salad. Can tell it's a family run establishment and makes the atmosphere comfortable I didn't finish everything and took the rest to go where the waiter offered to box it up for me. Returned to hotel room and wanted a snack and was impressed by care and presentation here as well (see picture) Decor :Pretty typical per your sushi/hibachi establishment. Nice and clean. Food: 3.5/5 Nothing here will blow your mind. Prices are higher than some but portions completely match the price, very sizeable rolls. Ordered 3 rolls (Sweet Heart, Godzilla, American Dream) Didn't realize I ordered so much fried so not as colorful. Presentation was fine (see picture) , taste wise each was unique, however fish a tad chewy and not as fresh, eel in the one roll was bland. Overall, not bad. While I plan to try the others in the area on my return visit they have set the bar and possible no others may pan out and I will return to Ichiban as my go-to when in town. read more

First I was sat at a table and didn't receive service for 45 minutes. When I approached the manager, she shrugged me off. I then went to the man who sat me and my two friends, he all of a sudden became busy. Thank god a nice woman asked what our problem was. The ambiance of the place is lively if your in the main dining area. If your off the side it gives very... closed off vibe. I seen two groups involving a person of color, including me, have been placed in this small side room away from the main dining area. I do not know of it was how "busy" (keep in mind we called ahead and asked if there was a wait and we're told no) they are or if there really were no places in the main dining area but I digress. Probably one of the better sushi restaurants in Houma in my opinion. Since I frequent this area a few times a year for work, I've tried Samurai Dragon (ok, but I don't like the fact that they put mayonaise on their rolls....), Osaka (ok) and Ichiban (pretty good). We seem to always return to eat at Ichiban every single time we come back to this area. I haven't tried the Hibachi grill, just sushi each time. Tried a lot of different rolls including the lobster one (they serve it in a martini glass -- pretty expensive but pretty good), and the typical rolls. My co workers have tried the sashimi platter...that is pretty expensive but they've all said that it's pretty fresh and yummy. This last time I tried the Nebayaki (sp?) Udon Noodles -- I did not enjoy it at all. It;s probably not Ichiban, it's prob just the taste of the broth in general that I did not like. Service has been generally good each time I've been here. When they first opened I did have bad service (they completely forgot the roll I ordered even though I kept asking about it about 3 times so I was the only one that didn't get my meal!) -- but since I've been back, I've never had another issue like that. Tempura Ice cream is pretty good as well! Overall, this is a good sushi restaurant to go to in this area of Louisiana. Will surely be back the next time I head over to this area again! read more

I'd like to put this right up top in this rewiew....if you're visiting the area and need to find a sushi restaurant....please stop looking and go here...and that's an order! Just picked up food there and was VERY disappointed in their COVID-19 precautions. There was a group of about 15-20 women ALL without masks standing in the front of the restaurant although the statewide mandate in still in place. There is a sign stating that parties of 6 or more must wait outside but if they're not enforcing that what's the point? If you are Vegan or even vegetarian you will not find any options here. Even their vegetables with fried tofu is cooked with chicken broth. They told me they can cook me some veggies in water and salt and pepper! What?? You have a FULL chef's kitchen in a restaurant and that's the best you can do? This was the first time eating here. I ordered the Houma roll and crunchy roll. I wasn't able to order hibachi entrees since we didnt sit at the hibachi show tables. My Houma roll had a terrible aftertaste. The rest of the meal was pleasant but not my favorite place to eat sushi. read more

I have to so say I've been here multiple times and it is usually a decent dining experience. Tonight, I can not say that. My wife and I dined at their hibachi table and all was good until the chef came out. He was pouring sauces out to everyone and asked if anyone liked ginger, I said I did, he started shaking it, and I mean shaking it like a can of paint! Top comes off, contents of the ENTIRE 32 oz. Drip cup went all over the table, grill, plates, drinks , and clothes. The smoke and smell from the burnt ginger caking on the grill was filling the hibachi area because the hood vent over top of the grill was not on. They got us fresh drinks, changed out the plates and asked us if we had any on us. When we said we did they just apologized more. I asked for a drink menu so I could get a drink from the bar. It took her 15 minutes plus me having to remind the waitress 3 times for her to bring one to the table. Our appetizer came out at the beginning of round 2 of our table service. We finished it and the plate sat, empty, in front of my wife for a WHILE. The server even acknowledged the empty plate and continued to pick up other dirty plates for multiple trips to the table. I asked for chop sticks. She brought them 10 minutes later saying she forgot I asked for them. As if this wasn't enough, the waitress was taking the sushi plate away from the woman sitting next to me, turned around and dropped used utensils, napkins, and lemon peels on to my head, on my plate, and in my lap. I had expressed to the waitress that I wasn't sure what else could go wrong, she said she felt terrible and left. She came back and said she would discount the ticket. When the bill came she told me that she didnt have the authority to do anything but her manager was "LIKE SUUUPER BUSY" and just told her to take my $6 cocktail off the bill. I was not and am not expressing my concern to get compensation, but I feel like if you go to ANY dining establishment, and get covered in food and utensils that have been INSIDE STRANGERS MOUTHS, you should at least hear what the manager has to say! The manager couldn't even show face to a table of 8 people who were covered in ginger sauce??? I was amazed by the lack of concern to the patrons of their restaurant. Service aside, food was sub par....you could tell the hibachi chef was either new, nervous, or embarrassed. He burt A LOT of the food, he had raw chicken touching raw steak many times while cooking it, and the noodles were peppered with burnt chunks from the grill leaving them inedible.(and that was according to the whole table) I will say my scallops were pretty good....but I don't think good enough to make up for the evening... read more

Arrived at 2:15pm only to be told it's over, the fact that I called and was told it was still available and then told that it was now dinner 30 mins early cause they don't want to sit us at a new table. The air conditioner was broken and one of my sushi rolls was odd tasting. I asked the waiters to not box that roll. She told the manager that I did not like the roll. The manager came over to our table to "let me know" that he tasted my roll and nothing was wrong with it. I was upset that he addressed my request to not include the roll in a to go box as a "attempt" to get the roll off my bill. I was going to pay for the roll with no problem. poor customer service!!!! we reserved for a party of 10. this was for a suprise birthday dinner by the way. the entire group was present with the exception of myself and the guest of honor. once we arrived, no one came to check on us and when the young lady did come to take our drink order, she had a majoir attitude, smacking her lips and being very disrespectful. after giving the drink order, still no one and no drinks. no customer service at all! so we decided to leave. as we prepared to leave, i asked to speak with the manager/owner, she immediately told us we can go because we were'nt going to curse her employees(we are still waiting to find our who they said did it) the young lady said she never said anything about anyone cursing, but that was what we were told. on top of that as i tried to explain and keep things ammicable, i was told we could leave and they didn't need our money... wow!!!!! never again!!!!!!! read more
