There is a short walk from the parking lot to the aquarium, but the walk itself isn't that bad. There are two sides to the aquarium to explore, an outside area where you can see some adorable as can be small blue penguins and another outside area with touch pools. The area with the touch pools has a gorgeous view of the beach & ocean as the aquarium sits up higher so you'll have a great view for photos. We thought they had a great selection of sea life to view. They had several different types of Jelly fish & several different species of Sea horses. I absolutely loved seeing the Sea Kelp Dragons, they are so cool to see. The bathrooms were clean, the gift shop was nice, and all of the staff we interacted with were friendly. I would say we were here for 45 minutes altogether?

Otherwise, you'll be paying around $40 per person, unless you have an EBT card, which brings admission down to only $3 per person. There are about two sections of aquatic animals to explore. There is a penguin section, a small shark section, and a variety of other marine creatures. There is also an outdoor section with a nice view of the ocean in San Diego, which makes for some great photo opportunities. I've been to many aquariums, and I felt slightly underwhelmed by this one, mostly because of the price. Other than that, it's still a pretty nice spot to check out at least once. Parking: Plenty of parking, and it's free!

What a unique and fun experience! Totally worth the time and money…read more I had recently had an amazing experience with Brainy Actz. I saw them on Yelp & found their Groupon. Some existing reviews made me have some initial doubts which led me to attempt contact before I go through with paying for the experience. There were no issues trying to reach the staff via phone to answer any questions or concerns. They were very efficient and helpful in helping me book the experience instantly. When I had to make some same day scheduling changes, they were so accommodating and worked with me on a new time. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by Ella. She was thorough in giving us a run down of how our blackout escape room experience works and provided us with useful tips when we needed assistance (and we definitely needed some assistance; the game was challenging enough to maintain excitement but doable enough to motivate you to keep playing). Ella was so kind and encouraging and made our visit feel super special. The blackout experience was so different than anything else I've ever experienced. It's exactly as it sounds. You are in a single escape room that is pitch black the entire time. There's some background sounds to create a somewhat nerve-wracking ambience that got me extra paranoid especially because I couldn't see a thing. There were just two of us trying to navigate the room, and the space definitely felt much bigger in the dark. This would be just as fun and comfortable with a handful of friends. You have one hour to use your remaining senses in the dark to decipher some cryptic hints given through the loud speaker with the press of a button. You're allowed to relisten to these hints multiple times this way. However, if you need further assistance, you will have to communicate via walkie talkie that is handed to you at the start of the game. One of their staff monitoring you throughout your gameplay will guide you through the current necessary action. You're allow unlimited hints but keep it within three if you're competitive and wish to make the leaderboard. I have no shame and did not hesitate to ask for help when really stuck. LOL I which case, Ella's voice would reply over the walkie talkie and provided us aid to help us continue. We managed to finish the game and definitely felt like we were given a full experience delivered in the best way! Whether you're a lover of the more typical escape rooms or just trying to find something new to do, I highly recommend checking out Brainy Actz and experience this for yourself!

We got up close and personal with two raptors (a falcon and a hawk), each flying a short distance to perch on your gloved arm. You learn a lot about the differences between certain raptors, but the information is delivered in an interesting, engaging, and sometimes funny ways. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys getting up close to animals, whether or not you're into birding but probably especially in the latter case. It is absolutely worth the price and we are looking at gifting this same experience to other friends and family. Logistics: Plenty of parking on the dirt lot there at the glider port. Then go to the area near the entries to gift shop and restaurant - wait next to a few steps leading up to a metal cage in view there. Be sure to take sun protection and/or a hat.

The biggest downside for me was unfortunately not the place itself, but some of the parenting. A lot of parents seemed to use the time to relax and stay glued to their phones while their kids ran into other children, grabbed toys from them, or just caused chaos without anyone stepping in. I also wasn't impressed with the staff. In my experience, they came across as pretty unfriendly and didn't really interact with the kids at all. For a place centered around children, I expected the staff to be a little more welcoming, engaged, and involved. I like the concept and the play areas, but I found myself having to correct other kids because their parents weren't paying attention. With more attentive parenting and a friendlier, more engaged staff, this could easily be a much better experience.

Checking this one off my bucket list before it even landed on my bucket list…read more YES, I believe everyone should experience a challenge course like this at least once in their life! I was on the hunt for a ropes course for my sister's bachelorette weekend for MONTHS. I couldn't find one that was 1) in the area 2) in our price range and 3) open on July 4th. Not a single one. And then I received an e-mail that UCSD would open up their challenge course for us...a bunch of ladies (and two gentlemen!) who did not know what we were getting ourselves into for a couple hours on a Saturday morning. We only did the highs-only course that was 50 ft up in the air. This included walking on wires, jumping across platforms, upper body strength, and ziplining...to name a few. I know it's not the typical "bachelorette" extravaganza, but I wanted something thrilling and adventurous that we could all participate in together. That's exactly what this challenge course does; it tests your limits and helps to strengthen collaboration, but most importantly, it's FUN! I, personally, was not frightened by the height or tasks we had to do, but it was definitely exhilarating on another level (no pun intended.) I write this review with a profound gratitude for this company because they exceeded my expectations. THANK YOU for giving us a reasonable price per person (every other company I called was $3000-4000 for a group of 12,) being open just for us on a holiday, and integrating such vibrant personalities to lead us through the course. I wish we could have tried things like Leap of Faith, etc., but perhaps there's always another time! I think I've found a new hobby. :)
