I hired Icy Hot to install LG minisplit HVAC systems at 3 rental properties working with Jerren who has always been very responsive. Jerren is no longer with the company and my experiences for service calls / warranty repairs working Jason has been very disappointing. One of the mini splits stopped working and the replacement parts needed from LG took a very long time arrive. It was close to 2 months without air conditioning in the middle of the summer. I understand this was out of Icy Hot's control, however, it was very difficult to get updates from Jason on the status of the parts (even if there no update to provide). It was clear he doesn't care about supporting his existing customers. I had to call the parts supplier to put pressure on them to get the parts needed. It was eventually fixed and I moved on. The same issue happened again about a year later as diagnosed by Jason but this time he just simply ghosted me. Calls, voicemails and texts to his office number and cell went unanswered. It's been almost a month since he went out for the service call with 0 update. I had to hire another company to diagnose the issue and had to pay for the parts that were under warranty just to get this issue resolved so I'm not without heating and cooling for another month. If you go with Icy Hot don't expect to get any support after your payment clears and any warranty offered will be so difficult to use that it will be practically useless. Be weary of any older reviews mentioning Jerren as things have clearly changed from when Jason took over. He simply just doesn't care about his customers and does not stand by the products he installs. read more

Icy Hot installed the AC unit at our home back in 2018 before we bought it in 2021. We reached out to schedule a regular inspection before the summer heat, and initally Jason agreed to come out to our house after 5pm on March 27. But that day Jason called to say he was running late and wouldnt be over until after 9pm. I offered to reschedule and Jason said he would call me back the next day to set a new appointment for the following week. I never heard back from him. I tried calling him again on April 4th to set a new appointment. I left a voice-mail and to this day, I have not heard back fro him. Not a great way to take care of your customers by ghosting them. read more

I hired IcyHot Heating and Air Conditioning for routine maintenance in summer 2023. Carlos did a great job, but the AC flaps were screwed on too tight afterward. I called for a quick fix, and they sent David who didn't know how to remove the part and ended up breaking the flap. I even overheard him laughing on the phone saying he didn't know what he was doing. For the next TWO Years, I kept being told the part was hard to find because my unit is older. I eventually spoke with the owner, Jason, and explained my situation. After waiting so long, I asked for at least a free maintenance service or some kind of discount. He scheduled a date in May 2025, then canceled due to a back injury and I haven't heard from him since. As a first time homeowner, I rely on trustworthy service and always treat workers with respect and appreciation. But after two years of being patient with no resolution, I'm extremely disappointed. We had 3 in home estimates to get a new AC system in our home in the SGV. We also had 1 ballpark based on size of system and square footage of the home. Jason came out to see me and my wife to get us a price and explain in detail what he was and wasn't gonna do. One of the biggest things that was very important to me was taking our old furnace out of the hallway closet and putting it up into the attic. Jason very confidently with his experience explained in detail a pretty detailed plan of how he was going to move the system up and what needed to take place. No one was really able to explain it that quick with that much confidence. Another company needs to make a phone call and the first guy that came out didn't really want to move the system. The ballpark I got that guy said he would not move the system in the attic during the summertime. (I think obviously because it was too hot.) Jason's price was reasonable and slightly higher than my budget, as a contractor myself I know if you want something done, right, especially if it's custom you're gonna have to pay a little more for it. So I seen the value in it all day long. They also move the condenser from outside of my back door all the way around to the side of our house where it was hidden much better He was doing reviews online and watching several YouTube videos seem to be a quality brand we used Amana. (It can be confusing) His plan of where he was going to put the new vents strategically was refreshing. He also added a few more events that none of the other companies discussed. Like an extra one in my kitchen and another one in our smaller bathroom. He was also able to get us in and a very decent timeline The first day he came out with three guys and they must've worked eight or nine hours The second day he had five guys at and I believe they worked a 14 hour day. I don't think that was their preference but they knew they had to get our system up and running as we were kind of heat wave. (Removing our old furnace, took them extra time and that it was in a very small closet. They handled it no problem, hence the 14 hour day. None of them seem to have complained and sure enough by the end of the second day they got the system running. He came back a day to button everything up and explain in detail how to use my system, and my wife through every room. Jason communicated very well throughout the entire process They cleaned up after themselves every single day to make sure that I was satisfied I am very very picky, detailed contractor, expectations are set very high. Jason was Everything I was hoping he would be. He did go above and beyond and do a couple extra things for us per my request. So, Jason came and did some work for us earlier this year. We wanted to ensure that we had a working HVAC system before the warm weather hit. All was great. Until it wasn't. One of our vents is not letting air through. Jason sent someone to look at it and the gentleman said that he couldn't understand why "dampeners" were not installed. That was it. No follow up or communication about guaranteeing the work (which was in the thousands). We tried calling and no response to this day. NEVER AGAIN! I originally hired your service in mid-July and the first guy came and did all the testing and told us our HVAC is old and needs to be replaced. But in the meantime, they installed a new capacitor and new booster (300%) - basically a hard start kit. I was told that the booster itself costs over $100. Being gullible, I believed him and paid $450 in cash for his repairs (was originally quoted $580 if credit card). He arrived around 4:30 PM and left just before 6:00 PM. His repairs included: installing a "new" capacitor and "new" booster and "cleaning the AC system". The "cleaning" was just spraying it with WD40 and rinsing, which we he had taken back after we asked for a discount. He was going to leave without rinsing the system, but we had to push for it. So he spent another 5 minutes "rinsing" and "cleaning" the AC unit. Granted, we were told that he doesn't know how long the hard start kit would last - could be a year, a month, or a week. It lasted about a month. We called and since it was still under warranty of 30 days, they sent a second guy to come and test it. This guy simply installed a larger hard start booster (500%) and said the same thing - doesn't know how long it would last but also emphasized that the booster costs over $100 and took the old 300% one back with him. We know that our HVAC is old, but it's not COMPLETELY done yet, we still have at least a couple of years left on it. We hired a third party and he said it was running fine - couple of years left MAX. So today, the booster isn't working again. I decided to check online and see how much it costs to replace - Amazon sells it for $10 - 15. Same as Lowe's or Home Depot. Why do you feel the need to LIE and EXAGGERATE on your overhead costs when we all know you're just trying to make a large profit here? I'm going to try to replace the booster on my own since that's all they did - charged $450 for about 2 hours' worth of just opening the AC, looking around, and installing something that took less than 10 minutes.... I'm just going to assume I was given used boosters - it's possible that the techs just switch out the equipment from home to home - especially since they took back the first 300% booster. I'm not even going to try to call you guys back because the I cannot deal with any more lies or exaggerations - at such an expensive cost too. read more

Jason came out exactly when he said he would & quickly found a possible issue. We just needed to change our filter & adjust vents. He said if that didn't work he would quickly come back out. The AC did cool much better but not at optimum condition so he's combing back out. Best thing about initial visit is he said there would be no charge since he was only here about 15 minutes.
