This is a well-decorated Asian restaurant with great service, and quick cooking preparations. The establishment itself is pretty large, and has separate dining rooms, in the event you reserve for a special/private event. I ordered from the "all you can eat" portion of the menu (which is a pretty large variety to choose from, and is not limited to just sushi). You pay one price for an adult ($33.99 on a Sunday), and can order as many items and servings as you'd like, from the aforementioned menu. In my opinion, this was a great deal, especially for the quality and quickness of the food! Because of the above, I was able to try 5 different types of sushi rolls (you can choose either 4 pieces, or 8 pieces), and I'd recommend 4 pieces so you could try just about any/everything. There are also photos on the menu to help you decide, if you're a visual person. Here's what I had: Edamame (the Cajun + garlic seasoned version, which was $1 more) - it was properly seasoned and super good! The gyozo/dumplings were good too; I'd recommend ordering a side of teriyaki sauce, as it only comes with a peanut-type sauce. The shrimp fried rice was also pretty good, and comes in a smaller portion. As for the sushi rolls, they were all delicious, but I'll rank them in order of my favorite (all of them were speciality rolls) #1 Kiss Me roll - it was so good (the best sushi roll out of all 5 I tried) that I forgot to take a photo! This one comes in pieces of 5, and the pieces are even thicker/bigger than the other rolls. #2 Fleur-di-lis sushi roll - loved the shredded crab meat that was layered across the top. #3 Godzilla sushi roll - loved the shrimp tempura within, and the sauce that was drizzled on top. #4 Lion King sushi roll - this was pretty good as well, and had the perfect amount of sauce layered across the top. #5 Spider sushi roll - another good one, and the avocado definitely stood out the most (if you're a big fan of it). read more

Sushi nami restored my hope in sushi in New Orleans. as seated in 10-15 minutes on a Friday night table of 3. Sushi quality was pretty good! I'm happy they had sashimi options because their nigiri is pretty heavy on the rice, but the salmon cheese was by far our favorite. My favorite sashimi was yellow tail. The scallop was interesting looking but still tasted like scallop. I really liked the fried calamari too. Too bad it was no meat Friday because I wanted to try the karaage. I really love coming here for lunch! The lunch buffet is very reasonably priced, and honestly, the food is so savory and delicious that it's worth every penny. The Miso Soup is a personal favorite, and the teriyaki protein options are phenomenal. I love how simple and clean the teriyaki flavors are; it makes the dish taste high-quality and consistent every time I visit. I also tried a variety of their sushi rolls, and almost all of them were delicious! The only exception was a fried roll (I believe it was tuna or salmon) that didn't quite hit the mark for me--it wasn't as smooth a flavor as the others. This is the first sushi place in New Orleans that really impressed me. I love the decor of the restaurant; it has a nice cherry blossom aesthetic. The sushi itself was really good. The nigiri has a good presentation and flavor, especially the spicy tuna. As a nigiri lover I was impressed with the freshness and good flavor. The smoked salmon nigiri was buttery and flavorful. Yes I'm gate keeping her name :) The sushi here is tasty and fresh! I think the price point is pretty affordable for all you can eat sushi. There is also an event room space that has karaoke. I haven't utilized that amenity yet, but I could see it being a future option. It's not often I can offer my highest praise to an all you can eat restaurant but Sushi Nami is simply AWESOME! Each dish is prepared by artisans that see to it that each dish looks like artwork. I have had many great meals there and they are happy to keep the dishes coming until you are satisfied. I've had meals at nobu and local sushi places that run 5X the price of Sushi Nami but truly, the difference is negligible. Walking in made me think of something in Vegas/so festive! When we arrived it wasnt busy at all but there was a party in the event room across the way. Our waitress Lacy was super sweet and made sure we understood exactly how the AYCE situation worked. The options were great and although some things took longer because of the party-the waitress was very apologetic & made sure to check on things that seemed to be taking too long. As for the sushi, I feel like each time I come it's a different experience. Half the time, the sushi has been so fresh and amazing and the other half it's mid. I would say this is a good spot to come if you're looking to feast and the fried Oreos were bomb (but an extra fee). Included with the AYCE is your first domestic beer/house wine/saki on the house. Considering it was AYCE, I was surprised that it was full sushi rolls. You really cannot beat it for $34! I went on the early side of the dinner service and they weren't too busy, but when I left the lobby was full of people waiting on a table. Despite the full restaurant, it wasn't very noisy. What a fun tasty place!!! And it has elevators so really accesible for anyone with mobility issues (which is now becoming part of my reviews) The food is tasty!!! The sushi excellent! We went there for a party and had the all you can eat! Not sure I needed the all you can eat since the rolls are a very healthy portion. We went back again and order a la carte, again with good results ( although I did not like the steamed shumai this time). The drinks were tasty and the overall presentation was nice. As for the ambiance I love the size of the restaurant. The space can easily acomódate large parties but is equally good if you just go on a date. All staff is well trained and attentive. The whole entrance and the staircase are adorned in cherry blossoms, there's also a massive wall art of a Geisha. We had to wait 40 minutes for a table. In the meantime we had some drinks at the bar. Sushi Nami is pretty big. There are cherry blossoms across the ceiling. Their menu is broad, offering an illustration of every item. You can also have the Al a Carte menu, which are individually priced items. The cost per person for all you can eat sushi is $33.99. At Sushi Nami your first drink, whether it's Saki, house wine or beer, are included with the all you can eat menu. We first started with soup and the seaweed salad. Each of the rolls of sushi arrived on its own serving dish. With the exception of the Bugs Bunny roll, which was essentially all lettuce, all of the rolls were excellent. They were all flavorful, fresh and so colorful! Summer Roll was one of my favorites. If you're looking for fresh, tasty sushi while in Metairie, LA, look no further than Sushi Nami. read more
