A snappy and impatient staffer mutated an order for 2 cookies into one for 6, nonchalantly presenting a $15 total. Normally this situation would be handled maturely by both sides (maybe even with a laugh), but instead she spat back 'you asked for 3 of each, loud and clear', so I felt a bit unwelcome. Customer service of even the mediocre variety would've been 'Oh, I heard / thought you said __' and maybe even a 'sorry', even if I *had* in fact uttered that. The New Jersey Cookie reminds you that Jersey has always had an understandable inferiority complex, boasting excellence it never delivers. This and the Chocolate Oatmeal cookie (half the diameter and twice the thickness- TWSS - and really dense in a not-good way) diluted the Robicelli name. Run-of-the-mill coffee shop situated in one of NYC's trendiest neighborhoods. I usually go to this coffee shop out of convenience upon leaving the Broadway-Lafayette stop to go shopping in SoHo. I wouldn't go out of my way to get coffee here unless I am meeting up with another Iger (Instagram user) or friend. The drip coffee and pastries are meh. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice lighting from big windows that open up to the streets of passerby. The decor got to me a little - it started a conversation though! Too much going on. You would think that in one of the more trendier neighborhoods they would embrace a clean/sleek/minimalist vibe to tie into their surroundings. Amongst the various crowded cafes of soho, iconic cafe is a nice place where seating will almost always be guaranteed. This is nice if you need a place to sit, but there is probably a reason why it's so empty compared to other local shops. I came here during my lunch break and was eyeing a nice, sweet snack with a tall cup of hot apple cider. The chocolate chip muffins looked deceptively promising in the eerily lit display case. I ordered one, and with high hopes bit into it only to be met with the most stale tasting baked good I have ever devoured in nyc. The muffin tasted like the last leftover muffin in a store bought pack of 6 that's been sitting out on a counter for several days that gets eaten only out of desperation. I took a few more bites more out of pity than anything to see if there was some goodness in there but there was none. Brand new coffee shop that opened in the soho /Bowery area. You immediately notice the minimalist decor. If you're looking out for this place note that there is no sign. They were giving away free coffee and cookies. Let me tell you they were both very delicious! In a neighborhood full of options for coffee this place will do well. First time experience: Nice open environment with a great selection of unique and tasty pastries and treats. They have a nice selection of hot tea. I had a chai tea and an almond croissant, both of which were very good. Well priced and staff was friendly. One thing I did not like is how small it is. If you are looking for somewhere to sit down and chill this might not be the place. This place is a very cute cafe. It has a very modern-rustic-urban-farm feel to the place. The cashier was very patient and friendly in helping me when I was being really indecisive. I'm a fan of pumpkin and she suggested that I try the pumpkin cream cheese, which I was hesitant about, but when I had it with my plain bagel it was delicious. The taste of pumpkin is very subtle, but it definitely there. I will be back to try the beverages on the menu next time. This shop has a variety of goods. It is somewhere between a grocery store and a smoke shop. Needless to say I come here for good related to both smoking and vaping. Totally digging this café shop right on Lafayette right by the SoHo shopping area. I come here whenever there is 10-15 minutes to spare and I just want to drink some coffee in peace. The starbucks down the street is a zoo so Iconic is always my trusted coffee shop spot that will guarantee to keep me on time with way less people traffic. Grabbed a Cappuccino here. It was very good. The place is small and it has 5 chairs. My friend and I were planning on sitting down but a man who came in after us put his bag on one of the seats as were being waited on so we had to sit on the bench outside which was fine but it was cold. I loved the little design in the foam on the cappuccino. I also got a chocolate peanut butter bar that i brought home for my husband and he really liked it. On its face, Iconic Cafe is an easy going independent coffee spot and a welcome change from the over-commercialization of the neighborhood. staff were fine, and they have a range of breakfast and lunch options. bonus--they have plugs for your laptop! So why 2 stars? THERE IS NO RESTROOM! This is a VERY serious problem in my mind. Coffee products are natural laxatives & diuretics. Customers will need to use the restroom. Failing to provide one, to me, is like saying a big "Eff you" to the customers. And in the same breath, to provide laptop outlets...as if encouraging people to have a seat and work for several hours...until of course, you have to answer nature's call. And no, I don't have some weird medical problem that makes me pee every 20 minutes. I just think this a basic service that you should be able to count on when you go some place that serves food and drink. But here's the thing: there IS a restroom. Because legally, there has to be one for staff. So why not make it open to customers? I realize there may be health code issues but there are always ways to address this, even if it means building a relationship with a neighboring business who will let you use the rest room. If you are just looking to take-out, it's perfectly fine, but if you plan to sit for any period of time and anticipate that you might maybe possibly need to pee at some point, because you know, you have a digestive system.....then just go to Starbucks. read more

Bah! I want to like this place so much! After the D&D deli closed on the other corner, there really is no affordable coffee/breakfast sandwich option other than Iconic in this neighborhood. The coffee is good, but over the past week have had two incidents: one where they totally just forgot my order until someone realized i was still waiting, and then gave me the wrong cream cheese on my bagel, undiscovered until I got to work. 11/22/14, around 4:45PM: Poor Customer Service This cafe usually has good service. Its coffee and snacks are usually outstanding as well. Today, I ordered 2 large drip coffees. Usually, in any coffee shop, the cashier would prepare this type of order while I complete the transaction. The cafe uses a tablet to process their transactions so there are a few requests to complete. In this case, the cashier was dwindling with her fingers while I was completing the transaction. She didn't ask her co-workers to help her pour the cups. She just waited until I was finished and took the next customer's order. I stepped aside and waited by the counter. About a minute passed, she continued to take about 2 more customers and I still did not received my order. Eventually, she went to the kitchen/back room and I just bluntly asked another employee for my 2 drip coffees. He poured them without any hesitation. She didn't know whom the coffee was for so she inputted in the tablet. "2 Large coffees?" She said. I told her that I paid already. "Oh, you did?" she seemed aghast and surprised about that. I was livid by that point. It was literally less than 2 minutes since I ordered. How could you forget? No one after me had that order. I was waiting at the counter the whole time in your field of vision. The coffee cups were filled to the top and I went to pour some out in the trash bin (Starbucks ruined me in that aspect). As she sped from behind the counter to right next to me, she yelled with hostility and truculence, "Excuse me ma'am, please do not to pour the coffee in the trash bin. We have a sink over there." She had the audacity to leave her workstation to yell at me but not to pour me 2 cups of coffee. That caught almost everybody's curiosity. I apologized as I admit that I truly did not know. I left thinking about what happened. Ordered 2 large coffees that took too long to get then get yelled at by cashier. read more
