Recently had Sinclair come out for a hvac inspection and couldn't be happier with their service and professionalism. We have been fortunate in that we haven't had any issues with our system over the past 10 years but wanted someone to check the freon level. My wife coordinated the inspection with Sinclair since a few other owners in our community had used them in the past. When Rick showed up, I kept scratching my head as to why he looked familiar and couldn't pin point where I had seen/met him even though he didn't recall ever servicing our unit. Rick ended up adding ~ 2 lbs of refrigerant and changed out the switch and capacitor. Appreciated his honesty while pointing out what parts were likely to fail in the near future and knew I didn't want them to go out during a heatwave. After the work was completed, I finally remembered that Sinclair was the company that installed the hvac system at my parent's house back in 2004. Crazy to think I've know Rick for over 18 years!! Rick and his team really do have exceptional customer service. Greg came to take a look at our A/C that stopped blowing cool air only a month after having refilled the refrigerant for the first time in 7 yrs (after experiencing the lack of cold air blowing in the heat of summer). He found what he thought was the only problem (valves near the compressor weren't tightened all the way) and was gonna call it a day after seeing that the pressure seemed to hold, but thankfully he stayed a lil longer and realized the pressure was indeed dropping. After getting some refrigerant and a leak sniffer dropped off for him, Greg was able to diagnose a big leak in the evaporator coil. Rick called to let me know what the situation was and expressed sympathy for what I've been having to deal w/ (e.g. $$ down the drain from all the paid-for refrigerant leaking out in a month) and gave me a good offer for 1) the leak detection work and 2) the work that'd be needed to replace the evaporator coil. I was talking w/ another HVAC company at the time (for quotes) that had come the day before and suggested using a UV sealing liquid that works in 70% of cases and doubles as a way to detect where a leak is in the future. That company called me in the middle of my talking w/ Rick's team (e.g. Susie who processes payments), and when I shared that the leak was found and what was recommended, the other company's owner said he'd still go w/ his plan w/ the UV sealing liquid cuz it's cheaper and had worked in all cases of his except 1. I felt stuck and unsure at that point what to do. Rick called me to follow-up on what my decision would be, and after I shared what I heard from the other company (fully intending to still go w/ Sinclair Air Systems since they found the leak, but just unsure which solution to implement), he explained the details and reasoning for why it made sense to do the replacement of the whole evaporator coil. I felt confident going w/ that solution after the call. I was also appreciative of Susie's initiative on our call when she was exchanging payment details w/ me where she picked up on the fact that it would be a lot to Zelle the whole amount over in 1 go & thus why I wanted to put it on a credit card. They have a transaction fee that's added on top of the bill if a credit card is used, which is kind of significant, but they were willing to split that btwn us. One more story before I finish is that they included for free a safety switch for if condensation accumulation was too great. That was unbeknownst to me, and thankfully, came into use right after b/c some time after Greg left after final touches, the compressor fan stopped working. I called and left a voicemail and was called back by the team for confirmation that they'll return the next day to figure out what went wrong. Greg returned and said he was pretty sure what the issue was, which is that the safety switch got triggered, which means he needed to make s'more adjustments for the evaporator coil to be properly elevated (was tricky due to the new one being a different size, and our crawl space/attic above the garage not having much room to maneuver within). Rick's team is personable and knowledgeable, and I've made sure my neighbors know about Sinclair Air Systems' honest work. read more

CONSUMER BEWARE****Do not use this company. If you are even considering using this company understand that the price of installation is not worth the numerous issues. Call around, look at reviews, go to cslb.ca.gov/ Rick is the owner; and wife Susie in office. Rick attempted to install a broken AC unit. He lied about the job, said frozen AC unit meant our AC was working. If he gives you a price and it seems too good to be true, well it is. He will also tell you how other companies are ripping you off and how honest he is. They were also practicing with a suspended license and just got it reinstated. They spent a week+ to install a broken unit that we later found out was entirely different unit from our contract. Rick was rude and condescending, and when he had to come back to our house to "attempt to fix the unit", he was angry. He had informed us how busy he was to fix his broken unit. This man is a liar and unprofessional. He lied about a wrong ac unit and ac issues we had. I am shocked if anyone had a positive outcome for the horrible work performed. This bad installation could have caused our attic to flood with their "botched incomplete installation " Sinclair Air did not pull a City Permit which is required. They would not have been able to do so with an expired license. I would not have given a star but had to for review. read more

