We have been here for lunch several times and once for dinner. We have thoroughly enjoyed our meals here, though have to admit we have limited them to the bento boxes. Service has been uneven but generally good. Our only complaint would be that they need to work on the acoustics, as it can be quite noisy and difficult for dinner conversation. Still, we are happy this restaurant is here in Prunedale and would recommend it for lunch, dinner, or take out. read more

Usually go to Sushi in Watsonville but live in Prunedale & decided to try out this place as I was not feeling well to drive all the way to Watsonville. I timed it to get there when they opened & walked in at 11:03. The waitress said "oh, sorry we aren't open" me: "but it's 11:03 & the sign outside says you open at 11" her: "yeah sorry not open" ok... should I wait outside until you call me in? I have been coming here for a while now and the food was vary good but now it's seems like it been going down hill from there. I heard they just got a new owner so I was going to see if the food was still the same. I had dinner with my girlfriend and I have to say the service was still good but the food on the other hand I got to say I was vary vary disappointed. Let's start off by saying I like sushi and find it really delicious and fulfilling. My order is usually simple I don't like raw fish and always request them to be fully cooked and no cream cheese in my rolls. When I order my food the server told me that it might take a while due to my request and I was ok with that. The server brought out our drinks and soups first. We enjoyed the service but the time go lengthy and I started to notice it's been about 45-50 minute that we have been waiting. We have notice people who have came in after us had been served and were leaving before we received our meal. The server came back and asked us if we wanted the check and I responded we have not received our meal yet and she said and she will check on and told us it's being prepared right now. When we finally got our meal not only was it mixed up but it was completely wrong. I had asked that the fish to be fully cooked and it came came out raw and there was cream cheese in one of my rolls. I asked the server if they wrote my order wrong and she told me that they wrote it exactly how I wanted my order. And when I requested the meal to be sent back to be corrected the server told me that if she bring the food back that the cook will yell at her. I felt displeased at this moment that a cook would yell at their server because of their mistake. I did not want to have the meal sent back for the sake of the server well being. She offer to have another roll made and I accepted the offer for the roll to be made correctly. But yet again as the rolls came out and now the ingredients in the roll were not fresh the avocado was brown already and I was pretty disgusted and told them about it and they told me they would discount my meal and I accepted that offer and told them I'm not going to eat the roll. As the check came to us I read the receipt and did not see the discount and I told the server about it and they said they will add it. I waited about another 5 minute and they didn't come back so I walk to the front to pay and they told me that the manager/cook was not going to discount the our meals. I will not be returning to this establishment anymore I fell like waiting 1 hour for a meal that is incorrect and then not fixing them is ridiculous and then yelling at your servers because the cook messes up the order is not ethical or professional. If you make a mistake own up to is and server your customers. I would rather go into salinas now out of my was to get better service and food quality than this place. Excellent sushi, but the service is terrible. Don't go here if you are in a hurry or if you don't have a lot of patience. However, the sushi is always worth the frustration with the service. Two servers is not enough, just getting someone to bus tables would help. read more

I don't know how this has such high ratings. I eat a lot of sushi and Japanese food, and some of this we just didn't eat. The salad was just lettuce and dressing that tasted like someone dumped cinnamon all over it. The miso soup was good, the average. The rolls however were lacking. We don't eat salmon, so the choices were minimal. We chose two rolls and one nigiri. I've never seen Shiro Maguro so pink, and then the chef covered it with some kind of red spicy sauce when we requested garlic and scallions. Service was friendly, but omg so slow! We took our sushi to go since we had to wait so long. We didn't even eat all of our small order. We won't be back, two stars is generous. I bet you will have a better experience at a slow hour and if you like salmon. read more

This place is fairly new and has been improving since opening. The soft shell crab app is something I could just keep ordering until I get full. The Prunedale roll is almost a must (you are there), the Cadillac roll is great. You just don't expect great Japanese in Prunedale but, guess what, it's there. read more

I'm not a Sushi person so my experience here is limited. It has been pretty popular since it went in and the sushi lovers in the area seem to like it. I have only stopped in when I get a craving for tempura vegetables and those are very good here. I also got terriyaki chicken which was fine. read more

The food is great, the service is good once you've sat down. My biggest problem is trying to place a to-go order. The wait-staff regularly turn off the phone when it gets busy (they've told me this more than once), which is unfair to the business owner and the hard-working chefs. To the owner and Francisco-san: Fire the staff that are refusing customers by turning off the phone ringer. You've lost a ton of business, (like mine tonight), and at least 4-5 other nights. Called about 15 times over the past hour, just rings and rings until the message "answering system off", then hangs up. Sad. read more
