Stopped in here to grab a bite while waiting for a parade to begin. Great choice. My waitress Brooke was courteous. I had several nigiri, the tummy yellowtail, and the sashimi sampler, along with the vegetable medley. Everything was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the Haiku Zero mocktail which I highly recommend.

Undoubtedly one of the best sushi spots I've been to. Everything was so fresh. Went twice in a week we loved it so much. Shout out to our server Alexis, she rocked!

A friend had a birthday celebration here and this was the perfect spot to celebrate with a group of friends. We had a reserved area at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive! Tuesday is all night happy hour and the $6 lemon drops and combo were delicious. The bartender made a shot I believe its called "The Hunk" which was really good. I tried the fries and hash both of which were delicious. I also had a shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna roll which were great. I'd like to go back try other rolls and entrees!

High quality fish that literally melts in your mouth. It feels like it's more on the fine dining side, but the prices were reasonable especially if you go during their specials on Tuesday, which is what we did. It was $7 for a tsunami roll and $1.25 per sashimi/nigiri. If you want sushi in New Orleans this is a good pick.

We sat at the bar and received excellent service. Drinks were strong and replenished quickly. Our rolls were delicious. I'm not sure their names since my husband ordered them for us. If you go and they have the dorito roll on special - Get it! So good! I'm still thinking about it!!! Always a good time with great service and fresh sushi at Tsunami. Highly Recommend! They also have a great happy hour during the week! Check this place out for great sushi! You won't be disappointed!

Very cute place! Stumbled upon this place on yelp and I had to give it a try! I went during a weekday so it wasn't busy. The server was great and very attentive. He checked on us frequently which is always a plus. Chicken Torikata, scallops , smoke salt escolar, mushashi roll and another roll (forgot the name). Everything was so fresh! One thing I hate is going to a susho restaurant and all the sushi tasting exactly the same. This place is a great place for lunch or dinner. Can't wait to til my next visit.

Tsunami is always a good lunch spot for me when downtown. Host, bartenders are always friendly. They' are attentive, knowledgeable about the menus and make great recommendations. Large bar area and restaurant space. Solid food and drinks. Would recommend.

I have been to the Tsunami in Lafayette and I really enjoyed it. It is quaint and the sushi is fresh. We came here on a Saturday night in Feb and it was not as quaint, but very spacious - probably a great place for groups. We ordered a few different types of sushi and they all came out super fresh and good. The dumplings were cripsy and I loved the sauce. The service was great, very attentive and kept my water full. The pricing was on the higher side. The parking is off street or you can park in the Pan Am building. Overall experience was good but not the best sushi in the city.

Stopped in for a quick dinner since it was conveniently located next to our hotel. The interior is stunning and romantic, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the ambiance. The miso soup had an overpowering flavor that made it overly salty. The Thai "spaghetti" (a stir-fried noodle dish) was underwhelming--no beef available as an add-on, and the dish itself felt like a jumble of mixed vegetables with lackluster presentation. The yuzu albacore tuna tasted fresh, though the yuzu flavor could have been more pronounced, while the dynamite roll was just average. Service was attentive, and while this spot offers a pleasant atmosphere and convenient location, it's not the place to go if you're looking for authentic, high quality sushi.

It was alright. The sushi was kind of a miss. Loved the edamame and the miso soup though. Our server was nice. I probably should've tried things besides just the sushi (the other two are appetizers not real dinner items).

Been a tsunami fan forever. Sushi is always so fresh. Service is great. It's a nice space located downtown New Orleans. They get busy on weekends so make a reservation or expect to try and snag a bar seat. My most recent visit was an early dinner during happy hour. They have great deals on drinks, 25% off all rolls 10 dollars and under, and deals on ngiri and sashimi. I was able to have a nice little dinner for a great price. Will continue to keep coming back!!

Located on the ground floor of the PanAm Building in the CBD, this restaurant is part of a small local chain with three other locations in Louisiana. The menu is extensive, offering a wide range of options. During our visit, we sampled several types of sushi and nigiri, fried rice, cocktails, and sake (made in La.!). Service left something to be desired, and overall, the experience was average--nothing stood out as particularly memorable. The total cost for two people, including tip, was $148.

This is a nice elegantly styled restaurant. There sushi was a standout that we had to go twice! Sushi was very good and the sashimi is top notch! Would definitely come back again for the quality and the great service.

Do they still charge an extra almost 5% credit card fee? That is so absurd, enough to just say funk dat. Normal restaurants don't do this, it's a cost of doing business. Like utilities.

4% - wow! I didn't even notice that when I paid the check. I kept all my receipts from our trip to NOLA so I just checked. It was a 4% Debit/No Cash Fee and 10.25% sales tax. No wonder I came home so broke lol.

    Ok for kids?

    Yes it's a relaxed environment

The presentation of the food came was amazing. We ordered the linguine and added meatballs, which was well worth it. We also ordered the shrimp & grits, which included Brussels sprouts. Boy, it was sure nice to get some vegetables in my stomach after eating all that yummy fried food during our stay! All in all, both dishes were delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. I always appreciate the staff's efforts by making simply making eye contact and smiling (which they did). Seems trivial but I think those small things says a lot about a business. I would recommend this restaurant even if you are not a guest of the hotel.

The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. I think this is a fine place if you're looking for a photogenic night out drinking with a group of friends. Could be really cute for brunch!

My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined.