So in April we contacted Sinclair Air for a quote to replace our HVAC system. They quoted us $4800 for the system. We didn't commit because we were working on other remodeling projects and our funds were tied. Sinclair Air offered us a deal, we would pay a portion of the $4800 when the system was installed and the rest later. That was pretty generous, and they were slow at the time so it worked out for both of us. The installer came to install the system, checked out the existing system and said we needed new ducts, we have about 7 ducts total and they wanted an additional $1500 for that. Seeing that they were already there, we figured we had no choice and agreed. While taking the old system down from our attic, the ladder for the installer slipped and he dropped the old system and left a nice gash on our closet door and door trim. While removing the old thermostat, he left a nice gash in the wall. Not only t hat but dirty hand prints all over the house. He made one more mistake that would not be discovered until June 16th and the reason for this post. Apparently while installing the system, he stepped on a pvc pipe for the drain. By doing so all the condensation from the system didnt drain, but accumulated in the ceiling. On June 16th we came home to a leaking ceiling. No one has been in the attic since the HVAC install so we called Sinclair Air, they sent a tech out on June 17th, Wednesday, and discovered the error. We were told someone would call us back on Thursday. We did not receive a call, so we called Sinclair Air, they told us they have been busy and have not met with the tech in the office. We took pictures of the damage, and emailed them. The tech already spoke with someone from Sinclair Air over the phone and notified them of the issue. I call Sinclair Air again on Friday at 2pm to see what the status is. At this time the lady told me she was the only one at the office and was busy. It is summer season and is probably very busy for them, but how they run their office is not my business or problem. If they decide to not staff enough employees to handle the busy season, it is a decision they make that impacts customer service. The lady told me they will call me Monday. I wait for their call Monday and around 4pm again with no calls from them I call to see what the status is. The lady has Rick call me and he goes into a spiel on how he offered me the payment plan and he asked if I got quotes from other companies. I told him him I did not seek quotes from other companies and I simply went with him. He goes on about how he offered the payment plan and how he probably saved me at least $1200 from competitors and I should be patient as he tries to get his paint guy out here. He said he would call me back on Wednesday the 24th to schedule the paint guy to come out. Again like the rest, no call from them. Accidents happen, we were calm and patient with them. I only expect one thing, if you say you are going to do something, do it, dont make me chase after you for an update. The least I expect is to keep me updated, dont make me call to get an update when you forget to call. How a company responds when there is an issue speaks volumes, so far Sinclair Air gets a fail in that department. read more

This company was extremely difficult to schedule with - we kept playing phone tag with the receptionist who would rarely call back when she said she would. When we finally got an initial diagnostic appointment, they charged us far more than other companies, did not wear masks, and left dirt all over our floor. The repairs required follow-up, but after a week, we didn't hear anything from them, so we tried calling to check on the status. The receptionist did not know and said they would get back to us, which they did not. After another week, we got fed up and let them know we were going to go with another company. The receptionist was apologetic and said that the repair guy would likely get in touch with us. Several weeks later, we have not heard a peep from them. Sinclair was original installer of my AC system over 10 years ago and the system barely kept house cool on hot days and ran all the time. Been with these guys for years, but always felt system wasn't sized right or something was wrong. Finally decided to call someone else today, and first observation they made was that the intake duct wasn't the right size - too small - for 4 ton system. People left early and didn't say anything. A few days later a bill for the inspection fee of $145 was sent. Called to ask and no reasonable explanation was given. All the work on all the homes still running well. 6-7 yrs later with no issues. Very good at electric work too as they replaced my main circuit board panel as well. Horrible experience! My wife and I were recommended to Sinclair by a friend. Our 30+ year old a/c died and we knew that. All we wanted was a quote to compare with other companies. Their tech came over and right away started working. We thought it was part of the quote process (they were the first company we called). Their tech said our a/c needed to be replaced. Really! Your not telling us anything new. As you can imagine we were appalled when he asked for $95 service fee! He said don't worry, that money could be applied to the overall cost of the new a/c. Back when we were remodeling and decided to add Central Air, only Sinclair agreed to do the install and reasonably priced. The other two companies we called advised us that the ceiling crawl space was just not high enough even if the section only had beams at that time which should make the install possible if not easy. Rick showed up and did not see any problems and got the units installed and coordinated with the electrician and contractors. Almost ten years later, Rick shows up again and saves the day. Last Sunday, during the expected heat wave, our unit would just turn on for a few seconds then shut down. We realize it was a busy time for service calls with temperatures at over 105 so we just waited until they have someone who can come over since we survived without A/C before although that was 10 years ago. So, Rick shows up today and diagnoses that the unit just needs freon, calls his office as he goes to another call. 20 minutes later, Eddie shows up with the freon, charges the unit and we are good to go again hopefully for another 10 years. But if this unit goes out, we know who we can count on to give us a great price and properly replace the unit. i hope Sam and Miranda are still there to take our calls read more

They never call back, you always have to reach out to them! This company is a scam. While mid installation, they said they will add on more than the original price! Also, after fully installing our AC, our bill was $1,000 more than what we talked about from the start!! After we dealt with that nightmare, the A/C didn't even work correctly! It was blowing unevenly! Then when we tried to schedule another appointment for them to fix it, they kept on pushing back the date and never showed up until months later! I posted a one-star review in 2014 after Sinclair installed my new unit. After three years of on again, off again, performance by the unit, which intermittently would start or not start, it was discovered that the thermostat had been improperly installed -- one wire was left completely out of the "loop" and caused the unit to malfunction. This again represented totally shoddy workmanship on the part of Sinclair. I cannot believe that this company is still in business and seriously warn people NOT to use this company. read more

So first off I would like to thank the entire staff at Sinclair air!! Thank you so so much! I don't know how you guys did it in peak season and record breaking heat waves of the week to come out to my house and replace my entire unit all in ONE day! WOW! You guys have very empathetic and caring staff that work extra hard. I really appreciated that. So on Thursday evening my AC went out and was not working all night. It was 90 overnight so my wife took the kids to my in laws' house because it was unbearable. I called Friday afternoon requesting for someone to come and check out my unit. I spoke to Miranda who said she would have to call me back because everybody was in the field. She called later saying she was going to send out Rick. I got the horrible news that the motor was out, which I kind of figured after talking to several other friends who work on AC units (but were out of town since it was Labor Day weekend). Rick gave me a reasonable estimate, I thought about it and worked up a deal. That same afternoon the unit arrived and I had two guys work on it then later came Rick again (the owner). I felt I was in great hands because he was easy to establish trust and good rapport with. It felt even better chilling in a house with 76 inside and about 100 outside that same evening. I got a call back saying they'd call me again to see whether they can have someone come over Saturday or the following Monday. Well, never got the call again.
